Good question, here's a better one: who in their right mind would be shorting AMC shares today?
.it opens the door for blatant manipulation
It sure does, you should get the APE share when Adam Aron said you should, TD-A knows that, too.
Trulla, I received an answer. I'm not going to be rolling any sold Put contracts, but I'm going to ask another question for this is getting interesting.
For everyone's information, When you sell a Put it's at a strike price, if the stock is trading higher than that strike price, you get to keep the money you received when you sold the Put. A Put is a Promise that you will buy the underlying shares at a specific price, or the Strike Price.
Here's my answer from TD-A, I'm still thinking about my next question. I cleared the fellow's name that answered me.
Good question. Any material change to a stock, like a spin-off or split must be accounted for in the option contract. I do not see an official memo in the Option Clearing Corporation website yet, theocc.com. So in general terms, the existing contracts prior to the spin-off date will change their deliverable. If the spin-off is indeed 1:1, then I would expect the adjusted option contract to now deliver 100 shares and 100 shares of the spin-off shares.
Any time there is a change to an option contract, it is to account for the new conditions so that no one benefits or is hurt by the change. It is all accounted for in the new contract deliverable.
Thanks.

Greetings:
AMC has announced a 1:1 spinoff with an ex-date of 08/22/2022, I have sold a number of AMC Puts at various strikes, how will these Puts be affected by that spinoff.
I understand that my current positions expire prior to ex-date; however, I have a history of rolling via the thinkorswim platform, I'd appreciate an answer to my concerns ASAP.
Thank you,

Pretty damn interesting show, isn't it? Kenny needs to be taken to the Train Station!
How can the Company have one ex-dividend date, while NYSE has another ex-dividend date?
I haven't heard back for TD-A
I'll push the envelop a bit more, I'll also let you know what they have to say to me.

Lawyers, freaking lawyers and lawsuits, that's why. However, his next sentence was when it's time to pounce, he'll pounce. Remember?
He has pounced, plus he's a good size man from Philly, they fight dirty in Philly, just ask the British.
I'd love that, but like most things in this life, picking the Beach HOuse is past my paid grade, I'm only allowed to pay for stuff.
They are all real shares for those that own them, it's up to the Brokerage Firms to make sure you have what you bought, they loaned out your shares to be shorted. They are the ones in trouble.
Brokerage Firms knew that they were loaning out shares that had been previously shorted, to boot, they made a ton of money doing so; now it's time for them to call in all shorted shares. This happens all the time, the rub with AMC, many here think that there are billions of shorted outstanding shares, if they are right, there will be a squeeze the likes of which the Markets have never seen, soon too, the shorts HAVE to buy back the naked shorted shares when the Brokerage Firms calls and tells them to cover, or they will do it for them. Furthermore, they won't care what price they are paying for the shares is.
On top of all that, the CEO of AMC has put a time frame on when the shares have to be bought back, so hold on tight, all longs will be alright, there will be blood in the street; but it won't be yours.
About the only thing I'm sure of is if we don't get our APE shares, there will be lawyers coming out of the woodwork with class action against and and all brokerage firms that failed to provide you and I our APE shares.
This is going to be interesting, no way about that.
I do believe that Shorts will drop the price down to scare Longs. I'm not sure what's really going on, Warren Buffet likes to say, sometimes it's best to do nothing.
That works for me, HODL and watch and see, but my guess is we'll go down before we start going up, how high we go is what I don't understand, part of me believes this could get the squeeze in full play.
What makes you think Kenny can't print Ape Shares as well as he can AMC shares?
Kenny must think so, he's selling A/H's
Tulla, perhaps these APE shares will be selling higher than AMC.
If I don't get 1 to 1 for each share I own, I too, will be upset.
Not sure why all the selling before the Big Man even talks. I can't wait to hear about this new APE share. Shouldn't this cause concern for anyone short? Why the selling?
A lot of Apes are deeply underwater at today's levels
.but I have no expectations for this week...
I sure do, Earnings are going to beat, PPS will follow, AA might do some pouching, to boot!
All kinds of good things come to those that wait, The Good Lord knows, we've been waiting!
August 4th or 5th
I don't believe AMC has any movie houses in China, but could be wrong. Lots in Europe, AA has said they are doing well in last call, he'll have a ton of fun on Thursday, poor guy had to root for the Philly teams, finality he has himself a winner!
IMAX Corp. (NYSE: IMAX) CEO Richard Gelfond says the movie theater business is “smoking,” due to an impressive lineup of summer blockbusters.
What happened: "If you look at the business itself, it's smoking," Gelfond said on CNBC’s “Squawk Box.” The comment followed IMAX’s mixed earnings report. He noted that business is down just 5% from 2019, which was its “best year ever,” and indicated that perhaps the pandemic woes for movie theaters have ended.
Last week, IMAX released its quarterly report, missing earnings expectations. However, it beat analyst expectations on revenues. IMAX is down 9.82% for the year, outpacing both the broad market and certain rival movie theater chains.

