Henry Paulson Called A National Hero
Thursday, 04 Jun 2009 12:15 PM Article Font Size
By: Dan Weil
Hank Paulson, national hero.
So writes Evan Newmark in a Wall Street Journal blog. He praises the former Treasury Secretary for guiding the financial system back to stability.
“The TARP bailout worked. The Wall Street crisis is over,” Newmark writes.
TARP, the Troubled Asset Relief Program established by Paulson, is the $700 billion government vehicle for lending money to banks.
“By… Sept. 15, the first anniversary of the fall of Lehman Brothers, five of the original eight TARP banks will have repaid the American taxpayer $50 billion plus interest,” Newmark writes.
“Don’t get me wrong. The economy is still in crummy shape. But, at least it’s functioning.”
Instead of worrying about banks collapsing, “now we worry about getting full value for our warrants in the same banks,” Newmark points out.
The credit market rebound also proves TARP’s worthiness, he maintains.
“Who can doubt the amazing recovery of the credit markets? The best performing asset class so far in 2009 has been distressed debt.”
Newmark acknowledges that Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke also deserves substantial credit for stanching the financial meltdown.
“But TARP was the beginning of the end of the crisis. And it was Paulson’s baby,” he writes.
Some see the end of TARP in sight as banks raise money to get out from under government oversight, following the Treasury Department’s much-ballyhooed stress tests.
Even, perhaps, a chance to invest again in institutions some feared were doomed to close.
"The Armageddon trade is off the table," said David Tepper, president of Appaloosa Management LP, a Short Hills, N.J., hedge-fund firm told The Wall Street Journal.
Banking "may be the cheapest sector in the market," Tepper said.

When tarp money was getting poured into the market to prop up stocks, "I mean companies?" who received tarp, the feeding frenzy got underway. If we go back in time when Paulson, Cox, and Bernake went before the Senate banking committee with Cox adding that there was a huge problem with naked short selling of CDS's, only after the horses left the barn, and only after this meeting did Cox place a ban on short-selling within the financial sector, and "only the financial sector", which only lasted "until Bernake was given approval giving Paulson the go ahead to crank up the printing presses in the order of 2 trillion. Who said 2 or yet 3 heads weren't better than one to undertake the biggest money heist in American history?. All done legally without the Fed or Treasury having earned one dollar of it, it was just taken. The American peoples outcry fell on "deaf ears".
The question begs how many of those that received tarp, and we still don't know all who did, are reaping the benefits on the back side having accounts with these offshore hedgies?. Nothing has changed, as its been since, and up till now business as usual. The American people have to be looked at (by them) as the chumps who got snared, not hooked, but hasn't this almost always been the case?
Paulson stated the American people were already on the "hook!". Even though the American people did not create this it was their responsiblity to cover for those rich bastards. He didn't quite say this, but this was the fact regardless. The American people got hooked for sure after the Senate Banking Committee gave them their blessings. Goldman was just one of the players richly rewarded, and they had zero money loaned out in residential loans.
3 days after this the ban was lifted. . Its never stopped since.

Its every which way we turn. Kinda like getting paid only after the Fed & State gets theirs, then for every purchase we make after is taxed again and again, and again. If we kept track of all our purchases, gas, is a biggy throughout the week or month, I bet the Fed, State, and City all toll wind up with about 50% of a persons earnings.........if a person smokes, or makes any liquor purchases, like gas, a good percentage of the cost goes for taxes............an if you want to take the family out to a ball game there goes the rest!:):(
Isn't this what it was like in jolly ole England when the people were no more than subjects?........... Nobles, or so called, it was a little different story, kinda like whats going on here with the good ole boys, and the 62 or 63,000+ tax codes, especially the covering for the mega rich who can funnel money into so called charitable foundations, and yet still have access to the money, all the time using it for a tax write offs. The rich rarely if ever get challenged.............what about those who were burying money in Swiss accounts to evade paying taxes?.......55,000 of them if I remember, and the government decided to only look into about 10% of those accounts, if ever they did?, and the last I remember hearing about it..............
There's 2 systems.........one for the super rich, and of course politicians, and the other for the rest of us.
Wall Street, Publicly traded corporations, and DC is where the word bundled was formed.
