Been a buyer and holder of this stock for 5 years. Have seen it all and felt the highs(potential) and lows (management) during that time. But something kept me holding this and not selling despite my feelings about top management. I have questioned this decision of holding many times throughout the years and wondered/wished that the so called executives of this company would suddenly and magically appear more professional when interviewed or turn over all public PR duties to one more polished in communication. I always felt the product had merit but the executive management was questionable to say the least. Front men/women, like it or not are a serious reflection on the validity and potential acceptance and success of the company, especially for a PUBLICLY TRADED company where investors directly affect the stock price of the company. Lets be honest, our leader does not come across as a polished orator or presenter. So what has kept me around this long? Well, a couple of things. First, of course the product. If played right after FDA acceptance, by taking advantage of the powerful negativity surrounding present day pain medications, I have always felt this could take off. So of course I am waiting and hoping for FDA acceptance. With that said I have always felt that this was inevitable since almost all other countries have accepted this science. Canada especially. I felt, if Canada (and now Europe) are allowing over the counter sales, why not the US. Secondly, I have always felt that this company, if FDA approved, would be a good target for a buyout by one with deeper pockets. One with lucrative resources could promote this product to seriuos profitability. See there is the catch: FDA approved. This is the single most important milestone. With that (market) being right in our backyard, much more attention will be paid to marketing. Thus as income comes in, more attention can be paid to foreign marketing. I feel that has always been the sequence that management had foreseen: USA first, then foreign. But we all know now, that because of the FDA, the reverse had to happen. NOW, with this latest ray of hope from the FDA, there might just be a bright light shining down this long dark road.
You can be sure that all biotechnology companies, pharmaceuticals and medical research companies (especially others in the stem cell field) are watching ACTC and its trials very closely. This verification of a new frontier in science will affect MANY other companies pro or con. I am sure that other stem cell research companies are anxious to see positive results from this trial as it would also verify their own research. ACTC is at the forefront of all for commercialization and will be the first to reap the rewards of a successful trial, but this is a win win for ALL stem cell research companies. When news of trial success, all companies in this field will see shareholder value increase as the "doubt" of this science is totally washed away. The big Pharmas, on the other hand, also watching these trials, will have to re-evaluate their strategy going forward. Will they sit back and watch this new science put a serious hurt on their products (drugs) making some nearly useless or will they include this new science for cures into their arsenal of products for treatments. These are VERY powerful companies in both the medical AND FINANCIAL world. All one has to do is look at Wall Street and see the value that the markets put on companies such as MERCK, PFIZER, J&J, etc. I am betting that they will have no choice but to buy/partner with the first that verifies this science (ACTC).
Where do you see that they are seeking ACTC's IP as compensation in this matter? Please provide info to where you believe that this is what is sought in this case or why you would think that ACTC's IP would be the compensation from this default. There would have to be some SERIOUS OFFENSE by ACTC that would cause a judge to award something as important as its IP to the plaintiff. Seriously, does that appear to be fair compensation for a DEFAULT?? REALLY?? -- steal something as important as the very essence of what ACTC IS? The accusing party deserves THAT because of a default? I don"t think so! I am not a judge but that would be a seriously unfair decision and penalty. That is NOT going to happen IMO!
>>Sounds like a threat of BK to me!<<
Nah, not at all. Sounds like negotiations to commence with both parties. If you have ever been involved in any litigation, the most extreme monetary reward is originally sought by the plaintiff in the lawsuit, seeking an answer and/or counter offer from the defendant. Very seldom is that original figure achieved nor is there ANY guarantee on ANY successful and/or positive decision forthcoming for the plaintiff. Just because a lawsuit is filed does NOT constitute wrongdoing on the part of the defendant. They (the defendant ACT) will have due opportunity to present their "side of the story" which will most likely lead to negotiations and settlement. If ACTC feels very strongly that the lawsuit is without merit, they will be willing to commence further with a trial date and accept an arbitrator's decision. IMO this will not happen. There is also the possibility after reviewing the facts that the case will not even be allowed to be heard by the judge trying the case. BK?? Nice try, but I seriously think NOT!
Excellent video. Great find Chuck. Big player as possible partner/buyout in UK and/or USA? The fact that he mentions ACT in this interview gives it food for thought!
>>new treatments, or cures, for diseases like diabetes and Alzheimer’s.<<
....and the story continues to grow....along with the potential uses and cures for these cells! Alzheimer and Diabetes--how BIG is THAT!!
And this exciting story continues to inform the masses. Very impressive. Only a matter of "TIME" until this story explodes!
They are NOT going to lose their IP. This and all other demise and bankruptcy BS is just that. 1.2 million (if responsible for) is NOT going to bankrupt this company. This is all good fodder for those that have an agenda to use such. Remember in a court of law there is ALWAYS 2 sides to every story.