AMC Entertainment Inc. (NYSE: AMC), which is set to report earnings on Thursday, Aug. 4, has fallen 43.25% in 2022.
Cinemark Holdings Inc. (NYSE: CNK) is 7.81% positive on the year. It's expected to report earnings on Friday, Aug. 5.
Given that five films released in the first half of the year passed the $200 million domestic total, compared to just three films over the rest of 2021, there are strong hopes for earnings in movie theatres for the second half of 2022.
In terms of the IMAX business in China, which gives the company around 33% of its revenues, Gelfond is hopeful this is a turning point in the country marred by COVID-19 lockdowns.
The CEO said the company is coming off its best summer weekend in China since 2019. “They had a movie that did $125 million overall, and an IMAX did $6.3 million, which is the biggest we’ve done there in a while,” he explained.
Why it matters: According to experts, the domestic box office will reach between $7.5 billion and $8 billion in 2022, implying that the second half will be between $3.9 billion and $4.4 billion.
Domestic box office sales have grossed $4.7 billion year to date, an increase of 192.6% over 2021 — but down 30.7% from 2019.
Some of the years' remaining blockbusters include,
Oct. 4: “Halloween Ends”
Oct. 21: “Black Adam”
Nov. 11: “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever”
Dec. 16: “Avatar: The Way of Water”
Dec. 21: “Shazam! Fury of the Gods”