Has anyone seen this guy? :)) or would like to?......His hotspots were Vegas, clubs with female dancers, or drinking at high end bars. I thought Madoff was given a long prison term, but its nothing to what this guy got, and when ya compare the damages he was still small change.
http://www.revisionisthistory.org/jewish_fraud.html
Yep. The 2 most important things that the people can do is to push, push, and push, and then push more for the passage of legislation for term limits. 1 term for a Senator, and 2 for Congress. They should not be the ones who determine this. If they choose otherwise it should be challenged before The US Supreme Court. The Congress wielded the power to limit how many terms a President can serve, but yet they made sure they weren't included in that legislation. The very reasons was to give them control. The longer they are in the more corrupted they become, the perks, and pay raises they receive are passed by them, and like Dodd the pensions alone they receive after """""""30+ years"""""""" are second to none on earth, first for those who are positioned as Ceo's of publicly traded companies get, and some just out of the box after a few short years of service in severance payouts.
The other thing that voters can do is to not re-elect any who are in today, nothing would shake up that nest of snakes more than this, and if the new ones elected do not meet the terms of the American voters who elected them should understand that the people have the right to recall.
The same for State Representatives, Governors, Mayors, unlike the elected body of Congress, this would have to pushed thru individual States.
One of the biggest problems but not the only one our country is facing are homegrown terrorist in the form of gangs, and they operate in every city in our country, and its growing worse. If our Governors, Mayors working with law enforcement can't uproot this cancer, and aren't willing to keep the heat on, and get them out of peoples neighborhoods and streets don't deserve those positions. What they need to figure out is what to do with them?.
I'm in favor of a Devils Island, or a prison getting built in Death Valley, a wall the size of the Mojave Desert with a 50 foot wall with no parole, better yet the middle of the Sahara without walls, just a drop off point.
Our politicians are more than willing to rebuild Haiti, and prior to the Earth quake, none of the help, and none of the money given to its past or present government into the billions made any difference, because its always been corrupted, just like Mexico. We have so many serious issues facing our own nation, and all the money the government chooses to give away, as it has with these bailouts will never come back, in the interim our infrastructure is crumbling beneath us nationwide, and if its not this its immigration, illegal and legal without any caps as our government fights about what it cannot afford for its own people, even the rebirth of jobs, old and new.
They depend on the American people to build and establish them so one day they can either move abroad, or give them to others by either insourcing or outsourcing, and the politicians have made damn sure they could because of the money they give them """to run again an again""", and whatever else they receive under the table. Cheaper wages, means bigger and bigger salaries for those at the top, as they flood our markets with everything manufactured abroad....................
Hard working middle class Americans are " Not On The Hook", but rather have been "Snared In Their Net" by all the crooks in DC, Wall Street, and Corporatism. The 3 rating agencies for those CDO's told it all along with an Insurance company like AIG who were allowed to sell insurance to cover the bets placed on them in the form of CDS's, but lacking any of the capital to back or cover those bets, and we all know who and what covered those bets. Then we had the parties at high end resorts, high end salaries that continued to follow with millions paid out in bonuses, all at the expense of their constituents they look at as fools, because they believe the American people will rollover into believing their horseshit.
They did this without batting as much as an eye, solely for the asking from the Treasury Secretary, the ex-ceo of Goldman Sachs, and institution that played a major roll in the causes for the Great Depression. Who recently paid out 16.1 or so billion in bonuses for their crew. Only 10 million of the 23 billion had to be payed back, and this came in the form of them selling stock, not from generated revenues, but for that corrupted institution its really all in the same.
Hate it, like it, or love the health care bill just give a look at the fighting that went on over it. Not just the fighting but the lobbying money spent by the profiteers, racketeers to get what they wanted. Whether it would be this, or the country being opposed to a war, when it really comes to the hard working middleclass Americans, and what would make life better for them or this nation they get a deaf ear.
But when it comes to what corporations want or special interest groups it really got kicked up into high gear with the election of Kennedy, and its been going down hill in a big way since. Not that it hasn't been going on longer since most of us have been alive, but padora's box was opened by a family who were in all reality detached from the rest of the country inside their multi-million dollar compounds like so many of them are...........
We have been on a down hill course with disaster for the last 45+years, and so much of it was laid out to get votes. Who can deny it?, just look at the mess this country is in, and is facing today..........Things done wrong, gone wrong, and for the wrong reasons, a pattern was established. There was opposition in the form of protest from the American people for the Vietnam war, there was lots of anger then, kinda like today, but nothing has really changed, not really, the politicians keep on keeping on, doing all the things they did then, and seldom for the overall good of the country, and the American people.
