That, is the "Big Prize"...
MSFT, IBM, PANASONIC, YOU name it, all the "Big Boys" are after the "Big Prize" of a "Star Trek" type voice integration, adapted to a universal translator, where you can say "COMPUTER ON" and then talk to the device to make it "deliver" in whatever language...
Imagine 1.5 billion chineese and 1 billion Indians as a potential Market for such technologial coup...
Edig would really "arrive" when we find out that the present "Voice Nav.", (which appears to be the only one that functions in the market), turns out to be integrated with FONX in the generation of Windows called "VOICE NAV."...
Where is DABOSS when we need his "AND YOU ARE HERE"? Lol...

Everytime I had the occassion to talk to my wife about EDIG, she would say "EHHH, sell the stupid stock"...
This morning she had a chance to talk to my son the EE, who has technical knowledge about these things...
I walked in the house after a long walk, and I was just about floored when she confronted me with a specific request that she wanted an 0-1000 as a X-mass gift. Well, I figure if she wants one ordered, this baby is a definite winner...Lol...

Yes, IT IS A "BRANDED" version of 0-1000. And as such, it can have some features, or all of the features of 0-1000. It all depends on what the "Customer" asks Digital Way to put into his version...

It has been a great Thanksgiving Day here. Hope you had a good one too...
It is midnight, and I decided to show my Thanks for all your stallwart work done this board, by going back to 12/03/2000, to show you that the Portal Player-Edig connections goes back almost two years now...
It just was put on the back burnner because of the economic collapse of the markets...
It was not till recently that Portal Player managed to complete a $40 Million round of fincancing, and opened the throttle on increasing its share of the market in making Platforms for MP3 players...
The following post from December 2000 is a description of the TANGO PLATFORM announced by portal player which describes a multi codec capability platform...

You can see that emit's post was no surprise to those of us who keep an eye for these things. In fact emit himself mentioned this in his post, wondering why it took so long to announce the Portal Player-Edig connection...
Few months before the announcment by Portal Player of the TANGO Platform, I learned from a reliable source that they had made the decision to go in the business of making platforms for MP3 players by getting TI DSP chips, and had a small company write them a software for control of the Reverb. and Equalizer, to incorporate in their platforms which was announced in December as TANGO PLATFORM...
Beleive me, when I say, I have no doubts of the fact that we shall see a "Cascading Effect" immediately after arrival of
0-1000...
We have had almost two years delay in all the relationships, that EDIG had built during these "Famine Years", to become money making relationships. The big push has started by TI making the chips, selling them to Portal Player, who makes the Platforms, selling them to Digital Way, who makes the MP3 player units selling them to "Customers", who "Brand" them and market them to the public, either through retailers, or however they choose...
Money is getting loosened up and flows back in the equity markets, content is becoming available, and the demand is being created as shown by last week ends Sunday article in Parade...
This Parade had started and this not "irrational exuberance"...

First, you are wlecome... I really beleive "trading" in a stock such as EDIG is more of a head ache than it is worth it.
My approach to stocks is that of the person discussed in the article, and I sleep much better at nights...
As to your question posed in 19318?...
It is happening as we speak. More important is the question of how EDIG is coming along?...
As to that question, I had addressed it in a previous post. Here it is...

sfgolf...I WILL JUMP IN HERE...
3-5 years to execute the original Business Plan to bring an INNOVATIVE TECHNOLOGY to the market place...
Add to that couple of years missed because of the collapse of the Eqity Markets, and you end up with LL's time line...
My hope is that once the Money starts getting back into the equity markets, (and that started couple of weeks ago), coupled with "Cascading" effect of the events started with the O-1000 introduction, we will have a shortening of the time, as far as the lost 2 years are concerned...
I see Edig getting on solid footing in 2003, and expanding thereafter as markets expand...
The more digital data is out there, and the more complicated
the delivery systems get, there will be more "need" for MOS and its cousins dealing with picture tranmission...

50+...THANK YOU FOR YOUR "DIFFINITIVE" POST...
It affirms my conviction that MOS and MICRO-CAM, the "Technology" EDIG has been trying to market these past 4 years, are in a class of their own, and there is nothing out there that comes close to comepeting with them once digital transmission of data becomes the dominent method of communication on the NET...
EDIG management has had an exceptionally ruff road to plough during these past years. However, as your post clearly sets forth, the seeds have been sown, and the products and relationships are there to finally generate some income...
All we can do is to WAIT A LITTLE LONGER...

I know you have both been aroun for a long time; and, blackdog I really do like Blackdogs. I just got a Black Lab. puppy to replace my old one (15 years) who had to be put to sleep...
On the question of Mos can do that other methods of making MP3 players cannot, there are far better qualified persons here to get technical about it...
The simple fact is that one starts with the words "Seemless", and "Agnostic" and "Flash". Then one reads as much as one can understand about how "Audio Files" accomplish the task of transmitting digital music on the NET, and have it come of earphones connected to an MP3 player...
The site below was one of the ones posted by murgirl earlier to indicate that other Mp3 players can play Mp3 files and WMA files. It gives a reasonable explanation as why AAC is the better choice of the current three "MP3 Files" available, and
makes a passing reference as to how the unit in question manages to shift from reading MP3 files to WMA files...
Though I am not a "Technical Person", I have talked with such persons and read enough to understand that the method described is not in the same class as MOS, nor can it do as good job as MOS can with regard to clarity of sound, and ability to handle great volumes of data "Seemlessly"...
Data Play "Adored Edig Technology" because it allowed it to accomplish the task without need for big volume of disc space to store the data coming in one "File" form, then translating it to the other "File" form. Their disc was only 500 MGB and EDIG solved their problem...
I am convinced, and there has been nothing to contradict this conviction, that there is nothing out there that can do what Mos and Micro Cam can do...
Thus, IMO any unit that is touted to be multi codec, must either be a unit with EDIG technology inside, or it will have a big bulky size to accomodate data translation from one codec to another...

