it has been a decent last few years......if someone is trading, and I feel all investing is trading and visa versa, well the rate of return is dependent on both the entry point and exit point as well as the period of time in between.....
if multiple trades happen over a longer time period, the overall rate of return is the product (I use that word because they are in fact multiplied against one another) of all the various rates of return or all the different entries, exits and periods of time between...
I think it most definitely matters if that happens sooner or later. Our rate of return would be better if it were sooner than later.
Rate of return is everything.....if it takes 100 years to get to $40, i would be disappointed with that result, clones for spare parts are not cheap you know, if it takes 5 mins of trading tomorrow morning, that would be nice
been there, done that....well living in an RV by the beach in California anyways....but it is a pain in the butt, cops keeping pushing you along....in many parts of California it is illegal to sleep outside or in your automobile....the key is to park out in places no one would expect - not the park and ride
was at Coronado beach for a while before they caught on....we would burn wood pallets right there on the beach, big fires, easy to score buds...spend the days in Tijuana - those were the days!! I had my wife smuggle some stuff up from Tijuana, and we are waiting in line to get to border patrol USA, and I say to her "If I don't see you again, I want you to know I love you' just as we are about to be inspected, she was so scared, that was fun
illegal to sleep, man I remember getting all worked up about that, I mean I wasn't some bum on a park bench, I was in a van at a park and ride - them phuckers!
well I just want to bring some major seriousness to a ridiculous situation.....for the irony
I am really starting to get into this idea, I would need a space for a lab, studio and office...but it wouldn't be much
lately there was this industry consultant report from some independent engineering consultants that dismantled the Tesla Model 3 and did a serious industry report on the subject.....i am thinking of something that is a mockery of that sort of thing
they did a video on it, and sold reports to the competition....I would need to wait until legalization...i like waiting...
if I define what it is I want to do narrowly enough, i am probably the most qualified person on the planet
it would be worth it just to have a decent response when people ask - what do you do? I am an independent cannabis quality control analysis technician
i just love the ridiculousness of the idea, like I would want to put on a suit and have a briefcase and pretend its like an important profession or something - no, a lab coat, gloves and safety glasses - like a doctor or something....
If one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life which he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours.
so maybe I buy a dope computer and get a little office somewhere....set up a youtube channel, seek out sponsorship or something....Tweed Taste Testing, lol - i could write ridiculous industry reports or something - that might work
i would like to stand watch at an internet cafe or gamer place, where they have all the dope computers and VR and stuff - i often thought of just doing that for a business....but the other day I am walking in the town and I saw a place like that, maybe I ought to go in there and say 'what's up'
as I keep thinking about the perfect solution - it should be a job where I don't really need to do anything but just be there, and I would want to use the internet - maybe a security guard - something where all that is required is my physical presence and maybe a minimal amount of judgement....
lifeguard is good, but I don't want to deal with other people's children or have real responsibility....ultimately I want to be part of a Tweed taste testing and quality control team....I could roll joints and smoke them and then lazily describe what I think while looking for random schit on the internet....I would be really good at that
thankfully I don't have a major pressing financial reason to do any of this, so today I think I am going to chill
i am going to get a job, i want a job I can work while my girls are in daycare....where I will be left alone and people will just shut up...that would be nice, no one throwing a temper tantrum. I do want peace...I don't know - it is all a joke you know?
bottom line - they don't want people puffing on joints walking down sidewalks or in parks..... so they are going to pick up some people and put them through the ringer and they will come out the other side a changed person....they will agree and pledge not to use cannabis at all while they await a trial that will be dismissed at it's outset....they will thank the system for that opportunity to change their ways...
in a hundred different ways, all across the country, the system will divide and conquer....they took out the Emeries without a trial, Jodie and Marc voluntarily agreed to stop the nonsense....how brave they turn out to be, with their for-profit civil disobedience - but instead of banging out a hunger strike from prison they instead bow down to their masters and abandon their movement.