There's a parable I remember that reads, don't go to war unless the entire family agree's.
Should it not be this was for a country?. If the overall opinion is no shouldn't the leaders take heed?. In Germany during Hitlers reign an entire nation got on board with a dictator, you would think old glory flies for a nation based on democracy, an just one of the reasons we went after Hitler, but when we witness how our system works what happens to the voice of the American people?
Sorry guess this is more than my 2 cent worth, I guess I spent 50 cent, but considering the worth of the dollar and its depreciation its still only worth 2 cent.......:))
How much money will the government cost the taxpayer for the rich who were responsible, for Wall Street, for publicly traded companies, and the debt will no doubt be forgiven, because the American people has no voice, like those who suffered from the Exxon Valdez, a company who has profitted more than any publicly traded company in the history of the world, who hasn't yet paid for its disaster, but those at the top are receiving winning lottery tickets year after year. Not for most Americans who may owe money declared by the IRS, the very agency that was headed by Paulson, and made sure he took care of his interest, and his buddies at Goldman Sachs, but not for defaulted student loans, not even to the grave, but whats a couple hundred billion?

Thanks for clearing that up for me. :), my brother took the mystery out of how they met a few months ago. The world hasn't been the same since. :)

Clare NolanProducer/WriterSecret Lives of Charles Lindbergh
When I started this project I already knew Charles Lindbergh as 1) an aviation pioneer 2) the victim of a horrific crime; and 3) a Nazi. The man's life was an open book, I thought. What more was there to learn about him? Turns out, there's a lot more to Charles Lindbergh than most of us ever knew. As I soon discovered, Lindbergh was more anti-interventionist than pro-Nazi: he opposed American involvement in any European war. And that was just the first layer of myth that began to fall away the deeper I delved.

:) Its a mystery, its anything but simple, but there are a couple of simple questions to ask the geniuses who would like us all to believe this.
1. Imagine complete darkness, zero light.
2. Imagine zero energy sources or atoms to produce any.
3. Imagine zero space, complete nothingness.
Then ask the age old question to any scientist re-known or otherwise to explain how it all began, how did space originated, and where did the first energy source come from?.
A human being is made up of billions of cells, how did this happen?, and since we are living in what they proclaim to be billions of years in the future from where it all began why we cannot see one creature evolve into something else?.....
???????? other than politicians! :)
Yep! every last one of them.
Sorry I disagree. You called me a liberal, "a knee jerk liberal". Just to clear it up I tried to explain where I stand.
What does the Texas School Board have to do with Wisconsin?, for that matter any other State?, this is what I was outlining.
The Theory of Evolution is in direct conflict with a persons faith who has been raised and believes in a Creator, like the big bang. If a person challenges this in the class room it creates a problem. Biology can be taught on whats evident, what can be seen, and it can be very interesting to see how things work, but what does this have to do with Darwin, one mans opinion that has been shot full of holes. If a person is interested in this theory it should be a separate class subject, such as creationism, but when we go here we get into the area of separating church an State, like our politics. If creationism is the only thing that can realistically challenge this theory then it is a religion all unto itself. I said its good that this is finally becoming recognized. It distorts biology, and for many young people a direct challenge to their faith.
Changing gears.......This health care bill is a real issue among registered voters, dems, republicans, independents alike, no one really likes it, and its obvious why, it doesn't really address what is causing escalating health care cost, insurance companies we know to be racketeers, but what about the hospitals, and the drug companies, etc, etc who can easily put a person out their home and into bankruptcy if they cannot afford just the one hospital stay, but had zero choice in showing up there.............how will this really impact the elderly, and those with disabilities?. The government hasn't been able to really take care of the Veterans, so how can it take care of 30 million + Americans?..........what about the illegals, and abortions, and a host of other things...........Nancy said something to the effect that the bill should first get passed then give a look at it?.......What?, its kinda like going to buy a car, and then get told to trust them, we can look under the hood when we get it home...............If everybody was on board with this they should have enough brains to at least get it right thats acceptable to the American people.
I know!, "This has nothing to do with the Texas School Board", right?. :)
Democrats and Republicans alike, its not about whose what, this for that lot inside the Beltway who want control, and the power of control we have witnessed this when the Republicans had it as well. This is more about them and who gets the upperhand. For the rest of us non politicians, the average working person, we have and will catch the brunt of whatever they pass, all of us, one way or the other.
