Pretty funny ... where's the Ken version? EOM
lenshawn,
Well, so far the green line, which was a given.
Will we see the "blue line special?"
Putt puttin' here too LOL, but I'll have to buy some more there, saving some in case "they" get real mean.
jonesie
Ken, let me know when.
I'd like to be there if at all possible, some of your Seasonals have already set up, I see another one confirmed with the %R yesterday.
Different topic: one to keep an eye on:
From recent scans, setting up nicely?:
Ken,
re: "You can only apply this knowledge when you have it firmly set in your mind that you can recognize it immediately upon approach."
That has certainly proved to be the case. As I have "internalized" each indicator or pattern over time it becomes increasingly easier to see at a glance when it is all coming together. Patience pays off in waiting for these setups to mature, trying to make one fit that isn't ready is usually a bad idea.
Ditto on not many stocks being in a good mode, market in general has been tough, stocks I've chosen in the past to buy, accumulate and hold for the longer term are mostly ALL down, I almost wish I could eradicate the last vestiges of that "old" mentality entirely ;). It's only stocks chosen recently using TA that seem to be having any chance.
Thanks again for all your work and input, it has been very valuable.

lenshawn:
re: "What do you think of the notion of them pushing it (w/ a quick blip) back down to .29 again?"
I LIKE the notion! A quick drop like that on no news? Yum, be still my heart!
I know, I know, we'll all get airsick if we fly through that air pocket, I'm generally pushing the buy buttons when stocks do that with shaky fingers LOL, but if "they" are going to cause ME that kind of pain, then "I" am going to profit from it in the long run!
The rubberband reaction would be nice, like you say we've been there done that. Of course patterns repeat ... until they don't.
jonesie
p.s. Ain't it great??!! Where else can you get these adrenaline rushes without risking bodily harm??!! ;) Sometimes those drops remind me of when I was lead climbing about 200 feet up on a rock face and the guy belaying me from a bombproof protected position about 50 feet below me said "off belay!" cuz he'd messed up! I was in the middle of a lunge move! At least here I can only fall out of my chair LOL.
alynn, I see what you see.
Just FYI, there was a 200,000 share trade at .37 at 15:51:41.
There was also a 200,000 share trade after hours at .3723 at 16:03:04, shown as a "T" trade, which is after hours in Fidelity's Time and Sales.
jonesie
I wonder what "they" want this time?
The green line or the blue line?
I'll take some of both I think.
These suckers are like magnets.
Red day all around today.
Ran a stockcharts scan on all stocks over $1, trading an avg. 100K shares/day, only these have W%R(9) crossing over 50 intraday today. Not many out of stockcharts' database LOL

Good example of what NOT to get in to:
INNO
Had a Magic Box setup and %R confirmation, but the setup wasn't there in the ADX indicator.
Bad earnings out today, downgraded. Perhaps the chart foretold this a bit?
doubloon, now I can't remember which show/network it was aired on ...
Oh wait, it was Dateline NBC I think.
but it WAS the "promised" show, the one talked about on that FaulkingTruth website for so long, the one that was delayed for so long, for reasons we can only be suspicious of. Shoot, one week it was preempted by some silly recap of the travails of some The Biggest Loser contestants.
That watered down show may be all we get. And agreed, the REAL story as even we "uninformed" folks know (or maybe I shouldn't include you guys in "we", maybe it's just me lol), would scare lots of investors, scares me.
jonesie
doubloon, there was a segment aired a few weeks ago
under the heading of "Stockgate" I believe. Ron Insana hosted it. It was a very watered down version of what people were expecting to hear, and it would have been confusing and NOT very informative to those not already knowing about the problem. The case of one company, Eagle something I think, was talked about, which WAS expected, but again, I didn't think it got the point across very well.
Did you see that? I was very disappointed.
jonesie
One from today's scans:
Hi Ron,
My thinking exactly. I wouldn't mind a few more at .37, and then more if NEOM were to drift a bit lower.
These retracements within the uptrend are wonderful things for those who like to build a position over time and as profits from other stocks become available.
Good luck and may the future be bright.
jonesie
200SMA has been good support so far
except for some short-lived panic overshoot a while back ... and NEOM is there again.
Since 8/23 NEOM has had higher highs and higher lows, a nice little uptrend to be in while waiting.
No sweat IMHO.
jonesie
markrhead, thanks.
Yeah, I've got sub. to Stockcharts, post charts from there all the time, just being lazy, have a great chart in Fidelity ActiveTraderPro with trendlines already plotted in, wanted to use, guess I'll just add the trendies to it in Stockcharts.
Posting question:
If I've got a chart in .png format on my PC and I want to get it posted, I need to upload it to a site somewhere so I can link to it using the IHUB chart linking method.
Anybody know a free fast easy site somewhere that accepts uploads like that? I ran across one the other day and forgot where it is LOL
TIA

Yep, that was my point.
But after I wrote the post I had this vague recollection I had seen someone else post that about Kearns working for NEOM when I was scanning posts over the weekend.