Where have you been all this time?...
Don't you recall that DATA PLAY had to fly few EDIG engineers to Colorado, and host them there for wa week or so before CES 2000 so as they could have a "Functional Product" at show time?
All I said was that if the DATA PLAY unit is multi codec operational you can bet the ranch that EDIG is inside it...
These are not "Facts" as you and jimc would like to have...
They are my best opinions based on what I have gathered so far.

LGJ...
Will you please add this to the 4 pictures, to make it 5?...
http://www.ickorea.com/products/data.asp
It would be interesting to keep up a pictorial list of all the multi codec MP3 players... At some point in the future we are
apt to hear PRs on those that are EDIG enabled...
We can then have something to test the "Hypothesis" that if it is multi codec operational, it has EDIG in it...
Regards...Gilgamash...
murgirl...
In the picture LGJ posted you see O-1000 and Yepp 900 side by side...
My ubderstanding is that the "Platform" in these units are not made by Digital Way. They are essentially an "Assembler" of the units ( making sure the form is to the customer's liking and the switches work, etc.), with the "Technology" and/or "Platforms" coming from such sources as EDIG or Portal Player...
If you go back to CES 2000, you will recall that TI was the prime maker of DSP chips which went into "Platforms" made by companies who were selling to "Customers" who wanted to make MP3 players...
Then, it was clear that the TI DSPS could be sold "As is", which were good enough to make an MP3 player which played
MP3 files, or you could have a DSP which had a "Kernel" of MOS
embedded on it, which gave it the capacity to be "Activated" by EDIG, (for a fee of course), to give the "customer" the
capability of having a multi codec player designed and made for him by folks like Digital Way...
We know 0-1000 is multi codec operational...And, Tinraod noted that so is Yepp-900...
Thus it is not the brand of the "Platform" that matters. It is what DSP is on the particular platform used by Digital Way to assemble the final unit for the customers that make the difference...
As I said before, we do not know the answers to what DSP is used on the platforms on each of the three units assembled by Digital Way, (O-1000, Yepp-900, and I-Pod), but we do know that O-1000 and Yepp-900 are multi codec operational, and I-Pod is not...

That, my friend, makes me more sure that the Samsung unit is a "Branded" version of O-1000...
As to the moncodecism of I-Pod, I see that as a great blessing at this juncture...
I am positive Steve Jobs and his "Legal Department" have been burning the midnight oil to put a Kibosh on O-1000...
And, I beleive that the delay in production, changing the "Face" of 0-1000, and delaying the introduction of the "Drag & Rip", were all the required "Dance" to build up a defense against any actions initiated by Apple...
Immagine, Steve Jobs trying to convince a jury that 0-1000 is a copy of his I-Pod?...
I would like to defend that law suit...
What irks me sometimes, is to read all the vituperative comments by some posters questioning the management's ability in playing the high stakes game of penetrating a dogie
dog market on a shoestring budget...
The boys in powey are playing in a high stakes chess game, and they have figured out 20 moves in advance...GRIN...

LL...
My understanding has always been that EDIG is the "Technology" and Digital Way is the "Production Line."
Samsung's relationship with EDIG goes back as far as CES 2000.
They were in the Data Play Pavilion area, along with EDIG. And had a host of products utilizing EDIG and Data Play Technology.
As late as few days ago, RP made a clear comment to the effect that everyone can make an MP3 player without needing EDIG Technology. This had a clear inference that unless the OEMS wanted a Top of the line MP3 player, having the ability to be multi codec operational, and function as good as TREO or O-1000 they need not call on EDIG...
Thus the statements that Digital Way, (who is the maker of gizmos for OEMS, including I-Pod), will be refering OEMS to EDIG, if some of them wanted to "Brand" a TREO, of 0-1000...
In the meantime, Digital Way is "producing" the 0-1000, and has the right to market it in ASIA and EUROPE, and is looking hard for OEMS to brand it and sell it in North America...
This brings us to the Samsung Unit which has started all this discussion.
The unit is a look alike to O-1000. Is it something Digital Way "Produced" for Samsung?, using the EDIG technology, or is it just a "Form" without substance?
We do not know the answer to these questions unless and until EDIG and Samsung tell us...
Given the history of Samsung-Edig relationship, I would be surprised if Samsung did not merely come up with a "Branded" version of 0-1000...
Regards...Gilgamash...
LL...
It looks like a "Duck". But, does it "Quack Like a Duck?."...
May be an e-mail to Samsung would clear the question if it is Multi Codec operational?...
If that answer be "YES", I would feel much more comfortable saying it is Edig...
Regards...Gilgamash...
Med.rare...
Sure looks like a "Branded" 0-1000...
I would have felt better if it said it operated in "Multi Codec" formats...

I started to write something in response. Half way through it, I recalled my self imposed rule not to engage in any "negative"

I will note, however, that this community is made up of all types of characters. Some us wear our hearts on our sleeves, and the stresses of these past three years have not been a picnic either...

Having said all this, I merely request that we disengage from the "Personalization" of our posts, and focus only on the future of our investment...
