I've been expecting an act of desperation like this... actually i find it comforting... clearly someone(s) is/are becoming increasingly nervous... far from confirming ANYthing dire regarding S3D... for me the article confirms the desperation of those who are on the wrong side of this investment... jmo... glta...
Let's call this dancing with elephants...
Nice find. Google cannot allow Microsoft to claim dibs on S3D and glassware... jmo... glta...
what is that buzzing sound i hear? TWCN tech news... dockers, s3d, msft, containers... buzz, buzz...
http://news.thewindowsclub.com/microsoft-sphere3d-windows-containers-azure-75027/
funny he writes s3d claims "it can outperform"... you know who else claims it can outperform? microsoft...

You haven't really lost ANY money yet unless you do sell. Difficult to find peace when you only look at the ever mercurial pps. The only way to invest in nanocap and have peace is to stay focused on the underlying value of the company. It's assets. MSFT just announced to the world that ANY has a big asset...
With ANY paradigm shift it is frequently ludicrous before it is obvious... until tech people get their hands on glassware... kick the tires as it were... they often don't get it... sounds too good to be true... doesn't fit within their old paradigm... it is my understanding that everytime a tech person actually gets their hands on glassware... they are blown away... so the people who are most invested in the old paradigm are often the last ones to the table when the new paradigm arrives... jmo... glta...
expectations ran hot yesterday... no doubt... and you were not alone... but don't let it get to you... the very, very good news is the absolute validation of Glassware 2.0 from MSFT... the S3D pr of this relationship was good... the MSFT pr even better... Glassware is now officially validated as far as I am concerned... anyone who says otherwise is either hopelessly ill-informed or has an ulterior motive... so we can also leave the question of "if big?" behind regarding S3D... the new question is "how big?"... revenues over the next 4 quarters will answer that question for us...

My pleasure to contribute and then viking took our discussion to the next level....
I believe msft relationship has been in the works for roughly a year...
Outstanding post! Thoroughly agree.
great post... very interested in seeing the next three financial reports...
q4'14 and full fiscal '14 - 3/30/15
q1'15 - 5/15/15
q2'15 - 8/15/15
the q'4 info in the release you posted created some confusion which should be cleared up on 3/30... the 160 mil eoy "goal" is very, very conservative... a floor, not a ceiling...
q1'15 report will set the baseline for the fully merged company... making it a very important financial report... i am also anticipating improved margins and profitability in this report which if so, will impact the market valuation significantly...
q2'15 is huge... imo... it will establish trend of fully merged entity...
re: 180 mil current market cap... there is absolutely nothing material to support a MC this low... so i think you are correct... at some point long before mid-August the market is likely to rethink that valuation... jmo... glta...
short scenario is a bonus play which may or may not happen... the real deal is the company and its remarkable assets with or without shorts...
the cusip change will not force a short squeeze all by itself, even if there is a substantial short position... cusip is check... not checkmate... checkmate only comes with the increased demand of growing revenues, improved margins and clear profitability...
as we learned with Tesla... the trigger to a short squeeze is the financial report which demonstrates those three elements... jmo... glta...
What an amazing day... we now have MSFT fully validating GW 2.0 stating that it simplifies IT infrastructure... read increased efficiencies... while we don't (and won't) know all the details of the MSFT/S3D collaboration it is clear it is substantial... and will without doubt yield substantial revenues for S3D moving forward... from a long-horizon value investor perspective yesterday was amazing...
"Sphere 3D Corporation, whose Glassware 2.0 Windows container technology for application delivery simplifies IT infrastructure, has collaborated with Microsoft to support Glassware 2.0 on Microsoft Azure. The move means organizations now have the tools to make cloud migration of Windows-based, end-user computing applications from physical infrastructure to Azure even easier and faster."
