Potential is HUGE.
Steve said that the first market they are going to attact with ClipStream are web developers.
I was curious how big this market might be. How many web developers are there? Very difficult to get any numbers on this. Anyone know?
Closest thing I found was from the website of James Blake Internet, a leading web developer in England. The info show 2007 numbers. In the internet world 6 years is an eternity so we can only assume very large growth since then. Here's what they say:
"So, how many are there?
A survey in 2007 showed that more than ten million people had made a website at one time or another. With another five years having passed, that number is sure to have grown. Some 2009 calculations showed that they estimated approximately twelve million people around the world were ‘professional’ website or software developers, in that they received payment for their skills in some form. Of course, with the number of freelance web developers now working across the globe it is very difficult to put an exact number on how many there are in total. Looking purely at Elance.com, one of the web’s main freelance marketplaces, there are almost 100,000 individual web developers registered on the website, giving just some indication of the number of skilled individuals out there.
As internet usage continues to grow throughout the UK, western world and indeed throughout the world as a whole, it seems inevitable that greater numbers of web developers will enter the industry. With more and more businesses deciding to get online nowadays (in fact, the vast majority already are) the need for talented web developers is now greater than ever, having created a whole new industry which simply did not exist just twenty years ago. In times of great economic uncertainty, being able to put approximately twelve million people into work due to the evolution of a whole new industry is something quite extraordinary and could even be credited with having taken the sharp edge off of the worldwide recession. Either way, it’s a huge industry and it’s one which is only growing larger with every day."
So if just in this segment Destiny signed up 5000 @ an average fee of $200 per month, it would represent $12M in annual revenues which would be a 10 fold increase from current revs.
Nice review Pete.
Steve is definitely a low key guy. But isn't that pretty prevalent among Canadians other than Rob Ford?
"Looking at the O/S on QTWW now, I'm assuming they had north on 200 million shares when they split"
QTWW currently has 12.5M shares outstanding. That is after a 1 for 4 split. So prior to the split they had 50M shares outstanding.
"Reverse splits get a bad wrap sometimes"
I usually don't like them but what you say is true. A stock I have been trading lately is QTWW. On July 31st with the price at .48 they did a 1 for 4 reverse split. The next day the stock opened at 2.35 and has been on a tear ever since. Closed today at $7.15.
Before the split the shares had been trading between .50 & .70 forever. So it worked out well for this one. Like XXII they had around 50M shares before the split.
Looks like there's big money to be made in Cloud stocks.
ICLD went from $2.50 to over $16.00 in the last 2 trading days.
Not sure if they are a competitor of or potential customer of Sphere.
Van - They seem to be located in your neighborhood. Any info on them?

Pre-launch trials have been going on for months. This from the July Conference Call:
"So at the end of the last quarter we announced that we would begin paid commercial trials on market research industry, a good way to think of Clipstream is that currently we have an engine that works well and plays really well. But currently we're the only ones who are able to use it and we haven’t launched any encoder software yet.
So we started selling Clipstream to a small number of trial market research companies actually agreed with three so that they could pay us to use in the real world environment and so we could find problems and tune the engine. So, we offered it the servers where we would encode and host the videos on their behalf and they could use our engine to reach the clients. So, we haven’t put on any news on this, but the trials actually went extremely well and we've been expanding offerings to the entire market research industry."
"CCI, I'm starting to like you more and more."
Be careful, I'm not all that lovable. LOL.
" My point was that institutional investors are some of the savviest people on the planet."
Here we would have to disagree especially when it comes to their knowledge of and following of tiny companies like Destiny. I'll bet you make more on your money than if you turned it over to an "institutional investor". Their returns are just not that spectacular and one reason why is that they tend to be much more conservative than you and I and are also limited as to what they can invest in.
I have much more confidence in the opinion of Van who specializes in
companies like Destiny than I do in 99% of institutional investors.
Sorry star,
Much to early to try to determine a price target. Those are usually established based upon a multiple of eps in relation to growth. Since at the moment earnings are 0 and growth is 0 anything regarding eventual price would be only WILD speculation. I try to stay away from that.
Hi dow18k.
Bet you're glad I talked you into buying MITK. Hope you do as well with DSNY.
And, no the additional testing by Destiny didn't have anything to do with the price drop. That's actually a good thing and shows how diligent the CEO is in order to get this product to be the best it can be.

