The 6 drones you need to see at CES this year

Drones this year have better video quality, longer flight times and lower price tags
The International Consumer Electronics Show in 2015 may have been the year of the drones (http://www.marketwatch.com/story/6-drones-you-need-to-see-at-ces-2015-01-07), but this year the drone industry is only getting bigger.
CES in 2015 was about the funky accessories (including a parachute for drones) and quirky aesthetics (like a wearable bracelet drone released by Intel called "Nixie"). But this year, the drones are all about efficiency, from longer flight times to lower price tags -- an indication that the technology is only just now taking off.

Here are the six drones you need to see at CES this year:

Yuneec Typhoon H
Price: $1,799
Yuneec's Typhoon is a drone for the professional aerial photographer, sold at a consumer-level price. The drone carries Yuneec's CGO3+ camera, which allows for 4K videos and 12 megapixel stills.
The lightweight, carbon fiber Typhoon H has six rotors (a safety feature in case one of the motors fails), a 360-degree gimbal camera and retractable landing gear. And though it may be large in the air, it can become compact for travel, with foldable arms and propellers that disconnect easily. The Intel-funded (http://www.marketwatch.com/story/this-intel-funded-company-is-the-dark-horse-of-the-drone-industry-2015-09-10)(INTC), Chinese drone-maker is relatively new to the drone scene, but with this latest product, is rounding out its family of drones that start at $899 for lower models.
-Sally French; 415-439-6400; AskNewswires@dowjones.com
EHang 184
While the trend for some drones may be to get smaller, one company is going big -- in fact, large enough to fit a human inside. Chinese dronemaker EHang surprised CES audiences with a 5-foot-tall, 500-pound, fully electronic drone that is large enough to fit a human inside.
So what makes this thing a drone, and not just a helicopter? It's all in the piloting. The passenger simply enters their intended location into a smartphone app, gets inside, and the EHang 184 will take them there. But hopefully your destination isn't too far away. The battery lasts about 20 minutes.
EHang says that the drone has already carried out 100 manned flights, though it is not clear when the drone would be available to consumers.

Ambarella H2 and H12 camera chips
This one is not actually a drone -- it's the chip that powers the camera used in drones.
Chip maker Ambarella Inc. (AMBA) this week introduced the H2 and H12 camera chips (www.marketwatch.com/story/ambarella-makes-an-even-bigger-bet-on-drones-with-new-chip-launched-at-ces-2016-01-06), intended to allow drones to capture more powerful video than ever. The new chips mean that the next generation of drones will be able to function much better in low-light or high-contrast situations, and will produce much smoother video. They potentially eliminate the need for mechanical gimbals, pivoted support systems that can be costly and cumbersome on drones, but have so far been necessary for anyone looking to shoot high-quality, smooth footage.
-Sally French; 415-439-6400; AskNewswires@dowjones.com
Autel's X-Star
Price: $599-$799
Drone manufacturer Autel is using CES as the stage for its American debut, introducing its X-Star line of drones. The drones are consumer-oriented, ranging in price from $599-$799. The "Premium" drone comes with a 4K camera on a 3-axis gimbal to capture smoother video. The drone can sync up with your smartphone or tablet to allow a 720p HD live view of what the drone's camera sees.
-Sally French; 415-439-6400; AskNewswires@dowjones.com
Parrot Disco
When most people think of drones, they probably think of a helicopter-like robot with multiple whirring propellers. But French robotics company Parrot (http://www.marketwatch.com/story/5-questions-with-christian-louboutins-co-founder-turned-drone-maker-2015-11-17)(PARRO.FR) this year introduced a wing-shaped drone called Disco (http://blog.parrot.com/2016/01/04/ces-2016-new-drone-parrot-disco-prototype/) that requires no piloting skills.
All the operator needs to do is throw it into the air and from there, the autopilot takes over. To change directions or altitude, the operator can pilot it through their smartphone. It's loaded with a 1080p camera and offers 45 minutes of flight time.
Disco will be available later this year.