Sorry, you must have me mixed up with someone else. I hate both parties. Both are guilty for to many things to mention.
The problem I have with this is Texas being able to set the standards for the rest of the country. Its not a knee jerk. Every several years schools, even those with higher learning discount what was taught several years prior. Biology is one. Biology is interesting, and as opposed to teaching what is evident, they have to throw in Carl Sagan, and all the rest of that crap.
I can agree on one of things you pointed out. Darwin and the theory of evolution has been taught as a religion without facts to base any of it on, the reason being its just that, "a theory". Just what does this do to young minds?
I personally believe in creationism.
Is it fair to say that you're a Republican?.
Can you explain the difference between a Capitalistic system, and a Free Enterprise system, and what changes are being made to make it fair?. What changes in the market system have changed?. Republicans love calling this system a free market, and fight to make and keep it, we have all been witness to what it means. "Free Enterprise system", does sound softer, even sounds great, at least on the surface, a "Mortician" sounds softer than what he really is, an "Undertaker", like the label Gay, as opposed to what it is, Homosexual, and our system is helping to make it appear normal.
"A free market?", or "Free Enterprise System", for most of the politicians in particular the republicans means no rules, no regulations, no oversight so they can continue with all the corruption we have witnessed............the democrats are just as guilty for having allowed it to happen, they're 2 peas out of the same pot, and have been for decades. When one isn't taxing us more the other is sending this country to war.
We continue to hear on Fox, especially Glen Beck that FDR created the problems we are experiencing today, really????. He's interesting, and many of things he points out I can agree with, his solutions to the problems are addressed with little to no government, and he takes the public back only to the point of where he wants it to start. The problem I have with this is that he doesn't go back quite far enough in history to justify what he claims to believe, "God", being one. If he hopes to mend this country, and its people he will have to go back a tad farther than FDR, and the founding fathers. You can't justify founding anything where people are thriving, and whose home this had been for thousands of years............it would be like me coming to your home and having seen it and did a walkthrough claim it be mine. I tell you, your out, and I'm moving in.
Glen Beck is a republican, who believes Rush is Great and Dick Cheney is to a great man..............really???.....yeah, like Ronald Reagan, like the Bush's. The Native Americans had a free enterprise system, they traded with each other, and tried trading with the Europeans, but we see where that got them. Our country today has a free enterprise system that is used against us, and most of our goods comes from China, Japan, India, and so on, mainly from abroad, except one thing, our food.
The things that FDR put in place was good, and thought thru with common sense and goodness, both he and his wife tried to heal this nation, the actual first since the Native Americans lost their land from the genocide that was committed, and the first to reach out to the African Americans, who to wound up here without invitation, and various other nationalities. This land did not belong to anyone other than the Native Americans, and the only ones whose side I will forever be on, and what wasn't stolen for right under them was taken in the bloodshed they spilled, or from hunger, exhaustion, and disease. No matter what this system is called it was founded on blood. the problem is that the politicians that followed from JFK till present ruined them. The harm thats been done will never be reconciled, many today still have the mindset of Andrew Jackson. The founding fathers cannot be compared to todays politicians, but even so were corrupted.
The argument has been, and remains on Healthcare, and how to pay for it, they had no such arguments with the Money they handed out to Wall Street, and a ridiculous argurment at that, how will they find the money to clean up this National Debt of $15 trillion?, so whats another trillion now?. What has destroyed a sytem that could have worked?.......special interest groups, lobbyist, wall street?, politicians is a great place to start for having sold their souls to them.
Since we have become a nation of 50 states if nothing more should not there a least be a meeting of heads for the betterment of all the things that are being taught in our schools?. Many things have been spun on our history thats been and is being taught in our schools, and not all of it is based on facts.
Changing gears, what doesn't make a whole lot of sense, the law was changed by Congress to only allow 2 terms for a President, but what they continue to fail to do is to include themselves,,,,,,,,,,,think about how bizaar this is?.......this should also include Mayors, and Governors.
Rewriting history books with a new spin every several years, they'll put every kind of spin on it as they have, it changes with theory of evolution. Its scary to think how kids are being indoctrinated, every parent needs to play a role in their kids education, the biggest problem today is them finding the real time to do it.