What Are Dark Pools? Dark pools (or black pools), named for the lack of transparency, are private, alternative trading systems which allow institutional traders to buy and sell large amounts of stock anonymously and therefore without affecting movements in the market.
These exchanges were developed in the 1980s and as of February 2022, 64 dark pools were registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
The Controversy: The existence of dark pools hit the public psyche in early 2021, when GameStop Corp (NYSE: GME) and AMC Entertainment Holdings Inc (NYSE: AMC) skyrocketed 1,041% and 624%, respectively, over the course of four days.
In January and February 2021, institutional ownership of GameStop shares was reported to be more than 100% of the float, indicating more shares were being lent out than what was available. Naked shorting, which takes place primarily over dark pools, was blamed for the discrepancy, casting the existence of alternative exchanges into the spotlight.
See Also: The Final Call: Caterpillar, Advanced Micro Devices, Uber Technologies And This Tech Major
Dark Pools And Retail Traders: Direct dark pool trading is reserved for institutional traders and investors, but after the meme-stock saga, retail traders became more aware of how to use data from the dark exchanges to guide their strategies. This resulted in several apps emerging to provide dark pool feeds.
Approximately 40% of all executed trades take place on dark pools, and when large blocks of individual stocks are bought or sold over these exchanges, retail traders can use the information to understand what “smart money” is doing. The difficulty with dark pool data is that due to its inherent confidentiality, the trades give no indication as to whether an institution is buying or selling the stock.
For this reason, retail traders can watch dark pool data for above-average trading volumes on an individual stock and cross-reference that information with option flow.
If there is above average dark pool prints on a stock, paired with a high level of calls being purchased on the open market, it’s a good indication that institutions are buying over ATSs. Conversely, if large dark pool prints are followed by a large amount of open market put buying on the same stock, it can be assumed institutions are selling over ATSs.
Me to, and I believe it's possible. Jack Welch use to sand bag his earnings, AA kept saying Dr. Strange, yet, Dr. Strange's earnings were saved for this upcoming quarter.
Did AA set us up for a Pounce to remember? Should be fun for everyone long, personally, I think I'll have more fun hearing the shorts scream than counting my cash!
Falcon, I do not watch all the youtubers, just to many of them, so I don't know what the dude said; however, I believe we are in fundamental territory, check out our rival company. CNK or Cinemark Holdings,
So I disagree with you about SOME holders of AMC, for them, it could be a fundamental play, yet I fully agree with you that there's synthetic shares outstanding, BILLIONS and BILLIONS of them, I can't wait until earnings!
Part of the pounce!!!
Can't wait for earning, IMO, Adam didn't include any revenue from Dr. Strange, he's pulling an old Jack Welsh trick, sandbagging, then, the pounce!!!
If anything, they are still printing fake share. Little foolish folks that shorted might be covering, but not Kenny, IMO.
Is Gensler getting religious after Crypto beating, perhaps he's tightening up the dark pools as well as warning shorts.
Wen Pounce? AMC Entertainment CEO Hints At Crushing Short Sellers: Here's When The Squeeze Could Be On
6:47 pm ET July 7, 2022 (Benzinga)
Last year, AMC Entertainment Holdings Inc (NYSE: AMC) CEO Adam Aron welcomed the support of retail investors and pledged to "go on offense" by opening new theater locations, expanding into alternative programming and accepting a handful of cryptocurrencies.
Now the AMC CEO looks to be calling a new play.
What To Know: The retail investing crowd, who call themselves apes, will give you several different reasons why they continue to buy and hold AMC stock, but they are all on the same page about inducing a massive short squeeze and it seems Aron is rallying the troops.
The AMC CEO on Thursday noted that he keeps getting asked: "Wen pounce?"
"Know this: 1. I always keep my word. 2. I’ve said publicly a pounce would not happen before Second Quarter 2022 earnings are announced. 3. Press release issued today that Q2 earnings to be announced on Thurs, August 4. Read between those lines," Aron said via tweet.
AMC announced Thursday it will report its second-quarter financial results after the market closes on Aug. 4. Aron made it clear that "a pounce" would not occur until sometime after the company's upcoming report, however, the "I always keep my word" part suggests that said "pounce" will definitely take place at some point.
It seems Aron is hinting at crushing short sellers. At this time, 21.91% of AMC's float is currently sold short, according to data from Benzinga Pro.
Why It Matters: This isn't the first time the AMC CEO has taken an apparent shot at those betting against his company. Last year, during a live interview with Trey's Trades YouTube channel host Trey Collins, Aron "accidentally" dropped his webcam, revealing that he was not wearing pants. Many believed this was a way to stir up talk about short sellers.
Following AMC's strong earnings results at the end of June, Aron took to Twitter Inc (NYSE: TWTR) to celebrate the company's success.
Other than a few idiots that readily come to my mind, and likely yours, who in the - - - - can still say movie theatres are dead and have no future? Thank you Tom Cruise. Top Gun: Maverick just crossed $1 billion in global box office, in less than one month! #CHOKEonTHAT pic.twitter.com/gZMAsfnSeY
— Adam Aron (@CEOAdam) June 26, 2022
The “choke on that” part could have been in reference to short sellers once again. The hashtag "#chokeonthat" trended on Twitter following Aron's tweet.

