PAL Financial Results
Revenue for the first quarter was $48.7 million compared to $47.1 million in the first quarter of 2013. The increase in revenue was primarily due to more favourable exchange rates partially offset by lower payable metals sales at lower realized prices for all metals except palladium. During the first quarter, the Company realized a palladium selling price of US$739 per ounce.
Net loss for the quarter was $26.7 million or $0.11 per share compared to a net loss of $2.8 million or $0.02 per share in the same quarter last year. The increase in the net loss is primarily due to the impact of increased foreign exchange losses, depreciation and interest expenses, partially offset by decreased exploration expenses.

I don't see anything positive about investing in PAL. The short mine life span and the location of the mine is a huge disadvantage. Costs are much too high in Canada. Palladium prices could drastically increase but PAL would still see little change in net earnings. The costs to operate a mine in Canada would out pace any increase in palladium prices.
I prefer to invest in stocks that have mining projects located in South Korea or any other country where the costs are cheap.

This message board should spend more time warning investors about Chinese scammers and the dangers of investing in China stocks.
They list their companies on the Nasdaq and do a lot more damage than any OTC penny stock CEO could ever do.
Investors have lost millions on OTC stocks but when it comes to Chinese Nasdaq scammers the cost to investors is many billions of dollars. The SEC should concentrate on investigating Chinese scammers.
US Officials: China Refuses to Help Stop Investment Scams
The Chinese government snubbed a U.S. request for help in cracking down on a string of alleged investment frauds that have cost Americans billions, outgoing Securities and Exchange Commission Chairman Mary Schapiro told ABC News.
The lack of cooperation has stymied efforts to recoup investor losses, she said, in one of the largest sprees of alleged financial crimes in recent memory -- one that has gone largely unnoticed by most Americans.

Just imagine how bad of shape the OTC market will be once this marijuana fad wears off. The scammers have become so spoiled with their dilution schemes/scams recently.
They will drop 2+ billion shares of dilution on a single OTC stock in one day and not think twice about it. They'll just start up another scam marijuana stock and repeat the dilution scheme all over again. It's about high time the SEC put an end to these OTC pink sheet dilution schemes/scams once and for all.
Palladium needs to average over $1,000 to make the company healthy and they also have to do something that they have not done before; execute the plan.
PAL needs a catalyst in order for the stock price to surge. I prefer swing trades that have a powerful upcoming catalyst.
Palladium needs to average over $1,000 to make the company healthy and they also have to do something that they have not done before; execute the plan.
Financial fancy footwork
My take is that the likelihood of PDL staying alive is much better now than a few months ago. The reason is that a fair number of debtors have converted and so total debt is reduced. The flipside is that there are now about 425 million shares (making some assumptions and we should be prepared that the number will climb to 500 million within a year ot two.
Palladium needs to average over $1,000 to make the company healthy and they also have to do something that they have not done before; execute the plan.
There is so much clever fancy financial footwork going on that it is hard for anyone to get a grip on the share and debt amounts.
Employees and debtors can relax now. The shareholders will be left with something, thanks to South Africa but it is too early to smile yet. One bad Quarter in the future would scare the market because of the long history of bad execution and one more scare would be sufficient to make additional raising of capital nearly impossible.
It is an odd story for sure. Fantastic producer to be in, a great jurisdiction and the worst of the worst management over the years.
I absolutely agree. There is absolutely no legitimate reason that publicly traded companies should be unregistered and non-SEC reporting. Those Pink Sheet non-reporters provide zero benefit to the economy, as they use the "voluntary filings" to deceive the public and enrich themselves by selling them worthless stock.
It is a deadweight drag on the economy and the public at large.
In regards to the new OTCQB minimum bid rule. Apparently the SEC never learns. They're only making the situation with OTC penny stock scams worse than it already is. Many of the scammers will start their company off with an illusion that it is a legit OTCBB penny stock. Then milk that out for everything it's worth. Scam the shareholders out of millions of dollars. Then allow their stock to be delisted to pink sheets and continue the scam from there. Why is the SEC incapable of cleaning this mess up once and for all?

it will simply not be an OTCQB stock, but will then trade as a pink sheet stock.
Yep, 4th R/S coming or Bankruptcy. There's no other option.
I agree with you but it appears that this recent Raymond James underperform rating and $0.30 target price has triggered a sell off.