All we need to do to find the facts is to look where we've been over the last 50 years, and during this time I have yet to see a fish change into a tree shrew, or a monkey into a man regardless of their sexual affiliations.:). But I have seen politicians turn into all kinds of things, and some had to be put into cages:)
Then becomes the Secretary Of Defense, and on to the VP, Bush's old mans choice, he knew his son couldn't run a bubble gum store, so he gave him someone who chewed alot of it, not bubble gum, but a whole lot of sh--, and was a good liar, and manipulator, and with a big voice in the Pentagon.........the only job requirement for those positions isn't what ya know but who ya know.
Were becoming a dictator country
Not becoming, "are". The entire nation was against TARP. You've heard the description of Wall Streets, Chinese Wall?. For voters its called the suggestion box.
How long did it take for the Congress to find a $1,000,000,000,000. for all these low life bankers, Citigroup, BAC, lending institutions which would include their credit card departments, hedge funds like Goldman Sachs, and an Insurance company to the tune of $185,000,000,000, but needed more than double this. "Car Manufacturers mind you as they flew around in corporate jets, and getting paid $20,000+ an hour to do it. And no one knows what happened to it?, not even Congress. But if they really were concerned it would have "not" been dished out, hand over fist.
Now their back to blaming on Social Security, and entitlement programs.........as is typical.
Yes we saw the market bounce back, and the reason for this allot of that money found its way into stocks. Was any one surprised to see the Ceo's bail for their multi-million dollar severance packages, once they were put on the spot to work for once without pay until they turned the mess they created back around given money to do it with?. GM's Ceo resigned regardless of the spin they put on it, ya gotta admit it looks bad when the Captain is one of the first to leave the sinking ship............
Where is Paulson today???, his accountability, oh yes, he's writing a book about it, not about his accountability, or where the money went, but he'll tell a good story non the less, fact or fiction. There should be no question that he and others were rewarded nicely for having pulled off the biggest heist in history in plain view. It was kinda like the banker giving the robber a security key code after hours, having made sure he turned off the security camera's, and the combination to the safe with his blessings having been duped, then wiping the place down to remove any finger prints. The only difference here that it was done nice an legal, if it wasn't they made it legal adding a few amendments, and in front of the entire world. Duped would be an under statement. All we have to do is look at the Morons running this country, and when they're not doing it behind closed doors, they're doing it in the Congressional showers, its in the Oval Office, then tickling each other after.
Inflation and the Falling U.S. Dollar
Printing dollars adds up to inflation down the road
By Steve Christ
Thursday, December 18th, 2008
War fighting may be tough on boots but its murder on the wallet. Unfortunately, Captain Allan McClain learned this lesson the hard way.
And a hard lesson it was. Amazingly, he laid out an incredible $600 for new a pair. And to add insult to injury he was charged a whopping $10 for a simple spool of thread.
It hardly seems like a fair deal for an American fighting man but it happened.
It was January 1781.
Captain McClain wasn't fighting Islamic fascists but the British. He was a soldier in the Continental Army. And he was paid in Continental Dollars.
Needless to say he deserved better.
Of course it wasn't supposed to turn out that way. And like most things it seemed like a good idea at the time.
Created in 1775, the Continental Dollar, was a series of notes designed to support the Revolution. Its plates were crudely engraved by Paul Revere himself and printed on such thick paper that the Brits referred to it as "the paste board money of the rebels". The Brits were onto something.
At the behest of Congress only 2 million dollars worth these of "paste board" notes were to be created. And by July of 1775 these notes became part of the currency.
But surprise...surprise....it wasn't enough. It never is...not even then.
Almost as soon as these new bills hit the street the Congress decided that they needed more money and by the end of 1775 over 6 million dollars worth of these notes rolled off the presses and into circulation.
Since the total money supply in the colonies at the time was estimated to be about 12 million dollars, the new dollars represented an amazing 50% increase in the money supply.
But Congress, of course, could not help itself. Even our sainted founding fathers needed more.
By its final printing the aggregate amount of bills in circulation skyrocketed to a stunning $242 million dollars in as little as 5 years!
Needless to say, this massive devaluation of the currency through the inflated money supply devastated the notes. By the end of 1781 it took $16,800 to purchase a mere $100 worth of gold.
In the end the Congress never redeemed the bills and their part of the debt was not assumed by the new U.S. government. In six short years the Continentals became worthless.
