U.S. Stocks Head for Higher Open After Tuesday's Drop; Disney Results Beat Expectations
http://biz.yahoo.com/ap/080206/wall_street.html
SPY and QQQQ up in early premarket
I'm thinking you may have grabbed it right at bottom, nice upgrade today plus it turned a small gain on a horrid day for the markets
I'm thinking you are golden with it.
BE shaping up nice, IMO it isn't done yet, should push 2.75 - 3.00 rather easily and do it in the short term.
link back for chart
I'm thinking if it breaks that 41.50 support area may be game on for a nice drop.
I like it, it started to drop on a day when markets were running decent, be careful as it's getting close to a support area
BBY may be another good one, I've not followed it much and would check news before pulling the trigger
AIV had green days when the market ran and red ones when it fell, It will most likely roll with the tide, green day buy long, red day short it IMO
ah come on, I swam against the tide today and gained some green, may not have been much but considering how the markets were I was happy to get to the closing bell without any loss
Key stocks to make sure to watch tomorrow
BE
AIRN
ACTU
DISK
NYNY
ZRAN
It's hard to judge anything after a day like today. About the only thing I look at after a big down day is those that had gains. If they have enough strength to make a little gain on a day when the markets tank they usually run well when it all turns around
Way to go, glad that it worked well for you, I would've grabbed some but I usually only play a couple at a time and had my funds committed.
3% is always a nice number just have to remember a little plus a little a whole bunch of times equals a whole, great big bunch and that is what we are looking for
BE hit HOD of 2.52, got it into the low end of where I expected it to run to, let's see what she does from here, still looking very strong, wish I would've held but hey profit is profit, especially when the Dow is down over 300 points!
BE hit 2.45
Dow close to pushing low of day Down 318.9 points
Low of day was 12310.41
another pincher I'm liking that is green today as well is ZRAN

I've been watching DISK, it has been impressive, also been watching IDMI but couldn't talk myself into buying into it, one impressive move upwards though no doubt about it
everything's taking a beating today, just ugly all around
I do like ACTU though and snagged some, I think it should do well
ACTU Chart
Raised today from market perform to buy by JMP
CO is buying back shares
financials exceeded analysts expectations
Green on a big down day
And it's a pincher
grabbed some ACTU at 4.65
I looked a bit beyond the chart here, was just raised to buy from market perform by JMP, company buying shares back, financials increased and chart is pinching
Should do well IMO
IDTI chart
ACTU chart
Nice pinch with a bit of green today, looks to be coming off bottom nice, worth watching IMO
ZRAN chart
another nice looking set up with some green today
RFMD Chart
Not shaping up too bad here, looks like volume today will beat yesterday's, got some gains on a down day is another good indicator. Added it to my watch list
ARRY just punched HOD at 7.08
I've got some good recommendations on candlesticks as well, I'll get them to you this evening when I get home and get in my computer there
I'm liking both of them, just wish I would've dumped my BE this morning and bought back on the dip. Thats what happens when you take a stance that you are going to hold something a little longer. Would've been over a 10% gain for me from yesterday, oh well, I think it is still good for it
ARRY looking real good
BE climbing back up as well and I'm liking AIRN and NYNY here
SVN also had a nice spike this morning
have you spent much time learning to read candlesticks, IMO they are almost as important as some of the indicators. I've got a couple good places on them as well but I'm at the wrong computer right now to pull them up
A couple places to check that have a wealth of information and may help you out
Of course Stockcharts.com has a wealth of information in their chart school area
Technical Analysts board, lots of good stuff in the iBox and it is in plain english and easy to understand
http://investorshub.advfn.com/boards/board.asp?board_id=7882
Charts are Cool has some good links in their iBox as well
http://investorshub.advfn.com/boards/board.asp?board_id=8765
This is my short answer for places to start. I'm a bit pressed on time this morning so when I get a chance I will dig some more as I've been wanting to compile a good list for the iBox here but just haven't gotten to it yet. I'm also sure I have more places saved in a couple different places, I just have so much saved it will take me some time to find it.
U.S. Stocks Head for Lower Open Before Service Sector Report; Stocks Decline Overseas