Retail darlings GameStop Corp. (NYSE: GME) and Bed Bath & Beyond Inc. (NASDAQ: BBBY) also soared on Thursday, which seemed to wake up the AMC apes, but nothing rattles the cages of the apes more than a battle cry from the leader of the troop — apes strong together.
AMC Price Action: AMC has a 52-week high of $55.07 and a 52-week low of $9.70. The stock closed Thursday up 15.19% at $14.48.
Bed Bath & Beyond's interim CEO is betting big — with her own money — that she can save the struggling retailer from going out of business, despite what some analysts are speculating.
Sue Gove purchased $230,500 worth of stock in the home goods retailer, according to a new SEC filing released after the close of trading on Wednesday.
That's how you "pounce" on short sellers, our boy Aron sells his shares.
AMC needs Sue Gove on our Board of Directors!
AMC shares are trading higher amid strength in 'Reddit stocks' for the session as well as retail investor mentions on social media. The recent popularity of 'Top Gun: Maverick' and 'Minions: The Rise of Gru' have also possibly helped the theater space.
An earlier tweet from CEO Adam Aron also alluded to a 'pounce' on short sellers.
Summer Blockbusters Expected To Power Box Office In Second Half: Here's What's Next And A Look At 5 Stocks To Watch
11:07 am ET July 4, 2022 (Benzinga) Print
In 2021, only three movies grossed more than $200 million domestically at the box office. Six months into 2022, five movies have passed the $200 million domestic total, and more blockbusters could be on the way.
Experts see the domestic box office hitting between $7.5 billion and $8 billion for 2022, suggesting that the second half will come in a range of $3.9 billion to $4.4 billion and ahead of the first half of the year.
Here is a look at some of the most anticipated movies for the second half of 2022:
July 1: “Minions: The Rise of Gru”
July 8: “Thor: Love and Thunder”
July 22: “Nope”
Oct. 4: “Halloween Ends”
Oct. 21: “Black Adam”
Nov. 11: “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever”
Dec. 16: “Avatar: The Way of Water”
Dec. 21: “Shazam! Fury of the Gods”
Along with theatrical blockbusters coming in the second half of the year, streaming companies won’t be far behind.
The blockbuster slate from Netflix Inc (NASDAQ: NFLX) includes “The Sea Beast” from the writer of “Big Hero 6” and “Moana,” “The Gray Man” starring Ryan Gosling and Chris Evans, vampire movie “Day Shift” with Jamie Foxx, “Me Time” with Mark Wahlberg and Kevin Hart and more.
Disney+ subscribers will get highly anticipated releases of “Pinocchio” starring Tom Hanks in September, along with “Hocus Pocus 2,” a sequel to the 1993 film.

From Batman To Scorsese: 10 Highly Anticipated Movies For 2022 And What it Means
Stock to Watch: Adam Aron, CEO of movie theater company AMC Entertainment Holdings (NYSE: AMC) recently highlighted “Top Gun: Maverick” passing the $1-billion global box office mark. Aron has been hyping up the 2022 lineup all year and based on the results of the first half of the year, he might’ve been right all along.
AMC’s first quarter revenue of $785.7 million came in ahead of Street estimates and marked a large improvement over the $148.3 million reported for the first quarter of the previous year.
AMC is set to report second quarter earnings in August that will include the results from the blockbuster-filled June, and could use the report to highlight what’s in store the rest of the year.
Daniel Snyder doesn't even show up to lie, but Roger Goodell an American Attorney (friend of the court and all that stuff) who is also currently the Commissioner of the National Football League also lied while under oath, just like Ole Kenny Boy, Roger also appears to be getting away with it.
When you're paying people, they are your employees and you can lie to them.
NFL plays nearly as well as Citadel.
Many believe Avatar 2 will break it's old record, as for being included in AMC's 12/31 quarter, only Adam Aron knows, who knows what he'll do, he is in show business after all, he should be full of fun and surprises when we hear about current quarter on August 8th.

Yes it did, but Elvis beat Top Gun II, that means that the old folks are back buying popcorn with a 95% markup.
Hot Dog.....................no, I don't know what that mark up is :)
AMC is a screaming buy due to exactly what you posted!
Nor have they heard Aron Adams claim that average movie goer is spending 24% more now than pre pandemic, plus 3.3 million saw Top Gun II
I'd take any kind of help we could get to move north, wouldn't you?
You're assuming that they are borrowing shares to short, as I have said, I do not believe that's the case. It's naked shorting that's going on and on and on.
Could be just me, but when I was young, I believe there was more credibility in everything and everyone.
No truer words were ever spoken, next earning report is August 8th, our very own Adam Aron was going nuts about Dr. Strange in the last report, he had to love Top Gun and I'm certain Elvis will do great, lots of popcorn will be eaten between now and then, 95% profit on that popcorn, to boot.
We'll start our own MOASS.
Bio, do you watch Level II, Gensler can say whatever he wants to say, so can I. I believe they are still selling synthetic shares, that's why you're seeing how many shares are available to borrow. We are buying invoices, not shares.
