Proposition 19 Gains Steam; Latest Poll Shows Prop 19 Set to Pass
Great News for CBIS SFIO IMAI. Great ready for some decent gains over the next few trading sessions!!!
LONG BEACH, CA--(Marketwire - October 28, 2010) - With only one week left in the race to legalize marijuana in California, Long Beach dispensary Cornerstone Health and Wellness is urging all Californians to vote yes on Prop 19.
According to a new poll by EMC Research commissioned by the Yes on 19 campaign, the poll standings are significantly different from the LA Times/USC Poll that found the tax and regulate measure trailing by a wide margin. The results of a new poll by Prop 19 backers say thousands of voters might be saying "no" when asked, but voting "yes" in private. Prop 19 is winning 56 to 41 in this recent automated poll of 1,043 respondents.
"Although the polls are different, people need to get out and vote regardless," said Ryan Evans president of Cornerstone. "The only way to truly ensure that the proposition passes is for everybody to unify and rise to the occasion in this plight by voting yes. This is an exciting evolutionary period that should be embraced by everybody. We can all truly make our mark in history by passing this new measure," said Evans.
Cornerstone further notes that published in a study by Dr. Tod Mikuriya, MD, cannabis has an astounding success rate if used as a substitute for people with alcohol dependence. Some experts predict that if cannabis is decriminalized that it has the potential of weaning people naturally off of alcohol reducing the amount of overall drinking and driving related crimes and fatalities. "The chance to take a dent out of drunk driving is too great to overlook when it comes to the potential of Prop 19," said a spokesperson for Cornerstone.
On October 19, 2010 a group of mothers in favor of Prop 19 spoke out calling themselves moms for Prop 19. The moms say regulating and taxing marijuana could mean more resources for schools, while also making it harder for kids to get marijuana. "If you ask any kid in high school what's the easiest drug for them to get their hands on, they're going to say marijuana," said Gretchen Burns Bergman, co-founder and executive director of A New PATH (Parents for Addiction Treatment and Healing). "Easier than tobacco. Easier than alcohol, and those are related."
If Prop 19 passes, the state is expected to collect approximately 1.4 billion in tax revenue in the first year.
"All Californians must join together in spreading the word to vote yes on Prop 19 and to make an asserted effort to get everybody they know to vote on the upcoming ballot November 2nd," Evans said. "The race will be a close one and people will need to take this fight to the ballot box by voting." The law will go into effect the next day if it passes.

SFIO Closing near HOD
IMAI still good?
I think that shake 1st thing this morning was a cover on their short position.
IMAI should have a great week leading into Nov 2 when Proposition 19 is up for vote in California. Early polls show nice margin in favor of Prop 19!
Whos ready for a strong week?
IMAI will be the runner this week with Proposition 19 up for vote on Nov2 or next Tuesday. Early polls show california voting yes by a 7% margin!
IMAI is going to rock this week going into the Nov 2nd vote for Proposition 19. Early polls show the state of California in favor by a strong margin!!
TPL. What are your thoughts for IMAI going into the Proposition 19 vote on Novmeber 2nd?
Current Polls show a majority of Californians in favor. This should boost IMAI into the teens. Your thoughts?
IMAI - the book value of IMAI is $0.10 ($16.4MM in assets and 164MM shares issued).
Also, only 8.3MM outstanding. Meaning, the float is only 8.3MM per the July 07, 2010 financial filing.
That is book value of $0.10/share. None of that $0.10 takes into account potential upside for the company in their business ventures.
