yep, i don't understand it. She just keeps sinking away.
Geaux, i love all that techno babble stuff that works ok when a bull is loose. But money is flowing out of the markets at neckbreak speed right now.
Pull "bullish" and insert "bearish" etc. Rinse and Repeat for the next 3 months.
could care less.. maybe 2 quit. What are 2 employees???
LOL, europes second largest steel maker reports an expectation of a -15% growth this year. US Steel, Nucor, and many others are well capitalized too. Cash wise, and profit wise the US companies are in much better position than anyone else. We can sell ours for profits, others cannot due to our weakened dollar. What the US market doesn't have is growth. The companies will survive (I think). We may have some other consolidation occur with the mini mills.
I also know that the world position is worse than we are told. I have it on good authority that the production figures we are hearing are being fluffed up to incorrect levels by direct involvement of world governments that are attempting to stop a mass panic. Nucor is blasting at under 30%, many others are down to that level or lower. Russian steel mills are taking furnaces off line, etc. Crap is bad.
You don't understand where that ties to everthing else though. Steel is a major consumer of massive amounts of mining materisls and other raw products. There are massive amounts of mines pulling out specialty metals that are used in mixing of steel. All those are grinding to a halt.
Mining only has 2 major products. Coal and metals.
Raw, these guys as much as dead in the water. Watch the sunami that is rolling right for their happy little island.
I said awhile ago that this thing was going to poop out due to things outside thier control. The question now is if they can weather the growing fiscal tempest.
I think HR personnell have taken to simply going out on the web and providing a cut and paste from another job listing onto thier company letterhead.
I'd be willing to bet that 99% of those "intelligent" sounding ads were placed by people who could be summed up as 3s dressed up as 9s, they are likely attempting to kiss their bosses butt by taking and reusing something they think makes them sound smart.
Sorry Wiz, keep your chin up.
Same all over Wiz, us too. Scary as hell.
Can you arrange a link when you quote "news"?
This isn't news, this is anyone with an agenda and an internet connection diatribe.
I suggest watching and reading the BBC America for a 3rd party observation on the subject.
BBC news reporting that security has increased to the point that they are dismantling the blast walls that were erected. Iraqi people are overjoyed, they report business and normalcy returning very fast.
The signs are there, Iraq 09! Go Dinar Go!
ROFLMAO...... truly "hardcore" cruel there. hahahaha
I hate to say it, but i agree whole heartedly. I think we are at the slide level of the Great Depression. Enjoy the fast slide to the bottom this first Q is going to bring. It'll be alot of work after that to get back right.
In so far as stability is concerned, you need to watch the BBC. They are reporting a far different world than what you published. Yes attacks still occur, however they say security has improved greatly and the country is ripe for investment and development.
They report that the major concern is whether the investment and development will come fast enough. They do say it's coming though.
IMO, Dinar is on the up. I'm not expecting mass miracles of waking up rich monday........ but who knows where things can be in 4 years or so.
I don't know about that...... i'm not sure i'd believe they are selling 1 million cars a month there. Figure is way to out of line for the population.
Unless of course the car bombers are about to go nuts.... oh joy.
The BBC has been reporting on the status of iraq for awhile now. Very promising but on a edge as well. I'm betting with the smart money that they will pull through. I think the people are demonstrating that they want peace.
good luck Z
which makes me correct. LOPsters are for eating.... ummmmm maine Lopster with butter
sounds like a reval to me..... if they wanted to issue new money, then who has the contract? Who is going to supply all the new price tags for commodities in retail?
If this is true, then invest in paper because Iraq is about to burn alot of it LOL.
.0008 to .8?????????? (Brings greater purchasing power to iraq)
or
25000 to 25 ????????? (Does nothing to increase purchasing power and is a total waste of financial resources)
Which improves their standard of living. I'm betting on .0008 to .8
I've stayed out of the market, so far it's appeared to be a smart move...... i think the 1st q is going to be a "watch out below" move.
Steel is about to get butchered.... many layoffs etc.
what ya pushing??? don't strain little lady, i'll get AA to help you LOL.
Aero, have you considered that "LOP" can go another way. If you "LOP" three zeros from the exchange rate you go from .0008x to .8x
Now, they don't need a re-issue for that. Besides, a total re-issue of currency is not only a pain in the butt for everyone, it's also very expensive. It costs money to buy new bills.
You keep talking of this LOP as fact where in my opionion it is fiction. They would need other better reasons to re-issue than a simple numeric symbol.
It doesn't matter what is printed on the bill, whether it's 25,000 or 25 as it's going to have the same purchasing power. A total re-issue is pointless and would only create confusion in the market place on cost and price of items. These people have it in their minds that a loaf of bread cost ( X ) amount of Dinars... they are not going to simply wake up the next day and think "ok, today it's 1 dinar not 1000". The "lopping" is the most IDIOTIC thing i've heard of in a very long time.
I think you are simply stirring the pot with 'LOPPING' talk. What would be the real reason for it???? There are none.
No sir, but watch the steel sector. I expect PPS's across the board to plummet when they start reporting what is going on. Things are bad out here.
Happy New Year Susie, Chris, Tina, AAbro, Zeph, and all the great folks that like to associate and share information, ideas, and just good conversation.
May you all have a great year of happiness and hopefully make some extra money too.
I think it's going to plummet again after the 4th Q reports... What i see isn't a house of pleasure developing, unless of course your into being whipped. LOL
And it needs to stay there, gas at 4 bucks.... we were robbed. Let's send in the military to retrieve our cash.
I wonder how this list will read at the end of next year....
1.8 billion barrels of oil a day?????? typo.... perhaps??? lol
I agree in part. The capital expenditures by governments will help the commodities. However, i think we're in for a real dandy of a fight for survival. I think the reports from the end of 4th Q are going to be horrible for the retailers.
What i see in this area is dismal really.
MERRY CHRISTMAS
well surely their dollar is nearly on par with ours as we are starting the printing presses soon. I think we're all pretty well screwed in one way or another.
If our dollar deflates and the IQD inflates in comparison IMO, it's still a goldmine for us. If you are debt free, then wait till it appreciates. If you are not debt free and you hold the IQD, then you may be able to exchange it and get debt free. Either way, good for us as i see it.
trillion dollars, considering the rest of the world going to heck in a handbasket...... they'll pay it off for pennies on the dollar by desperate governments attempting to save themselves from this coming Depression (although i think it's arrived and here to stay for a bit.)
lol, i'm watching :)
gonna be ugly tommorrow
stay out, i've got a massive email to send you. Large PDF file.
You too, little ole AYSI appears to be pushing along. I hold no stocks and don't intend to buy until 1st Q 09 after they report the dismal sales numbers which IMO will crush the market.
Just to much bad news, it has no affect on this company in general....... but when everything hurts, even the hidden gems lose luster.
That is very good. I am cautious of the price of the stock at being sold off with the rest of the market.
The company though appears to be kickin arse.
Hanging on by the skin of our teeth. We need those govt building programs to ramp off. That will help alot.
If that occurs, steel will pick back up. There is still alot of slack in ore though. It's going to take a good part of 09 to soak it up according to the World Steel Dynamics that was given in paris france.
Keep dreaming, they are taking down blastfurnaces now in russia.
09 will be a wash.
RIO TINTO laying off 40,000 worldwide according to BBC. Currently employs 97,000.
BHP abandons takeover bid last month.
Prepare the collapse of mining.
good job, wish i had taken a piece of that one for sure.
