Anyone venture to guess when the company will release guidance for the first quarter 2021.
I think we turned somewhat of a corner when we settled with huawei and ZTE. Just saying. IMO
So very sorry to hear about Bulldzr....,my condolences to his family.
Per the judge to Lenovo....”your trying to take the benefit without the burden “. How cool it that!!
LG license expires 12-31-20.... hope there's not a problem. I haven't seen any news regarding LG.
Interesting perspective. Thanks much for the info.
Vegas....if there is an excessive amount of put writing, does this impact the shortage of shares to the brokerage houses? TIA
One has to wonder if there are caveats to any or all fixed agreements. Maybe there are stipulations shareholders are not privy to. IMO
IMO...bad blood still flows from the IDCC vs Motorola debacle that started in October 1993.
Just wondering if this Lenovo/Motorola matter could result in treble damages. IMO the system needs to hold more companies accountable for bad faith practices if evidence shows such.
Count,
How about three decades....first shares 1986
Thanks OD
Does anyone know the status of Interdigital's pursuit of damages in the ZTE matter that continues to drag on? TIA
There is a great book published in 2008 dealing with spying on the part of the United States. The book " Blind Man's Bluff" is an in-depth and historically correct account of submarine espionage against the Soviet union during the era of the cold war. We were good ! Unfortunately spying and espionage is as rampant today as it has ever been.
I find it odd that we as Americans are now taking the technology issue with China's Huawei to such levels. Makes me wonder who actually wrote the book on spying . Is counter intelligence now out of our league? All IMO only.
Very much enjoyed Mickey's posting over the years. Condolences to his wife and entire family. Rest In Peace Mickey.
Wishing you all the best Mickey. Keep fighting! We have all come a long way, and we're almost there.
Sons..... it would be another ZTE and never get resolved! All very sad.
The unusually high open interest in the September 70 Put options (expiring Friday) may have something to do with the recent weakness in IDCC stock. Someone made some huge bets , and is getting burned. All IMO.
James Earl Carter, Jr. was our 39th President. I did not support him in his candidacy, but there were several admirable qualities about him. One point he made in a speech during his tenure was the fact that in his opinion our country was "over lawyered". The rule of law is the cornerstone of our democracy, but has evolved into a massive due process "for the little guy" over loaded with BS. All IMO.
We concern ourselves here in the USA regarding Huawei, and now we have Facebook and Google to worry about. The surprises keep coming. All IMO.
It was Siemens that was one of the first if not the first that recognized we had anything of value via a contract back in the early 90s if I'm correct.
It certainly looks as if this Interdigital venture isn't going to amount to a "hill" of beans.
Were you ever employed by Interdigital,Inc. and for some reason got canned. Just a thought.
I am still of the opinion that at least one of the hold outs over all these years needs to go before a court proceeding to determine willful infringement, and access damages.
"Transfer of patents from LG to Interdigital " sounds interesting. Maybe back payments are being received via a different method. It is indeed unfortunate that some on this board have the inability to use the ignore option provided. GREAT NEWS from the company.
With our track record in legal matters, maybe ZTE is appealing to the SCOTUS?
Time spent litigating these now expired patents have stifled the company's licensing efforts IMHO. Stalling has been the choice of many for a long time. I personally want to see this case proceed to the damages phase, a find for willful infringement, and justice served. All IMO
Shares of IDCC are systematically gravitating to those who fully understand the potential of the company.

Absolutely correct in regards to their R&D efforts. My concern has more to do with their licensing success or lack there of. The company has established IP in all Gs within the standards bodies, and 50% of vendors under license (including heavyweights). This in itself begs the question as to where advice is coming from to not license, but to litigate, arbitrate, etc. I am completely aware that some regard this as business as usual in the dynamic field of wireless technologies, but after a while (years) it begins to smell as if something is unusual and just not quite right. All IMHO.
There is no doubt about the company's motivation to secrecy over the years. My point is maybe the company is aware of these communication skills of some on Wall Street to stifle growth of this little company. Sound absurd? Maybe, but then maybe not. Like I said sadly we will never know. IMO
Or could it be someone that has great communication skills with Wall Street to insure this little flea doesn't ever fly? Could it be something very sinister going on within the inner circle of the company that causes it to be denied a good multiple? Sadly we will never know. All IMHO of course.
IMHO.... when the global assault on Qcom's is concluded and are somehow forced through the courts and standards bodies to adjust it's business model and/or business practices toward licensing procedures, etc. there will be no changes for small companies with intellectual property in the CDMA wireless space. IF...and a big IF...this comes to pass small companies with IP will benefit. IDCC will be included. This is going to take time...a lot of time. IDCC being a pioneer....well it could be "Katy bar the door". Who was it that said "only the shadow knows"?
Well said submar.
Since the announcement of the license agreement between QCOM and LG in April 2016 I have almost become convinced that LG is convinced they have all the tech they need from the one stop shop in wireless. The same holds true with several other OEMs out there. What is other licensing teams to do? ALL IN MY OPINION ONLY!
Dozer,
Strange human behavior to say the least.
Brat:
LOL, very well said.

I'm not really sure. I've ridden this nag since 1985. My hair has turned white, some has fallen out, but I'm still holding on to the reins. I suppose I'm an eternal optimist.
IMHO, there are some folks that truly need to sell ther position in Interdigital stock before they lose all their faculties to the on going stress of IDCC stock ownership.
Well said Clam. Regarding "are we merely insanely faithful "? LOL Faithful yes, but I don't believe insane.
Clam,
IMHO, even more apparent is that we need more positive news coming Qcom's way. With Qcom being called on the carpet around the globe does not help our little flee.
