Thanks Elroy, I'm tempted to take profits right now. " Somebody stop me ! "- From Jim Cary, in The Mask.
What's going on with INTC 2.4% down again. It cant get out of it's own way. I'm going to close my position at cost, had a $55 price to sell target for about a 7% return, but this ridiculous. I'm going to close at 51 and change.
Thanks Nick.
I was an early proponent of cybersecurity software way back when the pandemic began in Feb March and April. Cybersecurity and restaurants. Well, some restaurants have done very well. Others haven't. Most chains will thrive.
Now my thesis regarding cybersecurity was that as all eyes turn to the virus (and the subsequent distractions from this administration) there would be higher threat levels to corporate security. I hadn't thought that government security could be compromised as well.
I had recommended Palo Alto among other stocks at the time.
Earlier this a.m. I believed that Fireeye would be the low priced one to watch. But as in February to April I didn't follow my own reasoning to buy stocks in this sector.
Now cybersecurity is at the forefront with breaches rivaling the Titanic ( and you know what happened with that one ). So, today I finally opened Fireeye at 15.80.
Very late to the party. But I think these companies will become more and more important in the days to come.
I figure this to be a long term hold.
Good answer Court. Very informative. Thank you.
Thanks Elroy for the insightful info.
After a long hiatus reopened RH at 446.
Building a position at $5 in ZDGE.
I'm not sanguine about the potential for these vaccine stocks to take a nosedive. PFE, BNTX, MRNA and others once their vaccines come to market. Creating a potential glut.
My sense of it PFE has other pharmaceutical lines, so do Lilly, AstraZeneca, Bristol Meyers etc...
Moderna though, what do they have other than their vaccine?
Yet their vaccine doesn't require deep cold.
I think theirs is a better bet as vaccines roll out.
What about CVS and Thermo Fisher in that space. Any room for them to move up ?
Blaming Reagan for what ? Furthering the destruction of unionism in America ? I'm a retired I.B.E.W. Local #3 'A' electrician and retired city of New York civil service employee. Something that I'm proud of. What billionaires, corporations, reagan, trump and others have done is obliterate unions in the U.S. So Yeah, it doesn't matter how long ago that's been, it's still going on today. It started back in the 60's and escalated in the 70's. Then worsened in the 80's.
I'd lived in Florida back then, started my career in the electrical industry but found there was no path to success in that field in Florida. A non union state. Moved back to NY. Worked my way up, took civil service tests made something of myself for my wife, son and community and retired at 56. From my perspective there are many guilty for unions destruction in the U.S. none so much as reagan, trump and clinton with his NAFTA. Those giant sucking sounds of jobs leaving our shores that Ross Perot cited is still occurring today.
We as a nation have given away the farm and given the keys for the tractor to China and dozens of other countries.
From my perspective folks now are fighting over the scraps of the husk of what was the mighty United States of America. So excuse me for previously intimating my perspective. Now you really know how really feel. I love this country with all my heart and am sickened by what I've seen of its destruction.
If you say to me "Ron, I dont want you to put your self into what you say" and you want for me to just report my stock market observations, my buys and sells, in a rather mundane way, just say it, and I will.
But I can tell you that some may appreciate my colorful statements, and some may even miss them. So I'll leave that up you.
And just for the record, I think I have been tempering my political commentary to a degree.
For example, I havent referred to the president as "tRUMP" since you pointed out to me your objections to that. So with all due respect to you I have been tempering my comments.
Nice Court. Wheres the house ?
Bad day for you today Nick ? Have to take it out on someone ?
That's your decision and your bias. I said that I'm surprised at your politispeak because of the justifiable soapbox you're on maintaining stock market focus. I get that, I do the same with my What's App 80+ member dance group that I started November 2018.
People can ignore all they want. They can live in their own self indulgent bubble all they want. They can view the world through a 1 way mirror instead of a prism all they want. Unfortunately those folks dont see the bigger picture. And I dont care if they wish to insulate themselves from reality. That's their burden. Not mine. They couldn't care less about my insights, stock market or otherwise, I certainly could not care less about their perspective.
From my viewpoint they add next to nothing to this site.
