Again were dealing with expectations vs reality. I don't think my expectations are the same as yours. Last year I posted that if a settlement were to happen it should be in the 35-mil range. I posted a very detailed and honest view of the reasonableness regarding the US sales only amount owed. Most laughed and said I was a basher, doing it to drop the price, whatever. IMO these are the same people who have way too much of their money invested in just 1 stock.
Now I see were going the other way. Perhaps too many option players with the "greed". In the post you mentioned. Nokia IS bound by the Ericy agreement. Period. Nothing to add on this. The signed the agreement stating same in 99.
IDCC targeting Nok? The Ericy case starting over 10 years ago, the trial which was suppose to start in FEB was postponed because Ericy finally came to the table. Settlement was released in Mar. IDCC isn't paying any money. They won. And they got exactly what they should have got for US sales. Period. Ericy decided not to push a bad position.
I don't understand the spin here. IDCC won, they got IMO exactly what they should have got for US sales. The agreement between Nok and IDCC has already been signed. The Ericy agreement triggers the rates only. Regarding the SEC release that states this starts the negotiations of rates, if they DIDN'T do that they would have a whole lot of explaining to do.
If your basing this on why IDCC didn't get billions, as some stated, that was for overseas sales, and they never tried to get those.{ it WAS NEVER on the table} If they would have tried, we would not have gotten that resolved for a long, long time, if ever.
I can think of several reasons why it could go the arbitration, but Ericy setting up IDCC to go after Nok isn't one of them. Again they didn't settle to get to Nok. They won, Ericy caved and got what they should have
Class action?
The article stated they EXPECT, which they do, 360-420 by this time NEXT YEAR. Which would also be correct if everything goes they're way. btw{50 weeks to go} The writer had a story to tell, like the thousands of others that come out every year.
Good luck trying to sue the writer. There is no way you can go after the company. The only thing that counts is the SEC filings. And that’s covered by the disclaimer. The what ifs.
Arbitration should be over with in the year IF it comes to that. And again this is what the EXPECT.
Better to focus on what's going on than to get caught in the hype traps that are out there.
Filled in some of my long term "holds" with Nokia today. Think it's still a good long term play. We'll see how it looks by Christmas 2004. Between now and then it's just a simple hold.
Teecee,
Gee you just don't get it do you.
Regarding trading guru, I could care less. THIS IS NOT A TEAM SPORT!!! There is not side to join, only money to make, and nobody is doing it exactly the same way, hence no need for a guru. This isn't about cookie cutter investing.
At a minimum? I don't NEED to post anything. I post when I feel like it and when I'm not to busy and what ever I wish to. Questions?
People ask is this a good time to buy/sell. I tell them what I think. Regarding what I'm doing, well son. I'm absolutely convinced you couldn't follow it, even if it was spoon-fed to you. But that's just an opinion. However the 15 mil you missed by not managing the money you claim to have is a fact.
Don't worry about anybody mistaking you for a old one liner guru however. The big dogs are starting to run, let me help you. Your not one of them. Be nice and maybe somebody will throw you a bone.
Later
You know TEECEE, a lot of people seems to be thankful that I post my thoughts when this has been overvalued. They say things like, Hey thanks for saving me the money, or I'm glad somebody is watching out for us little guys. {direct quotes}, btw I'm a little guy.
Most would say I saved a lot of people a lot of money. Most are thankful. Most don't want to hear the bull about how this was going to go to 35 in June. Etc etc. I guess most don't treat their money as dreams. But you you're different. You think if somebody posts anything that says were not going to 35 over the next 10 min. it should be attacked and discredited. Small mind view IMO.
To simplify things , I will not post my sells only my buys on this board. That should keep you happy. We'll call it the teecee censorship rule. Only happy thoughts.
You have yourself a fine day now
Well now that explains a lot.eom.
HD,
Sometimes it's important to look something from several angles.
It all depends on what your looking for.
When you view several at the same times it's important to remember your looking at averages. Many things to factor here. A lot can be learned. Buy ,hold ,sell, trade, short, all will be looking at something different. And for good reason, after all it's all about the money.

Alley and Plum. Thanks for the understanding.
BTW TC ran the whole background of what I'm doing over on Yahoo where I have been posting for the last month.
Sorry you missed it.
Ah who am I kidding
Later
Spider, my apologies
Some one at work mentioned to me something about a big mouth without a clue trying to play big man again. By my own mistake, read your post with tracking the background.