When all panic and run for exits, it is time to enter and take what was left behind.
Excuse my ignorance, but are we talking about 1.2 million as the monetary figure in question pertaining to this litigation?
1.2 million? This is what we are talking about? A default of 1.2 million payable to who? Sorry not getting the bottom line for reason of price decline today and hysteria on this board. Any info would be appreciated.
>Search for a solid CEO. Could Big Pharma/JV want say in selection?<
I have gone over this in my mind since the wonderful news of Rabin's departure (shown the exit door). I have conjured up various reasons for his "dismissal" and my thoughts and reasons for such always goes back to exactly what you are asking. I really feel and hope that this was a prerequisite for the commencement of some JV or partnering/merger agreement - the first step you might say. His position, with his TOTAL lack of expertise in this field of science/medicine, was expendable, especially with the possibility that the position of CEO is already occupied by the prospective partner.
Elysse, by this post you are revealing your age!! LOL. Sadly I also remember the show quite well. In fact it was one of my favorites! ROD SERLING, the host? Perhaps ACTC could have been the concept of one of the shows since futuristic possibilities were sometimes the storyline in some of their episodes. Great show, and hopefully ACTC will be a great story come true!
Nice write up. AND from MIT!! Those three letters carry a whole lot of weight in the business and financial world. Powerful to say the least. Only a matter of time til this (ACTC's work) is respected and acknowledged by the scientific AND financial powers to be.
I am a buyer and holder and buyer of this stock since 2010. I am not concerned about the decline of its price. There is NO bad news that I can see that is its cause for declining price. This happens to ALL speculative stocks with future awaiting news, during "dead" periods, when the 'waiting' period progresses for a considerable length of time. No news, low volume is an MMs dream. I look at this as opportunities to add. Remember, no news -- no problem. I actually get excited at the opportunity to increase my holdings. How many times as the price goes northward have we said, "DAMM, I should have bought more"? Well here it is!
By owning SO MANY shares they can do what they want with the stock price especially with low volume days. Keep it low so that they personally can purchase and accumulate shares in the open market and continue so until they are ready to take their profits, of which then they will let the stock run and release their hold on the stock. Game is simple when you own SO MANY shares. In essence they are basically buying and selling their own shares over and over again. This is why I was not pleased to hear about this relationship with a "capital" company, as we as small investors are at the MERCY of Lincoln Capital until THEY ARE READY TO LET IT FLY (if at all - are they shorting?). "Been there done that". CAPITAL COMPANIES have the money, power and expertise to accomplish this.
Probably no new exciting news to be revealed tomorrow based on the action of the stock price today. Seems like there are always some "in the know" that affect the price before "hopeful news" events. Watch the action prior to him speaking, it should reflect a possible mundane presentation or something relevent from the lips of Lanza.
My feelings exactly, and I find it humorous that people actually expected something oustanding to be announced (by the stock price reaction) at this stupid CC. I have heard my share of these over the 5 years in this stock and many more years in others and I have seen, quite often, this overreaction (price rise) prior to these CCs and the result (price decrease) after. If there was some earth shattering good news that was to come from the mouths of the executives, it would have come in a PR. CCs are a formality to pacify the shareholders on the companies "concern" for its investors with "staying in touch". Right!, like any head honcho really cares about his stockholders!! They (CCs) are a vehicle to BS the stockholders and give hope to their investment. I will say though, I would much rather hear a mundane conference that is truthful than an excitable BS speach from some phoney selfish hedgefund manager. The science will make or break this investment and the trials will dictate such.
They (short sighted instant gratification folk) serve a very important function in this game of Wall Street. Please don't knock them. Those impatient minds help "investors" (not traders) to the fullest. Their follow the leader style, when they do not hear something they had hoped to hear, causing panic selling, is just what true investors wait for. Let them bring the price down on NO bad news. This is when we get an opportunity to buy more shares at a price that we had hoped to buy at. There are 2 types in Wall Street; traders and investors, both very different approaches for making $$$ in the financial marketplace. Niether one is the wrong or right approach. But knowing how/when to play the others moves can be very beneficial. Please keep the price down longer, I will be adding.
See, that's why I have never sold - only added along the way on dips. Knowing that the good news would hit while I am on the sidelines makes me patient and comfortable riding the ups and downs of this stock. Would hate to be out when the result of positive news would rocket the price. I made a commitment when I bought my first shares to ride this out to the conclusion of trials. If I lose, so be it. That would hurt less than missing the affects of some outstanding news and the trials success.
I don't think we could over emphasize the importance of what you say. All that HAS happened and IS happening in that process of cleaning house, points to some positive event in the future IMO.