"We are committed to providing our customers with new and innovative ways to implement their cloud strategy," said Vibhor Kapoor, Director of Microsoft Azure Product Marketing. "By working closely with Sphere 3D, we are able to continue to deliver on that commitment and provide a new level of flexibility for organizations looking for scalable application delivery from the cloud."
this is a little like going to the movies years ago when there was a cartoon or short feature before the main attraction... we are currently watching the short feature... and it is as entertaining as can be... but we paid for the main feature which is yet to come and will be the longer show... the developing business growth of ANY over the rest of 2015... 160mil... floor... ????... ceiling... i'm thinking a cathedral style ceiling design would look quite nice...
we are watching a chess match between ANY management and shorts... cusip change is check... shorts move now... revenues are check mate...
there are categories of evidence... hearsay, eye-witness, dna... dna can be a gold standard type of physical evidence in certain cases...
this weekend there was a lot of speculation... very fun... a kind of hearsay level of evidence regarding spiffy... the material developments often cited here on ihub and well known by those of us who follow this stock closely is a kind of eye-witness evidence... revenues are the dna evidence here... dna evidence takes time to process...
q1'15 financials due no later than 5/15/15 will provide the quarterly baseline for the fully merged entity of S3D... q2'15 financials will establish the initial trend... they are due no later than 8/15/15... many types of evidence may be introduced between now and then... but we know when the dna evidence will be available... the market loves dna evidence... jmo... glta...
fascinating speculation over the weekend... time will tell what's what... my favorite line from Scott's awesome update...
"While it’s fun to speculate on what Sphere 3D may or may not be doing and with whom, what Spiffy HAS ALREADY done so far certainly makes this a Big Stock in our book."
What we know is already enough for significant gains... if ANY of the speculations pan out... bonus... only a matter of time until the market catches up with the reality that is S3D...
ooops... right you are ef hutton...
Bluefin are awesome compliments to whales. Seriously I have great respect for your posts which you have earned over time across more than one of these message boards. Did you ever work at Merrill Lynch, because when you post I listen.
Interesting hunch.
it is so difficult to turn a company the size of microsoft around once it has lost its edge... the new ceo has indeed done a remarkable job... MSFT has rediscovered its mojo... he took over on 2/4/14... wonder when he first noticed glassware???
maybe the ubiquitous glassware on a chip... wonder if intel will be interested in manufacturing it?
i'm long guys but i can't figure out which part of the S3D business is most valuable...
Here is my response to the same question posed 3 days ago... it has not changed...
As others have stated volume is a big piece of the puzzle... below please find a quote from Ian Cassel with a link to the article "Conviction to Hold." Well worth a read... imo...
I have other confirmation which is meaningful to me, but i will not share on a message board, so you are left with little choice but to discount that as meaningless... i am confident the early institutions have arrived and are accumulating... more to follow... jmo... glta...
http://microcapclub.com/2014/08/the-conviction-to-hold/
"As a microcap investor who invests in companies with little to no institutional ownership, I want to hold for the institutional rally. When a management continues to execute on a great story, at some point it’s going to attract institutional inflows. You will see this when an illiquid stock all of sudden gets propelled by a sustained period of above average volume. Hello Institutions!"
excellent series of posts... thanks for taking the time... very much agree... whales are disciplined investors (that's how they got to be whales) and they will not drive price up unnecessarily... right now there is no upward pressure on stock price... whales will not create it by bidding against themselves... but they are accumulating... and as you say with each passing day the float is getting more and more into the tight grasp of strong hands who understand how to value this company...
whales absolutely do not care about your unrealized losses... they will be quite pleased if you turn those losses into realized losses by selling your shares cheap... they love a bargain and are glad to take your shares and your worries off your hands...
amid all the speculation about what is to come it is easy to miss the very real fundamentals that are playing out in the S3D product line... in addition to the repetitive and overwhelming validation of glassware from multiple sources we have very recent evidence that rdx technology is doing well in South Africa through a reseller called Drive Control Corporation...
http://www.storagenewsletter.com/rubriques/oemchanneldistribution/drive-control-corporation-distributing-tandberg-rdx-systems/
http://www.hrfuture.net/knowledge-management/tape-storage-continues-upward-growth-trend-at-drive-control-corporation.php?Itemid=147
Please know this is NOT your father's RDX technology... this is the next generation product recently introduced to the market... the next generation product allowing for improved margins...