SPY down in premarket so far as well, may be a rocky morning
list of those releasing earnings today

SVN news out yesterday
I made some nice flips on this one a couple weeks back and looks to be trading up in pre market
Sun-Times Media Puts 'Any Or All' Assets Up For Sale
.
CHICAGO Sun-Times Media Group Inc. (SVN), parent of the Chicago Sun-Times, put the city's second-largest daily and "any or all" of the company's assets up for sale Monday amid a crippling decline in advertising and revenue at its newspapers.
The company said its board of directors also is looking at other strategic alternatives to increase shareholder value, including joint ventures or strategic partnerships.
But a sale has been, and remains, widely expected. Key shareholders in the struggling company, which also owns dozens of smaller Chicago-area papers, have been pushing for its sale to boost a badly lagging stock price caused by the industrywide loss of readers and advertisers to the Internet.
To strengthen its attractiveness to prospective buyers, Sun-Times Media has been slashing costs for the past two months in order to lower annual operating costs by $50 million.
Chief Executive Cyrus Freidheim touted the company's "solid portfolio" of publications and Web sites, which he said deliver high-quality journalism and great value to advertisers.
"The steps that we've taken in the past year are designed to make sure that this is true today and will continue into the future," he said in a statement. "Our board's decision to explore strategic next steps now is the right thing to do to ensure the future of the Sun-Times Media Group publications and Web sites and to generate the highest value for our shareholders."
The company said the board has established a committee of directors Gordon Paris, Graham Savage and Raymond Seitz to oversee the strategic process, with Seitz serving as the panel's chairman.
Boston-based K Capital Management, the company's largest shareholder with a nearly 10% stake and the most vocal advocate of a sale, applauded the announcement.
"Sun-Times owns very attractive community newspapers but is too small to operate as an independent public company," said Chief Investment Officer Abner Kurtin in an email. "The assets have more value to a buyer then they do as an independent company."
Shares in Sun-Times have lost 80% of their value since reaching their 52-week high of $6.94 last April. The stock fell 2 cents to $1.38 in Monday trading before the company's announcement. Shares rose to $1.60 in after-hours trading Monday.
I don't have a set pattern to my trading. I try to roll with what the market is doing and adjust my strategy to the play at hand. My favorites are pinchers, bottom plays, and any play that moves well off breaking news as long as it isn't a BB or Pinky. The only rule I stand fast to is avoiding BB and Pinks
When I took over the board it had its current name and I haven't changed it yet. I've thought about it as we have been doing so many different types of plays here but figured I would give it some time and see how it develops.
Thanks for the post and kind words and drop by anytime.
I don't think hard time would fix them. However I wouldn't be opposed to taking off a finger or two for the first offense and a hand for a second offense. By the time they get caught three times the problem should be nearly solved.
CHC chart
ATML chart
AIRN Chart
Nice list you got there
I've had a couple of them on watch and will be adding the others for tomorrow.
Couple I've also been watching closely that I'm really liking
BE
AIRN
AIRN annotated
I annotated this chart back on 1/31, I was going to redo it for repost tonight but it has continued so well there isn't much I could add to it. Note how +DI and -DI on ADX are setting up for a crossover, WM%R has come up from 50, Trix has continued above zero and Full STO has broke 50. Other thing I really like is the increasing volume and any gains tomorrow should cause the bullish crossover of the MA5 breaking above the MA20
BE annotated chart
I'm in it so I'm a little biased but it's looking good IMO
BE annotated chart
I am holding a nice chunk of BE so I'm a bit biased on it right now, however IMO it is just getting going here and should do well this week
looks like BE may have found the bottom of its dip and may make EOD push
