Has anyone tried to sell any of their sheres and if so, at what price?
iTrade alos shows the last price at .01 with one million shares traded.
It'll be interesting to see if Paulson still holds those 3m shares.
RS did not ask any questions.
Lots of discussion about CAFC.
I wonder though what is the likely impact of a positive/negative outcome on:
1. Short term share price
2. Likelihood of buyout
3. Buyout price.
People who complain about the delays in getting a CAFC decision, the SA result or the European situation are wasting their time and energy.
All these issues will be resolved in their own good time. There is nothing we can do about any of these matters.
The othing we can do is buy, sell or hold.
Yet it did in spite of what we might think.
The March calls rose along with the share price.

Announcement of a sale before tomorrow's opening would not be a total surprise.

Wishful thinking!!
Closed at the high for the day at $44.48
Let's hope this portends an early announcement.
If it comes by Friday at $110 or higher I make a million $! If it comes later only half a million. Oh well, I'll take it.
Vodafone best-placed to profit from M2M - analyst
By Mary Lennighan, Total Telecom
Wednesday 18 January 2012
Deutsche Telekom edges out global rivals to take second place in Machina Research's new M2M benchmarking study.
Vodafone is the mobile operator in the best position to take advantage of the global machine-to-machine (M2M) communications opportunity, according to new research published on Wednesday.
The U.K.-based mobile operator came out top in a new benchmarking study from M2M specialist Machina Research, followed by Deutsche Telekom, which did battle with a number of big global names to take the hotly-contested second place.
"[Vodafone's] global scale gives it a substantial competitive differentiator," said Matt Hatton, director at Machina Research and author of the report.
However, Hatton explained that having a large footprint is not the only reason for Vodafone's number one position. Machina Research ranked operators across six different categories in order to determine their likelihood of future success: pedigree, platform, place, partnerships, process and people.
"The place category is not considered any more important than any of the others," Hatton told Total Telecom. "Having a good geographical coverage is no use if you’re making a mess of the rest of your M2M operations."
Indeed, he noted that Vodafone scores well in the 'partner' category thanks to its long-established network of partner markets, including Verizon Wireless in the U.S. "It has done a strong job across all the other categories too," he added.
The race for second place was less clear cut, with Deutsche Telekom edging it ahead of AT&T, Orange, Telenor and Verizon.
Hatton believes Deutsche Telekom's position may come as a surprise to some people. "They haven't exactly been one of the big guns of M2M up until now," he said. "However, they are geared up to do well: They have done some great work with their partnership strategy; they have a natural advantage in the M2M world with an in-house systems integrator in T-Systems; they’re focusing a lot of attention on building up M2M capability; and their geographical coverage is good thanks to last year’s alliance with Orange, and their U.S. presence."
Indeed, Hatton was keen to point out that the study is designed to be forward-looking, rather than a ranking of operators based on their current M2M successes. As previously announced, Machina Research predicts that there will be 12 billion M2M connections worldwide by 2020, generating revenues of €714 billion.
Options expire Friday, not tomorrow.

Our CEO was neither.
Samsung may still be intersted in licencing RIMM patents.
I can see RIMM licencing rather than selling. Makes sense to me.
BNN reports an analyst as saying the buyout of RIM by Samsung has a 40% chance of happening, but RIM licencing Samsung its patents has a 90% chance of happening.

The last (and only trade in a year or so) for $10 appears sufficient to establish a price. Since no trades have taken place since, the last price is the quoted price.
As I said earlier, someone wanted his account to demonstrate his net worth. Perhaps he needs to take it to the bank to get a line of credit or a mortgage or something.
Very clever!

My previous post was aimed at Romulus and not you. He had suggested that no one was interested in buying IDCC and no investment houses were recommending it. I should have made that clear.
I agree with you although you may be a bit overoptimistic on the price.
dnd
Just curious. What can they say if the process continues other than "the process continues"?
Hmmm, let's see.
Paulson bought 3 million shares. Insitutions hold 62% of shares.
I wonder what they know that you and Rom don't.
Maybe you're better informed, but I highly doubt it.
ps Dougherty has a buy on the company.
Rom - your attempts to keep the sp down is greatly appreciated. Keeps option prices more reasonable.
Keep up the good work, although I doubt if you're having any effect at all. Who would listen to you?
After listening to the oral arguments I just hope the court can call upon a couple of MIT engineering/communications profs to clarify matters for them.
I'm an EE who took some comm. courses many years ago but I'd rather have this explained in a classroom with diagrams on the board than simply in a courtroom by lawyers or even engineering profs using only verbal explanations.

