WB D-UP...that’s great news and hopefully no long term issues..
I don’t know LR, sounds to much like common sense and “the right thing to do”..
I agree Bizz...I would prefer to have the Scientists/Doctors have the loudest voice and on a National level...instead of politicians and tv talking heads who have their own agenda..ok, back to NFL for me...enjoy the rest of your day fellow IPIXers...#Brilacidin
I agree, it does no service to dwell on the past or a point of view from March...Scientists/Doctor’s are learning and evolving on a Daily basis..that is why, personally, one of the Docs I follow is Dr Michael Osterholm, Center For Infectious Disease Research and Policy (CIDRAP) at the University of Minnesota..besides being highly experienced ( and level headed) in this field he stays in the present as well as recommending plans going forward...to borrow a line from a popular beer ad..”stay logical my friends”...MS
Thanks Albert...nice to hear from a rational voice on occasion...hope to get some news one way or another this coming week...so many possible sources of news is surely there...enjoy your family and stay safe...doing the same here in FLA.
Exactly, if we, as a country, had gotten this message out and followed these guideline and other recommendations back in April this Pandemic could have been under control by now...with kids safely going back to school, economy in better shape, fewer businesses having to close and fewer filing for unemployment every week..
However, it's not too late and still within our control...this virus, most likely, will be with us for another year or more..and to some degree for decades..
We are not "red" or "blue" we are all one.."wear a damn mask".
I know Leo is doing all he can, it just takes time..
#Brilacidinworks
Not sure where you are getting that...sometimes politics gets in the way of science and common sense..
OCT, 11 2020
Coronavirus cases in Arizona dropped 75% after mask orders began, CDC reports
Thanks Bio, Nice post...personally I’d like to see a slew of PSA’S explaining to the country about asymptomatic and pre-symptomatic patients (most aren’t patients yet) that are spreading the virus...it’s unintentional but still a major source of our case load and increases in infections...that’s why this is not about personal choice or one’s freedoms..we are all in this together and can solve together...some sacrifice has to be made and the sooner the better..other than testing everybody frequently is all we have for now (and staying away from large groups)...as always, IMO. Mark
I must have missed where this restaurant meeting in New York was validated or fact checked?...
If it was in Godfather III I didn't see that movie as the ratings were so poor..
:)
Sleep well all, big week ahead..
Mark
I have to agree here regarding the unknowns on long term affects for anyone and any age contracting or even exposed to this virus...why take a chance? I’ve also been reading here (while I watch NFL) about face coverings...yes it’s a first for most of us and understandable why masks weren’t worn by all...and yes Dr Fauci at first encouraged that we didn’t.. he was told by the task force that lack of n-95 masks were a problem but quickly changed that and has been highly recommending them for months as well as distancing...so it’s no excuse that here we are in October and just had 4-5 straight days of over 50,000 cases (Fauci) wanted or hoped for 10% by now...we all know why 40% of the country refuses to wear a mask......hopefully we hear about what’s going on with Brilacidin this week..
I was joking as well...anytime you can shoot in the 70's it's good and way above the national average...
Gotcha...good luck with your injury but careful of full out driver swings..may have fractured a rib..
Pete that was some story...I didn't realize Golf was so dangerous.. :))
I have been hit before giving a lesson or 2 (accidently I believe) but nothing like that..your injury might help your swing...I use to practice with rubber tubing around my arms and chest to stay "connected"...or even a glove under my left arm...might try it with wedges...your Brothers Grandson sounds like the real deal...good luck and enjoy that..I am a Great Uncle so it is fun..
Apologies to the board for this "off topic" post as I do not have privileges for answering pm's..
I thought we use to have "Happy Hour" here on Friday's?...free posts..
Next week could be the week (just around the corner!)
Have fun,
Mark.
No worries and you are right about this board...and many of us bored :))
I did wonder out loud yesterday if a combo with the Regeneron antibodies and Brilacidin would be a viable treatment?
That question is more for the expertise/knowledge of folks like Farrell, BK, Pete and a few others..
Yes of course, thank you for clearing that up...that was not the main point of my post..
Still good Cabel!...unless par is 60... :))
Nothing was said (by me) regarding Brilacidin and any FDA approvals...may want to reread that post...
Neither...
Our President has zero authority to "give" any drug to anyone...the monoclonal antibody testing is ongoing as to efficacy, safety and dosage...the FDA would need to approve any authorizations for this drug or any drug..
