kistun: I agree!
biotech: If you are short TESLA, you've got much bigger kahunas than me. in fact I have never shorted anything in my lade. The risk is just too great.
krisrun: I agree that Tesla's lofty valuation can be justified ONLY by assuming that the Robotaxi will start to produce meaningful revenue soon. However, I disagree with you about 'start increasing'. I expect the market will;l realize it has missed what is in the offing now, and the SP will explode.
Monica,
If that is ALL it can do, I WILL be disappointed.
Krisrun: With he exception of 1 I am aboard.
How many of you would be willing to do supervised FSD with strangers? I WOULD NOT!
My 3 S: I realize all these factors which are driving the stock in a positive direction. I was wondering if there was something new to explain the action today.
Did we get the rates? Why is the stock up on a slow day for the markets?
Mind you MY 3S: I rarely use the acceleration. BUT It is nice to know you have the power in case you ever need it, for instance on a two lanes each way situation where you have to overtake quickly or be stuck for minutes or longer.
Sun=barus are indeed good cars but the acceleration of a Tesla leaves them and even Lamborghinis in the dust.
lumpy
I agree there is room for regulations in order to define the playing field. But, once regulations are in place, we need the court system to ensure that the government bureaucracy does not:
1. Impose any additional requirements.
2. Enforce the regulations in a discriminatory fashion.
GOOd luck to you, chk.
JJ, I have been thinking of reducing my exposure to Tesla for some time now. I have been watching NVDA and PLTR.
KIsrun: I think that the difference is ELON; he can make a decision and implement it immediately instead of getting approvals from six different people.
George, promise me that, if you are disappointed you will still talk to us.
krisrun: Yes, until you compare Tesla's speed to the competition! Not China but US, as in GM and Ford.
JJ: good to see that you are around. THAT caution is exactly what I advocate. if anybody thinks Tesla is going to change its stripes suddenly, s/he may be disappointed bigly. It is best to go into the event with hope but zero expectation and prepare to be surprised.
Wouldn't that be nice?
About six months ago, my diagnosis of Parkinson's Disease was abruptly change to PSP, which is a much rarer condition, its distinguishing feature is that it is much faster progressing than PD. Since then I have been barred from driving. I have been dying to try out the best and greatest features of FSD. Not by my doctor, mind you, but my family - wife and 2 children. Today I finally got chance. I sent my son a Youtube video featuring ASS; and the family relented.
I have version 12.5.5, and I was just blown away by the confidence shown why the car in its decisions. The acceleration was as quick as is my normal, and handling of turns was superb. BUT the car had to be coaxed to approach the HOA gate, and my wife begged me to take control. So I did for a few seconds. BUT three was a car going through the gate ahead of us and I just know my amped;l Y was watching and learning; so I reactivated FSD, and the car went through the gate and found what it thinks is my house. It was close enough so I took control and drove through our own gate.
Today was the first. time that my wife accoompanied me on an FSD-controlled drive. I think she was impressed.
Pioneer: That is a wonderful play.
Be honest now: did Chatbot or something similar write it for you?
INCREDIBLE that even on a day like today with the stock up OVER 2%, the volume is anemic! Hitting 200,000 may be hard.
Lumpy, I live ner salt water and both my wife and I both drive Teslas. What do think I should do?
So I guess I am one of the 'lumpy folk"?
WAs it corrosion due t set water or space forces like EMF?
Guess you do not care much for EVs?
Congratulations guys. new highs every day It feels good, eh? This is the way I felt during the huge runup by TSLA in 2020-2021. I got o the point, that I was eating like a board every week, by selling puts close to the money, and then rolling out the outs if the price ever got close to my strike price. OF course, during major stock rallies that hardly ever happens. However in late 21, we finally had to pay the piper when the stock went way past my selected strike prices in he wrong direction, so I HAD TO buy stock worth $250 at $600! I understood what shining like an elephant felt like after two years of eating like a bird.
All I am saying is BE CAREFUL.
LOL
Has anybody noticed that YAHOO and CNBC are shorts in the sense that they have misleading headlines for some of their stories some of the time? For instance burying the fact that the recall was addressed by an OTA software update is buried deep n side te story, knowing all well that most people just glance at HEADLINES. Another example is playing around with analyst expectations for instance on deliveries expected for Q3 2024.
Supervised FSD provides ZERO benefit over a regular taxi and in fact may be less convenient, HOEWEVER, it is an essential step on the path to driverless taxis, whereas a regular taxi is just that.
TT: I love your handle I hope you are not planning to get to a trillion ahead of Elon...
I agree 100%. BUT please don't say it too loud. Somebody may spread the word, thus ending the fire sale of our shares...
I agree! AND I hope the rest of the world gives us some more tie to help them dump their shares...
I think LIDAR is much more likely.
Hey DUBSTER, I am still waiting for my lesson.
YUP. And that may be the day, the world stops thinking of TESLA as "just an auto company".
Vegas,I have used selling puts as part of building up a position in a stock. THSAT CAN TAKE A LONG TIME. Do you have a faster approach?
starting to look like the SHORTS are in control of IDCC and (especially) TSLA.,
jealm79: As you probably know you can use margin either directly or indirectly. The direct way is the one most people are familiar with where part or all of the rpice of a stock (or other security) }is covered by your margin. The indirect way is to use up ALL your cash to buy stocks and/or options. Then you see stock you would like to buy trading at an acceptable price. There are several ways to ;proceed:
1. Buy the stock using margin.
2. Sell naked puts on the stock. Since you don't own the stock. Therefore they are considered 'naked' and you may or may not have a high enough Options level authorization. In that case a cash deposit is required in case the seller of the puts wants to sell you his/her shares.I just found out the other day that most brokers will let you your margin as cash. That makes sense but I know that Schwab online trading was rejecting those kind of trades until recently.
I am stlll a cheapskate; and STILL have the free membership. Please call me when you get a chance. If you don't have my number, I will give you my last name.
