If they were smart those snippy, grouchy, ornery $800 phone owners would put a case or bumpers on their phone made out of LQMT.
But they can't....
Because LQMT hasn't tested the waters making a case or frame with bumpers for an iPhone as a potential run-up to making a whole phone out of LQMT. Testing how consumers receive the product, how much they will pay, how and where to market, and whether LQMT could become a successful manufacturer--beginning on a small, exclusive scale.
Yes, that was the best I could come up with. A fact. And a very likely troubling fact for Turing that titanium has a high propensity to spark.
Obviously Mr Rubin doesn't care about the tendency for titanium to spark.
The media thought lithium batteries became dangerous if they got wet, wait till people post Youtube videos lighting campfires by scraping there $800 cell phone against a rock.
I can't answer for OnceAgain but I'm pretty sure his opinion revolves around the sharing agreement and that since foreign intrest now controls LQMT; therefore in effect the EXCLUSIVITY of LQMTs patents is foreseeably lost.
For those who might say LQMT's patents pertained to the US only or if there is a good made in the US then it has to be made by LQMT etc. etc. Well, there are many examples of those laws being sidestepped if not outright ignored by Chinese firms. Fact is, a larger, wealthier Chinese company controls LQMT. As I have said before, once the recipes for LQMTs BMGs got across the Pacific, there are too many layers and too many difficulties for us shareholders to claim what me might think is ours,
Besides, does anyone really believe that our COO Dr. Bromage would stand up to our CEO Prof Li and say "Dude, that manufacturing revenue is supposed deposited in LQMTs bank account" ?
Don't think so....
I believe that any company that is the majority shareholder in LQMT is of importance to all us shareholders. It's actions and inactions will always be of our concern.
This is not "old" news, it is a fact that will always be relevant.
I also think there are many here that still believe that Lugee Li personally holds 400 some million shares.
Do we know if the majority owner of LQMT, Hong Kong Liquidmetal, is a foreign or domestic corporation?
Did you miss the posts on Friday afternoon that Li's shares are held in the name Hong Kong Liquidmetal???
Well, off the top of my head it means LQMT would be a subsiderary of another firm. LQMT would have a whole other level of board of directors and management influencing the vote of each share. What if Hong Kong Liquidmetal said Professor Li no longer heads the LQMT division he's been replaced.
I could go on, but simply put many of us are here because we embrace Li, not some unknown company.
Were Li's shares purchased by him personally and then transferred to Hong Kong Liquidmetal?
LQMT being majority held by another company has some implications that I'm pretty sure many here were not aware of.
It's not Leslie's picture to be given back to him, it's LQMTs picture. He needs to learn how to.button a suit coat.
Sounds like the Engle Symposium rehashed in Chinese. <yawn>
Accumulated and LONG positions should all be very concerned what "The Hong Kong Liquid Metal Company" is!
'Cause I'm thinking that's not the LQMT we are here for and the sharing agreement is pretty clear about no revenue for our LQMT if EONTEC manufactures some LM105 parts for profit.
Just Say'n.....
Thanks for your input, you are exactly correct.
Good post Josh.
Let me ask a What If question:
LM105 is apparently the superior of all BMG formulations. What if Eon comes up with a LM105.2? A slightly different, but essentially the same as LM105? In my novice scientific mind a easy thing to come up with. They develop it, patent it, own it, and jump through all the hoops with Apple. What happens then?
Yes, China is gaining all the power. LQMT is a good example, let me explain.
It's one thing to have resources andmanufacture goods very cheaply.
It's another thing to have resources and manufacture quality goods cheaply (this is where China is today).
It's entirely another thing to INNOVATE and manufacture quality goods with your own resources. When at this point the USA being the superpower of the world will slip to #2. And correspondingly loose it's influence over many things other than just being the top of the GDP list.
So when futuristic companies with game changing tech get essentially bought out for a very cheap price and their 20 years of work and development get transferred overseas to be exploited by a foreign company; only that foreign company and foreign country are going to benefit--in spades.
What I read yesterday in Gamesc post and the post with the speakers at the magnesium conference:
China, China, China, China.
Nice find Pay!
Thanks for sharing, we all have something to take away from this.
Dumb question from a guy who should probably be carrying a flip phone; the buy/ sell prices you've listed: is that 25%-30% SP price increase the sweet spot that makes active trading LQMT worthwhile?
Meaning: it's easy to say Hey, I'm making 30% on my money; but to be an active trader in LQMT you have to deal with a not so liquid Pink Sheet marketplace, buy/sell enormous amounts of shares to realize your gain of 5 cents a piece, hope that the SP of LQMT is not stagnant, and there are those pesky taxes CIMA brought up.
You are correct, I would be much further ahead today if I was a LQMT active trader instead of a buy and hold guy. I would also be less bearish on LQMT in general.
I am think strongly that we should all be grateful at this point in time that LQMT is so small NOT to be influenced by world events i.e.: spontaneous US military action, a downward trend in the DOW, or actions by politicians.
