Major Retailer Begins Sales of CBD Around the U.S. as the Market Continues to Develop
9:00 am ET March 28, 2019 (PR Newswire) Print
Decades ago cannabis was illegal in essentially every country, now, Canada and Uruguay are the leading countries who have moved to legalize cannabis entirely. A handful of other countries such as Australia, Columbia, Germany, and the U.S. are also major cannabis marketplaces, even though they have not legalized cannabis entirely yet. However, cannabis remains a Schedule 4 drug under the Single Convention on Narcotic Drugs, which is the strictest regulation. Nonetheless, the rapid emergence of cannabis has prompted many companies to seek entry into the industry, which is seeing investments pour in from various sectors such as alcohol, tobacco, and most recently, the pharmaceutical industry. CVS Health, a major international pharmaceutical chain, recently entered into the cannabis industry by offering hemp derived CBD-based products in its stores. Due to regulatory conflict, CVS announced that it will only sell the products in specific U.S. states such as Alabama, California, Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland and Tennessee across 800 stores. CVS also said that the chain is carrying CBD products now to help these select states meet consumer demand for alternative care options. CVS' initiative to add a cannabis derivative on its shelves is yet another major milestone for the industry, adding credibility to the benefits of cannabis by highlighting that its hemp derivative offers consumers therapeutic effects. As more sectors continue to enter into the cannabis marketplace, the industry will develop into a global, disruptive scene. According to data compiled by Mordor Intelligence, the global cannabis market was valued at USD 7.7 Billion in 2016 and is expected to reach USD 65 Billion by 2023. Furthermore, the market is projected to register a robust CAGR of 37% throughout the forecast period. CLS Holdings, USA Inc. (OTC: CLSH) (CSE: CLSH.U), Aurora Cannabis Inc. (NYSE: ACB) (TSX: ACB), iAnthus Capital Holdings, Inc. (OTC: ITHUF) (CSE: IAN), Intec Pharma Ltd. (NASDAQ: NTEC), AXIM Biotechnologies, Inc. (OTC: AXIM)
CVS' Chief Executive Officer Larry Merlo mentioned in an interview with CNBC that he's received feedback from many CBD consumers, saying that it has helped them manage medical conditions such as pain, arthritis, and other ailments. Furthermore, international agencies like the World Health Organization have conducted studies regarding cannabis and concluded that current research is sufficient enough to reevaluate the current international control of the plant. Last year, the World Health Organization Expert Committee on Drug Dependence (ECCD) met several times to discuss the matters of cannabis. The biggest takeaway is that the ECCD noted that pure cannabidiol or CBD can be effective in treating certain medical applications such as childhood epilepsy, which the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has already approved Epidiolex as a treatment. Additionally, the ECCD also mentioned that cannabis helped patients manage side effects of conditions such as HIV/AIDS, Parkinson's, dementia, and muscle spasms. However, the ECCD also highlighted that more research and studies are required in order to fully understand cannabis and its effects. As clinical trials continue to release positive results, cannabis can inch closer to becoming an approved and registered form of medicine in the future. "Medical marijuana is an early sign of the change in the view of cannabis," said Jordan Waldrep, Portfolio Manager at USA Mutuals Vice Fund, "The legalization of medical marijuana and cannabis-derived drugs represents a significant change in thinking for the societies that have chosen to allow its consumption by patients. Then, as patients see benefits and more research is done, the concerns on the potential for high abuse or severe safety concerns come into question as well, thus opening a path to recreational marijuana over time."

"We are very pleased to be advancing our medical cannabinoid development program as we believe the Accordion Pill's gastric retentive technology is ideally suited to extend the absorption phase of THC, with the goal of a slower rate of rise and more consistent drug plasma levels after oral delivery. The combination of the slower rate of rise with sustained and consistent plasma levels is expected to lead to an improved therapeutic effect and reduce the adverse events that are correlated with rate of rise and peak THC plasma levels," said Jeffrey A. Meckler, Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Intec Pharma.

Helps Canadian Medical Cannabis Patients Receive Reimbursement Under Drug Benefit Plans
EDMONTON, March 28, 2019 /CNW/ - Aurora Cannabis Inc. ("Aurora" or the "Company") (TSX: ACB) (NYSE: ACB) (Frankfurt: 21P; WKN: A1C4WM) announced today that the Company and its wholly-owned subsidiary CanniMed Therapeutics, have added product information numbers (PINs) to 78 medical cannabis products to better facilitate and track insurance coverage for their Canadian patients. The products that received PINs include dried flower, capsules, soft gels, topicals and oils.
Aurora Cannabis Inc. (CNW Group/Aurora Cannabis Inc.)
PINs help employers and insurance companies classify and incorporate health care products into benefit coverage plans. Patients submitting claims to their third-party insurer can now identify specific products and thereby speed up the adjudication and medical coverage process. MedReleaf, another wholly-owned subsidiary of Aurora, introduced PINs to 57 medical cannabis products in 2018.
"This is great news for insurance companies, employers and most importantly our patients," said Aurora CEO Terry Booth. "Introducing PINs for medical cannabis products will make the claims process more seamless, enabling insurance companies to add these products to their formularies while providing patients and employers with a simplified process to complete claims. It's another step toward enhancing patient access, something Aurora cares deeply about."