Sorry
Should have known it wasn't you.
TEECEE, this may help, all were addressed to you.
6/23/2003 - Well TC filled in part of my trading shares this am. decent start -
6/24/2003 Well tc, BUYING some more this am - all under 22.50. You know a little here a little there, well it will add up.
6/24/2003 YOU wanted to know when I'm buying. Well there you go.As far as level, guess your best . Time to get back to the action
6/24/ IDCC dropped to 21.33 and closed at 22.02.
As far as how much I bought. My friends know. That should be good enough. It is for me.
No I told everybody. what I don't understand is why you care enough to mention it? same with also Tc - None of your business.
Thanks for seeing it my way
Rmarchma,Good background on the Matsushita contracts. Perhaps my wording of nuisance was a little unfair, I was blending my thoughts on what also was occurring in that time frame within the company and the need for revenue generation.
It's true, Matsushita got a very good deal. Whether it was for 1 reason or several, I don't know but they did get a good deal. Same with the 2001 contract, another decent deal, and that at the center of the recession. Perhaps they're just opportunists, considering the timing, but no matter, the deal been done.
Well you kind'a hit it on the end. Since 6/30 there really hasn't been a lot to talk about. A couple of big blocks then. Low vol since. The MM's did drop it a couple times to take out the stops. 50 cents could cover the bulk on trades during the last week. There really isn't a whole bunch going on.
Rmarchma,
Re Siemens,
I'm a little unclear on the previous work with Siemens in the late 90's and if that work with Siemens allowed us to secure the TDD development contract with Nokia.{ there is a reason that Nokia picked us for TDD development and Siemons also has a heavy TDD patent portfolio }However most of the development work that was done in the Nok/IDCC contract has to be for patents that would not be included in the paid up agreement between Siemens and IDCC. If this is true than Siemens will also have to license with IDCC for the TDD development patents done in the Nok/IDCC eng. phase. Also of interest is the contract with IFX which Siemens is the parent company. I think there is a stronger tie there than most give credit to.
RE: Matsushita, sorted at best in regards to pre 3g. I always felt a nuisance fee was paid to forget and IDCC was happy to take the 3G contract going forward. Could be wrong but that is my take.
No changes on those issues. I was using the most recent 8k as a point of ref only. The mistake was mine, I misread some of your IR notes. What you stated in your last post is my understanding as well.
Ronny, think they changed the wording during the cross license. See what you think. From the latest 8ka 7/2003

Ziploc, No I'm not much good at that. I'm sure IDCC is good to go, but there is no way of knowing what Nokia thoughts are. Were going to get paid for 2g. That's a given. Taking a step back. I guess some of it will depend on what type of working relationship they both wish to have going forward, there is a lot left to look at starting with a 3G contract and who knows perhaps some chip sales worked into the mix. One thing for sure, IDCC is starting to heat up.
The agreements have been reached, and have been in effect since 1/1/2002. However the rates have not been. Thats what they're working out. Everybody has there own time table on this. Mine is, if both parties agree, late Aug with perhaps a release in Sept. Nevertheless I repurchased last week, wanted to beat the rush. Still feel the markets are going to come down between now and then so it may not have been the best timing move.Fact is I closed my other positions which caused a lot of cash to start sitting. Used some here at prices that I can live with. Think Jimlur mentioned late July, who knows he may very well be right. Like Sept if I had to pick, barring arbit.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMERICA. Land of the free, home of the brave.
Matt, think you mentioned something about a week. Just curious, when is it up?
Well Matt that's been pretty close to a week. What'ca think.
Well I can't argue with that. There is also a pullback in the markets in general. We would have come down regardless.
bottom line fear over greed. But the bear market is over and this correction WAS needed both here and in the markets. Frankly I was counting on it but I am surprised at the speed of fall.
TC if, if this guy tice said anything I would imagine he saw what this was going to do and grabbed some instant credit on it. It was clear to see.
The fall isn't a mystery. It's how quick.
Oh and BTW were close to a overSOLD position on the rsi scale BUT BUT today greenspan speaks and all bets are off. The markets go crazy with this guy. Hoping he keeps it at 1/4. 1/2 and he has nowhere left to run.
Of course there is another theory. The rollerball theory. The fall started just as rollerball started to give his and his TA tech advice. It is possible that after reading many investors decided to sell based on his buy signal.
The would normally be called the "spree factor"
In rollerball land the share price is at 30 right now and will be rising all week.
