Nope! Long time lurker over there.
And ya'll thought nobody was watching, lol.
LoDi - Good tunes, and I know you got LOTS more.
'Bout time you came over and played a few here.
Like the handle too. Fitting. <g>
Yep! Tired of replacing tires every other day lighting 'em up like that.
Besides, someone (said enough, I think) had the gall <g> to say they were irritating, if you can imagine that, lol.
Figured I'd meet her half way.

Hey, guy, Happy Birthday!

MMMmmary's latest complaint on RB....
"I have whackos calling my 1-800 number from canada because of this."

mlsoft - Doubt if this has an bearing on your problem, but FWIW...
Yesterday, Comcast got around to switching servers in my area. I noticed when I first got on the 'puter that I was receiving 3 emails, but was in a hurry to check stocks.
About an hour later, I noticed I was still trying to receive those 3 emails, so the fun began trying to figure out why.
To complicate matters, I've downloaded IncrediMail software to "pretty up" my emails. Basically it just routes email from Outlook Express to their software.
After an hour or two trying to figure out if the problem was IncrediMail or OE, re-configuring both, etc. (I could send, but not receive) I get this email from Comcast telling me about switching servers.
I have no idea how that happened, because I was still trying to receive those 3 emails AFTER I got the one from Comcast. How it got through I have no idea.
Comcast email had a wizard to make the switch easier...HAH!
After using it, I got another "miracle" email saying my new addy was now xxxxxxx@attbi.com@comcast.net, lol.
(Trying to shorten this, lol) Spent the rest of the afternoon playing with it, until I finally got an error message #.
Went to the MSFT Knowledge base, and it turns out that Norton is the culprit! Workaround was to uncheck "scan incoming email" in their anti-virus section. Did that, and the emails came through.
14 months using Norton with the box checked and no problems, but now I have to NOT scan incoming email? One of the main virus entry ways?
Finally got everything configured, email addy straightened out and went back into Norton, put the checkmark back in the box.
Everything working fine again!
Needless to say Comcast is not high on my favorites list right now, lol. A simple line about the Norton thing would have been nice.
Arkieboy1 - Just did some checking on Hyper-Threading, and no, I don't have it.
Hyper-Threading needs a P4 with at least 3.06 gigs, mine is only 2.26.
I just checked the IE icon on my desktop, and discovered that somehow it's been change to MSN, lol.
But, I don't recall seeing "provided by Comcast" on it before.
BTW - I'm in central Calif. Don't know where you are, but would a different area have different versions?
Thanks. Thought the gif was fitting. <g>
I don't have the slightest idea. <g> What is it? and how would I check to see if I have it? And what does it do?
I guess you can tell that after 6 years of owning a 'puter, I'm still in the novice class, huh? lol.
mlsoft - That may have been me. I have IE6/XP/Comcast and I have all 7 tabs.
I take it you don't get out much?
Actually, I'm tired of replacing tires every day, so that one might go.
Soon, as they say on the EDIG board, lol.
Well, would you rather have them irritate you, or me?
Don't pick on me, I'm still in jousting mood from RB today, lol.
'bout time.
Uhh, that's ..If I can have this one, lol.
Edit: No, I mean that other one. The pilandromic one. (or what ever it is.)
ok, if I dcan havea athis one, lol.
Sure, let the new guy do it. Leave OD out of this. lol.
Heard about it, but where do I vote?
Agree that taking away is not good. Now that RB is working fairly well again, some would likely just move back if posting limit was reduced, imo.
Churak - Too bad you missed the fun on SUGG today. Wen showed up again, lol.
Can you believe RB had the balls to delete several of my posts today? First ever, I think.
Computer Learning board...

