Sent, correct. PPS moves due to shareholder interest and not necessarily due to the current bottom line results.
You can say all you want about the tech bubble, but much of that movement was coming in anticipation of future earnings...in fact the entire dot com phenomenon was due to the forecasting of future earnings for all things internet related. The PROBLEM was that future earnings did not materialize, as many dot coms had no business plan. And those that did met with an economic downturn not seen in decades.
While earnings to the bottom line need to follow to sustain the move up, evidence of a growing line of products in multiple markets is what the market is looking for, IMO...real deals, real products and the confidence that it will continue to grow.
Should EDIG nail down the ECLIPSE opportunity this March when ECLIPSE enters The Good Guys, and there is evidence of success there, followed by talks of incorporation into production line autos down the road, the market will likely trade in anticipation of that opportunity.
The same holds for the WIRELESS PLATFORM and the possibility that it will be part of an entire generation of devices via brand labeling. AND should the IFE product reach its audience simultaneously, EDIG looks like an entirely different company, IMO.
In other words, it's FUTURE EARNINGS, followed by a reasonable expectation that these earnings will materialize, that will drive a stock's price. Of course there must be evidence that this is occurring.
At today's PPS, few would consider this a pricey range for a company making waves in so many industries. Most of the investors who helped drive this stock to $24.50 were very excited about the prospects at that moment in time. In the ensuing years, with the realities of the world markets, some have left, some have turned to try their hands at day trading while others have held and added... but the fact is that interest has waned while we live through these tough economic times. In the mean time, EDIG has not sat on its hands, but has learned some harsh lessons and has adapted its technology into new and old markets.
It will be NEWS of real deals and evidence of these deals reaching fruition that will once again add value to this company and create the perception of the stock being undervalued vs overvalued.
TODAY we are faced with weak financials sitting on a powder keg of potential. And, all of these budding markets, IFE, auto infotainment, MP3 jukebox, and wireless platforms appear to be evolving simultaneously.
The current weak financials will become meaningless should one or several of these ventures become a market reality. At that time, the market will once again view EDIG in a positive light.
The Odyssey 1000 is out (YEAH !) and now we await the ECLIPSE and IFE product lines...not to mention the wireless platform finding its legs. (OEMs in our future)
Note the new pop up window on the EDIG website--no longer the TREO but rather the Odyssey 1000 launch !
O-1000--Up to 8 minute "Anti-Skip" Protection...
Digital FM Tuner w/ 12 Available Station Presets...
Five-Band Equalizer with 5 Presents,,,more exterior packaging info.
I have to say this packaging is quite nice. The unit itself is encased in a box with the box and when you peel off the thin seran wrap cover off the Odyssey 1000 the mirror face jumps out at you...my staff ooouuu'd and ahhhhhhh'd when they saw it.
Slowly breaking into the next level of packaging.
Esthetically, it's awesome.
Andy, I couldn't agree more.

Very encouraging news Gilgamash !!!

I have my odyssey 1000 :)
Also, upgrades allow for continued contact with the consumer. This keeps the company in touch with its customer base, via email, continuing to add value at no charge beyond the original purchase and keeping EDIG "in touch".
Also, any content website features would find a captive audience for any new developments.
I like the firmware upgrades beyond the purchase point. Adds value, IMO, and are easy to do, as evidenced by the MXP100 upgrades.
"Now for info about the units.
They say that the units are stable as can be. They also have informed me that within 2 weeks a new firmware will be out, and another 3 months after this. Some time within the next two firmware updates they will stick in the Calendar option (BATTLE THE IPOD) and also OGG support. That's right; they are flexible as to the encoding options they support. We're looking at the future development of all popular audio encryption codexes!
They also want input from their customers. They will change the functionality as per the mass of the customer's requests. In other words, if the customers want it, it will probably happen! This is a company willing to go where we want them to!"
Sentinel, how many units will be in the second shipment to EDIG from Korea ? Any idea ?
NICE !!! "If this is half what I hope it is, there's some big competition here that will push MP3 players into the next level."
****************
Now for the news and stats. Within 15 minutes of allowing orders they got 62 orders. They have a total of 1000 units in stock now and another shipment on its way from Korea. They believe their 1000 units will be out of stock on Saturday. So that means if you don't buy before roughly Saturday you will be put on a 2-3 day backorder, so you'll wait an extra week to get your unit.