The insanity in the world today puts many stocks in a precarious position, but not LQMT. Thank heaven for small things.
Lets get back to talking how LQMT is going to be used so many different ways in the Apple Car.
Remember all those posts?; It was a short year and a half ago. Wheel bearings, cylinder sleeves, and of course since it's an Apple product with potential LQMT use...Let's just make all the doors, bumpers, and chassis out of LQMT!
Let's bring back Project Titian, the talk of iPhones and Watches has been rehashed soon many times before. Boring.
Yes, manufacturing a LQMT Apple accessory would be a great place to start getting back into the cell phone market.
A better idea would be to make a logo'd item LQMT could sell to us shareholders. I believe the shareholders were the ones to purchase teethe bulk of the knives. Certainly they could get another $240 out of each of us.
Free Lamborghini Rides For iHub Members Visiting Orlando if LQMT goes to dollarland?
I Wish There Was A 2Q Conference Call
Because I think that we shareholders are owed the answer to the following question:
If CEO Li is absent from LF or RSM, who is in charge and what is the chain of command???
But being a realist we will never hear the answer to that question. Using history of past CC's, the prescreening when you get on the call notifies whom ever is hosting the call not to take a question from an individual investor (or rarely, if ever). Two, that is not a question or an area LQMT would like to disclose; it would slightly make management accountable--and there is nothing they dislike more than being accountable to shareholders.
You've touched on an important concept; Apple has not invested in manufacturing companies. Like most big business they want to subrogate all that liability and responsibility to someone else.
Also not to be ignored is that this investment is done to appease the current President. Long term (longer than 3 or 7 years hence) production and manufacture is likely to be cheaper overseas like it is today. Considering that I think what would best benefit Apple at this time would be to open some type of "assembly" plant on US soil (and it will likely be in California). I think assembly would mean taking the product and putting it into the box. Nothing to do with smokestacks, metallurgy, soldering, or any other industrial endeavor that somehow has some liability to it.
Apple does find itself on the receiving end of many, many lawsuits.
So it would be in Apples best interest to make the current administration happy so they don't tax or punish Apple one afternoon on the White House lawn. Doing some light work that could construe that the product was assembled in the USA yet leaving room for the excuse "Foxconn was responsible for the sharp edges, Sharp supplied the batteries that start on fire, or It's the Intel processor that causes cancer, not your Apple product"
I just plain don't see Liquidmetal getting a full-out body hug from Apple at this point in time.
In the years 2010- 2015 Apple outright bought small companies at the rate of 15 to 20 a year. Some years more, some years less. Those acquired firms were never heard of again.
During that time LQMT was certainly on Apples radar.Yet, LQMT was obviously left to flounder.
So, attempting to ignore the personal greed that an investor is trying to get something for nothing with his/her LQMT investment; what makes anyone think that Apple would chose LQMT as a manufacturing partner??? Particularly when LQMT has not made a damn thing in a year and a half???
Yeah, that's the kind of company Apple wants to crawl in bed with.
Share price = .16
I think there are a bunch of new amateur venture capitalists just like you and me who have recently purchased shares. Like us they are intrigued by the possibilities and like the cheap SP. You gotta admit jumping in on a stock that roughly sells for a lousy quarter and has extremely large percentage gains of late is a hard "bargain" to pass up.
The problem the newbies have is that they haven't experienced tendon repair, Engle swooning "a large European auto parts manufacturer", an American defense contractor looking for a new canard design, acoustic guitar parts, the Miltner Adams episode, hypothetical scuba parts, a never ending stream of patents tied to Apple, or a proposed chess set. I'm certain this spring/summer we will once again be fed just enough information to encourage speculation on a couple more LQMT endeavors that never seem to quite pan out.
There is a lot of recent concern that there those out there who are shorting the stock. And more who feel the SP is being manipulated. I truthfully don't know enough or care enough to learn how to "play" a stock; but this very well could be going on for all I know. But...I do ask If a person was going to short sell a stock, why would they pick LQMT? Not that I know any different but what I do know of the thousands of stocks out there to play, a Pink Sheet stock with a fairly stagnant SP of close to 25 cents doesn't seem to what might be appealing. The marketplace is not that liquid and you gotta buy a lot of shares to make that penny of movement add up to a large enough profit to make it worth your while. Maybe that's where the beginners start? Who knows? But we are likely to see more of this continuing cause it is working for somebody..
So I think the SP is going to trend down over time near term until there is one of those tid bits of information released that there is something new by some unidentified large corporation that has peeked interest in a BMG item. Once again shareholders will rush to judgement that "this is the big one." But till then newbies who are not true longs will be selling because they are not seeing the 200% SP increase they bought into.
