I finally got it sorted out.

Although I had their site in trusted/allowed sites zone in every security program I run ... a recent update of Norton Internet Security put a NIS button on my browser tool bar and THAT little rascal had popups blocked ... everywhere.

I noticed that at the exact same time I cleared my Java cache so it was one or the other ... or maybe both. Haven't tried today yet so I hope there's not a problem myself.