Such is the danger of the government printing press. And such is the wisdom of holding gold in the face of the devalued dollar.
Sadly, what was true in 1775 is still true today-bankers love to print money.
The reasons for this are twofold. One is that central bankers believe that they can somehow "manage" the economy through the manipulation of interest rates.
The second is that the government printing press is necessary to monetize the escalating federal debt that politicians not only hunger for but thrive on.
We don't sell war bonds or raise taxes anymore. It's too restrictive you see.
Besides why bother when you've got tons of paper and the keys to the press
In short, it's a combination of hubris, greed, and blind ambition. As such it cannot end well.
Other countries see this. And they're buying gold. Tons of it.
But few American have gotten the picture. How could they?
After all, we don't remember the Continental and our modern nation has never suffered from inflation so severe that it destroyed the dollar. That's something that only happens to other countries.
Instead, we believe the bankers and the politicians. We see soft landings. We have lived our whole lives at the top of world heap.
How could tomorrow be any different?
But the truth is it could be very different. The rapid expansion of the money supply ensures it because when we devalue the currency by creating money out of thin air the result is inflation.
In 1781 it was $600 boots. Earlier it was $150 dollar oil and $500,000 houses. These outrageous prices maybe separated by 225 years of history but they rest upon the same premise.
Inflation is a monetary phenomenon. History proves it.
Since the creation of the Federal Reserve a pre-Fed dollar is now worth only 4 cents.
It's simple, inflating the money supply devalues the currency. Politicians and bankers know this but they can't help themselves. As such, the printing press is a dangerous tool and the only hedge against these characters is gold.
You see, the soaring gold price is not some anomaly. It's a world wide vote of no confidence. It's a vote against Fed and their dollars. It was the case in 1979 and 1980 and is the case today.
And as long as the world is restless with our increasing money supply, our trade deficits, our unfunded liabilities, and the complete inability of Congress to reign in government spending the price of gold will continue to rise.
Clearly, these problems won't end any time soon.
In fact helicopter Ben can hardly wait to do it again. That's why the dollar is taking it on the chin this week.
And while the dollar won't likely have the same fate as the Continental it won't be pretty.
It's called inflation and it's coming to a boot store near you in the years to come.
After all, digging out of this hole will come at a cost.
:), Whatever he claims is not worth $10.......I think he should go visit one to just see for himself whats inside, as far back as he can go, he might see his family portraits.
This is garbage bruce. These certs aren't worth the paper to wipe with. Matter of fact a role a Charmin would have more value. All that surrounds this guy is wrapped in manure. He will use this venue to get as much as he can for himself, a piggy bank till someone or some action stops him in his tracks. Odds would be better at a Casino, at any table.

I'll give a look. Have you contacted the transfer agent?. The entire problem is that its meaningless. Berman sells into every uptick. Both he and his MM is working against everyone, always have. If he can rake in just $300 a day in 20 days thats $6,000. about the cost of one of these gadgets, which he may have purchased to appease any SEC investigation. Without any doubt they know what this guy is about. Worthless uranium mines that he never intended to mine, if these were worth anything he would have dived in head first, same for all his other strategic schemes........http://www.mbesinc.com/ad2.html

When Cheney became eligible for the draft, during the Vietnam War, he applied for and received five draft deferments.[14][15] In 1989, The Washington Post writer George C. Wilson interviewed Cheney as the next Secretary of Defense; when asked about his deferments, Cheney reportedly said, "I had other priorities in the '60s than military service."[16] Cheney testified during his confirmation hearings in 1989 that he received deferments to finish a college career that lasted six years rather than four, owing to sub par academic performance and the need to work to pay for his education. Initially, he was not called up because the Selective Service System was only taking older men. When he became eligible for the draft, he applied for four deferments in sequence. He applied for his fifth exemption on January 19, 1966, when his wife was about 10 weeks pregnant. He was granted 3-A status, the "hardship" exemption, which excluded men with children or dependent parents. In January 1967, Cheney turned 26 and was no longer eligible for the draft.[17]
President George H. W. Bush nominated Cheney for the office of Secretary of Defense immediately after the US Senate failed to confirm John Tower for that position.[32] The senate confirmed Cheney by a vote of 92 to 0[32] and he served in that office from March 1989 to January 1993. He directed the United States invasion of Panama and Operation Desert Storm in the Middle East. In 1991 he was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by Bush.[21]
In February 2006, The National Journal reported that Libby had stated before a grand jury that his superiors, including Cheney, had authorized him to disclose classified information to the press regarding intelligence on Iraq's weapons .[83]
Yep! One of my brothers bought a completely refurbished home with 4 bedrooms, 2 large and 2 smaller, in a great location for $23,500 in the 70's, that same home would be a $100k more today, and wages haven't changed that dramatically. He had water pressure that could practically peel your skin off in the shower:), a small but very private high wooden fenced back yard............today this will buy a car, and with all they're putting in them, video counsels, dvd players, tv's you might think people are moving into them. Next the shower. People really need a Cadillac Escalade to go to work in huh?. I see these frequently with one person in them, in particular on the road heading in for work, and yes yapping on the cell phone. We must wear seat belts, its the law, but talking on the cell, watching tv, and eating breakfast from Mcdonalds all at the same time is just fine.