Medical marijuana update:
Private Health Canada medical marijuana license holder Bedrocan Canada is going public, the second permitted company to do so after Tweed (TSX:V.TWD) entered the market April 4th.
Marijuana prices are crumbling
It appears that companies are falling over themselves trying to get into the business of growing marijuana. Furthermore, legalization of marijuana in several STATES and Uruguay has caused a major drop in marijuana prices.
Marijuana sold for around $12/gm in Uruguay before legalization...it now sells for about $1/gm.
BC BUD has dropped half of its value since Colorado legalized its marijuana industry.
Legalization will continue in the U.S. and around the world. In my opinion the professional growers will be a short term investment and will eventually fizzle out as everyone will be able to grow their own or buy it from associates.
Dispensaries in Canada are liquidating their stocks with the new regulations.
Raymond James Reiterates Underperform Rating on North American Palladium
Recommendation
We reiterate our Underperform rating on PDL, but lower our target price to $0.30 (from $0.50), as we highlight the extremely dilutive nature of the proposed convertible debt financing to the existing shareholders. Our negative view of the PDL equity is further reinforced by what we view as aggressive 2014 operating guidance, lack of clarity regarding near-term mine plan and capital requirements, and management’s own admission of the need to raise additional financing starting in 2015 beyond the currently proposed convertible debt offering.

Raymond James: Underperform rating and $0.30 target
According to Raymond James:
North American Palladium Ltd.
April 15, 2014
Revised LDI Mine Plan Highlights Limited Mine Life
Recommendation
We reiterate our Underperform rating and target price of $0.30 on PDL, as we highlight the extremely dilutive nature of the latest two convertible debt financings. Although PDL filed an updated LOM plan at LDI, it highlighted some of our key concerns for the company, such as limited mine life (without further material capital infusion and mine development), aggressive nature of the previously announced 2014 operating guidance, and (perhaps the most important of them all) the presence of prohibitively-high-cost Brookfield debt that hangs like the “Sword of Damocles” over the PDL shareholders.

WFEMF ~ Buffett, Terrorists & China Control This Metal
Tungsten is one of the few metals where demand is expected to outpace supply in the coming years, and there is a potential treasure trove of profits to be made by miners of the metal. The massive profit potential, unfortunately, has even attracted organized crime to get involved with tungsten mining. The day after Christmas, Bloomberg reported that Colombia's government was preparing to seize a tungsten mine run by the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC). According to Bloomberg, "tungsten mined for the profit of FARC makes its way into the supply lines of the makers of BMWs, Ferraris, Porsches and Volkswagens, computers and BIC pens." Bloomberg continued "Apple Inc. and Samsung (005930) Inc. have also bought material from that tainted supply line. The parts are used for iPhones, iPads, iPods and Galaxy mobile devices." What does that say about the tungsten industry when a criminal enterprise is illegally mining the metal and somehow getting the ill-gotten commodity into consumer products?
Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway Connection Warren Buffett is not a big commodity investor. He seeks revenue growth. In respect to gold, for example, Buffett sarcastically stated, "Gold gets dug out of the ground in Africa, or someplace. Then we melt it down, dig another hole, bury it again and pay people to stand around guarding it. It has no utility. Anyone watching from Mars would be scratching their head." Interestingly, it appears he feels quite differently about tungsten, a metal with enough practical demand to allow Mr. Buffett to see its investment worthiness. As recently as 2012, Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway, through its IMC International Metalworking unit, agreed to invest $80 million in one of the world's largest tungsten mines, located in South Korea. In respect to Berkshire Hathaway's investment, Forbes contributor Eric Savitz wrote, "While the deal may come as a surprise to the outside world, those with knowledge of tungsten understand that it's a crucial but disappearing resource that continues to affect all of us."