THE SKY IS FALLING! THE SKY IS FALLING!
NO IT ISN'T. The sky is still up there and pretty soon the Destiny Cloud will be floating around up there servicing thousands of customers.
The recent price action seems fairly easily explained.
On October 14th the share price was $2.15. Today it is $2.06. If someone had gone to sleep on the 14th and awakened today they would think nothing at all had happened. Of course that's not the case. On October 15th the headline blarred: Destiny Media Technologies to Market Disruptive "Play Anywhere" Clipstream® Streaming Video Cloud Service at the Seattle Interactive Conference"
I think that was a bit misleading. Not to the well informed Destiny investors on this message board, but to the general investing public. It sounded like finally ClipStream was going to be let loose on the 28th, that web developers were going to be gobbling it up and that Destiny was going to be immediately raking in big bucks.
The volume in DSNY shares spiked from an average of under 100,000 to a high on Oct. 22nd of 242,000 and the share price hit $2.93 on that day. Naturally, much of that was probably traders who were happy to sell after around a 40% rise in a week. Then the Seattle conference came and went with really no exciting updates and other newcomers probably were disappointed and began selling. The move down was fairly undramatic on low volume until the final drop yesterday.
So here we are, back where we started. Only we are that much closer to the ACTUAL MARKETING of ClipStream. When that really occurs is when we will know if our faith in the company and its product will pay off in huge profits. What has happened in the past couple of weeks will then become just another insignificant event that created great hope and some despair but really had nothing to do with our eventual success or failure. Hopefully in the very near future we will look up to the sky and see a lovely rainbow intersecting the ClipStream Cloud leading to a big pot of Gold.
How old is your computer?
What kind of processor?
How old is your modem?
What browser are you using?
Even on my old computer I got speeds of 20 mpbs and more but it wasn't until I got a new computer, new modem, and started using Google Chrome that I could get the excellent G2 quality I now get.
All Destiny can hope to do at this point is to have the software adjust to the wide variety of computers, band width speeds, browsers, etc. to get the best quality they can out of each. Since the price of computers keeps going down, bandwidths keep going up, excellent browsers like Chrome are readily available, it shouldn't be long until the vast majority of users are able to get great quality out of ClipStream.
My results of new tests:
All four new tests played without any rebuffering.
QUALITY:
#10 Fuzzy
#11 Good
#12 Excellent
#13 Bad
Speed Test: 19.76
Google Chrome
Dell Inspiron 660s
My results:
- your browser Chrome
- OS Windows 8
- computer speed Intel i3
- bandwidth as per the speedtest. 16.46
All videos played through without interruption.
Tests 3 - 6 & 9 far superior quality than the others.
Hi geo,
Sorry, but I just don't buy Technical Analysis on these low volume, low priced story stocks.
If G2 finds acceptance and Destiny starts to sign up customers, the share price will fly. If it doesn't, it won't.
It's as simple as that.
Even worse than being wrong, is being wrong and BORING.
You have been putting the identical negative messages on this board since DSNY was .60.
They are not based upon any facts or reality but rather upon your extreme dislike for Steve Vestergaard. It seems obvious that you had some type of relationship with either Destiny, Yangaroo or Steve some time in the long ago past and ended up with a bitterness you do not seem to be able to shake.
Asked a friend of mine (computer geek ex IBM employee) to check out the demos. Here's his reply:
"All 3 tests played the same - continuous, no interruptions at all, quality couldn't be better. Did not listen to sound as I was in the office and didn't want to disturb others."
Good time to bring out an ANYDAYNOW oldie but goodie.

Re: commoncentsinvestor post# 2643
If you had any COMMON CENTS you would not INVEST in this POS
ANYDAYNOW
So on April 10th the share price was .79.
ANYONE who had taken ANYDAYS advice would have missed 222% return for the last 6 months.
Now today he says: "Can’t believe that most on this board are so gullible!!!!!!"
I think any reasonable person with his track record in this stock would be EMBARRASSED to even show his face here let alone try to continue to give advice.
CONGRATULATIONS VAN!
It looks like Sphere 3D has become a 10 bagger since it's 12 month low. I know that your immediate goal for a BIG STOCK is to become a 10 bagger. Most of them don't happen so quickly. Great Job.
Apology accepted. Thanks.
I think your previous message regarding reports of video quality would have been more appropriately stated as "across a very narrow spectrum of computers" if it was just based upon posts on this board.
This morning I also tested the new videos on my wifes computer which is an Acer laptop. Her signal is WIFI from my computer so her speed of 9.23 mbps was about 1/2 mine. This was on Google Chrome and Windows 7. Again, the Test #3 was the best quality. Unlike mine though which played flawlessly on my computer, hers paused very briefly (probably about 1 second) 4 times.
I asked her what she thought of the quality and she said it was really good and that she would be happy if all the videos she watched were that good.
Disclosure: She does own 3000 shares of DSNY in her little investment account but she really doesn't pay any attention to this kind of stuff so I accept her opinion as genuine.