Trials began in June...he received it under the "compassionate use" provision...only 275 patients to date...while a few thousand have signed up for the trial DJT may have hindered the testing as people may be reluctant to take a placebo when they think they could get the real thing..it is possible this cocktail of two different antibodies (which does show promise) may receive the Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) as Rendesivir was given..
We still do not know the true health of President Trump or what, if any, therapy has helped him..time will tell (and soon)..as for it being dispersed for "free" I think Regeneron will have something to say about that...
Have a nice, safe, fun weekend all..
Mark
Good luck with that herd immunity... I’ll pass...would need to get to 60-70% infected plus scientists are not entirely sure about immunity at all...it’s estimated 200 million of Americans would have to get infected and survive...don’t forget about mutations as well...hospitals would be over run and millions of deaths...Brilacidin and other therapies can mitigate the virus while vaccines are being developed.... can’t really believe this is an option to be honest...Mark
Good article Steel...I am glad to see some of our experts in the field speak up...our leaders need to listen and act..
Indeed it is Bizz...NEJM not to be taken lightly..it's a shame that the response would be different in a non-election year...should not even enter a discussion/policy on a Global Pandemic..
Long here as well Bizz, 12 years now..more gray hair and can not dunk a volleyball anymore..or hit a Drive over 260..
:))
A related post on a slow IPIX news day while we wait patiently for Leo's (and others) next move..
The highly prestigious New England Journal Of Medicine never goes political (first time in 208 years) but this is a health crisis and felt they could not, in good conscious, stay quiet...
This is not the Flu..but glad some, or even most recover fully...though it is still not known the long term effects as the virus can enter most of our organs including the brain..
Hoping Brilacidin comes to the fore-front soon..maybe in combination with Regeneron's monoclonal antibodies?
BREAKING: The New England Journal of Medicine Editorial Board:
New England Journal of Medicine: "When it comes to the response to the largest public health crisis of our time, our current political leaders have demonstrated that they are dangerously incompetent."
We (as a country) still have time to lower the daily increase in infections but it will take us all to be on the same page..
Note: sorry Zan, was not meant to be posted at you..
Mark
Cases in the US average 40-45,000 per day with Hospitalizations on the rise...all this with winter (more of us indoors) and the Flu season coming soon...our country is at 48% mask wearing as well as all of the other measures each of us can do to help end this Pandemic..
It is just common sense and not that difficult...does not (should not) be political.
Brilacidin is much needed and will be widely accepted world wide as SOC soon..
FAUCI: "If we had everyone have universal use of masks, distancing, no crowds, outdoors, wash hands, you wouldn't see the surges we're seeing. It occurs because of the lack of implementation of simple public health measures. It's so frustrating, because it's not rocket science."
Always, In My Opinion,
Mark
Yes a “cocktail” of two monoclonal antibodies that only recently announced results from 275 patients...It was given to Trump via Compassionate Use...then Rendesivir was prescribe for 5 days followed by Dexamethasone a strong steroid usually given later in the disease and for serious cases of COVID-19...long way to go here...Herman Cain lasted 28 days before succumbing to this virus and thought, or stated he was getting better....Mark
I believe the extra is being developed for Europe...could get faster approval over there...
This Virus is not going anywhere and mediation treatments will be at the forefront for our battle with this Pandemic...a vaccine (that requires 2 doses) will nor be fully implemented for 1-2 years...especially as it pertains to Herd Immunity..we may not be ready for the current crisis regarding the President and All its Men (sounds like a good movie title?) but Brilacidin, given alone or in combo will be upfront and much needed..
Patience, as always, is required..
All IMO,
Mark
Good article LK, one of many if anyone doubts the efficacy of wearing a face covering in public..
To me, this a far better alternative to needing another lock-down and getting all of us back to the normal lives (and saving lives) we all seek.
How many people need to wear masks to reduce community transmission?
“What you want is 100 percent of people to wear masks, but you’ll settle for 80 percent,” said (CDC Director) Rutherford. In one simulation, researchers predicted that 80 percent of the population wearing masks would do more to reduce COVID-19 spread than a strict lockdown.
The latest forecast from the Institute of Health Metrics and Evaluation suggests that 33,000 deaths could be avoided by October 1 if 95 percent of people wore masks in public. Date June,26th 2020.
I am sure that the vast majority of IPIX investors do wear a mask when in public so there is no need to "beat this dead horse"..
Excited to receive the news today regarding the IND...things should move quickly going forward..
