riptide (loved the pink helicopter, by the way)
This merely extends the Employee Stock Option Plan termination date. I am assuming that, like most companies, all levels of employees can take part in the option plan to varying degrees, not just management. The original plan expires in 2004. Rather than come up with a new plan, they are just moving the validity of the existing plan out another 5 years. I don't see this as a positive OR a negative. Just housekeeping.
REALLY curious though about why this wasn't addressed in the previous SHM...
spin, don't like, don't dislike. I've asked wave why the split. will see what their answer is
Hey rachel, where ya been? Welcome back from your absence. you were missed.
not understood.
One of the various 'reporters' from the SHM mentioned that this would occur, and I still don't understand why these items weren't included in the original meeting. There was some comment about cost, but, again, I don't understand. Will be asking the company.
QOT: NSM earnings call today at 1 p.m.
wonder if there will be any mention of TPM business...
BTK, I agree with you. Wave's success is entirely dependent on the pace of trusted client rollout.
Every time there is an article like this:
http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=11367
(in any publication) and the pressure builds.
I can't predict Wave's take rate any better than you (or anyone else) can.
I do know that with Wave in every TPM dropped by NSM, and bundled with one of Intel's trusted mobos, they have a fighting chance. This is the worse case scenario in my mind.
Best case has the pressure building to such a point that vanilla TPM won't solve the problem, but EMBASSY does...
Of course, that's a dream for another day.
Listening to the HP talk at Cowen...
Doen't sound like anything that would pop the stock...
Perhaps something came out of this...

This should be interesting to follow...

Has anyone actually asked Wave, within the past few days, if the new (Attestation Credential Manager and Key Transfer Manager) tools mentioned on the CEOCast site are currently available (production available, not beta available)? And if they are available for all brands of TPM?
Seems to me that it would save a lot of speculation.
because SKS is being very cagey these days.
And that's the best way to smash the shorts. I'm not one for short term gratification...I can wait.
You assume there's going to be HP news.
*I* assume we'll find out about it after the fact, as revenues are tallied...
Ramsey, visibility of the attestation and key tools is nice, but where in the heck did you find them? The Ceocast link did NOTHING for me...
[edit] Ramsey, never mind. I registered and all was clear to me...
[edit again], I bet you'll answer before you notice I found it!
Some great wedding couples, from Leno

...and finally...
At this age, basic ball handling skills are best. We put them three abreast, with a ball, and have them run the length of the pitch passing the ball back and forth (left has the ball, dribble a few paces, passes to middle, who dribbles a few paces and passes it to right, who dribbles and passes it to middle, to left, to middle, to right...etc).
The player in the middle is generally the best passer, and the two wings not as good (are more in need of the drill). At the end they turn around, so the person passing left now has to pass right and vice versa. The person in the middle does both all the time. The hardest part is keeping the kids far enough apart to make passing meaningful.
ALSO, for trap and control, three abreast again, but no dribbling...
players set up like this
A..................B.................C
A passes to B. B traps the ball, turns and passes it to C. C traps, passes back to B, B traps, turns and passes to A. After a dozen or so, rotate the players
B................C.................A
then
C................A.................B
teaches trapping and controlling the flow.
The thing that is hardest to drill into the little folks head is keeping their position (relatively). We had two goals scored against us this afternoon because fullbacks (defense) came up to help on a corner kick leaving the goalie all alone. The opposing team got the ball from the corner and lobbed it up field giving a one on one for our keeper. He stopped a number of tries, but on 2 occasions they got past him. Training will focus very much on team responsibilities the next few times out.
Don't have any links, excel, but I too coach my son's under 9 team. There is a coaching clinic here in singapore I'm going to sign up for this year...if anything comes of that I'll pass it on.
(Now I've got to go and get ready for the season opener this afternoon...)
Reading through that article, when I first hit this sentence...
However, critics of the trusted-computing movement, which includes Microsoft's Next Generation Secure Computing Platform, have expressed concerns that it enables and extends Digital Rights Management (DRM) and will result in privacy incursions.
...I read it as MSFT being a critic...

Don't recollect this particular article in the Intel flurry (though it may have been posted already) but it's interesting to note the positive spin, and NO Wave bluelighting (but INTC and IBM Are blue-lit)
http://www.ecommercetimes.com/perl/story/31251.html
Reynolds said that while TPM and the security mechanisms it entails might have difficulty penetrating the IT markets because it is both new and difficult to understand, there is an eager audience for trustworthy computing.
It's a significant increase in the level of security," he said. "There are people who realize the need for this and they will buy it."

and while the vanilla TPM won't help much with virus protection (any more than existing tools) future generations no doubt will...and Wave is already there.
trustco,
"...if M needs itru, they will pay for it.."
through the licensing, yes, but I don't see MSFT being able to buy ITRU away from Sony/Philips.

Rick, you're correct
http://www.sony.com/SCA/press/021113.shtml
Fidelio Acquisition Company, LLC, a company formed by Sony Corporation of America, a subsidiary of Sony Corporation (NYSE:SNE), Royal Philips Electronics (AEX: PHI, NYSE: PHG) and certain other investors, has executed a definitive agreement to acquire InterTrust Technologies Corporation (NASDAQ: ITRU). As a result of the transaction, Fidelio will acquire all of the outstanding common stock of InterTrust for approximately $453 million on a fully diluted basis or $4.25 per share. The most important objective of the transaction is to enable secure distribution of digital content by providing wider access to InterTrust's key Digital Rights Management (DRM) intellectual property on a fair and reasonable basis.
...pretty much removing MSFT as a threat to ITRU...in fact, I would strongly suggest it's the other way around.
I suspect the anethestic still hasn't worn off. He'd post, but it would be incomprehensible gibberish until the freezing wears off...

Reading the pdf (last para) says
The new developments in PC and network security will help to create this trust. Secured login, secured email, digital signatures, secure intranet, data encryption, sure extranet/intranet/remote access are all elements that will benefit from these developments. And remember, the key to this is… security.