1) Settling lawsuits
2) SEC settlement
3) Ousting of useless CEO
All are a prescription for curing this company. All very necessary for legitimatizing this company for the next important step of partnering, buyout and uplisting to higher exchange. I really feel that we will now see these next steps after release of positive trial data. Is there a probability of going it alone? Don't really see this as possible as of now, but an appointment of a qualified medical "BUSINESS" mind as CEO would make me consider such a possibility. Been waiting many years for what I feel is about to occur. Am still cautious, but excited.
IMO, no one WAS going to fund this company or take a serious position in its future with Rabin still in the CEO position. Thus the neccessary exit of his employment. I see this company as a much more legit enterprise with his non existance. And FAR, I have to totally agree with you, as I see NO other penny stock company in the publically traded arena that has the potential explosive possibilities as this investment. Then why are we still trading so low when there is this amazing potential? Isn't Wall Street forward looking when pricing stocks? My opinoin is that for the most part the "big money" in Wall Street investing comes from "conservative" investors - money managers, financial advisors, fund managers, etc. All have to answer to their clients as to the success or failure of their recommendations, thus they tend to stick with conservative investments with higher probabilities of success. Their big money is what moves the price of the stocks. We are NOT at that point yet. We are invested in a remarkable story, but a risky one at that - all or nothing. That is what scares the big $$ away. We as small retail invetsors can take the risk as we only have to answer to ourselves (well maybe also to our spouses, lol). On the brighter side IF/WHEN these trials validate this science and ACTC, that same money from the big boys, that has held us down by NOT investing in our company, WILL suddenly be our catalist in price appreciation as that conservative BIG $$ comes our way.
The first step in getting a "White Knight" was getting rid of the "Black Knight". That has been successfully accomplished with the ousting of our self centered former leader and CEO.
That, to me is encouraging, as it is becoming obvious as to the impact this science will have on the medical and financial landscape.
There you go! LOL, so at 4 billion shares outstanding we are sitting on a $320 million market cap with our price of .08. That is with 1 to 1 P/E ratio. Much more room to run. If WE could have a 28 billion market cap that would give us a price of $7. Add a conservative P/E of 5 and we are sitting at a price of $35. I'll take that! LOL, nice to dream sometimes.
This is my last comment on this subject as opinions are just that. A CEO of a major corporation oversees the TOTAL operation of a company. He should not be tied down to a specifc field. Now if you are talking about a mom and pop corporation, yes it could be done. Yes they (a CEO) can and will have an area inwhich they formerly served, ie sales, marketing etc., but they should leave those duties to his/her hires. They (CEOs) have the WHOLE corporation and ALL its departments to oversee. I am talking about a MAJOR corporation. Why should our brilliant mind worry about shareholder feedback or getting a PR out at the right time?I would think that the science is enough of a job in its own - and the utmost IMPORTANT job. Scientists think that since their mind is brilliant in a complex field that EVERY other job would be a cakewalk and any simple mind can do it. It amazes me that some people think that highly of themselves that they belittle other employment/professional positions. I have known many in the medical profession that are totally ignorant in other fields - and THAT IS FINE. I want them to concentrate on their expertice and not have to worry about all other aspects of the business. Please enough with the insults, it only belittles those that use them. We as stockholders are on the same side.
WOW WOW WOW, I cannot believe those words I just read. In other words, you are saying that being a great scientist means you WILL also be a great CEO. SO what u r saying is that since an electrician is great, he is also a great chef??? When you are brilliant at one thing you are brilliant at all. Correct? Evidently you have never worked in the corporate world where jobs and duties are employee specific. Hiring for one field does not make for capability in performing in another. If I am an accountant and a dam good one, that doesn't mean I am capable of performing surgery or even repairing A/C. Please compare apples to apples. Being a great scientist definitely does not imply you would be a great CEO. ON the contrary!! Does being a great CEO mean you would be a great scientist?? I think that is obvious! WOW!
I agree!! We do NOT want Lanza to take the CEO position. NO WAY!! If that happens, I am OUT. He has a title (with an associated salary) and specifcally very important job to do. Let him concentrate on this remarkable science and ways to implicate such. He does not need to be bothered by the cut throat end of being a publically held company, dealing with shareholders and Wall Street. A CEO MUST be a business mind and familiar with the publically traded arena. I have stated before if he takes the CEO position, to me, he is more sefishly interested in the salary that comes with it, than the company as a whole. I have seen in another investment where the "good" doctor took the position of Ceo prior to clinical trials and the trials FAILED. No skin off his azz, he was still handsomely rewarded as the shareholders lost tremendously. If Lanza, with no background in running a private or publically traded company, takes the CEO position, it would REEK of foul play and deception. Remember our former HEDGEFUND manager took the CEO position and its SALARY when he was supposed to be heading the SEARCH for a NEW CEO. How did that work out?? GREAT for him / terrible for the stockholders. If anyone wants to point a finger at the decline of this company and its perception on Wall Street, THAT is where it should be pointed. Self Centered CEOs destroy these types of companies. They work FOR the shareholders and are PAID by the shareholders (with our investments) in these start up companies with NO revenue. Their total disregard for the shareholders, IMO is criminal
>>ACTC has always been a share-selling scheme from my POV, and likely will remain as such until proper changes are made.<<
There is no doubt that the past has NOT been shareholder friendly. This goes all the way back to the leadership days of Caldwell and then Rabin conveniently taking the CEO position and salary while he was supposed to be leading the search for that vacant CEO position after Caldwell's death. Much of the questionable shenanigans can be found on Rabin's "watch". He has now been shown the exit door. Lets hope this is start of credibility and progress for the company benefiting the long time shareholders.