Yep!........He's a trend player, its been one big SCAM. If he could make money he sure wouldn't be on a """""""non disclosure"""""""" pinksheet, and his history is indicative that he has "no intent" of making money for the retail investor, but has all the intent of taking any money they invest for his personal gains, and if anyone remembers his very own words, "This is His Company", everyone else is just along for the ride. Ride?. A one way ride to losses, both monetarily, and in the cert holdings. Any moron with a pinksheet that would run a pinksheet into the billions of certs states it all, 10 billion at one time, as much as Microsoft, with 15 billion A/S. Not one pinksheet should ever have more than a 100k A/S, and never more than 50k Outstanding........The guy has proven himself to be a liar, and thief on more than one occassion. If he could make any money he wouldn't need to have this public, and if any money could be possibly made which is as remote as water in the Sarah Desert, it would be for him and the scoundrels who are associated with him...........The SEC should have had this guy in cuffs long ago.
Yep!!! just like the uranium, just like his entire crooked history, this is his new gig to get peoples money...............He's a Con!

Walmart today is probably the leading economic indicator for what money people have to spend or are willing finance. I have watched a couple programs on repossessions, one on the discovery, the other operation repo for cars, planes, cars, work vehicles, you name it. Repossession is nothing new, but the rate this occurring today is. Its become a billion dollar industry. The one I viewed on the Disovery Channel is the east coast mostly the Jersey area, operation repo is California, but this is going on 24/7 in every State. With all this going on the car makers still believe its reasonable to be selling vehicles from $20 to $40k, then there's insurance, gas and maintenance, etc etc...........guess there's a reason why so many are sitting on the lots...........and if one purchased a toyota for $25k+, and having problems or recall makes it even more bitter. If it wasn't escalating home prices, it was the vehicle. We see what this all brought about within the auto industry, and imo it will get yet worse. In general most people cannot really afford them, like so many could not afford the homes especially when the were purchased with a teaser rate........who wants to finance a car for 6 or 7 years?.........thats crazy. The car makers need to get on board with reality, it not necessary to have 10 to 20 computers telling the car what to do, thats what the operator is for.
From what I gather most have at least $6k+ in credit card debt. How many have really been able to save when a good percentage goes for taxes, taxed on money from payroll is just the beginning, then its taxed again an again, an again. That leaves about 50% left of earnings every week or two, depending on whether or not a person even has a job today?. If one has car repairs, home repairs, dental, medical, children, its a hill to climb. More like a mountain. If only peanuts counted.

American/Iraq 2nd War:
Was it for oil, control, Saddam, WMD or was it for this???????? ----for most of us it didn't make any sense,,,,,for most of us we thought it should have concluded with the arrest of Saddam during Desert Storm, and that it should have been resolved then and there,,,,,,,,,,,Storm'n Norman's choice!, so what was the real reason for heading back into Iraq instead of pursuing Bin Laden on his home front?.......If for no other reason than oil, this does make sense, there was no just cause to invade Iraq a second time. Iraq was no physical threat to the US.

Since WW2 and the only War justified to defend the country. Desert Storm if for no other reason to defend an ally, and war crimes against humanity, nature, and the ecological disasters.
All the other wars we brought to someone else's shores, "even here", and to a people who had done Europe no harm "ever", but it didn't matter they all wanted what another people possessed, in the name of the Queen. Sound familiar?