And then there was this St Patty's day release...
http://sphere3d.com/sphere-3ds-v3-hyper-converged-appliance-shows-leading-linear-scalability-and-desktop-workload-performance/
"Utilizing industry-standard Login VSI (www.loginvsi.com) software, Sphere 3D’s V3 appliances demonstrated industry-leading performance of virtualized desktop workloads, compared to publicly-released performance reports from other hyper-converged and traditional solutions providers."
So yes... a lot to look forward to in the development of GW, but also significant indicators that the rest of the product line is doing quite well in this very competitive space... 8.15.15 looms large on my calendar... 2015 is the year of ramping revenues for S3D... jmo... glta...
agreed... and i think in respect to yesterday's discussion regarding the need to pr a relationship before 3/24 event... i believe the 3/9 announcement likely meets that burden such that an NDA wouldn't be necessary... though an NDA remains an option for ANYthing material that is not yet to be disclosed... most of us thought the 3/9 pr was timed for Roth Conference... and maybe it was... but maybe it was also timed for something else... as the 3/24 event was announced shortly thereafter... all speculation at this point... a bunch of wags... but fascinating speculation nonetheless... jmo... glta...
so if you are right and i am wrong... i am quite happy...
"This blows the ANY has to be silent BS out of the water.."
??? seriously... you do realize Docker and S3D have two completely different business models and approaches to monetization?
Docker's approach is open source... that is they are giving away their technology for free so that developers can play with it and help develop it... it would be more than a bit silly to speak about the need for stealth with a product that you are giving away to the public... Docker's approach makes it easy to get recognized... easy to create a buzz... but it is difficult to monetize... their CEO came from a background of open source strategy... their goal is to have a lot of people use the product for free and then monetize something like 10% with specialty applications for high-end users... remains to be seen as to whether or not their approach works, but it has certainly created a buzz...
S3D's approach is to make GW a proprietary software... here the issues are completely different... it is much more difficult to get the product known... but much easier to monetize the product if it is effective... with proprietary software the need for stealth is quite relevant... in part to protect the product... and in GW's case quite likely also to protect the competitive advantage that GW provides for the partner's product... so no... the answer is simply, no... with all due respect... this does NOT "blow the ANY has to be silent BS out of the water"...
It is my opinion that 160 mil run rate by eoy, 40 per quarter is floor not ceiling. Some folks are likely to be surprised at how high the ceiling goes... re: stock focus on volume not share price... re: business focus on revenue, then margins, then profit.... jmo... glta...
I prefer to not get too high or too low regarding ANY specific event... preferring to stay focused on the material business developments of which there are many... I think next week is likely to be a non-event regarding stock as msft is unlikely to reveal ANY secrets.
I can't speak to the specificity of ANY working relationship between s3d and msft... clearly there is one and it is developing... I will also suggest this relationship has been developing for awhile now... starting well before ANY pr's to that effect...

Agreed. We will know through quarterly revenues. 8.15.15
I think your joke about Derek connecting the dots was pretty darn good. I agree with your statement that MSFT will not reveal the secret ingredient in the sauce if it is GW. Why hand that to your competition?
pith perfect advice...
How do we know this is GW?
If it is, what makes you think MSFT will reveal the "secret source" in the secret sauce?
Well said. Great post.
"Love to hear these Tech Experts give a BIg Thumbs Up for GW!!!"
me too!!! GW has been validated as a customizable solution to some significant problems over and over again since its launch in early 2014... ANY fud-makers who say otherwise are either tragically ill-informed or profoundly disingenuous...
2015 is all about scaling out GW... there is a sizable business in the customized GW solution... but even bigger numbers in an "off-the-shelf" type application of GW that can be scaled in a huge way... S3D is utilizing the education vertical to develop "proof-of-concept" applications which will demonstrate this type of scalable capacity... 2014 was the foundation... 2015 is all about scaling out with GW... jmo... glta...
