A fool and their money are soon parted.
I am impressed of 3 or 4 people pretending, and pumping. And neither is the resident long.
I am in fl, if someone wants to set it up, will go visit Val to talk about those plans. Cover my gas.
While not super expected, not surprising considering BBM was coming preloaded on new Samsung android devices.
Feel bad for shorts... no.... only for those tricked into it.
Thanks to chaos I am up 20% in a very short time instead of down. ',and
But again, I am investing in value, he just trades. Both can make money.
Now with samsung in bed, another big investor, bbry will get closer to book value, $18 a share.
Typed on my awesome Blackberry Passport device.
Wow those longs just made money. There goes $10.75 resistance.
Btw thankfully, in part of you, I had to buy in, or over 8% up on the stock in 3 days.
Because of you, I looked into the shares and decided to make it part of portfolios. If it was not for you calling it a calculator I would of just moved on.
Will likely lock some gains for a few accounts, and buy more in others with a different strategy.
People were long for fundamental reasons and may yet be right. You went short based on your flow strategy, two different things, just as I mentioned before, I cases where I and my trader friends had different opinions but both of our investment thesis worked out over a number of years.
In any case, I am happy your strategy works for you, seriously I am.
Just realize that being insulting to people with your posts, is pointless, and merely comes off looking like a desperate attempt we have all seen amateur shorts do, they go short than try to publicly and futilely try to get others to sell a thinly traded security.
In the spirit of community, I am sure others are interested in your opinions, especially when you are short most of the time as a trader, but your comments calling a phone a calculator and making snide Indian remarks add zero value.
Struck a nerve eh? Good. I am glad you got my attention.
I am not trying to insult you by calling you a trader. There is absolutely nothing wrong with being a trader. A trader also knows that fundamentals mean squat to trading a security.
What ticks me off about your attitude is just that, your "expertise" yet you lack any credibility to your comments by calling phones calculators and laughing it off with Indian comments.
I know MANY successful traders, with whom I may differ on the opinions, yet we both make money on different sides of the same security. I am NOT a trader, simply because I spend the majority of my time client facing, so my own angle is from the fundamental side of the picture, where more often than not, myself and my team are right.
As far as Blackberry, if you have bothered to speak with more than a few IT people, or actual BB users, you would see how much of a big deal the turnaround is.
BB is not Radio Shack, CC, or Pets.com with no assets. Cash on hand is between $3 and $5 a share. Then, the PATENTS, which you will argue as worthless, at least 3 institutional firms I spoke with, easily value them at $7 to $9. That did not include the new patents for encrypted txt and voice.
Right now, BB is the only company out there that can provide full encrypted communication, between email, txt, instant message and voice.
Was BB overpriced in the past? yeah, just as Facebook, Twitter and other companies are right now.... but just because it was overpriced before, does not mean it is now.
As far as losing public? Who cares? BB does not need to sell a phone to every american. All they need is business consumers.
As a business owner, I can tell you bar none, the most important part is security... not iphone or android can provide that.
If BB is good enough for 8 out of 10 G10 governments, it is good enough for me.
If you are a fundamental short in BB, that should scare you.
If you are a trader, and nothing more, than none of it matters because you are just looking at the charts, right?
Stock down 14% after hours.
ORB rocket explodes on launch. Stock down 14% after hours. Will be interesting to see if they recover from this.
...and FB just showed another great example of it.
Surprised that the $11 strike price options, expiring in 3 days, are trading for $.09/$.10 with a high amount of volume to them. Would not be surprised to see BBRY end at $11 by end of week.
I will personally write some Nov $11 or $11.50 strike price for a net premium of $.45 cents. 25 days, solid premium income.
Anyone still have his email? or phone number? send me a message. Will try to reach out.
Who wants to show his face? =)
there will be a Reverse Split, THEN... he will come out with a great story.
I will be in Florida in the next few weeks, may drop by. Does he still live in Palm Coast?
So you are a trader, nothing more, nothing else. You pretend to be an institutional investor/private equity guy who you know, actually invests long or short. Not trades.
As such, that is what you do and I don't blame you. I often trade short myself.... however your insights on Blackberry from the fundamentals side, are quite worthless, nor do they matter, or should matter to you as a trader. It is tough to take anyone seriously who fails to see the basic business sense and argues with people who actually use Blackberry products, A LOT of them, and know of employees within the firm and their inputs.
The sad part is, I wanted to take you seriously, as I always appreciate someone who can challenge my ideas.
It will just be easier for folks to put you on ignore.
Disclaimers... yes, I am both an institutional investor as well as a head of a retail firm, yes, I along with my clients now own BBRY long as part of our positions.
BBRY breaking through resistance at $10.44, up to $10.60 now, next resistance at $10.94.
Fundamentals are better, $5 in cash per share on hand, book value of $18.
New enterprise announcements Nov 13.
Will likely buy $11's.
Went through resistance at $10.44, next resistance at $10.94/99 range.
Now you are really pulling at straws.
Cover your short yet?
Another celebrity on board.

I think on most stocks I have been following, it is either
1. Earnings were baked in and no movement.
or
2. Earnings meet or miss and stock sells off.
Have not seen many where the stock jumps even more.
Valuations are quite "healthy" right now so most institutional guys I speak with, are looking for any excuse to sell.
BES12 is widely expected and I feel is already baked in, unless they announce some major features.
The big thing will be the numbers, and if they announce the number of passports sold to date, as well as the launch of the Blackberry Classic or another new device.
Just bought more shares myself, and may write some calls against it for income. The options market though is pricing in some gains.
I look at it from the fundamental side...
$5 in cash per share of BBRY.
$18 per share book value.
Another positive review from a well known tech journalist.