DJI Phantom 3 4K
The world's largest drone manufacturer, DJI, this year revealed drones that are slight improvements on older models, but at deep discounts.
DJI this week released the "prosumer"-targeted Phantom 3 4K drone, the latest edition to its Phantom 3 line of drones. The 4K edition comes with a 4K camera that uses Wi-Fi to transmit the video live to the operator's tablet or smartphone. The drone sells for just $799 -- a huge price decrease from the similar Phantom 3 Professional, which also streams 4K video, that was introduced in April for $1,259 (http://www.marketwatch.com/story/djis-new-phantom-drone-streams-real-time-through-youtube-live-2015-04-08).

Did you ever get any SAM puts???
In BXLT $45 calls for next week @ $0.40
BTO Jan 15 FIT $22 puts @ $1.00
I'm almost glad I didn't play the SAM puts...although the call was spot on I was looking to play $185puts, $180p, or $175p as it was fighting to hold $200. $180p bid unchanged and $175p is no bid as the stock is bottoming at $184.50 today
Still in play this trade?
Thanks JB! Feels like another leg lower is coming too
Now I put another buy order for the same Jan 15 $108p at the same price I bought them for earlier this morning. Let's see if it works.
NFLX Jan 15 $108 puts weeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!! Bought for $0.85 Sold for $2.20!!!
Going to try for round #2...
BTO 5 JAN 15 $108 PUTS @ $0.85
Swing baby Swing!
NFLX $108 puts weeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!! Bought for $0.85 Sold for $2.20!!!
I'm tempted to sell today but all I hear is how China is going to be a roller coaster tomorrow and wondering if and how that will affect US Markets negatively, specifically NFLX
Weeeeeeeeee!
Bought NFLX $108 puts for next week @ $0.85
Bought NFLX 108 puts for next week @ $0.85
Looking for a NFLX cool off...thoughts?
We live to play another day...totally agree. Just sometimes it feels like they wait for my trades to turn the afterburners on
Yep..got 3 bags and left 3 bags :(
Nice bro...I left another 300% on the table there :(
A. VRX is not a penny stock
B. VRX is volatile as hell as of late which brings me to C. It's a good swing trade stock
Since playing the options more regularly I've realized right now I'm not looking to go long on anything, or maybe I just don't see anything worth going long at the moment. CMG puts treated me well this week. I had $400 strike and bought them on Monday. I was afraid to hold especially after they spiked to 300% only to swing back down to where I purchased them later on in the day. Today I sold them for nearly what I wished I had on Monday and of course they're up another 300% from that price. I know I should be happy to have gotten out with a profit but waiting to get out of that trade kept me out of SAM and FIT so I'm a little perturbed.
CMG...finally sold my $400 puts for 380% gain...weeeeeeeeeee! On to the next exp!
CMG puts rockin again!
If that doesn't sound like a short trap I don't know what does
Could be...but just as quickly could rebound as much
$SNCR - $32.84...held off on the buy and now with the market rolling over I'm curious if it looks even better below $30?
Better at 34-to-36.
Patience grasshopper.