I see were worried about shorts, tice whatever.
Look if you believe in TA or not every INT/ broker/fund has a bank of TA's and they believe in it.
We were at a over bought position.
The fall was clear to see starting on the 18th.
Since that time we have accelerated vol and with it falling prices.
The NAS and Dow are also falling.
Add to that the games played yesterday .
I will admit it's falling faster than one would expect.
Bottom line ,while the shorts maybe involved here the driver was people taken profits Not just here but market wide.

Alley,
The market adjusting agreed. Think some areas need to adjust a little more before healthy will be the norm. By the same token they came too far to fast, nowhere to go. Some areas are just starting to roll. If you didn't see it last week check the current NAHL, shows the blow off peak the fund managers were looking for.
Greenspan, Euro land, pre earning concerns and an extreme over bought condition IMO
Greenspan and the board have a very tough decision to make. Not so sure he has a good way to go.
IDCC, took only a quick look at the min charts. There is no question we all got played today. First by the big boys and then right after by the MM. They sure clean off those stops.
Anyway time for a little study time for the rest of the week.
Roller, explain your thought process again.
""all today was a net net trade to capture the option premiums. they will be buying ALL the shares back next week plus the exercised option stock. next week were off to the races""
""as far as ge jim goes, he knows damn well the risk of being out of idcc. i for one won't try to time it it is finally upon us. i have a suspicion he will be beack in tomorrow. to many shares to be bought next week. as typical as the past few days were so will next week be""
""whatever you say jim. how much you want to wager we have a nice move next week? don't play your pompous games with me. i guess you think you're smarter than you are to make a statement like that""
I"" i for one will be glad you will be buying higher. as far learning goes i'm always willing to learn more. there are no emotions involved in my decision making at all. unlike you who got luckey. you're a gambler and a trader. neither ever end up making money. that comes from more years of experience than you'll ever accumulate. as if you know it will be in the fall. the evidence is right in front of your face and you're too much of an egomaniac to see it''
''read his junk. ge jim if you could read what i said last night my bet wasn't that you would be in it was that idcc will run next week''
'' fact is everything you read here must be over your head if you can't figure out you need to be long''
'Post where made less than 1 week ago .Result another 4 dollar drop.
There was even more wisdom but those were deleted, no doubt because the wisdom was just to deep.
Remember JUST KEEP TELLING EVERYBODY HOW RIGHT YOU ARE Roller, it will distract them from all the money they lost from listening to you.
BTW you may wish to consider switching the TA guru you were bragging up. Seems the person is a little off in the old projection area.
window dressing from the markets, my investments expand beyond just this one.
Now THAT was fun ! But there is more Greenspan on wed. Last week of the qt. . .window dressing and next week the sell off from thew window dressing .
Later
Thw big boys are playing. and they got it going on !
YOU wanted to know when I'm buying. Well there you go.As far as level, guess your best . Time to get back to the action
Well tc, BUYING some more this am - all under 22.50. You know a little here a little there, well it will add up.
You need to ask your best buddy roller when his tech guru who told him it will skyrocket this week will sober up. Think he got a lot of "splainin" to do.
Sorry,
"i'm with you tc. i'll take ge and goblue"
I'm married, not into the gay thing, you guys go ahead.
Well TC filled in part of my trading shares this am. decent start -
You crack me up, Lets be clear for the last month my agenda has been to make money. For the last month this has been losing money. So I haven't been invested here. Been making money elsewhere, I know this confuses you but there are OTHER stocks that you can buy too. Questions.
If my ta is off the stock should be up,shouldn't it? Not down 4 dollars from the high! Oops kind blew that one didn't you. Think you got it a little backwards in your thought process.
Lets review, YOUR down 4 dollars from the high. I followed MY ta and I didn't take the fall. Well yeah that clearly shows you were right LOL!
Like I said keep telling everybody your right, it will cover up all the money you just lost!
That's a pretty good and uncommonly fair post. Nothing, nothing at all wrong with a buy and hold plan concerning this stock. You mention the worries, and for some it would not be worth it. For others the reward far exceeds the concern. You can make money a dozen different ways in the market, some by the day , some by the decade. As you say different strokes. . . . . . .
I'll be back in this stock long myself, when it makes sense to me to do so. In the mean time there have been many stocks over the last month that have done very well indeed and there is also nothing wrong with expanding ones wealth if an opportunity presents itself. After all that's the whole point of investing.
