2 white labels or one yellow label per day is easily doable. Im not 100% with the 2015s, but with the 2014 its easy. I doubt the 2015s are much of a different process than 2014. One person modifies the front facia while the other person installs the mufflers and lowering springs, that's one hour done. Wheels and tires are already mounted and balanced at an outside shop and the rear wings are in stock and already painted to match. One person puts the wing and trunk panel on which takes an hour and the other person installs the headrests, shift knob, door sill plates and strut tower brace. Next is detailing and fender stickers. Installing a supercharger will take 2 people 2.5 hours once they have done a few. Easy peezey. The biggest hold up is parts. Oh.. and there is no tear down of the chassis unless you are talking about removing the struts to install springs, and the warehouse guy brings the new parts to the work area and takes the take-off parts back to the warehouse. The interior on white and yellow labels is only headrests, shift knobs, door sill plates and sticker on drivers airbag and there is no form fit or finish to speak of. Black labels have fit and finish do to the body kit, but white and yellow labels don't.
The two guys Saleen have building the cars can put out 2 white labels or 1 yellow label a day if they had the parts. Being that 99% of the parts that go on these cars are off the shelf aftermarket, and the fact that Saleen is COD with all their venders.. getting parts for the builds is always the big problem because they don't have money to get the parts.
Well put.. couldn't have said it better myself.
Who cares where the picture of the black Tesla in the work area is?? Like was said 100x before... It not being out in the open at Saleen is no proof that it is with a customer, same as seeing it on a flatbed. There are millions of other places it could be besides at Saleen or with a customer. Maybe Saleen messed up the ecu with their custom programming and had it towed to the dealer to be reprogrammed, who knows? The horse is dead.. please stop beating it...
I agree!
I know there have been many times where payroll wasn't made. The employees would get paid back small portions in the following weeks/months. Maybe they are issued stock in lieu of a paycheck...
Is there proof that the stock black Tesla in the pic at the open house was actually a "customers car waiting for Saleen conversion"?? Is there any proof that same Tesla ever got the Saleen conversion?? Its very, very possible that Tesla was borrowed from a Tesla dealership just for the open house. Saleen is all about image and Steve is very convincing while he is not telling the truth..
The Tesla in the pic you provided is stock except the addition of the Saleen license plate insert. No doubt this black Tesla became the black Tesla in the infamous flatbed tow truck picture. I thought I was going to be presented with a picture of two fully finished black Saleen Teslas next to each other...
The old saleen in the front is an 89 and belongs to a salesperson, the bmw that was mentioned prior belongs to Steves assistant, and the red s7 in the shop is non-turbo and Steves personal car.
There is zero proof that black Tesla on the flatbed ever got purchased and delivered to a paying customer. All that pic shows is that the vehicle is capable of being loaded on a flatbed. The black saleen in the ad for the aftermarket parts most likely got the wheels painted black and became the one on the flat bed. The picture of the black Tesla in traffic is no doubt someone that bought a Saleen wing and rear bumper cover and slapped them on. We cant see the interior for front end, right? There is no proof the black Tesla in traffic is a genuine Saleen, correct?
That blue mustang with the mfg plates belongs to saleen. Its not for sale and has been used for testing parts that went on the Follmer prototype car. Its old, 2012 I believe, look at the taillights.
This picture very well could be a stock Tesla that someone put a Saleen wing and bumper cover on. Saleen does sell body kit pieces, yes? There are no pics of the interior or front end, so how do we know if ever came out of the saleen shop. How many thousands of fake Saleen Mustangs are rolling around on the streets??
Please provide proof of more than one black Saleen Tesla
The black Tesla not being in the pic does in no way prove it was sold or in the possession of the person who supposedly bought it. All it proves is.. its not in the picture. It could be at a show, with a salesman, parked outside, and McDonalds.. who knows. There is an area for more parking to the right of the red Tesla, for all we know its in that area out of view of the camera. All we know, is that we don't know..
No employees are allowed to park in the shop/work area. Steves s7 is the only personal car ever in that area.
This is 100% correct!
Sure they can! When I worked at a dealership, we did it all the time. If the vehicle has been modified, the repair wont be covered and if the dealership reports the vehicle to corporate, the car could have whatever is left of its warranty voided completely.
It is entirely possible to take the cluster apart and cover the bulb. Of course this isn't 1995 so the check engine light bulb cant be removed. Cluster bulbs are all led now. That being said, you could take the cluster apart and slide a piece of electrical tape in between the part of the gauges you see, and the led bulb itself. The bulb will still be lit, but not visible to the driver. I have seen this done before. Its a very doable solution to extinguish a check engine light on a show car.
"Sure, as a dealership I could send my own dealer owned vehicles to them."... That's exactly what Im suggesting is going on!
"Why not picture both cars together? That way you get to see what the car looks like in different colors."... Exactly... that pic was for PR/advertising! You just said it yourself!
Plus, that pic was supposed to be showing/proving a(the first)Tesla actually going to customer(which it only shows it on a flatbed, not in a customers driveway), not an advertisement. If it wasn't PR, the picture wouldn't have been taken in the first place.
The picture of the two Teslas is completely staged. There is no other logical reason the red Tesla would be parked next to the flatbed, especially as close as it is. The flatbed is backed into a parking space which has a curb and shrubs directly behind it, so the black Tesla would have had to be in the location of the flatbed, then once loaded, the truck then backed up. Why?.. The flatbed had to be in that location so "Saleen" on the building is shown nice and prominent in the background. Plus... I know for a fact the location of the flatbed is for employee and customer parking. Cars to be delivered or show cars are always always made by the door of main work area. Wake up people!
Saleen borrows cars frequently to modify. Its a win for saleen to get publicity and look like they have the capital to buy new vehicles, and a win for the dealership because they get a modified version of the car they lent out. If its not stowed away I the back of the shop, or in the showroom, its out for more PR, or it was given back to the owner/lender. "Not sure what difference it makes about another Saleen being the pictures? WOW"... It doesn't seem a little bit questionable to have the other Tesla coincidentally in the same pic as the black tesla on the flatbed? Saleen is all about PR, more so than building cars. That I can guarantee you. Oh.. about the check engine light being turned off now... Is it not possible they took the cluster apart and covered the check engine light bulb?? Just because you cant see the check engine light being lit does not mean the computer isn't turning the light on.
Obviously the pic of the Tesla on the flatbed was taken for publicity. Why else would the other Tesla be coincidentally be in the same picture?? Who is to say the Tesla got loaded on the flatbed, had some pics taken, then unloaded it? Or that they delivered it back to where they borrowed it from? Has anyone actually seen the bill of sale showing an actual customer paying for it?
I bet the hood wasn't opened because there was nothing more than a stock, non-supercharged engine in there. If there was a 730-750hp engine residing under the hood, you can bet they would have been showing it off.
