That volume and ramp was all about burning the NOV 2.5 put buyers. The stock closed right at the strike on expiration day.
I had 35 call options expire pennies from value. That was extremely manipulated and it dropped right down again the following Monday.
I lost $1,000 on those options. NSPH only has option months every three months, so it was worth somebody's while to play games with the price.
It will probably trade around $2 for another 3 months. Just watch.
MF4
Let me put it bluntly. This stock trades about $1M of volume in an entire month. This is a penny stock. Some guy with $50K in his account can churn this every day and slowly ramp the price up. Then dump all of his shares at a top.
If this stock really had something brewing, the volume would spike up along with the price. it's still just idling, even if it went up 3 cents today, the volume was only 300K, That's only $200K worth of volume the entire day. But, considering that the average daily volume is only 75K, I will put it on my radar.
MF4
I wouldn't get too excited yet. I have been in this thing for about 2 years, and the price has stagnated. There are always small cap biotech stocks that have great claims, but never seem to ever develop. this may be one of those too.
I'd rather pay $2/share if it's about to take off than have 3 times as many shares and watch them go to zero. Been there and done that with CORX. They were pretty hot for a while too, but never developed.
Be careful people. Get a starter position and watch. Don't bet the farm yet.
MF4
Janey,
You got that right. hey gort, your pumping NSPH on Ihub has zero effect on the stock, so why bother?
if it wasn't for a brief pop on hitachi rumors, this POS wouldn't have moved all year.
It's just another one of my many losers as stupid NFLX sells for a 200 PE.
MF4
Yeah, sure. This thing's a rocket ship. Just like all of my other turd stocks from Ihub. LOL
MF4
That figures.
Where does Starkist tuna come from?
Here's the best reason why Galleon has a shot: It's not Cortex. LOL
Because Cortex is invisible. The management sucks and couldn't get attention if they were naked.
MF4
Like a dipshit, I sold my shares after the pullback off the last earnings report. But I also sold some put spreads, which is a bullish bet.
After the Hitachi news, and the market's bullish bent, I just bought some calls on NSPH today. So, that either marks the top, or over 5 is imminent.
MF4
SLV not far from where I bought physical before the big boom.
MF4
Big,
GLD getting anhialed today. Thoughts?
MF4
That 24 year old died yesterday from profenol. It would seem that somebody would want ampakines just to test for counteracting opioid narcotic effect?
But nobody even appears to know or care about cortex.
MF4
Yes! That is definitely MY assumption.
MF4
Thanks Big,
I will look at legging in soon.
MF4
Big,
Thanks for your thoughts. I absolutely love the Gold shows on Discovery channel. Fridays nights provide hours of entertainment.
MF4
Hey Bigworld,
A number of months ago you were touting precious metals and miners, and you mentioned when the SPX got around 1500-1550, the last of the bag holders would be piling in at right around this time of year. I say good call.
What are you seeing for the near future?
MF4
zero, eventually
Cortex represents something very useful to me: It's a free $15K capital gain somewhere else. If I am able to make a few bucks this year, all I have to do is sell Cortex for a few cents, which I've already mentally and emotionally written off in my life.
The $15k capital loss means the first 15K profit I make on a "real" trade/investment is free cash I don't have to pay a vigg to Uncle Sam. That's something good.
Of course, if no gain occurs this year, I can always hold it until next.
MF4
I was an idiot for buying corx stock
What we need is an update from Varney on what is happening.
We should all hope Cortex remains a going concern until January 3rd. That way we can sell on January 2nd and lock in a large capital loss.
With obama raising capital gains rates in 2013, it will have the additional benefit of a larger deduction for us losers in 2013.
That is my only hope for this grossly mismanaged, 2-decade POS investment.
MF4
As a purely interesting life move, you are really saying something Big. However, when you sell everything, what will you do to preserve your wealth and the purchasing power of your savings?
MF4
Most small day-traders do over $10M/year in turnover. Trading 100 shares of AAPL for a dollar move in a daytrade uses up $120K.
This is not good. When I made my income, they taxed it as income and FICA. Then I invested my money and they taxed the profit. Now they will tax the transaction too.