Thinking today, I bet we do get a a 3Q CC with Li in attendance. Reason being Li has said there will be a meeting with Apple at about that time. So, I'm thinking Li will come to Lake Forest to showcase the facility to Apple (and the production capacity of the new Lake Forest Center of Excellence will be no where near what an Apple product will require BTW). But I think his main Apple goal is to amend the MTA so that it includes Eontec, roughly saying that Liquidmetal and Eontec are one in the same. I'm guessing the CC won't mention the Apple meetings or how they went even though I think they will go very well for Li and Eontec. I think Apple would be more successful having Eon produce a BMG item rather than the inexperienced and more expensive LQMT. How money would flow (if any) if LQMT had it's hand in making another product for Apple is unknown; even after the many microscopes posters here have put the MTA under.
I was also thinking today about that work visa issue and my perception that Li would require one; and how hard they are to obtain. I wonder if that will be impactful or will it just be glossed over???
I'll tell 'ya why I don't think there is a 2Q CC...
Because Li doesn't spend any time in RSM or LF.
Having him obtain the appropriate work visa and fly over here is a lot to ask because in his mind LQMT is an R n D department. Not a profit generator, not a business.
He doesn't feel any responsibility to us fellow LQMT shareholders.
No Q2 CC????
Those who have accumulated on top of there accumulation should be screaming. Those who have faithfully followed this company should be mad. Those new to this party should be asking questions.
JMO
As I have said before; buying at .16 or buying at todays price of .26 will not make a bit of difference on your sell date if the upside is as strong as many people think it is.
With the LQMTs policy of radio silence (discontinuation of the blog, no PR's, no white papers, no publicized research, no "forward looking statements") I believe we will see a retreat in SP....in time. As the polish wears off and as new investors don't see the publicized returns.
No, not everyone is onboard with the enthusiasm but you won't hear from us because our opinions are "off topic" .
A very well stated post.
Thank you for sharing!
No, never heard the name.
The authorized shares - the issued shares on the LQMT Investor Hub main page.
There are about 218,000,000 shares that LQMT has for sale.
Today was just another day.
If we made a list of every accomplishment LQMT has had over the past 10 years, sell shares of stock is by far the absolute #1 on every list.
BFD
What's NOT To Understand About Today's Trading???
Likely today LQMT sold a bunch of unissued treasury shares of stock; just like they do every Monday thru Friday.
LQMT took in a bunch of money for essentially doing nothing and still feel a complete disregard that those buyers somehow have equity or need to show the efforts of their work--ever.
Just more of the same song and dance we have heard for the past 10 years.
BFD
I completely disagree.
It's easy to argue that Eon has vast experience and lower cost of production for BMGs. LQMT's last production order was the 200 pocket knives 1 1/2 years ago.
If you are convinced as I am that because of the sharing agreement that Eon = LQMT, it will be Eon's machines that are used and Eon's BMG material supplier that are used; not Engle, not Materion.
No money for LQMT.
Sorry.....
If/when Li renegotiates the MTA, I believe he is going to basically say Eon = LQMT and the agreement will be written that way.
So, if Apple ever wanted a BMG product they will spend their money at Eon to create those parts because it is Eon that has an experienced, low cost production facility in place for years.
LQMT will read about it on AppleInsider just like the rest of us.
While it's nice for LQMT to be prepared how many places it needs to send the first declared dividend; I am surprised that "shareholders of record" doesn't mean how many proxy statements it sends out.
Strange.
I've noted this difference for a long time.
My concern is the 220 shareholders, there has to be many, many more than that.
If that number is not reported accurately; what else is not???
Definitely!
That meeting(s) is all about culture, ongoing relationships, diplomacy, and a lot more than the future use of BMG in an Apple product(s). Absolutely chess being played. Li has important issues to bring up and how he does so needs to be thought out in advance.
Another important part of Apple is that everything, and I mean everything goes through Tim and Jony. They micromanage everything.
Full disclosure, I own APPL.
Your points are spot on.
I ignored the Apple CE agreement for convenience. There is certainly obeying of that agreement that is going to need to take place. On the other hand, what is CE and what is not CE has been talked about for years here without a clear definitive answer.
Yet as many unicorns have brought up, there are all kinds of applications beyond CE. In a way if CE is going to be an obstacle, just focus on things that aren't even close. If Apple ever wants something CE, we talk in Cupertino. An interesting conversation, as Li has indicated approaching Apple in the fall. Interesting in that I don't believe you walk into Apples spaceship and sell them something; you certainly don't tell them something. Apple is a curious beast and they develop their liking on their terms; kind of the personality of a house cat.
I'm glad you stopped reading.
It's an opinion, nothing more. Contrary to a lot of opinions that have been said recently. Perhaps it applies to your investment, perhaps not.
If you stand back and look at LQMT today you can say some say this and others say that.
Thanks for giving my post consideration.
My interpretation of the sharing agreement is that Eon can use the LQMT recipe without paying back LQMT a royalty, a kickback, consideration, or user fee.
But Eon is also in the BMG manufacturing game, and has a lot of experience with it. They have their own R & D department, their own scientists, and their own expertise.
So I think it's likely they are working on LQMT and making it better. Or more functional. Or cheaper. Or combining it with what they know about Liquidmorphium. Or Magnesium. It's a big, big list.