I hope this price rise today is the result of the most recent news and not because of "expectations" of what might be said at the regenerative medicine conference tomorrow. If the latter is true it is usually followed by a drop in share price when no expected earth shattering news is revealed. Interesting to see end of day action.
When I bought this stock years ago (2009) after learning of the news and trials for SMD and AMD, I never thought that this company was going to be a one trick pony. I bought because I saw the potential of "curing" numerous other afflictions beside eyesight with various forms of stem cells and combinations. This most recent news validates my prior reasons for investing in this company and its science. Curing or halting progressive "blindness" is earth shattering enough, but much more can be said for the outstanding accomplishments and cures this company can achieve through the use of various forms of stem cells. I think we are just now seeing the tip of of the iceburg of what is the future of this "SCIENCE". I have always viewed these macular degeneration trials as the VERIFICATION of stem cells and their huge potential. Only now can we honestly say that this coming very close to fruition. "The future is NOW"!
I do too! History shows that IMPORTANT news is most always reported after the close of Wall Street. If they would have wanted it revealed during trading hours their would most likely have been a 'halt' in the trading of their shares. That is always nerve racking if it is one of your stocks as it could be very GOOD news or very BAD news. After hours major news usually means a drastic price change at the open. Been there done that when you invest in medical companies waiting on trial news.
Most likely news like this is always released or reported after trading hours.
Also as I have stated before, I see this as a positive as I take this as another step in the ongoing process of uplisting and possible JV or partnering. Getting their ducks in order!
I don't see why this would result in any correlation with the issuing of more stock. I have a background in accounting and if I have read this correctly (not extensively) it is an earnings adjustment. Could be to which period posted or numbers misplaced or inaccurate, etc. Most likely recourse and correction would be to adjust financials to accurately represent the financial condition for specific quarters. Again I have not studied the context of such extensively but I see no apparent correlating reason why this could result in the need to add to outstanding shares.
Have been in this stock since 2009 and I have heard ALL the reasons why this company and science will fail by the constant postings of those that want to see the stock price fall. The first negative was the certainty of tumor growth after implantation of these cells. After that was not happening, they had to come up with another negative: financial; management; etc etc. Now we have one of them them admitting the safety of these cells. Probably was from the same crowd preaching "danger" of tumor growth years ago. After one of their "doom" proclamations are exposed as nonsense there will ALWAYS be another they will conjure up. It is their job IMO. What to do with such types? A.Put on ignore B. Hit next post immediately after seeing their name, or C)My favorite: Read their post and enjoy the humor from the ridiculousness of its content, along with the obvious reasons for them doing such.
Nice find Lasers. I don't think you can underestimate the importance of the acceptance and informed knowledge of this science by our political leaders. Only after their education and understanding of this science and knowledge as to the enormous benefits this new science brings "to the table", will there be the necessary backing, both politically and financially, from the one entity that can/will push this (acceptance) through: our government!. Let there be no mistake, our representatives have no lack of EGOS. They ALL will want to be known as a political supporter of this science when this is eventually and successfully recognized.
Gas, I have been in this too long to get excited about any upcoming CC's. Seen over and over again the price rise on any hopeful expected info coming from the CC, only to fall dramatically immediately after the CC when no "revelation" is reported, just the same mumbojumbo reiterated in previous calls. I feel the real "pop" in the stock price would/could occur when unexpected PR comes out on positive pertinent news about trial. In the meantime I just hold and add to my holdings and patiently wait for that time. Trading not my style, as fear of being "out" when such occurs would be severely painful watching and chasing the pop and rise in price. Not to say that it (trading) could not be very profitable to those that do. Hope that I am wrong and some surprisingly GOOD news comes out of the CC, though.
OUCH!! Thanks Elyesse, that was a bad mistake. Of course I meant LANZA. Better check if I forgot to take my meds this morning. LOL
This is one, you just might be right! With a buyout or merger Rabin may be working for a new and much more powerful BIO or Pharmaceutical Company and we as stockholders will, in the event of a merger, have shares in such.