I have gone back and read several of your messages on this board. After doing so I find that over all your messages have been honest, positive & informative. So I am not one of those who believe that your recent negative messages are being done with some sort of ulterior motive. Although I do VERY MUCH resent your assumption that myself & others who have reported excellent quality from the demo videos are simply lying or hyping.
You now say:
" It is not, because whether one agrees with my experience of the video, it is clear that the quality of the video across the wide spectrum of computers and devices is too variable for the cross platform selling point - - at least for now.
1. How do you know what the ClipStream video quality results are "across the wide spectrum of computers"? All you have reported is the results on your computer.
2. Using You Tube quality as the standard, what percentage of viewers of ClipStream videos must receive that quality in order for ClipStream to be successful? 50%, 75%, 100%?
3. Did you test the new video? If so, what were your results? Did you report your results to Steve? Would you post those results here as I have done? Thanks.
Here are my results that I sent to Steve:
Hi Steve,
Just tested new video.
Speed Test: 17.89
Computer: Dell Inspiron 660s about 4 months old.
OS: Windows 8
Browser: Chrome
Auto Detect took less than 2 seconds
All 3 videos played without any issues
Quality of tests 1 & 2 was OK.
Qality of test 3 was GREAT.
Great.
I thought if it had been a couple of days ago that the videos I watched last night had already been updated.
So that means they might even be better by Monday.
It would be nice if on the demo website Destiny put a date as to when the last updating on each video was.
Thanks Phil.
What was the date of that email?
I think Steve's answers confirmed that posters here are not lying about the quality of the videos (either good or bad), but just that the quality one receives can vary widely depending on a number of factors.
"Beauty is in the eye of the beholder."
Again you are implying that those who have reported ClipStream quality as good as Yahoo's are either lying or are unable to determine the quality they are seeing as well as you are. What's with that?
While there is some truth in the saying you quoted it doesn't apply here. We are talking about comparing side by side 2 videos of exactly the same thing.
"Just saying what I see limits the G-2 market, at least initially until the quality improves, if it can. That's all"
Why do you say "if it can" when both cabel and I have said that we are getting ClipStream quality that is as good or better than You Tube. Evidently you think that we are lying, right?
That was sort of a strange statement about what the share price does tomorrow. I really don't think the "market" much cares about what you and I say about G2 on this message board. LOL.
"let everyone judge for themselves "
I think that's what I was doing. I was judging it for how it worked on my computer, with my browser, and with my internet service.
But, what it proved to me was that if I could get that type of excellent quality than others probably can too.
And, believe me I am not hyping it. Back when the demo's first came out I was a big critic. I was using Explorer XP and they didn't play on that at all. Then I switched to Google Chrome. But I still had an older Dell computer so although the demo's usually played (not always) even when they did the quality was poor and they would start & stop. It wasn't until I got a new computer and new modem and Destiny improved their product that I felt comfortable that G2 could be successful. With what I saw tonight I think the sky is the limit.
Quality was FANTASTIC.
It's been a long time since I played the demo's. Just watched Star Trek & Gravity. They played perfectly and the quality was as good as anything I get on You Tube. Played them in full screen on 21" Monitor.
I think like many internet things that what you get depends a great deal on the type of computer, the type of browser and your Internet Provider.
I have a Dell that is about 4 months old, Google Chrome, and Cox Cable using the next to highest speed service. I think it's called Premier.
Just to make sure I was not giving bad info, before posting this message I went to You Tube and played the same Gravity trailer. I could tell no difference between it and the ClipStream demo. If anything ClipStream might have been a tad better.
"How many times will Destiny be challenged, what will that cost, how big is the war chest? There's a chance this could get ugly, esp. if Clipstream is all that -it's the way the world works when huge money is at stake - good to have some cash on hand, that's all I ever meant."
No, that's not all you ever meant. Back at the time of the repurchase announcement you thought it was stupid and that the money would have been better spent on marketing.
Besides, if Destiny's patents are challenged, the little bit of money they spent on the repurchase would be just a drop in the bucket as far as legal expenses are concerned. I currently own a stock (MITK) who is in a patent lawsuit and their quarterly attornies fees are about $1M.
Why don't you just admit that you were WRONG about the repurchase and we will all forget about it.
Here's the actual figures (from the 10Q) regarding how many shares were repurchased:
"During the nine months ended May 31, 2013, the Comp
any repurchased and cancelled 156,650 shares."
I forget the exact average cost of these shares but I believe it was probably in the neighborhood of .65. That would put the total cost at $101,822. The value of those shares today is $438,620.
Though I agree that the repurchase was not done for a pump, I do believe that it helped the share price at the time. For those who were shareholders then, you will recall that the share price had fallen from about .90 down to .60. The announcement of the repurchase stopped that decline in its tracks. Who knows what might have happened if they hadn't done it. The drop might have continued and sometimes panic sets in and drops get vastly accelerated. The repurchase announcement basically corroborated that the management felt the share price was undervalued and they were willing to spend some money to back up their belief.
I think their original intention was to retire the shares they repurchased like they had all the other repurchased shares. I don't know if that has happened with these. If not they could sell them and at todays price they would have an additional $337,000.
Anyone who claims this buyback was not a good thing would only do so in order to try to justify the displeasure they expressed about it at the time it was announced. The facts definitely prove otherwise.
I would have to say regarding Vans picks that the glass is overflowing
I see. That makes sense if Van requests posters to suggest other stocks. I just don't know if that's the case.

Actually, I would never think of posting about another stock on the HTFBS board. That is Vans board and should be limited to stocks that he recommends.
ONE MORE QUESTION.
Nice to get a variety of opinions on this.
I would also like to know who found DSNY because of something they read on another stock message board.
I know I did and sons4 did. Anyone else?
OT - QTWW Update
A couple of days ago I suggested taking a look at this one in the low $5's. A few minutes ago Craig-Hallum initiated QTTW with a BUY and a price target of $10. The price shot up over $6 immediately. I just added some at $5.71.