If this bill passes tomorrow. What can we expect?
I am betting it passes. I just bought back in.. Lets do this!
A cannabis Mall would be amazing if this was the 90's. I haven't been to a mall in 5 years I think
If the bill passes. Will it benefit Canadian cannabis co., or USA cannabis co. more? This is tricky for me. Potentially this might cause a bunch of USA penny stocks to explode. I wouldn't want to miss out on that.
-- Aurora Cannabis (ACB.T) got a boost when it attracted Nelson Peltz as an adviser. Peltz is an accomplished person and will certainly be a big help to Aurora Cannabis. Momo crowd money flows in Aurora Cannabis are positive but smart money flows are mildly negative.
Maybe 2019 is different. Last year days like this in this sector would trigger week long drops.
acb shares at 2.13 is sweet... Lucky guy. I chose organigram at 2.32 instead of ACB when it was around the same price. Wish I grabbed ACB instead.
It is still going down. If didn't launch from 8.68. To much resistance. it's not done going down.
I'm sure a lot of people weren't paying attention. I figured I would alert them. I tried to warn you guys. Just trying to help.
ACB investments are taking a serious beating
The entire canadian weed sector is going down
I sense an intentional mass Ecoli/Salmonella outbreak any day.
Watchout below! Timbeerrrrrrrrr!
Maybe they should. I have been calling it almost perfect since the $4 range on ACB.
Unless you got this under $3 or $4 with a ton of shares. Than I say just hold and go long. If you got this at the $5 range or higher. I would flip it
You get tired of watching acb drop 2 to 7 dollars all year after big runs. I am waiting for big news or a lower price to get back in. With 1 billion shares it is not a stock you want to be a 2 time trader yet.
No I am not a shorter. I still own shares of acb. I sold most of them in the 10's. I am being a realist.
Good luck.. Seems the whole sector is like a tired over sexed looking hooker who needs a break. The Cannabis sector as a whole with their 50 million Prs a day needs a slow down period to bring the excitement back.
You already know the shorters and flippers are taking this down like they always do. I don't think any news other than a partnership or buyout will bring this past 10.50. This is going to $8 or less no doubt about it. I wouldn't be surprised if we see 8.45 today.
I love the stuff. So do my customers.
Fins coming prolly by March 31st. Expecting great numbers
They were making 2 million a month all of 2018. Somewhere around 24 million. It's an OTC pink stock.
Not bad considering ACB is at over a billion and trading at $9
Diamond CBD isn't called that for no reason. It's the best CBD you can buy. CVSI products are total trash compared to Diamond CBD.With so many crappy and fake CBD companies. POTN has to be the best future investment on the OTC just about.
2.7 billion O/S. is not letting this thing go past .02
We need strong news or this is going to $8
Tilray is over rated.
Is OG DNA genetics the same as DNA genetics? Lot of bud smokers will only smoke OG's. Quality move. Anyone think CGC or ACB will acquire POTN?
The Great Marijuana Shortage Shows No Signs of Letting Up -- Barrons.com

Legal cannabis shortages were still a problem in Canada in early 2019, several months after the country began recreational sales to adults, says a report this morning by broker Cowen. A survey of five provinces' online weed availability in January shows that nearly half of all items remained out-of-stock on marijuana e-commerce sites. But in the relatively-populous Ontario, supplies were better, with 61% of listed products actually in-stock. In New Brunswick and Newfoundland & Labrador, however, out-of-stock rates increased.
"While it is difficult to assess how much of the change is demand versus supply driven," wrote analyst Vivien Azer, in the note, "our view is that demand remains strong with an improving supply chain." Cowen surveyed online shops in Ontario, British Columbia, Alberta, New Brunswick and Newfoundland & Labrador.
Among Canada's large producers, Canopy Growth (ticker: CGC) had the largest share of in-stock product on e-commerce shelves, with a 21% share in Ontario, while Aurora Cannabis (ACB) had 12% of that province's online market. Tilray (TLRY) and Cronos Group (CRON) each had 4%.
After a month when Canada's pot stocks mostly wandered sideways, Canopy is flat this morning, at $44.44, while Aurora is up 9% to $9.37. Tilray is up 3%, to $69, while Cronos has jumped 6.3% to $20.21, a day before it reports December-quarter results.
Dry flower marijuana made up about three-fourths of all products at Canada's online shops, noted Cowen, with the remaining offerings consisting of capsules, oils, and pre-roll smokes.
"We continue to believe that the category will look very different in late 2019," the analyst wrote, "when vapor, beverages, edibles, and other form factors become available."
Prices for dry flower held firm in January, according to Cowen, at $10.22 Canadian dollars per gram (or US$7.56). Pre-roll product commands a price premium, for its convenience, but Canadian consumers had cause to celebrate, as pre-roll's average price fell 4% from December, to C$12.88 a gram.
I'm liking HempSmart Brain. The patent is huge! This product should definitely be in CVS and Walmart soon. It's the type of product these church people all over the country would sell. Very similar product to Healthy Living Essential Oils and Vitamins. My mom used to sell the stuff in the 90s and early 2000s with her cult friends. Now my old friends wives are doing the exact same thing with their cult friends. Some of them are making really good money. This is the type of product those types of people would be selling and, lots of it. It would probably be a top Item. They have a lot of super strange brain dead looking people at these churches that need some serious HempSmart Brain. And they are crazy about the word networking. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
Your on here to! smart man.
I like it! I like it a lot... Yes I do.