They said they would never stop, they would go to jail and fight the system, but when they experience the discomfort.... when they get just a tiny taste of what true activists have endured, they fold....Gandhi and Mandela would not be impressed - given perfect opportunities to be martyrs and they just fold up like cowards
an investment in cannabis is a wager on the cowardice of the cannabis movement - had they a little solidarity and some balls this corporation wouldn't be worth schit
this is a perfect example of the law being used to influence people and their actions.....I doubt very much that anyone will actually spend three months in jail for smoking a joint anywhere, unless maybe they are itinerant and uncooperative ....but what will happen is you can be put in handcuffs and spend a night sleeping on plastic mattress on top of cold concrete in a small cell with some weirdo you don't even know taking a schit right in front of your 'bed'
the system can deal out massive punishment without ever prosecuting...this is a way to adjust the undesirables, it is super cost effective...they seem to go out of their way to make the entire process as uncomfortable as possible - I am sure the blankets they use, they need to pay extra get make them that schitty, there has got to be a shitty blanket factory out there somewhere that knows the true value of their blankets depends on how uncomfortable they are....they are masters at changing peoples perspective on their situations....
thin steel benches so close to the wall. But it was all right, everything was all right, the struggle was finished. He loved Big Brother.
there are over 20,000 MMAR growers, I am sure most of them are just using this opportunity for however long it lasts, and the really smart ones are investing in the system that will obviously replace them....
i think the vast majority of them don't care one way or another, they are making hay while the sun shines, burying the cash, maybe even investing it right here
if the world was all fair, nice level playing field, there would be no way to exploit people, where is the fun in that....what is life, without occasionally getting a one up on your neighbor?
its happening, here in Canada children all get what amounts to a basic income....for two kids it amounts to $1000 a month, paid to the parents to take care of them....I consider that a basic income of sorts, call it what you will
if two parents have 1 child - that is like $500, that is the equivilent 50 grams of legal, grade A cannabis every month - about a joint per day per parent per child - Canada knows exactly what it is doing!
for real - when my wife was first a patient at Tweed, when she was on a waiting list to make an order.....before I ever considered investing in anything.....it was the MMAR growers that convinced me that they were a diffuse group of self interested opportunists trying to perpetuate a system of haves and have nots.....
they did not sue the government to free cannabis for everyone, or to bring back the MMAR - they sued to keep the licenses they already had
thankfully for me, at the time the MMAR was finished, and the MMPR was the new deal...I realized the next scam was the one to jump on, the rest is history
stainless steel is a scam and so are corporations, and I am getting real sick of it all! When two or more people get together to do business, how is that fair to individual people - trick question - it is not fair.
Once you have division of labor and individuals specializing in one part of a large complicated process - it all becomes too damn efficient - too much progress - it gets to the point that its hard for an individial to make a decent living while staying at home being a lazy sack of schit - how is that good for anyone????
in a perfect world, no corporations, no jobs, no government, lots of cannabis, and lots of people to buy my cannabis - and the money I get from selling cannabis I will buy all my schit at walmart and it all makes sense, get with the program people
fack
oh, I know - but right now I am trying to convince investors in Gillette that they are just involved in a big shaving scam, people ought to be forging their own straight razors and making their own soap with wood ash and bacon grease......Im gonna set up shop on the internet, straight mail order, just send me some interact and I will hook you up with the real schit - no chemicals or nothin'
those online dispensaries are a scam though - they should free the weed, instead these guys just want to take your money for a plant! Everybody should grow their own cannabis, weave their own fabric, bake their own bread - I am sick of all the scams!!!!
fack
everything is a scam - when Canadian consumers are forced to buy a simple plant from the government store, who buys it exclusively from corporations they license for that purpose.....the government takes away your right to life and sells it back and tells us it is for the common good - of course it is a complete scam!
democracy is a scam! It has got to be, I am surrounded by complete idiots that just accept this as the way it has got to be, surrounded by fools that pay to get bent over and screwed without Foria - adults who literally pay people to give them rules to follow - FACK!!!!!!
but we here are not getting scammed, we are the ones doing the scamming!
brokerages must love that! Go long and short at the same time, cover all the bases - that is SICK! Winning!