Following Nevada PUC's Decision to Punish Rooftop Solar Customers, SolarCity Forced to Eliminate More than 550 Jobs in Nevada
9:15 AM ET 1/6/16 | PR Newswire
Following the decision by Governor Brian Sandoval's Public Utilities Commission (PUC) to terminate Nevada's rooftop solar industry just days before Christmas, SolarCity(R) (NASDAQ: SCTY) announced that it has been forced to eliminate more than 550 jobs in the state. Where possible, the company will relocate affected employees to business-friendly states.
The PUC's decision to change the rules to punish existing solar customers after the state encouraged them to go solar with rebates is particularly callous and leaves Nevadans to question whether the state would ever place the financial security of regular citizens above the financial interests of NV Energy.
"I contacted Governor Sandoval multiple times after the ruling because I am convinced that he and the PUC didn't fully understand the consequences of this decision, not only on the thousands of local jobs distributed solar has created, but on the 17,000 Nevadans that installed solar with the state's encouragement," said Lyndon Rive, SolarCity's CEO. "I'm still waiting to speak to the Governor but I am convinced that once he and the Commissioners understand the real impact, that they will do the right thing."
SolarCity announced on December 23 that as a result of the PUC decision, it had to cease solar sales and installation in the state effective immediately. Other Nevada solar companies with higher cost structures than SolarCity are expected to collectively lay off thousands of additional Nevadans in the coming months.
"Telling employees they can no longer work for SolarCity is the hardest thing we've ever done," continued Rive. "These are hard-working Nevadans and a single government action has put them out of work. This is not how government is supposed to work."
SolarCity has also closed a training center in West Las Vegas that it opened a little over a month ago. The November press release announcing its opening contained this statement from Governor Sandoval: "I'm proud to celebrate the opening of SolarCity's new training center, which will make Nevada the regional hub for training workers in the jobs of the 21st century. Our homegrown solar industry has already created over 6,000 good Nevada jobs, and has tremendous potential to continue driving innovation, economic diversification, and opportunity in the Silver State."
Fortunately, there are other voices speaking up for solar employees and customers. The Nevada Bureau of Consumer Protection is attempting to protect Nevadans by filing a motion to halt implementation of the PUC's ruling, stating that the order's impact "is not consistent with the Governor's stated objectives of SB 374 or the Governor's initiatives and focus to increase jobs and employment for Nevada residents."
Just weeks after Congress voted with bipartisan support to extend the federal tax credit for solar, Governor Sandoval's Commission is moving the state backwards. The Governor's and Commission's support for a de facto ban on rooftop solar defies public opinion, including the opinion of the members of his own party. According to a recent poll by Moore Information, 73% of registered Nevada Republicans support the state's previous rooftop solar rules.

Apple Expects To Cut IPhone Production By 30%
1/5/2016 8:17 PM ET
Apple Inc. (AAPL) is expected to reduce output of its latest iPhone models by around 30% in the January-March quarter compared with its original plans, Nikkei Asian Review reported.
AAPL closed Tuesday's trading at $102.71, down $2.64 or 2.51%. In the after-hours trading the stock further dropped $0.48 or 0.47%.
The report indicated that the U.S. company had initially told parts makers to keep production of the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus for the quarter at the same level as with their predecessors -- the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus -- a year earlier.
But inventories of the two models launched last September have piled up at retailers in markets ranging from China and Japan to Europe and the U.S. amid lackluster sales. Customers saw little improvement in performance over the previous generation, while dollar appreciation led to sharp price hikes in emerging markets.
The report noted that output will be scaled back to let dealers go through their current stock. Production is expected to return to normal in the April-June quarter, once inventory adjustment is complete.

$CMG - Chipotle shares sink after it slashes guidance, discloses grand jury subpoena tied to CA norovirus incident
Jan 06, 2016 09:21:00 (ET)
Chipotle Mexican Grill Inc. (CMG) shares are down 3% in premarket trading after it said it expects a 14.6% decline in same-store sales for the fourth quarter. The company forecast a low-single digit same-store sales increase for 2015 during the third-quarter earnings announcement in October. The company forecasts earnings per share between $1.70 and $1.90 for the fourth quarter in an 8-K filing published Wednesday. The FactSet consensus is for EPS of $2.54. One-time expenses for the quarter will be in the $14 million to $16 million range, including expenses tied to food replacement in select restaurants, lab analysis, and retaining experts, all tied to E. coli and norovirus illness outbreaks in recent months. The company has authorized a stock buyback program totaling $300 million in addition to the $300 million authorized on Dec. 4. A total of $116 million remained available from that previous buyback program as of Dec. 31, 2015. Chipotle also said it received a federal grand jury subpoena requiring it to produce a range of documents tied to a norovirus incident in Simi Valley, CA in Aug. 2015. The company said it's not yet possible to determine whether it will incur any fines or other liabilities tied to the subpoena. Chipotle stock is down 37% for the past three months while the S&P is up 1.9% for the same period.