Why do they need to say something before earnings come out?
And if they are still in negotiations they'll simply say "the SA process continues" as they said last quarter.
Apple Loses Ruling in Patent Case
By Susan Decker - Jan 13, 2012 5:29 PM ET
Apple Inc. (AAPL) lost a ruling in a case where it accused phonemaker Motorola Mobility Holdings Inc. (MMI) of patent infringement, a setback for efforts to prove that devices running Google Inc.’s Android operating system copy the iPhone.

Does this mean Apple now needs us more?
You can buy 1 share at $1 and really light up your account. Only costs around $11 including commission (for me). Might impress the bank if you need to show your net worth!!!
Did you see the volume?
100 shares. Probably a joke.
All we know is that it continues.
Jaxx - I use iTrade.
There were zero Jan. 13, 120 calls traded today. Open interest is 1084.

CES Report from Total Telecom
CES: device launches so far
By Nick Wood, Total Telecom
Tuesday 10 January 2012
The annual gadget get-together has only just begun but plenty of announcements have already been made.
The 2012 Consumer Electronics Show is taking place in Las Vegas this week and although the exhibition floor opens its doors for the first time on Tuesday, a number of the industry's biggest players have already made significant announcements.
Verizon Wireless
The U.S. mobile operator plumped up its LTE portfolio with a string of new devices, including smartphones in the form of the LG Spectrum and three new Motorola handsets; it also announced plans to sell the 3G-only BlackBerry Curve 9370.
Verizon also showed off Samsung's new Galaxy Tab 7.7, powered by a dual-core 1.4-GHz processor, and two LTE-capable mobile WiFi hotspots. Called the Verizon Jetpack, one of the hotspots on offer has been developed by MiFi maker Novatel Wireless, while the other is supplied by China's ZTE.
AT&T
Not to be outdone, Verizon's biggest rival revealed it is adding no fewer than five Android-powered LTE smartphones, and a sub-$300 tablet.
The high-end Samsung Galaxy Note attempts to span the smartphone and tablet category with a 5.3-inch screen. It also comes with a stylus that is designed to be accurate enough to enable users to compose text messages and emails by hand. AT&T will also sell an updated version of Samsung's Galaxy S2, as well as the Samsung Exhilarate, which is made from 80% recycled materials.
Two low-cost LTE devices developed by Korea-based Pantech, a smartphone and a tablet, have also been announced. For a limited time AT&T is giving customers the opportunity to buy both on a two-year contract for $249.99.
Furthermore, AT&T announced it will be the first to sell Sony's first own-branded handset, and its first ever LTE smartphone, the Xperia ion. The operator has also struck an exclusivity deal with HTC to offer the Taiwanese smartphone maker's first LTE Windows Phone, the Titan II.
Sprint
In the build-up to launching its own LTE network, Sprint also showcased a line-up of LTE devices, including the Android-powered LG Viper and Samsung Galaxy Nexus smartphones. In addition, the company announced it will offer a Sierra Wireless-made LTE-enabled mobile WiFi hotspot, called the Tri-Network Hotspot.
Nokia
Nokia signalled its first meaningful intention to claw its way back into the U.S. smartphone market with the launch of the LTE-capable Lumia 900, which will also go on sale through AT&T.
Samsung
As well as unveiling a raft of new handsets and tablets, Samsung took the wraps off a new line of its Google-powered Smart TVs, which as well as being used to surf the Web and download apps can also be controlled via voice recognition. An expansion slot in the back of the TV can incorporate upgraded hardware, meaning customers don't need to buy a new set every time features and services evolve to become more complex and demanding.
RIM
The BlackBerry maker showed off its PlayBook OS 2.0, which among other things enables owners to use their BlackBerry smartphone as a keyboard and remote control for their tablet. RIM also updated its smartphone platform to BlackBerry 7.1, which enables people to share multimedia content via NFC, and turn their device into a mobile WiFi hotspot.
Huawei
The Chinese vendor well and truly announced its arrival at the high-end of the U.S. smartphone market, with what it claims is the world's slimmest smartphone, the Android Ice Cream Sandwich-powered, dual-core processor-touting Ascend P1 S, which features a 4.3-inch screen contained in a 6.68mm-wide case. It will go on sale in various markets from April, and is due to arrive in the U.K. in early Q3.
