I think there was a trading halt for sometime. Not sure, if it completely resumed or not...some stocks seem to be moving.
-vg_future
my3sons87, just to add to that. Review doesn't necessarily mean reversal of ALJ's decision. There might not be any change after the review and even if there is a change it could be slight modification and sometimes further supporting IDCC's side. Weren't we on the receiving side of this kind of review in the past with NOK and we had to finally go to CAFC for reversal?
It is not fair to keep thinking that there will be a review and if there is one it is going to be negative. This kind of negative and fear ridden thinking goes too far on this board many times.
Keep faith and patience.
JMHO,

Pathetic and maybe criminal manipulation of the stock on low volume. For once, I wish/hope, at least once IDCC's management deals a death blow to these manipulators and sends them home packing. Particularly on an option expiration day to make the blow more hurting and a lesson.
-vg_future
I remember the UK court case victory (against NOK) announcement on the day of expiration few years back. It would be fun if there is NEWS today/tomorrow.
-vg_future
gejebr3, minor correction....IMO, it is 425 to 430 million if you add Arima. So, the beat will be even better.
-vg_future
dndodd, thanks. Good to hear that. I hope the analysts come out with their target updates...the 75-80 million increase in the yearly revenues is too small to ignore. I think the 100 million additional buyback is showing the company's confidence in its future in a pretty bold way.
-vg_future
Probably already discussed/answered. Is the Arima settlement money on top of the 400 mill projection given out? Though it might sound hopeful, but I think it is in addition to the 400 mill number because they couldn't count (let alone use it in projections) unless the settlement has happened.
So, are we looking at 425/430 million projection now. I am expecting analysts to jump in with some upgrades and target hikes.
TIA,
vg_future
This was already posted and discussed over the weekend.
vg_future
Squingebob, I know. I was just clarifying it for others.
Pre-planned sale.
olddog967, thanks. I wouldn't expect anything different from BM unless he is ready to announce a new/modified deal. Though it is general estimation, why was it at 350 before this update....the market share or the projected potential didn't change, right? It might be just a change in the product cycles or performance models...something made them change it.
-vg_future
Could this be a 8K update of a license to account for the 50 million increase in the revenue estimates for this year?
Goodluck Longs!

THis should be good for IDCC....leak of iPhone5C on AppleStore (straight from the horse's mouth)

done...thanks for the link loop.
Surprising how all the "genuine" doubts about the victory come out during the option expiration week (with the weekly options now, probably this will happen every week ;-( ). Rehash of the old news..ofcourse new analysis and concerns. There might be some real doubts....but, typically the motivated folks tag along taking the discussion down the wrong rat hole.
I would let IDCC's management address the patent expiration issues and how it can be monetized within the context of new wins....jury and ITC.
Goodluck the real longs...only the true longs.
JMHO,

From the other board...price target maintained.

Thanks teecee for posting it.
-vg_future
Thanks for confirming dndodd.
-vg_future
Heard that briefing.com is reporting it as a beat of the estimates (guided above the estimates of 86 mill). So, that is what matters. I think we would see an up day tomorrow.
Good luck All!
Vg_future
Thanks Oldsog967. Worth mentioning is that IDCC lawyers agreed to the postponement on the 27th and most likely (from hearsay) after the ITC decision has come out. So, wouldn't it be reasonable to assume that the judge has considered IDCC's attorneys' agreement before ordering the continuance (not just based on the sealed briefings).
vg_future
loophole73, I totally agree. Excellent highway analogy....love it.
I think there is more to IDCC agreeing to the postponement from settlement angle/perspective.
Thanks.
-vg_future
Guys, please read the dates mentioned in the post properly....
snippet...
A trial set to begin on April 27 was continued that day at the stipulation of the parties. Letters to the court from Microsoft on April 25 and 27, unsealed Wednesday , show that Microsoft asked Judge Richard Andrews to let it seek judgment of non-infringement due to a "major development in the case."
So, this request from MSFT most probably came before IDCC agreed to the postponement...so, not a stealth move from MSFT after IDCC agreed for the postponement. Who knows why IDCC agreed for the postponement after the jury has been selected and ITC came out positive for IDCC.
-vg_future
For the nervous nellies, making something public doesn't necessarily reflect the strength and, in fact, it might be indication of weakness and a last ditch attempt to draw attention by posing.
We have to see IDCC's response to be able to compare and judge...until then it is just an amusement to theorize.
-vg_future
I agree. However, too analystical (err..I meant analytical) for me to figure out.
-vg_future
With the decreasing outstanding shares (buybacks) and decreasing expenses (less/no legal battles), the EPS will be a lot higher than the projected 6.50 if the revenues range from 500 to 600 million.
So, even with the 15 multiple....the target would definitely go up.
JMHO,