You add, Elroy adds, SF adds Court adds.
Some others do as well. I respect their stock market savvy. Others (tripe) I don't. Plain and simple. So from my perspective, they wish to ignore that I have something to say, it's their loss, not mine.
Ones you pointed out that ignore my comments won't read them so I'm not hurting their tender feelings. Poor babies, cant handle a different perspective. Oh my.
You on the other hand have patiently accepted Elroys commentary, which I have found enriching as I've found yours and others here enriching.
So I'll thank you for being patient and tolerant of my sometimes outlandish comments. I hope that I contribute something that some benefit from.
Nick I'm really surprised at the politispeak coming from you. Both partys are wrong in many ways. That's why I'm independent. The party in power is always scrutinized fairly or unfairly. You probably dont hear or see or interpret what I hear and see and interpret in the same way. I listen to the absolute trash talk from OAN, FOX and NEWSMAX. It just seems to me that the vehemence coming from them and their trumpian disciples is far more vicious. Do I agree with some of it ? Yes, I do. Do I agree with CNN and MSNBC sometimes, yes I do. Seems that if they were guns that the right leaning news outlets were using theyd be bazookas and the middle to left leaning are using pop guns when it comes to incendiary speech. That means to me theres far more emotional manipulation from the right leaning than left leaning channels. I dont like to be manipulated.
When Tom Lee talks, everyone listens.
Thanks Elroy for contextualizing.
The old argument. How long ago was that Nick ? And what's changed since. There's your answer if you care to look for it.
Keeps me honest.
Okay.
Americans are persona non grata throughout the world including Australia and New Zealand ( annoying speech and all )
You see they know what they have and know it's better than some here purport what we have here to be the best. (Little do Americans know)- but Americans keep " trumpeting" the falsehoods. I'm sure they dont realize and if they did they'd deny the evidence. Ignorance is bliss, fuel for the falsehoods and fires....
I've got a line on some land in Somalia far as the eye can see. I could sell it cheap cheap if you're interested.
Added to BNTX at 102.37
I've been looking for dual citizenship, preferably in the E.U. Unfortunately Americans are persona non grata to most of the E.U. and all of Canada.
"Probably" ?
The efficiencies of government. Or shall I say the soon to be former government.
I get 1 or less a day. Blocked each time. Usually listed as being from a state on my caller I.d. Congress allowed solicitations to mobile phones quite recently. Hence the deluge. Prior to that it was just solicitation calls to landlines.
Out of how many thousand inoculated? They have drugs for allergic reactions.
I agree with facebook. As a shareholder of FB and having recently sold my AAPL shares I think FB has a credible case. Freedom of speech. And embedded in our constritution- Freedom of advertisement. Have to read in between the lines for that one.
Added to TDOC at 182.58 earlier today.
Maybe one day soon I won't be underwater with this one.
And of course as soon as I close DKNG and AAPL before that, they both go up.
Trimmed COST at 370 from 339.
Closed at 52 from 45
Closed DKNG at 52 will report profit later.
On a stop closed CGRO at 11.85
.15 centavos per share loss.
Just great. That's all we need.
Stop loss at 11.85 so just watching and waiting for this to go.
I had researched this as well. Had decided upon VLDR instead, and we all know how that turned out.
Opened cgro with a bit of a nibble at 12.
Added to QRTEP at 98.25 for that great 8% dividend. Cost basis now $97.26
That's the last of my positioning with this one.
Yep.
Are you still adding to AI ? It's been below 100.
Stopped out at cost for VLDR-$20.20
Misinterpreting Nick's comments about AI have cost me big time. From a $22 plus gain per share to a next to nothing per share gain, and potential loss if the stock continues on its downward crash cycle.
I dont blame Nick for this, I blame myself for going against my own strategy. Now stuck with the decision to close before a loss or wait as I have as $20+ of profit was lost.
Added to BNTX at 114.50 yesterday.
Added to CRM at 119 today in Fidelity. account.
Closed ETSY at 179.84 from a cost of 159.84.
Closed AAPL at 125.50 from a cost of 110.
Opened VLDR at 20.20
Incidentally Nick, I think AI has crashed now, ( as if it wasnt crashing before this )