Rant:
It's almost 6:30 here, and still 103° out there.
The good news is that it's supposed cool off tomorrow.... to around 98°, and stay there for the rest of the week.
The bad news is that thunderstorms are predicted starting tomorrow night for the rest of the week.
I've been in central California for about 40 years, but have yet to see it raining hot water, lol.
Well, umm, ahh,...it is kinda hard to miss.
k² - Hah! After reading some of your posts, I seriously doubt the man/woman thing.
Dial up?
About a year ago I went from a 200mmx with 64 mb SDRAM memmory and a 4 gig hard drive with dial-up to a 2.26 gig P4/512 RDRAM/80 gig and went to cable. Scary fast difference! Needed a seat belt at first, lol.
I don't notice any difference in page loading with or without iBOX info, even on Derf's board or the Outdoor Adventures board.
I have no patience either. No time for it at my age, lol.
k² - LOL, I used to do the same until I discovered some of them are funny, (some on purpose) some are dour, some are just plain interesting, and some are really informative, like the Computer Learning board.
Just using the links there would probably solve half the problems posted on that board.
I read 'em all at least once before hiding it whenever I end up on a new board now.
mlsoft - I'm using IE6, and I show 7 tabs. I have general/security/privacy/content/connections/programs/advanced.
I think advanced is the one you're looking for. It has a long list of options with a checkbox for each?
Then too, not being able to download from MSFT update might be due to security settings.
The link to the list is at the bottom of the Jailhouse iBOX.
My 2 cents, fwiw.......
Leave the counts where they are. (Although Churaks sugg of unlimited for stock boards, premium for all others has merit. Or maybe not unlimited, but raised to 25 or so.)
I did a quick survey of the "big 3" on the Swing board recently. For that particular week, 2 of them were well under the 18 post limit daily, while the 3rd was over the 18....big time....two of the 5 days. BUT, he is already grandfathered in on IHUB, so no problem there.
I also did another survey of another board before they moved to IHUB. Only 2 were close to the 18 post limit, but since the move, I don't think any have had any problem.
I think if you start adjusting for one person or group, all the others will want the same consideration, and rightly so, imo. "Why does he have more than me?" and "Not fair" type complaints will come flooding in.
Also imo, the 18 post limit helps keep some of the riff-raff off the boards. For example, on RB, there are boards where a poster will make 6-8-10 posts in a row....none of them really TOS'able, but none of them furthering any coherent discussion either.
As far as Linda's rant, yeah, the price for premium is kinda steep, imo, but if you want it badly enough, you'll find a way.
It's kinda like....I'd sure like to have a Saleen S7, but at $400,900.00, I'll just have to make do with my 'Vette. I doubt my complaining to Saleen is gonna get me any breaks on the price, lol.
LOL! Good one.
Every once in a while when I was bored, I'd take the air filter off mine and mess with air/fuel mixture screw. (Stupid me didn't get the tri-power, only had the 4-barrel.) You could get it to make all kinds of different sounds that way. One was a high pitched whistle.
Wouldn't race it that way, but would just cruise around for a bit, making people wonder just what I had under the hood.
Luckily, no one challenged me when I did that, lol. Guess they thought it was one big bad engine. (Or, upon reflection, maybe they thought it WAS one bad engine, lol.)
Ha! That reminds me of shortly after I'd purchased my '64 GTO.
A friend had put a 327 engine into a '55 Chevy, and it was pretty quick too. So one night we decided to see who was quicker.
I still hadn't mastered launching that Goat, and when we took off I watched his taillights disappear down the road while I sat there spinning the tires in a cloud of smoke. Thought I'd broken something, lol.
He even beat me from a slow rolling start as I still broke 'em loose in 1st.
And THAT reminds me of driving the GTO home from the dealer.
Came to an intersection where the light had just changed to yellow. In the old '50 Ford I traded in, if I stomped on it, I could have made it through before the light turned red, so I stomped on it. Didn't realize I was in 2nd gear, (first 4-speed I ever owned) and burned rubber all through the intersection.
Lucky there were no cops around, lol.
C'mon, we all pay....one way or another, lol.
You almost gotta feel sorry for the new crew trying to hold it together, lol.
Not enough fingers to plug the dy...umm, uhhh, dikes.
You gotta be kiddin'! I'm still on my original set on the 'Vette, (About 10k miles) but I understand those run-flats are around $300 each. And I thought that was bad, lol.
Thanks, feel better about 'em already.
Yeah, the problem is....sure go through a lot of tires smoking 'em like that. And them run-flats ain't cheap, lol.
Like the old days, lol. Up $6.98 last I looked!
BnB - I thought for sure someone was gonna jump in and take it away from ya, lol.
Just read the last 50-60 posts on SUGG and can't stop laughing!
Posters think they're posting on their board, only to have it show up on SUGG.
If they had time to use all the features here, I don't think too many would go back to RB.
If they all could luck into "meeting" the posters here that I did, none would go back. Too much fun! I spend most of my IHUB time laughing my arse off at the antics that go on. Forget to check my trades sometimes, lol.