Updated the iBox. Add a bit more info. If anyone wants other info added, just let me know or shoot me a message.
Looking at the weekly chart... the compression in the bands suggests there will be a move, up or down. The trend and fundamentals suggests up.
Factor in that book value is over $18 a share, and there is over $5 a share in CASH... BB looks to be a safe investment in my book.
(this is not a solicitation to buy or sell anything. )
Blackberry Passport price increase in the USA. Now to $699.
http://forums.crackberry.com/blackberry-passport-f434/amazon-price-increase-699-a-971403/
Pricing power.
...and more and more... enjoying the passport, feel like an ass I did not buy 2 more before the price increase for the employees.
Went to Apple store, compared with the 6+, yep, very glad I got my passport.
Went to tmobile to speak with my corporate rep, showed them the passport, they went nutty over it.
Absolutely. Plenty of folks have them on prepaid or other plans, like net10 and walmart tmobile plan.
Tmobile in general is great if you have good reception by you, or live in a metro area.
Visit crackberry.com, click on forums.
As far as phones, I do enjoy the passport so far. The only thing, not everyone can swing $600 for it. Alternatively you can pick up an unlocked q10 for $235 or so on amazon.
The z10 and z30 are good touchscreen
phones.
Some stats on BBRY, as an investment.
Book/sh 18.14
P/B 0.57
Cash/sh 5.21
Trading below book value.
$5.21 of the share price represents the cash on hand.

Blackberry Enterprise Services 12.
http://crackberry.com/bes12-isnt-update-its-new-era-enterprise-mobility
Don't need news...
Needs...
1. An actual business.
2. A capable CEO
3. Capable employees, not that there are any now.
4. Needs any revenue. lol. forget profits.
The only business here is screwing people out of money to fund personal lifestyles.
Lol. This is a big deal?
This is like going gambling, losing $1000 and then being happy you made up $5. Fact is you still lost a ton of money.
After seeing the "corporate office" aka the po box at a ups store, as well as the now defunct store..... you have to be really crazy to believe this scam.
Obviously you do not know squat.
With 10.3, but even before 10.2.... you have FULL ability to run Android apps.
As far as keyboard, obviously it takes time to get used to it coming from a touch screen. It took me 2 days.... but don't worry, there are touch screen choices coming.
Is the Passport for everyone? NO.... but it is an attention getter and works well. Go on crackberry forums and see for yourself, the amount of iphone users switching to it.
Nearly daily I have somone asking me to play with the passport.
Are you man enough for the Passport?
http://bgr.com/2014/10/23/blackberry-passport-best-features/
Worth a read.
I don't know if it had credibility to it in the first place lace or not. If you follow blackberry forums, you would know where it came from and it was not that strong.
In reality, even if true, likely not going to be approved by Canadian government due to security concerns, founded or unfounded.
The best play here is a successful turnaround. You are buying the company at these levels at close to breakup value, factor in...
QNX,
Bes 12
Monetization of BBm
New hardware..... You are good to go.
Did you buy more 3D? =) Sorry if you were long it. ooops.
and I would not mind buying more. =)
But I swear, it is soo tough to take you seriously considering your only points to the short were "calculator" and Bombay.
JC speaking at HK enterprise conference.
http://crackberry.com/blackberry-ceo-john-chen-paradox-simplicity
... and yes, I am in finance myself, on the client facing side, and I have plenty of institutional knocking on my door begging for money. And the smart ones... still have their blackberries.
I do have a number of clients who do work for the government, and their personal phones are blackberries, that should tell you something as it relates to privacy and security. =)
http://seekingalpha.com/article/2577465-is-blackberry-really-going-to-get-bought-out
Not that I expect the deal to get approved, it likely will not due to security issues... but it should show you a bit on the valuation side.
VC/PE guy? Please tell me so I WILL NOT be putting in client money in your fund. =)
All that comes out from you is calculator and Bombay. What do you have against India?
So back to 101... they are not competing for every product, they do not have to. They are selling nearly every Passport at full asking price, with HEALTHY margins. They were targeting 200k, they sold them out. They do not have to sell 50 million units to survive.
Between enterprise, and patents, they are more than ok.
This company is not over valuated like Facebook and others are 1000x earnings. Blackberry is trading near damn book value.
But, as a smart PE guy that you are, you should know that you reevaluate investments as they go along. At this price, it is quite attractive.
... and just bought a bunch of shares for $9.99. Have a feeling will be quite good in the next few weeks.
Don't get me started on that one. =) Although playing craps with the CEO was fun in Vegas. he is an animal.
<--- avid gun guy, competitive shooter
Well, he is a former SPLS employee, and owned it since it was mid $20's. lol. Fortunately, options writing has worked out nicely over the last 5 years or so..... the only gains that came out of it.
Btw, I just tried to order a few more Passports for my staff... and was told no. They are backordered AGAIN, and a limit of 2 phones.
See, how presumptuous you are? =P
I already had an Iphone 5, I gave it away and went back to my blackberry.
On the patent portfolio, obviously you are smarter than a number of large governments... including China and Lenovo that want to buy BBRY FOR their patents. lol.
I am thinking about buying a few shares myself. I used to work at Staples. Even though I am concerned long term, in the short term, it is rather cheap on an earnings basis.
Right now, in full disclosure, we are long staples, and short covered calls against it at $13. That looks to be the spot for a while here. Great income though.
