Yup me too. All in at 39+
Still have all my core though. Just riding the waves.
Looks like he was right. I'm going to grab some more down here.
Right there with you.
They are restricted to 20% of their average daily volume. maybe 25, I forget.
Either way they cannot dump there whole load allotment.
And that probably benefits us anyway, sustained upward pressure vs. a tsunami one day.
dang I wish I had swooped some of that at $36… Been too busy all morning to check in.
my guess is after the new year.
I would call it a final payout or final settlement, as that's clearly their intent.
But that's semantics, call it what you will.
And BTW, outside of hoping (praying) for a bump when the integration comes off seamlessly, that's really the only bright spot I see for a while.
imho
There's a piece out calling it the most hated stock. That has some traction. It certainly feels that way.
I'm wondering if it's just a ton of trapped buyers between 51-41 saying "F-it!, I'm out"...
Of course, logic dictates once they're all out... Could be nice boost??
Yeah, couple of strong press pieces out today.
I'm diving back in at 38-39.
As I posted last week I had exited all my "fluff" at 46 and later more at 41.
Btw that only makes me lucky, not savvy. When earnings hit I saw the AH and almost choked. But now I'm glad. Can't figure this stock out. Head scratcher for sure.
Yeah I'm beginning to think this might just be a day trading stock. I'm usually pretty optimistic guys you can tell from my posts. But with $5 billion in stock buybacks and record profits still not been enough. It appears the only people buying American airlines is American airlines.
I'm sorry, did somebody want me to post something? I was too busy filling my coffee cup with vodka.
The answer is yes. There's definitely a chance.
Several months back American airlines petitioned the judge overseeing the bankruptcy to release the remaining funds. They felt there are far more funds in the pool than are needed to cover the remaining bankruptcy claims based on current share price. However the judge denied them feeling it prudent to wait a while longer. Some on this board have posted that the rumors are a year to year and a half, but no one really knows. That's the thing about bankruptcy. You are no longer in charge, The judge is. But it is a very good sign that they attempted to do this. I have a high level of confidence that there will be additional funds left over after all claims are settled. And this will be distributed to the common shareholders. It is clearly their intention.
I'm right there with Ralph. I've been in longer, since AMR.
My big hope is for an additional/final payout from the BK pool that will make us aamrq-er's 100% whole. I believe we're 72% ?? (memory hazy)
It may be another year but I believe it will happen. As to the PPS by then… who the hell knows….
Yup. Welcome to the new normal in America.
If you don't get what you want out of life, sue someone.
"Stick it to the man!"
Yeah, I sold some ahead of this yesterday.
As I posted earlier, I'll deal with wether I guessed right or not. Clearly not. Oh well, that's the market. Deal with it or don't partake.
I just don't see any reason why the weekly beatdowns won't continue. Hoping I'm wrong of course, my core is still intact. GLTA
I hear ya man. I'm pretty sick of this BS, and then the lawsuits…. ugh.
Not my style (pessimism) but I fear a long slog to anywhere near 50.
I've made my decision, I unloaded a bunch here. I'll have to live with the ramifications.
I have to give in and agree on this one.
It feels like a good amount of resistance for a while.
We would need some amazing news and financials to recover the lost ground.
And based on what I'm seeing in the market, I'm not sure that would even matter..
Ah yes, good old Adam. One of our staunchest supporters since the beginning.
I still remembering him advising investors to wait a while and see, before buying AAL, until it "stabilized".
That was back around $15- $20 pps. Glad I listened to him (not).
i hear ya man. I'm getting pretty tired too. we can't seem to catch a break.
i never would have seen this lawsuit stuff coming. that's pretty socialistic even by obama standards. wow. the great entrepreneurs and industrialists of yesterday are spinning in their graves.
holy anti-capitalism batman.
Yup. Scary stuff.
See? Have faith.
This may be the new normal for much of '15. (I'm hoping I'm wrong though)
But with most of the buybacks still ahead of us, and reservation system integration still coming, I believe there are blue skies ahead.
Maybe not as quick as we would want, but they're out there….
He's absolutely 100% accurate.
If it will mean dingess, we'll see..
Thank you. I'm glad somebody said it.
Well, make up your mind, is there too much capacity, or not enough? Are prices dropping? Or being held up?
AAAAARRGH!!
In the words of Ed McMahon...
You are correct sir!!
You got that right.
The only thing missing is him presenting (selectively) excerpts from charts in a time range that appear to support any thesis he presents.
Classic analyst/chartist charlatan bullshit.
Don't forget the sec rules specify limits on how much they can buy daily. It's a percentage of the daily average.
So don't expect to see 200 million shares one day and say wow, buy backs. They have no choice but to do it incrementally, strategically and over time.
I love the silence. I'm guessing no one wants to celebrate and jinx this. :)
Yeah, I'm taking my investment advice from a site called "BIDNESS". No thanks.
And if anybody else does, you deserve what you get
I thought so.
Thank you.
Wowza... Those are some sweet numbers.
I went in heavy on transports, and then doubled down years back.
While I'm thankful for that I am the first to admit it was a risky and thusly lucrative play. But it did leave me without the capital to move into biotech, etc.
So in all fairness I have to acquiesce I missed the boat on other sectors and companies as a result. These are clearly a selection of them. Good on you for picking these.
Yup. You are not wrong.
I'll tell you what's not ugly.
A stock I bought a ton of at $4.pps is now worth $39.50 pps.
Don't let your opinion be swayed into making foolish or regrettably risky choices.
Invest in well managed, profitable companies (or ones that weren't previously but have become so due to changes) and hang on to them for the long haul.
Yup. I was thinking that too.
Jumped out of a few thousand fluff shares up at 48-50 (sale price) that I had picked up around 40-42.
So this reversal hasn't been too painful. That being said, watching my core shrink still hurt plenty..
Well remember a good percentage of that is worldwide demand fueled by international growth.
Because all those really kind, progressive minded countries now have great manufacturing bases. You know, like China and Cambodia and Malaysia. And Myanmar.
I know you disagree Ralph, and I'm not in any way pleased, but I'm wondering if this crap isn't trapped buyers I was talking about.
Seems to me there's a lot of folks behind the eight ball from 50 down. Hoping I'm wrong.
Again, nobody hopes so more than me.
Believe you me, nobody wants you to be right more than this guy here.
But there's a lot of trapped buyers out there from 56 and down. It's going to be a bit of a slog to see 45 again, IMHO
and man do I hope I'm wrong.
Yup. Amen.
Figured he'd jump back on board. Enjoy the ride up boys!
please oh please oh please
Yeah, do yourself a favor and don't check it every day. It's going to give you an ulcer.
Or worse.
…. gulp...