Its like the Superbowl, I always put money on the AFC champions, but to cover my bets I also bet on the NFC champions - bookie gives me back 90% of my money everytime, never complains - he must not realize I have a system, shouldn't even be writing this, can't last forever
i am just saying - Canopy Growth Corp is worth more now than it was on January 2nd, even though you can buy it now for less money - there is definitely more shareholder equity, more book value per share...
as for describing the opinions of investors, I don't think you can accurately describe a large diverse group of independent actors like that.... Like Jan. 2nd for instance - obviously around that time there were a lot of people buying up the stock - it went from $30.69 up to over $40 shortly thereafter....so you could say a lot of people had high expectations....
but that morning I sold $175,000 worth of stock at $30.69 - I did not have high expectations on that day, I decided that morning that what I had was worth more than any potential upside...I thought the market was wrong
I dont appreciate being lumped in with everyone else - about the only thing you can say about investors, is that they are investors
I love the names - eagles nest and the slick blue line - you made me laugh
lot of crazy volatility these last 4 months - started the year at $30.69 and it has gone down since then
during that time - they raised money at $34 a share, they got BC Tweed up and running, patents, supply agreements, Alicaliber is running, we are now 4 months closer to legalization.....
Now I don't know if it was over valued on January 2nd at the start of trading, but I do know for a fact - it is a much better value today on the market than it was then
the one good thing about Mars is that it would be probably easier to grow cannabis there than anywhere else in the solar system besides Earth. They have a very thin carbon dioxide atmosphere - so all you really need is a greenhouse that can hold 1 atmosphere of pressure....maybe some additional lighting - lots of solar panels...
but you know, at the same time - the drawbacks of it's gravity well probably don't make up for the fact they got some easy carbon dioxide....They don't have greenhouses on mars...you would have to transport it there and burn fuel to slow it down to land.....
like if you already have the cannabis habitation module built and orbiting Earth - well it should be much easier to send some gas to it, then to send it to some gas....
I think in the end Mars is just a really good goal to have - his goal is to build the technology that would make building a colony on Mars possible and affordable - I am of the opinion that if we had that technology - there are just way better things to do with it - the moon, NEO and the asteroid belt
growing cannabis inside air conditioned buildings with artificial lights, putting these plants on air planes and flying them across continents so somebody can smoke it, in order to get a few milligrams of cannabanoids into their lungs- incredibly inefficient - beautifully ineffecient
bottom line - looking at the situation from a physics perspective - matter = energy. All the energy at our disposal comes directly or indirectly from hydrogen fusing into helium at the center of our sun.
if we value diversity of life and new experiences and space to live (or cannabis), then we will end up building habitations that orbit the sun separately from earth, in order to capture that much more energy for life.
If you are going to have habitations that absorb the energy emitted from the sun, well the absolutely least mass efficient way to d, o that is with a sphere....you cannot possibly conceive of any shape that gives you less surface area for a given amount of mass - another way to define a sphere is the minimum amount of surface area per unit of volume....
we are going to end up building pairs of cylinders, rotating counter to one another to negate precession - this will provide us gravity, millions of times more space to live on for a given amount of mass, more energy - more life, more cannabis
when you get right down to it, the earth is just not the ideal shape and size to support life in our solar system, but it is a good start
I really like Elon Musk and SpaceX - but the idea of colonizing and terraforming Mars is weak - he should be going for asteroid mining and space manufacturing
I will also stipulate that there are only two likely scenario's for the future of humanity - extinction or completely colonizing the solar system and embarking on interstellar colonization.....
we will either rise or fall, and I think it is far more likely we will rise up - first we got to legalize cannabis, obviously
as long as cannabis survives, it will be alright
the few people that visited the moon came back and said that was beautiful too. I like mountains myself...when it comes to the ocean I think what's under the surface is a lot better than floating on top - I like corral reefs.
I think the environment should be valued only if you value diversity of life - but it isn't necessary to the survival of humanity. Think of the international space station - in the harshest environment imaginable, using nothing but solar panels they created a decent life support system. Canopy Growth Corp capital is tied up in building support systems for cannabis growth....
science fiction is filled with the concept of this earth dying and humanity needing to take to the stars in search of another planet to live on is just nonsense.
think of the movie interstellar - the earth is dying, so their plan is to make a habitat on earth and lift it into space with some sort of super science from a black hole - but if the habitat is good and sealed from the vacuum of space, then why would we need to get it into space? certainly not because of earth's air or some bug messing with the plants - wouldn't effect the habitat
well there are two good reasons - one - it would create more space for life in the solar system - and potentially we could use more of the sun's energy. In that movie they built an O'Neil cylinder - and that will be the future of humanity, because it just makes sense - if Earth is good, and more is better, than we will do it
that is classic! George Carlin is a next level genius, although I doubt anyone will be laughing if the chemical composition of our oceans becomes toxic to phytoplankton.... it is weird that google doesn't recognize that as a correctly spelled word 'phytoplankton' - without them we would suffocate and die.