At some point, I move out of the country so I can keep what I've earned. Stupid country.
Today's election results prove that the rich are villified now. The entitlement class can celebrate another 4 years of leaching off the productive people.
MF4
Third time today i've heard the term "Atlas Shrugged". Mostly it never comes up. That makes it significant.
MF4
I'm still long some 20K shares. I owned about 10K when the stock peaked at $5.80 - I felt like a fat cat for about one single day. The next day it was at $2.50 and was down from there.
I couldn't believe the betrayal and pain I felt losing $25K overnight. It still makes me sick. Since then, I've suffered worse regrets and losses.
I know I could sell my shares for $1K. But, I won't. I said I'd go down with the ship. And I fully expect they will stay under water. I'm totally fine with it now.

When whitey disagrees with blackie, or sides with the same opinion as another white, it's called racism.
When blackie disgrees with whitey, or sides with the same opinion as another black, it's called pride.
If a white person will consider an election and vote for the candidate that he feels will do the job best, a black man can (and did) become president. If a black person will vote for the black candidate regardless, even if he's proven that he hasn't improved anything, isn't that somewhat ignorant?
Which person is racist?
One thing for certain though, the cabal isn't ramping up the market to try to win Obama a second term.
Big,
Doesn't the VIX being at all-time lows confirm complacency?
Perhaps retail won't join in on a rally this time? Hasn't the market basically rallied 100% from the March 2009 lows?
Perhaps your scenario is unfolding and you're not seeing it because you are looking for one detail that won't unfold as you envision it?
MF4
Thay've been playing online poker from Varney's apartment for months already.
MF4
Well, if somebody who is a "Professor of Stocks", professes in one line that he likes PTN, who am I to question it?
Backing up the truck. LOL!!!
MF4
Did you mean next week? LOL
MF4
There has been a change at Cortex. A little less booze, more smoke. Less poker, more hackey sack. Less broads, more girlfriends. Otherwise, status quo.
MF4
I like the tape action. Looks to be going higher.
MF4
GFP,
What good does it do to create another movement, if all they will be able to do is spin their wheels?
Did you give any thought to my proposal of another way to tally votes? Don't you think that would be a good start? Then, if a new movement ever gains momentum, the ballot box will be in place to support it.
MF4
Big,
All the independent, third parties should form a coalition whose only purpose is to modify the way votes are cast and counted.
If you could also vote AGAINST a candidate, no voter would worry that their vote will be thrown away by voting for a third party (current paradigm). Then the NET votes would be tallied, and the candidate with the highest NET votes, would win.
This would also raise the caliber of the offerings because many would vote against the major party candidate they dislike the most. A candidate like Gary Johnson could win because his votes will be FOR votes. Obama and Romney are such poor choices, they could both have negative NET votes.
Until the system is changed in this way, the two-party system will remain firmly entrenched, and any vote for a third party is truly a throwaway vote.
MF4
Haysaw,
It's good to see you again. How do things look from up there?
MF4
Big: Thanks for the GDX and GDXJ trades. I bought 30 of each then doubled up when it pulled back. Sold a third before Ben, to be safe and already pocketed $500+.
So, thanks for the suggestion and rationale. I checked it out, agreed, and took it.
MF4
Big,
You suggest gold will be 2,000 an ounce, and SPY will be 1500 before a sell-off.
1500 could be hit next week. Don't you think it will take a little longer than that?
In April or so, I speculated that "they" would want the markets at all-time highs to keep their stooge in the white house around election time. This QE3 looks like a well-timed action to make that likely.
Of course, the opposition candidate is also one of "their" stooges, so they are on track regardless.
There can be no good end to this FED action. They are just going all-in on the plan to destroy all paper assets. They are engineering a world-wide global currency crisis that will lead to real pain for all but the priveleged puppet-masters in their bunkers.
And when we cry "uncle", the UN and IMF will show up with their SDR's and re-start the game. Only this time, they will take-over all the private countries assets, and rule from one consolidated place.
How far do you have to go from there before some "beast" gets into power and let's his tyrant flag fly? The puppet-masters will then realize they were just pawns. But, it will be too late.
I'm very close to changing my investment strategy to simply praying.
