China's mobile gaming market up by 62 pct in 2008
Statistics released by Analysys International show that the whole mobile phone gaming market in China reached 1.365 billion yuan in 2008, up by 62.67% from the previous year, and will reach 4.208 billion yuan in 2011.
The JAVA-platform market accounted for 72% of the total market, the BREW-platform market for 28%.
Revenue of JAVA-enabled mobile phone online games grew rapidly in 2008, increasing 138% to reach 142.8 million yuan. The main reason behind growth was the strengthening of independent operation and promotion capabilities of content providers (CP) and service providers (SP) of JAVA-platform mobile online games.
In 2008, a new batch of gaming companies, such as 3GUU, officially entered the mobile phone online gaming market and launched various kinds of new products which became popular among users. At present, there are already over 50 mobile phone game developers in China.
The compound growth rate of the mobile phone gaming market between 2008 and 2011 will be 45.54%. The high compound growth rate will be mainly driven by users' increasing demand for leisure and entertainment applications, commercial use of 3G networks and rapid development of mobile phone online games.

China Mobile article, - China's Mobile VAS, Content, Portals, and 3G Application Market in 2009
Analysis and research on the China market for mobile VAS, games, content, and portals from Asia Pacific Research Group
China's Mobile VAS 3G Application Market Research Abstract
3 Jan 2009 | Sector: Mobile | Country: China
Ringtones, mobile games, and mobile applications continue to evolve and are now firmly entrenched in the mobile landscape in China. Chinese mobile users actively seek out new games, videos uploaded on Todou, or a friend's updated blog in 2009 through their mobile connections. Mobile VAS services are ubiquitious and aggressively promoted by NASDAQ listed portals such as Sohu, Sina, Tencent and Netease, as well as the mobile operators. Despite the global economic downturn in 2009, the MVAS sector will remain healthy, with mobile games and music continuing to be very popular in China's youth market.
Whilst consumer spending in China will slow in 2009, the MVAS (Mobile Value Added Services) market in China should be resiliant. The upcoming deployment of 3G networks will enable a far broader and deeper market for mobile applications. Some of the key notes outlined in this research report include:
* Chinese consumers will continue to embrace MVAS in the recession as long as the content is fresh, compelling and intersects with their lifestyle.
* Casual gaming is a VAS sector that is still going strong in the China mobile market. 2008 saw unprecedented growth as subscribers sought and downloaded the latest casual mobile games with enhanced content and graphics.
* China Mobile's development of a mobile applications storefront can eclipse Apple's App Store. China Mobile is actively campaigning to sign-up content providers to sell their software applications, games, music, and other products in their application portal. China Mobile is the world's largest mobile operator with a subscriber base in excess of 440 million - more than the total U.S. population.
* The number of people sending text messages (SMS) across China will stay strong, and the growth of picture messaging is finally catching on. Enterprise mobile email will have broader and deeper penetration in Greater China as enterprises cut back on travel.
Denise Yu, lead researcher on the publication, also provides a forecast of the coming 3G application market in China. "China's mobile service providers will spend about $36 billion on 3G mobile networks over the next two years. The demand is good to strong for affordable handsets and applications that can play music, games, and access the internet. As long as the applications are appealing, affordable, and creative - the consumers will respond. Winners in the MVAS space will invest passionately to bring a small number of big ideas to market in 2009."

Whoo hoo indeed. Like some of the basic calculations on AMCG from todays news for the three(3) months ended October 31:
Approx: 1,700,000 new users x $7.00 per game is $11,900,000 revenue per quarter.
If that continues at "just" the same pace for a full year?
11,900,000 x 4 = YOWZA.
That's not taking into account the already established users that will continue.
Should be expecting huge things for Aimco Games Corp. going forward.
