The logic of EDIG selling on line is further strengthened by the fact that Circuit City, may have big sales, pushing flat screen T.V. with no payment till 2004, but I doubt if they would do the same with Edig products...
You are right...The cohort that would be interested in a TREO15 does not "need" to go to Good Guys and "Feel" the TREO. They would just as soon pay $100 dollars less for it and buy it on the NET...

tolstoy00...IS THERE AN IGNORE BUTTON ON THIS BAORD...

D.inkie...
I bet Edig is making more money selling the Treo15 @ $132.30,
than consigning them to Retailers and hoping to get 20%...
No wonder they junked the retail business, mainly because it created major cash flow problem and made no sense...

TREO 15 PRICE COMPARISON....
1) MP3 COM........................$159.00
2) mp3mall........................$169.99
3) Edig.com.......................$189.00
You may qualify for a 30% shareholder discount at EDIG.com (just ask and see if you get it--I got it when I bought an MXP100), which brings the EDIG.COM price down to $132.30...
Not bad for a unit that tops i-pod per Mp3.com...

Add to it this e-mail I got from RP, on Fujitsu's almost $1 million, of which EDIG had completed their part,(inferring that the $1 million was received in Q-3), and the picture become cearer...
e-mail from RP, on Fujitsue payment:
"Thank you for your e-mail and support. As stated at the shareholder's meeting, Eclipse by Fujitsu Ten is completing their portion of the project and based on their forecasts, the first generation telematics product is scheduled to be available in calendar Q1 2003; this is when these revenues
are expected to begin being recorded.
Best regards,
Robert Putnam
Senior Vice President"
Whether it be retail, or OEMS, it seem the company has decided
to "Count" as revenue, only when the payment is received, or at best, when the "Customer" sells the product to the end user...
This way, there is no more room misunderstanding as to the "Revenues." They can sign all the "Agreements", have all the "Partenerships", but none of them are of any Revenue significance until the money is received, or at best the widgets are sold to the end users...
Thus, the IFE contract got some money paid in advance for production of widgets for the "Major Airline". It will realize
the additional revenues when they are delivered to that Airline, and as they are used by end users ( the recurring revenue) part of it...
Hope, this sheds some light on where we are headed...

Asking questions is not shameful, nor inquiring about what the meaning of words used by the President of company are, is tantamount to bashing...
I did know about the Fujitsu10, and raised questions as to why it was not included in the Revenues for Q-3...
After the rereading of the 9/25 letter of the President, I could see the "wiggle room", even though statements were made to the effect that Edig completed its part of the work, and their payments would be approaching $1 million...
Regards...Gilgamash...
Edigokie...
Someone had paid us $1 million last quarter...
I recall statements to that effect from Fred or RP...
Originally I thought it was Fujitsu-10...
On rereading Fred's September 25th "Presidents Letter" I saw the "Wiggle room" in that letter...
Then I read what follows...

(This msg. is a reply to 1078133 by Seaquestor.)
Sea: Evidently they "delayed the 1 million from Divx to thr present quarter. I was expecting 1-1.3 million with that revenue so there was net surprise of 0 for me on earnings. The last line in the report said they would have OEM announcements in BOTH nov. and Dec. if......IF ...that comes true I'll be happy.
My Bad...If you can not remember the source of the $ 1 million payment during Q-3, and if you disagree with rwrf, I could reaserch it further...
Regards...Gilgamash...
lickily...
Under the September 25 Presidents Letter, one can explain the Fujitsu payment as being the same as retailers; that is, EDIG will log it paid when the widgets are sold to the end user...
But what happened to the Divex $1 million?...
I thought that was paid already...

If what you say is true, then management must have decided to let the pps go south and attribute it to the JC fiasco, keeping the Fujitsu money in the Hip pocket to, (A) shore up any shortfal in the Holiday Season Quarter, or (B) use the money to produce and drum up O-1000 and show a strong Quarter for the year end...
Oh well... After three years, I give up guessing what these guys are doing. I just buy more anytime the pps drops another 20%...Lol...
Makes sense, I guess...

Once you accept that RP'S job description states he is VP in charge of investor relations, you can see that he can not give written responses to the questions you pose...
As history shows, he has said a great many things in the past to placate inqisitive shareholders, which over time have come to be non-statements at best...
Then there is the NDA screen that he has hidden behind in the past...
To me, he is doing an excellent job of what he is supposed to do, keeping shareholders interested and placated...
The reason he wants you to call him is the simple fact that there would be no written document to juxtapose with "official"
company "yarn" described in Fred's "President's Reports."
If everytime Busy Bump called RP and reported of what was said had come true, the pps would be in the teens by now...But, time
has a way of taking a toll on the best laid plans of mice and men...
Simply put, RP would have been in quite a bind if he had given all those responses in writing, and in my judgment should have been fired...
If you call him, he would probably give the best answers he could, but your report of what was said would be a mere heresay
and subject to disclaimer if things did not materialize as said...
The only way to measure the success and failure of this company, like any other company, is to assess if they have been able to execute on their Business Plan, and are they making money...
In that regard, one looks at what they aimed to do, what were the modifying forces on their trying to achieve their objectives, and have they been making headway in becoming a viable force in the niche they have chosen to compete in?...
Talks with RP and the rest are so much side show...
Good Luck...

I am glad you have elected to express your thoughts in a more comprehensive fashion...
To be able to "see" through the haze of basher one dimentional
statements flooding the boards dealing with EDIG , is a "gift" few are lucky to possess...
To articulate it in the form you have done in this post, is the difference between bashing and mere opinions hilighting the "negatives" of the tortous path EDIG has followed these past 3+ years in attempting to bring its unique technology to the market...
Lawyers, plumbers, housewifes, dentists, etc. do not need to have a Ph.D. in computer Science from MIT to be endowed with this "gift" you demonstrate in this post...
To express themselves on matters relating to EDIG they only need to have the ability to read and do enough of research to conclude that EDIG has suffered from "Innovator's Dillema", compounded by collaping equity markets...
There has never been a question of whether EDIG had a unique
"prodcut" to bring to the market. The question has always been "When" they would be able to succeed in their business plan...
For some, this has taken too long, making them bitter... I am glad, however, that you "see" the proverbial "light at the end of the tunnel", and have elected to buy 5000 more shares...
Good luck to you...

You, of course, are right in stating that DATA PLAY was the one that "failed" not EDIG...
In fact the recent change of direction by management was an indication of a "lesson learned" by EDIG management who did not wish to end up in the same "Pit" as DATA PLAY, by borrowing several million to flood the shelves of retail store with gizmos with no concrete assurance that they would end up getting all the items returned within the 90 day window demanded by the big retail store...

Richard Osborne is correct in his supporting every person's
FIRST AMENDMENT RIGHT to express their views, negative or positive, about the direction the company is taking...
Certainly, there must be a distinction made between legitimate cirticism on the part of shareholders of the ZIG ZAG policy changes by the management, which cause percipitous drop in the pps of the stock, and concentrated one dimentional "Bashing" by the worms that occupy other boards...
How shareholder's view the operations of the company has a direct bearing on the immediate value of everyone's investment in this comapny. And, it is no less significant than any other "Fact" that we hope to learn about this company by being members of this board...