Today its for whoever, and whatever that services Wall Street, and allows Corporations, and Lobbyist to control a government, like Hedge Funds, as opposed to servicing with honor and integrity in their positions for the American people, a people they hardly recongnize, a voice seldom heard, a people they deem to be in their service instead.
Those ideas got lost a few decades ago, actually never existed but for just a short while, a government who will for first come to the rescue of non American people before its own. Very few of the politicians own serve in the military, and I highly doubt those who do acted on the advice of their political parents. They would rather them serve in the financial circles of Wall Street having attended an Ivy League College, and most do.

No.........Lieberman is one of a many poster child who has gorged himself on a whole lot more than taxpayers money throughout his career. The ones that remain in there for the long haul will live in luxury the rest of their lives without the worry of having to save for retirement, the taxpayers will fund it all. For the weekends they can spend their pocket change that will come from social security. He knows who is taking care of his health care plan.
He's on the mark regarding lots of issues, they weren't worth his life. He speaks for alot of Americans.................
ya know things have not changed much since this continent was conquered by Europe. Spain and its Queen wanted what wasn't theirs, the same for England, and the rest of the Europeans that followed. In a "true" Christian society, Catholic or Protestant none would have followed nor would have been commanded to murder, and plunder, but they all did, and killed millions to achieve it. They served the beckoning calls of the rich, the financiers who had the means to disrupt the societies of both South and North America, some to extinction. The founding fathers?........I believe this continent was already founded. I guess if this were an island with zero population, or unexplored territory where no one lived, then it could be said that a new land had been found, but there were already people living here for thousands of years, and the land and waters were as pristine as ever, and it was this those in power and those of greed wanted.
It was noted that when the early europeans came here, and viewed its beauty, and how truly lush it was that a squirrel could climb a tree in Conneticut, and never have to touch the ground till he got to Georgia if he wanted.
The Native Americans view Andrew Jackson as the first Hitler, and rightfully so. Hitler hated the US, but he truly loved the idea of how it came to be. He saw what he was trying to accomplish as no different...........The destruction of a race to make way for another...........and if he would have conquered in Russia having taken England first,,,,,,,, it wouldn't have been just the Jews, but anyone who wasn't German.
The War with the South and the North more than anything else was all about business, and it all surrounded cotton. How many died for those who wanted access to it?.........fields of blood for miles and miles. History books change every 10 years, but the real truths last forever............and the truth can always be found.
Like this Green Scheme most of America has heard about, over and over, and over, and overtime everyone begins to believe that our planet is melting.........or freezing, behind it are again those who want to make lots and lots of money, and this government will make it possible for them to do so, and no doubt at the cost of everyone else.
The only true President who tried to find a remedy for this countries ills was FDR, Truman finished what he couldn't, and Eisenhower warned against what we are witnessing today. Its a shame when those who know to do right, but then don't, but rather choose a path of evil, and destructiveness to adorn the rich, whose lap dogs they become, and then abuse the power they were entrusted with to serve them at the expense of its people............not much has changed in 500 years, many were led by the noses of a few to carry out their abominable acts, and today those who sit in Washington who number in the hundreds may bring about the destruction of the hundreds of millions they claim to serve.

"Skilling cannot get out on an early release". He can reduce his sentence by 1-1/2 if he completes his program for alcohol abuse, and good behavior. He hasn't done much of this time as is. If he gets out on some technicality they may as well open up the prison doors ("not") an release them all, including Kozloski, and Madoff, they all belong to the same club.
So this is where he goes to meet with this guy.:) I wonder if he saw any suicide bombers up there with the virgins they were promised?
Farrakhan spent most of the fiery nearly four-hour speech recounting a 1985 vision he had in Mexico. Farrakhan has often described how he believes he was invited aboard an unidentified flying object he calls "the wheel" where he said he heard the late Nation of Islam leader Elijah Muhammad speak to him.

More future graduates of Harvard no doubt where they teach the ways of unsrupulous business pratices, and the 1,000 ways around the law, or rather how to help institute law among our politicians that will serve them, and all their white collar crimes planned in back alley's.
:))) The thought is rather funny. She is making a killing for herself since she was given a world stage. One thing to think of though, alot of the honest qualities she may have once possessed, and how she viewed Alaska as a State belonging to its people, and the people of the State should benefit from first and foremost are desperately needed in government, from our smallest cities to the Beltway, but typically its the other way around.