I have already ordered mine and I will post a follow-up of my true opinion next week. If this is half what I hope it is, there's some big competition here that will push MP3 players into the next level.

Nice, EDIG already getting written up about the O-1000 launch.
Odyssey 1000 RELEASED!

Printable Version
Today, the 31st of January Edigital changed the availability of the Odyssey 1000. They have 1000 units in stock and another shipment on the way. The units look promising from the little company!
In development is a calendar option for the firmware and Ogg encoding support. Edigital is also very open in adding new encoding formats and they desire to change the units to match the needs of their customers.
As the Odyssey 1000 was mad available for purchase on their webpage, within 15 minutes they had 62 orders. They expect to be sold out with these first 1000 and then all orders will be put on back-order for 2-3 days while their next shipment arrives.
Now all that's left is for someone to get a hold of one and post a review. Mine will be in my position on Monday, so expect to hear from me again.
Peace out!

cksla,
My perspective comes from, not the initial orders being placed, but rather from hoping that the product will now be recognized and integrated into a bigger scheme, whether we are talking about the 0-1000 or the Eclipse unit or the coming wireless platform or on the IFE front...and all of which could pay dramatic dividends.
Getting that product out is just the first step and a big step to making things happen, AND I am not worried about being exuberant about this happening.
phil, we don't make the weather, we make it better !
By the way, it's you that gives the daily weather report.
CDR, should one or all of EDIG's product development fronts hit and $.20 will once again appear as the deal of the decade, IMO.
The Odyssey 1000 shipping today is just a first step in seeing this begin to happen.
OT: 80 + degrees here in Southern Cal...and the Odyssey 1000 is on its way !!!
Nice Day !
phoenix, or 3)a significant development is revealed, whether that be in the auto industry, IFE, new wireless protcol or some other product development arena.
did I forget to mention the coming of wireless ????
4 years ago a patent and a concept, today the "standard" hits the marketplace...one otcbb that is based in reality regardless of how tough of an economic environment we are currently in...

friendlyfred, do you know the cost of an O-1000 ? At $349 EDIG is making a tidy sum, since there is no middleman, and the company receives payment immmediately upon the sale...very different structure from the retail model.
It remains to be seen what type of demand will ensue but when you are generating significant profits, production should increase.
notechie,
I was operating under the assumption that Apple had sales of 4 million this past year. I now see that it was 600K, mostly to MAC users.
I guess I will have to refigure my guestimates.
I agree that ultimately retail is the golden ring but if management is to stick to the higher margin etail sales then it is up to them to devise a tactic which would drive buyers to the EDIG store.
Their first order of business is to sell out this first launch, which should be no problem.
Still too ambitious ? OK, 12,000...
that's 1000 per month, or $4.2 million gross...one product.
I wonder if Apple projected $1.6 Billion in year one for their MP3 player.
Well, it all begins next week !!!
Sales of only 750 Odyssey 1000s yields the company's monthly burn rate.
4 million ipods were sold last year.
1% of that volume, or 40,000 O-1000s yields $14 million with margins likely in the 30%-40% range via the website, in my guestimation.
Are sales of 40,000 annually realistic ? I think so.
Please double check the math.
milplease, so it's like a prepayment of sorts.

"DivXNetworks also has a number of partnerships with major chip companies, including ESS Technologies, Philips and Texas Instruments, which are all developing DivX-certified DVD players, portable players or video jukeboxes."
Nice to see growing acceptance of the DivX technology and more growing markets.

sunpoop, I ask you this, who then is making payments to EDIG if indeed, all this wild speculation is true ?
stone-mason, I think corporate corruption issues would preclude an airline from trying to falsify their records. Besides, there are too many employees watching the rentals who would not benefit from such illegal dealings and would probably revel in blowing the whistle against any corporate efforts as this.
In today's environment I doubt there would be any concerted effort to deceive e.Digital. There is probably a way to monitor usage, as well, since it is a closed system.
jtdiii, I can remember the days when many made statements like, "why would I ever need a computer".
Business models evolve as do their markets.
In Flight Entertainment is an existing market undergoing change due to a combination of economic pressures and technologic innovations.
EDIG has the opportunity to partake in this market. I will wait to see if they can take the next step in becoming a player here.
Certainly it's not the technology that's holding them back.