Mark
This"argument" that the not wearing of a face covering in public is a "right" of freedom and personal choice is similar to the same thinking that smokers had not that many years ago...people wanted to be able to smoke in restaurants, movie theaters, stores and many other public places until science finally convinced the majority that second hand smoke was a health risk..
The result is that smoking is no longer allowed in public places and millions of people are (including smokers) now living in a healthy environment..I am sure that quitting smoking was a lot more difficult than simply putting on a face covering while around others in public places to help all of us combat this novel (long tern health consequence) are not known) virus..
Have a healthy and fun weekend fellow IPIXers..
Mark
To quote Jerry Seinfeld "Aw that's a Shame"..
I, of course, do not wish anyone in the WH inner circle to be seriously ill, this does not surprise...we see all of them everyday travel around the country taking no precautions other than some quickie tests that are hardly reliable..
It will, also, not surprise most of us that more announcements to come as Hope Hicks has constant contact with everyone..
As I said, I do not wish anyone serious ill will but maybe this is a "teachable" moment...especially to the thousands who attend these rallies maskless and no "distancing"..time will tell..
In the meantime, let's go Leo..we are all behind you..
I am sometimes amazed by the lack of science observed by a few of our investors here seeing as this whole investment relies on science...after dealing with this virus for 7-8 months we are still at 40,000 new cases per day and 750-1200 deaths a day...now we are heading into the colder months (people gathering inside) and flu season..schools and businesses reopening...
U.S. Cases Rise 0.6%; Positivity Rate Rises: Virus Update
Bloomberg News
September 29, 2020, 6:54 PM EDT Updated on September 30, 2020, 5:12 PM
As a country we are at 48% for the wearing of face coverings...no doubt wearing an N-95 is preferable but any mask is better than none at all..also, it is important to realize the percentage of people that are asymptomatic and can spread the disease..
CORONAVIRUS Published July 13 (Fox News)
CDC's 'best estimate' is 40 percent COVID-19 infections are asymptomatic..
so, I wrap with this: Bloomberg News quote/article.. "Any mask is better than no mask” to slow spread of COVID-19..we (as a country) will be dealing with this Pandemic for another year or longer unless we work together..sorry if this offends anyone as that was not my intention..we are only in the "2nd inning" as this relates to the pandemic..
Brilacidin will be a major player for us all as an effective, safe vaccine is months away (or more)..
Good Luck to all of us..
It;s all good Doc...besides, they already have an EUA and approval for this trial..
My hope is that B works as a Prophylaxis and we can all get back to our " "New" normal..
GUTA
Just a hunch...I was going to suggest Brilacidin as a better option than Remdesivir..
:))
Interesting take-away from that article:
Separately, the U.K. announced it will begin the world’s first human challenge trials — or purposely infecting individuals with Covid-19— early next year. The government-funded trial includes 2,000 potential volunteers, and relies on Gilead Sciences’ (GILD) antiviral remdesivir to manage any negative reactions. Remdesivir has been the only antiviral to-date to receive emergency use authorization against the virus in the U.S.
I would think adding Brilacidin to Remdesivir (as tests have shown) to improve the safety profile for this trial would be a prudent idea.

An interesting read for the science minds here...
Publication: GEN Daily....Their research is described in a paper titled, “Beyond Shielding: The Roles of Glycans in the SARS-Cov-2 Spike Protein.”
Closer Look at SARS-CoV-2 Protein Glycans Points to New Therapeutic and Vaccine Strategies..

Sometimes "less is more"...I am sure Gilead is well aware..just takes time and we have no idea what's going on "behind closed doors"..Great news today though... GLTA
Pulling for you Alan...you got this...
Geez don’t forget: Person, Woman, Man, Camera, TV.. #stablegenius ...hope everyone is enjoying and staying safe this weekend...next 2 weeks should tell us a lot.. Mark
Yeah, hes a Prince... #stablegenius
Genetic Engineering & Biotechnology News: (article in GEN)
p53’s Multiple Roles Are Acquired during Pluripotent Stem Cell Differentiation
The p53 gene is extremely important in cell biology as its role is to regulate the cell cycle and halt the formation of tumors, leading to its nickname the “tumor suppressor gene.” However, previous efforts to determine whether p53 is behind apoptosis induced by DNA damage in pluripotent embryonic stem cells (ESCs) produced conflicting results. NIH researchers say their report sorts through this maze of contradictions to finally determine that the multiple roles of p53 in cell cycle regulation and apoptosis are acquired during pluripotent stem cell differentiation. + MORE