if life is good, if diversity has value, and if humanity continues to progress in technology and capacity - then it is inevitable - not to have just one earth's surface area (500 million km sq) but instead to have orders of magnitude more, not 500 million, but 500 trillion km sq.
and that is with steel - if we are talking graphene, well - the numbers start to lose meaning
this will take nothing but brute force and time, all the technology necessary is available to us today - the ISS you can think of as one of the very first extra Earth habitations
more will follow, or life will be stuck here on earth, and that would be sa
it is inevitable
there is more material accessible in just one decent size asteroid than there is on the entire earth, combined with a super shallow gravity well. Earth is a thin crust - the vast majority of the mass is effectively inaccessible
a sphere has the smallest surface area for any given volume of mass - by definition, you cannot take some mass and arrange it in a less efficient way to collect energy from the sun - planets are weak, bro
goldman sachs just wrote a report saying the first trillionaire will be someone that pulls off asteroid mining....probably Elon, Mars is bunk too, but we got to colonize it before we dismantle it I am sure.
in less than 200 years the majority of humanity will be living off earth, that is not to say that there will be less people on earth than there is now, just that the population of people off earth will be larger - it is practically inevitable.....
from a first principles physics perspective it is the only thing that makes sense....eventually humanity will begin the process of dismantling earth to provide orders of magnitude more living space and energy for life here in this solar system
Canopy Growth Corp grows plants inside large steel buildings using electric lights with air conditioning, and the end result is people smoke it for recreation
it is too late for any of that, in my opinion, this earth will not be saved - its ecosystem is in the process of collapsing. Humanity has drastically altered the chemical composition of the atmosphere, the oceans and fresh waters, and the majority of the soil.
I think it would be a sad future indeed for humanity if we were forever trapped on this rock - it is just so inefficient - the earth receives only about 1/2,000,000,000 of the sun's energy output and the earth itself is a ridiculously inefficient use of mass - 99.999% of earth does nothing for us but provide gravity
roundup doesn't mean a damn thing - if there is any intrinsic value to life, we ought to be concerned about getting off earth
look up O'neil cylinders and dyson swarms - it is the logical progression of our species
roundup doesn't kill people, farmers do
honestly, it would be a major pain in the butt to keep weeds from sprouting out of gravel at campgrounds with out it - and campers pay extra for having their nature nice and tidy
Smoke Tweed everyday!
this board is about Canopy Growth Corp, not the dow
homegrow for medical purposes is licensed by health canada - ACMPR personnal and designated growers, these gardens are still protected -
but yes, provinces can outlaw homegrow for recreational use....
still - if Quebec is allowed to quash rec grows, and they can limit the amount of extra-provincial cannabis that is imported into Quebec, and they are the sole purchaser of cannabis that enters Quebec - well you don't have to tax it, you can just make low bids.
Quebec's SAQ has full control over the situation.....if they want they can make the retail price of cannabis $30 a gram, recreation is legal, good luck buddy....make it $1,000 a gram....
when are people going to learn that all news is positive news for Canopy Growth Corp?
Comey wrote a book - positive news.
Trump went golfing this weekend - positive news.
The supreme court of Canada will allow provinces to control inter provincial trade through tax and restriction - positive news.
that is really, really good news though - there are some good hills in Utah - Canyonlands, Alta/snowbird, Park City - its the land of champagne powpow - so dry and fluffy, oh my god I need some pow under my feet!!! - all that is needed is buds
not to mention all the national parks - Utah is super dope, but they got stupid alcohol laws, something called 3 2 beer, I don't know, fack beer
who knows, maybe tomorrow will make that look chill
that is very interesting...my situation is weird, I stay at home and take care of the kids, and generally speaking in the last three years I made much more from trading that my wife made 'working'.
I did pretty good in my TFSA but I already had to empty it to take care of family shit, and it was just luck or whatever but I did way, way better with my RRSP....at this point i got a 29 banger in less than 3 years on that account - wait, that is not true - it was a 29 banger at the end of last month when the price was 33.66, but if it gets back there I will be at over 3000% ROI
alright, so just to get this straight - I have an RRSP right now, but my wife does not.....
and I want to open one up for her, and transfer assets from my RRSP to my wifes - that is okay?
is this what is referred to as a spousal RRSP?