orientbull, here is the link for the Intel chips rumor
http://news.investors.com/031115-743065-intel-modem-chips-reportedly-might-go-into-iphones.htm?ven=yahoocp&src=aurlled&ven=yahoo
This should be beneficial for IDCC. If intel wants to keep all to themselves then they can buy IDCC
This should help the stock move up further.... JMHO.
-vg_future
Thanks loophole73. EOM
loophole73, sorry for the repeat question if you have already answered this. Does the upcoming trial include monetary aspect as well or is it just infringement related?
TIA,
vg_future
Thanks JimLur and postyle and anybody/all who will post the analysis soon. Do we know what the decision says (leaving the analysis part aside)...or does the decision itself has to be deciphered and analysed?
TIA,
vg_future
I strongly echo your thoughts/sentiment about IDCC's confidence. Shares being purchased at 53.61 is a very big vote of confidence. Hope the street wakes up to this.
-vg_future
by the time my post went through I think the volume has gone upto over 1.3 million. Someone posted the pre-market trades showing at 53.61...meaning the shares changing hands between big guys.
Anyway, it will be an interesting day....
-vg_future
Either one of the institute or the bond/note purchaser or the company itself (around $43 mill worth of IDCC stock @53.61 as per the PR this morning) is buying or bought the stock this morning. Look at the volume. Looks like it would be an up day.
JMHO,
vg_future
hock1, got it. Thanks for the clarification/response. Keeping my fingers crossed for the deal to be concluded and terms announced.
-vg_future
hock1, I understand what you are saying. So, in this case they should have worked out everything (including pricing) and then announce it. I am not sure if it is possible bcoz they have to announce it and then let buyers show up at their door steps to decide the price. For some reason I am under the impression that they announced the deal and the price at the same time when they had this type sale last time in 2010/2011. Anyway, let's see how it goes. I thought this whole deal as positive bcoz of the company's situation now vs last time.
JMHO,
vg_future
Quick question...I hope/request only members with knowledge respond. TIA.
Can any publicly traded company buy such bonds/notes or only institutions have to buy them? I am trying to understand (of course dream up as well) any synergies.
I appreciate the answer(s).
Thanks,
vg_future
The situation then was different. IDCC needed some big name and some additional money when they participated in the Nortel auction. It is different financial situation now and as the PR says, they will most likely pay off Barclays with this money. I don't know all the financial gimmicks that companies play, but I know lot of the big companies borrow money when the interest rates are low (like they are now).
JMHO,
vg_future
This is not negative. Everybody is borrowing to take advantage of low interest rates now. Moreover last time when this happened, shortly after (within a year) the company went on the block with "for sale" board. We don't know what is happening/cooking now. We don't know who will be the buyers of these notes..it could be a big firm that could help.
Also, we don't know the price yet, so I will be hard pressed to call this as negative.
JMHO,
vg_future
Gamco, thanks. I was trying to find this specific article. It says 3.5 or 5 % on 65% of the device price. So, wouldn't that be less than 5%? Probably, it has been like this before as well. But, I am not sure.
Either way, it should be good for IDCC bcoz IDCC's rates should be considered FRAND based on this.
Thanks,
vg_future
Thanks my3sons87. Great NEWS...or atleast the beginning of great NEWS! Now, it is just waiting for the final justice day.
I still strongly believe that the company is buying at these levels. So, whoever is selling or shorting are giving the stocks to IDCC in JMHO.
Thanks,
vg_future
I think people are over reacting unnecessarily. If it is such a big issue, then IDCC wouldn't be buying at these levels (which we have seen that it is doing). The whole Apple situation (Pegatron, Foxconn, etc) should be settled one way or other soon. That would take care of these type of frivolous suits as well. The following are my JMHO
1. We need the whole enchilada and not just Pegatron alone paying for some % of apple products a more desirable rate.
2. The case would take some time for resolution...so, Pegatron continues paying at the current rates as per arbitration decision or new Apple rates if that happens sooner.
3. I wouldn't sweat this that much...for these companies with cut throat pricing competition, it is business as usual...trying to save wherever they can even it means fighting.
4. Huawei arbitration decision/settlement right around the corner...which might might set the price for even ZTE.
5. NOK/MSFT decision in couple of months. Settlement could be following.
NOTE: Unnecessary fears will only bring unwanted posters (more like noise makers) crawling out from under their hiding places. The board becomes unreadable.
Goodluck to the real longs...I mean it.
-vg_future
I hope so. Eom
