Texas Motor Speedway president Eddie Gossage wants Michael Andretti and Al Unser Jr. to continue their driving careers at least one more race – at his place.
Gossage announced that he is offering a $100,000 sponsorship fee if Andretti and Unser Jr. would compete in the Bombardier Learjet 500k on June 10. Both must participate to activate the sponsorship, with their teams splitting the sponsorship.
The IndyCar Series has raced at Texas Motor Speedway, which is celebrating its 10th anniversary, since 1997.
“You have two legendary racers who clearly have the desire. They have the skill, obviously. We wanted to include it as part of the celebration of our 10th season. I hope they take us up on the offer.
“Running in the Indy 500 this weekend proves the competitive juices still flow in both of them, so we thought providing the necessary sponsorship support would give them sufficient reason to compete in Texas.”
The drivers have not competed against each other at the 1.5-mile, high-banked oval in Fort Worth. Unser has made eight career starts at Texas Motor Speedway, including a highlight of his illustrious career in 2003. Unser outdueled Tony Kanaan to win 0.081 of a second. Andretti, in the race car for the first time since 2003, has not competed at the speedway.
“I’d love for Michael to finally have a chance to run at Texas Motor Speedway, especially side by side with his son Marco, and show our fans up close why he is considered one of the best of all time,” Gossage said. “For Al Jr., it would be a special moment to return to the site of his last visit to Victory Lane.”
The drivers received the invitation before Miller Lite Carb Day practice and didn’t have an immediate response.
My wag is dead tired, ugh...
I say it dips to around $6.30 Tue or Wed, then closes at $7.05 on Monday. Taking 1 week to form the handle off the 3 month cup.
Quiet before the storm...
No explanation needed
consumerreports.org rates Macbook Pro better than all other laptops with highest rating of any.
Stating:
MACINTOSH Best tech support and less vulnerability to computer viruses and spyware.
It is also the most expensive, but you get what you pay for.
3 mo chart shows a nice cup formation here, think I'll get in on the next dip... if it ever does!
That would be a nice addition to the GS610 family.
Plus he gets to stand next to Danica, lucky guy.
Skimmed through it a little. i am definately going to DD this, chart looks great!
Following Ivanna - always considering new investments or trades though.
Thanks!
They are doing better. Baby is home now and getting better by the day. Wife is still stressed but handling it as well as can be expected. She is the best.
You've got your own private little heaven here.
iHub's best kept secret.
Not dead - just languishing. Need the proper momo.
Luyendyk's product rollout will help...
some really good news from Indy 500...
New lines added to Quadriga...
Revenues that will show growth...
I think Herta has a good chance at Indy.
Last year he finished 3rd place.
3 of AG racers finished in top 10. Of course the winner was Wheldon who is no longer with AG. He is an excellent driver.
Clay Aiken's hair!
Maybe it was Prince and Dionne? Hahaha
Should have been a half hour show.
We are watching a live feed of the crowd outside the Kodak Theatre. There must be thousands of people waiting out there.
Prince?!? Is that still his name?
This is just weird.
i don't even care who wins now
Brokenote Cowboy's - this is ridiculous!
She's been around the block a few times
You missed nothing.
I am forced to watch the crap... at least I get paid for it! LOL
I agree - the live pre-show looked like it was produced by a group of grade schoolers... oof!
American Idol Finalist Chris Daughtry May Turn Down 'Fuel' Offer
By Gene Byrd
May 24, 2006
While all eyes were on the American idol final two in last night's contest, star in the making Chris Daughtry is mulling over whether or not he should accept the offer to front the rock band 'Fuel.'
Chris Mulling Career Direction
It seems like a pretty good match, they are a ready made band and if Daughtry fronts, their brand name soars immediately. But it appears that Daughtry may turn down 'Fuel's' offer, according to a report from TMZ.

The web site reports:
The band offered Daughtry the gig 13 days ago after his surprise elimination from 'American Idol.' But TMZ has learned that Fuel isn't expecting a thumbs-up from Daughtry, and has started to look at other options.
But if Daughtry does decide to go solo, his options will be limited, thanks to the exclusivity clause signed by all the contestants from this season's 'Idol.'

TMZ cites the stranglehold contract that American Idol places on its contestants and gives details that basically paralyzes contestants from doing anything showbiz-related until three months after the show's grand finale.
The contract prohibits contestants from entering into "...any talent management agreement, talent agency agreement, recording contract, songwriting contract, acting contract, modeling contract, sponsorship contract, or any merchandising contract ...until three months following the date of the first broadcast of the final episode announcing the winner of the competition."
The exclusivity clause goes on to say that if a contestant signs a deal in violation of the contract, 'Idol' producers "shall be entitled to injunctive and other equitable relief." Translation: a judge could quash the deal.

Daughtry certainly should be fine either way - he has the voice and certainly the polish to be a star.
Kat's come along way, remember the "flash"?:
Nice pic of Kelli B4 the show started:

Story: Andretti honored as fastest rookie in field
Marco's performance at the 2006 Indy 500 will reignite the legend of Mario Andretti (and of The Greatest Spectacle in Racing) which will burn white hot bright once again for the next 15 - 20 years.
plus two racers in the Freedom 100, the pre-Indy race
Chris will be singing too. They have a couple of group numbers.

LOL!
I don't run with anything. Too much sweat would kill any electronic device. Went hiking with a camera in a backpack once, and ruined it.
I agree, it's an exciting proscpect, but the new baby saps all funds right now. New Nano is definately not an option... yet.
With an artist whose initials are MJB
The only one I can think of is Mary J. Blige.
Anyone else?
Elliot will sing a very special song tonight, a little birdie told me.
What if you don't have a nano? And would like to use this cool new product.
They should make it for all models of the iPod. As a runner I wouldn't buy the nano just for this function, I'd want to use my video iPod.
