I very much hope that's true.
What's the source of this macho mentality? Sure, sometimes there's a deadline, and people need to pull out the stops and work well into the night to meet a deadline, but they shouldn't have to do that for more than two or three days, and they should get comp time when the emergency is over.
Exhausted people don't do good work. And that applies to hospital residents as well. the tradition is, it seems, to work very long days. Why? To prepare for some kind of medical crisis they'll probably never experience? I think most people would rather not be treated by a doctor finishing up a 24 hour shift.
I think one of the few good things about this century is that in the last decade or so, people have been giving more thought to work-life balance, as Europeans always have. The time you spend burning the midnight oil and drinking coffee in the office is time you'll never get back. Sure, there are some people for whom work is everything. They enjoy it more than they enjoy anything else in life. But they are not the norm.
So what do you think of heat pumps?
I think at bottom, B4 just wants to "own the Libs". Even if things get worse for him.
That is true. What Reagan did to the air controllers did an enormous amount of damage to unions generally.
Enjoy your evening at the pub!
Alas, you are correct. But unfortunately, way too many Trumpkins and some Libertarians are obsessed by what they feel is their RIGHT to do whatever they please, even if it hurts others.
Then we have people like Musk, who do not understand what proper "free speech" is.
Awful people.
That is interesting:
Dr. Patrick Soon-Shiong, the owner of the Times, will not allow the editorial board to endorse Vice President Kamala Harris or former President Donald Trump, Semafor reports.
Soon-Shiong is a bigtime biotech investor. He has a finger in many pies. I followed the KEYO story for a while. I didn't form a good impression of him.
And this must have been from before he bought the L.A. Times:
Cher accuses L.A. billionaire Patrick Soon-Shiong of stock sale fraud. She sold willingly, suit defendants say
Performer Cher is suing Los Angeles billionaire Patrick Soon-Shiong, alleging he and others duped her into selling shares in a promising drug company at a fraction of the stock’s value.
In January 2016, Cher sold her shares in a Florida-based biopharmaceutical company, Altor, at $1.50 each — for a total of $450,000 — for “an unreasonably below-market price,” according to a lawsuit filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court on Friday. Cher sold her shares back to the company.
Soon-Shiong, through his firm NantCell, acquired the outstanding shares of Altor in 2016 for about $15 million. The suit contends that Altor now is worth “over $1 billion.”...

I suspect she didn't win, but won't be looking it up...
If anyone's interested, these are my posts from the KEYO board:

I'd love to have a pet porcupine...
How odd.
LOL!! But they don't release their quills on people they like. Apparently they're friendly and affectionate. Most don't talk like Teddy, though.
But in fact these changes run counter to the historical trend in the U.S., which has overwhelmingly been to increase public health powers during epidemics."
Which seems to be an entirely rational thing to do.
I dunno. But I believe the authorities in a lot of places are keeping an eye on them. Everything they do, publish, film or whatever is "anti-communist", with specific reference to China.
It would be deeply ironic if their actual goal were to get people to trust them and then turn them into "ChiComs", but I think most people would just feel confused. And what they do is so very boring. Except for the cute animal videos.
That's interesting, but it must be true of tons of stuff on YouTube.
Isn't Teddy adorable?
Oooohhh, the Epoch Times is a real winner. They try to make themselves seem harmless by posting cute animal videos on YouTube. But...
The Epoch Times is a far-right[1] international multi-language newspaper and media company affiliated with the Falun Gong new religious movement.[9][10][11][12] The newspaper, based in New York City, is part of the Epoch Media Group, which also operates New Tang Dynasty (NTD) Television.[13] The Epoch Times has websites in 35 countries but is blocked in mainland China.[14]...

They also run that annoying Shen Yun dance troupe that we all see a million commercials for several times a year:

You really need to work at expressing yourself more clearly. Are you saying "bigger thinkers" steal lawn signs? And embrace authoritarianism? Want to see a monarchy run by the Men Behind the Curtain?
You are not making much sense.
That's sad and ridiculous. Employees should not be treated like criminals on a chain gang. If there's more work to be done, the company should hire more workers
Dems steal lawn signs too...
lol, and as Vance says about rape victims who want abortions, "two wrongs don't make a right".
Out of touch with what? Am I supposed to embrace authoritarianism, and lowering taxes on the superrich? Let Trumpy become our king for as long as he lives, letting Musk and Thiel pull his strings till then
So could you click on the video and see it without going to YouTube?
And IHub's now VERY slow. When I clicked on the Message List to go to your post, it took more than 10 seconds to load.
I beg your pardon? I am judging morons who steal 64 lawn signs. I hope the next person to judge them will be an actual judge.
And didn't you once tell me your father was a business executive?
There were no student loans when I went to college. I went to a private college. But anyone who lived in-state could have gone to Indiana University, where tuition, room, and board cost $500. It wasn't hard for kids to pay their own way.
And when did that begin to change? When Ronald Reagan was elected to the presidency.
LOLOL!! I can look at YouTube videos AT YouTube. It's only here at IHub that I'm told I have to sign in or go watch the video at YouTube.
And I LOVE watching Teddy Bear the talking porcupine and stuff like that. Volume up!
I don't believe he thinks logically. It seems he's always been used to getting what he wants. So he doesn't expect much opposition to anything he does or says.
The lawn sign thieves are not essential workers of any kind.
And I don't have any extreme views. I'm a liberal. I've always been a liberal. Since 1964. When Goldwater ran.
Oh Jesus. He'd just love to do that.
Don't miss this. The people you champion:
A maga family night out stealing 60 Harris/Walz signs in Nixa and Springfield, Missouri.

Shoutout to @Apple AirTag! Maga sure loves being felonious.

Oh, that would be VERY good!!
Why would anyone do that stupid shit?
Because they ARE stupid shits.
That would be nice. And depending on what Mom and Dad do for a living, they could have some problems, too.
Ahhh, that is excellent! I love Four Seasons!
That is very satisfying. The MAGATs weren't so brave once the police were on the way.
LOLOLOL!!
You're welcome!
LOLOL!!
"Who was Alaric?"
Yes, you're right. I don't think that's possible anymore. At least not from the Message List. But you could do it from any post on the board. Just type a new number into the Post# box to the right.
Deleting cookies makes me nervous. And as I said, I don't have any YouTube account to sign into.
Yes. That is justice.
The same people who thought Garland was qualified for a seat on the Supreme Court now think he isn’t qualified to head the DOJ.
They're very different positions. He'd been a judge for a long time, and, in my view, should have stayed on the DC Circuit. I think trying to return to prosecution was a difficult transition for him.