I finally got it sorted out.
Although I had their site in trusted/allowed sites zone in every security program I run ... a recent update of Norton Internet Security put a NIS button on my browser tool bar and THAT little rascal had popups blocked ... everywhere.
I noticed that at the exact same time I cleared my Java cache so it was one or the other ... or maybe both. Haven't tried today yet so I hope there's not a problem myself.
Good luck.
steelers_fan, smoke, all you DD guys are awesome.

"how TA/charting can predict a blockbuster anouncement"
chartist provided one possible answer to this, and there are probably more:
"There is no way a chart can predict your scenario (a blockbuster PR scenario) unless someone is buying prior to the announcement at the end of the day and that would get reflected in "unusual" chart volume."
Strict adherence to TA can certainly lead to the possiblity of being "out" when a non-leaked blockbuster PR comes out, and strict adherents to TA understand and accept that possibility. There're all kinds of ways a pure trader could get "bit" that way, but it's all just part of the Greatest Game on Earth IMO, accepted as pragmatically and non-emotionally as possible by TA devotees.
Let's say there was a nice runup which culminated at a double top right at an existing long term downtrend line. Shortly thereafter, the stock retraces a bit, maybe even more than a bit, and no news was to be found. A TA guy might conclude that the runup (and subsequent retracement) was technical in nature, or that there was the rumor or expectation of news that didn't pan out. Then, right after I pat myself on the back for "calling" the top and selling there (either all my shares, or as is more likely with a TA-student guy like me who also has GOOD REASON to believe the stock is ultimately a gorilla in the space, just selling those additional traders picked up at a technical bottom to be sold at a technical top) ... a blockbuster PR comes out and the stock gaps up 100%, one of those gaps that will NEVER be filled. (From my mouth to the Stock gods' ears, thank you).
If I was out all the way, then the result was: I gambled and "lost" and now have to chase and start my re-entries at a higher point, most likely after THOROUGH examination and hopefully flushing out all potential retracement, etc etc. That gap would not be the end of the world by the way, as presumably I already made money with several trades over the preceding weeks/months, perhaps way more than enough money to cover the cost of my higher re-entry, if I choose to look at it that way. If I had only sold some traders at that top that I picked up lower, hey, am I going to be complaining much after seeing my core holding go up 100%? Nope, just gonna enjoy and tuck the experience away as one more datapoint along the learning curve.
Chartist mentioned something else that applies to me in a very big way. The TA part of all this gives those of us who "need it" (and I admire those of you who don't just as much) a profound sense of control in situations might otherwise seem totally out of control, like the situations that evoke those "why did my stock go down!!!???" posts that are so frequent on so many boards.
Maybe we (TA proponents) are all "control freaks" at heart LOL. I know I've got a bit of that in me.
All JMHO and sorry for digressing a bit from chartist's simple and probably sufficient answer to "how does TA predict a blockbuster PR". Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't, one has to be prepared as well as possible for all eventualities.
Now I'm REALLY outta here lol, y'all have a good day.
jonesie
Good job soldier.
Now drop and give me 50.
LOL, have a good one, outta here.
jonesie
p.s. JP, the surfing links were awesome.
"may I ask why you chart Neom so closely?"
He and others, including me, have explained "why" about 257 times as best I can recollect.
Moreover, about 50 people have asked him to continue to do so, and I can't remember anyone asking him to stop.
In general, I can't believe this discussion about charting/no charting goes on day after day. The same questions, the same answers. Nobody is trying to ram any investment/trading/accumulation method down anybody's throats just by discussing CHARTS, just as nobody is trying to ram the need to buy NEOM down anybody's throats just by discussing fundamentals.
How about this ... anyone interested in charts, talk about charts please (for instance I use TA in nearly EVERY move I make in a stock so I enjoy the chart discussions), and anyone not interested in charts, please ignore the discussion of charts and discuss fundamentals only (and I GREATLY appreciate ALL of the DD done and provided by others on this board).
Criminy.

Scan engine problem
Out of the blue I'm having a problem running scans in StockCharts. Nothing happens, I get a page (not a NEW browser page like the scans USED to do) but rather, my browser goes to a page that says this page should automatically refresh in 30 seconds, but it's not doing anything, and it says "Done" at the bottom right away.
I notified StockCharts and their only idea so far was to clear my Internet cache files and restart, which I had already done about 6 times. In fact after doing that I've tried to run a scan before doing anything else at all, to no avail.
Has this happened to anyone before? Any ideas for a fix?

Anyone here know anything about this stock? Someone I know just emailed me about it, said everytime good news comes out it tanks, thinks it's manipulated. I sent him this chart but I know nothing about the stock.
I told him that unless he just felt lucky to wait to break that downtrend line to the upside, maybe W%R(9) crossing 50 to the upside in the next day or so would lead the way.
Ken/cloud re: EGHT
I've been in and out of 8x8 several times, in it now. I think "some" of that fall/winter growth could re-occur this year, with gas prices being what they are folks might think seriously about getting some videophones for them and the kids/grandkids and save a few trips during the year. Great Holiday gift perhaps. JMHO
jonesie
Ken, final day of decision?
Is there a time limit? Apologies if I've just forgotten something you've explained before.

d-k, yes I noticed that after posting that partial url
and the section that was after the bracketed "i" was italicized in that post lol. Indeed, good to know. Problem solved. Apparently the bracketed "i" isn't necessary for those charts to post properly.
