Attention all lawyers in the house! Trying to slog through the DCR decision now. My head is already spinning. Can't tell if it's good or not... 30 pages long. Looking for any feedback.
Well it's in folks! Memorandum on decision for final DCR distribution by judge lane!
Just in time for the Holidays!
Trying to read through it now. Whew, talk about squeaking it in just before the new year! Hope it's good news!
Merry Christmas to all!
Merry Christmas to all!
Another great year of support, DD, information and advice.
GLTA and a prosperous 2017!!
I have noticed that Ual and dal debt has risen though. They're at 11.5 and 7.5 bil now.
No? I thought it was at 29 bil earlier in the year? Maybe I'm hallucinating.
Am I the only one that has noticed that the debt has shrunk over the last couple of quarters ?
I know this sounds like a silly thing to say that it is down to just 23 billion. Ha ha and I know you're going to laugh at me for saying just 23 billion so I will take it on the chin in advance.
But That seems to be lower than it was six months ago, no?
Well, that is one way to look at it that's true.
The other way to look at it is that you have an amazing opportunity here to get in on the ground floor of a resurgence in an overlooked and left for dead investment. A resurgence that is caused by a prior, now defunct federal administration previously strangling entrepreneurship. This could be one of those rare golden occasions that comes around once-in-a-lifetime, and avid stock investors dream of it, and You have an opportunity here to be a part of it and make a tremendous profit.
I prefer to look at it that way. It sounds like you don't really believe in this as a positive opportunity.
I'm not arguing with you, the article does state some harsh realities. But they are realities that changed in the last 30 days, and are continuing to do so.
Yep, this is going to be a healthy travel season. They'll be printing cash.
I'm curious if there ever going to do anymore stock buybacks, or as I've made my wish abundantly clear; pay down the debt early.
My guess is no to either, they're just gonna play the long game and reduce the overall debt organically, which is what Doug said they were going to do.
I have no doubt that you are correct.
Believe me, I've put some cash behind that faith...
Perhaps a little overly pessimistic, but a definite reality check.
I would classify this as the most highly speculative/aggressive long-shot in my portfolio. It's a lotto ticket to be sure.
Nothing ventured.. nothing gained...
GLTY
Yep....and that's why it's 1.70, not 17.00
There's still plenty of uphill on this baby. Each new step is going to present new hurdles. But the overall prognosis has gotten better.
Operative word BETTER.
Yep, agreed. I just keep adding.
You really can't look at this through traditional glassses, this is a pure speculative play. There is no mine or revenue right now, this is about politics and permitting, which have all undergone a tectonic shift recently.
So load up people, and enjoy the ride.
I think of it as the closest I'll ever come to going to Alaska and panning for gold myself, which ain't gonna happen.
A little taste of the old days of strike it rich romanticism. With much better odds in the hands of professionals.
Glta
.... or Erin Brockovich is investigating us.
It's always something.
reference my earlier post about stomach churning retrenchments...

My guess is either party, or both, will request a rescheduling of the mediation until the new cabinet and administration is in place. It wouldn't really make sense for either party to engage in negotiations when it's clear the EPA is in flux, probably soon to be weaker frankly, and they both know it IMHO.
There is a small legitimate argument however that the EPA may make a Hail Mary last ditch attempt on behalf of the Obama administration to take a stand, something like the standing rock thing. But given the lack of Indian reservations nearby and the fact that this is state land earmarked for mining, that seems unlikely.
Otherwise, Total capitulation is probably the most likely outcome if they wait until spring.
And this will be $4 the instant that news leaks BTW.
JMHO
Sooooo frustrating!
What an odd-ball investment this is. I'm elated while at the same time frustrated. Unreal.
Excited to see 50+....
Outraged that we can't hold it!!...
Yes but they've agreed to extend (yet again) the retirees claim deadline. That will delay any payout until Summer at the least. This is a big one and must be resolved before the Judge will release funds.
Deadline extended until June 2017:
So Ordered Stipulation And Agreed Order Signed On 12/7/2016, With Respect To Further Extension Of Time To Object To Proofs Of Claim Filed By The Section 1114 Committee Of Retired Employees And Individual Retirees.
I've enjoyed reading your posts over the years I've been following this. Good luck to you.
I've been loading even more heavily, I've got a while before retirement :)
Hoping this gets permitted, then built, and I can retire with a holding in the largest mine in North America, operated safely and cleanly by mining professionals on American soil.
GLTA
... more like the Dunce of Des Moines.
Well, it works phoenetically...
(I'm not really in Iowa) ;)
I bought fluff at 36 and sold it at 39.
You tell me who's the wizard.
And that's why he's the Oracle.
Looks that way.
Booyah!!
Doug, if there's any, and I mean ANY remote chance, that you possibly read these chats occasionally to get the pulse of the common man... I implore you...
Mr. Parker.... Tear down this debt!
Sadly, Doug has been nothing if not firm in his assertions that that's not in the cards.
He has used words like "sustainable" and "manageable" more times than I care to remember in reference to it.
The best we can hope for is, as he promised, debt and Cap-ex will both begin to decline over the next several years.
That being said... if he DID reverse course... This would easily leap to nipping at UAL's heels overnight.
JMHO
I know what's going to happen....
You and I are going to tough this out to 49+
it hits 50 and we bail.
That night they announce exhaustion of buybacks and beginning of phase 2: debt pay down.
Next day it opens at 60 and I kill myself.
What they have to do is clear. Announce a plan for "accelerated" debt reduction, like United did 3 years ago.
Take advantage of the stability of our labor contracts, before the inevitable renegotiations and wage hikes several years from now, to hack away at the debt.
That would do it. Plain and simple.
Well, you can't entirely blame him. There's a lot of OG's here, who've been with this a while.
As rosy as things look now, post-Buffet, we've been through a lot, and I mean A LOT over the years. I personally never stopped seeing this as an investment, and one that's yielded 600% return btw, but I don't blame anyone for fatiguing.
He's earned the right to his opinion, even if I hope it's overly pessimistic. Trust me, this thing is capable of mind-numbing retractions. Hopefully those days are behind us.
GLTA
You are so much The Man.
Great DD!
These are my predictions;
they enter NEPA $4+
they get initial permits $6+
they add a partner $14+
they break ground $40+
Just my gut, let's all sit and watch!!
GLTA!!
Yep, agreed.
He's going to surprise a lot of people.. in a great way. Just watch.
Probably why Fallin is higher...
It appears that Governor Mary Fallin is also in the running. I've done some research and can't quite get a bead on where she stands. Seems like she would be good? Opinions?
I say a nightly prayer that it's Palin. If I wake up one morning and read that she's the pic, I'm gonna show up for my job with champagne on my breath
So I'm guessing from this article, we should be hoping he does not get the nod for the position.
But this stock is notorious for over-compensating.
Those who have had the courage to buy in those dips have made out handsomely.
Amen brother.
It's green light/red light. Love it! :)
There may be a lull going on in interest in airlines, that's true, but if they (management) would just announce a plan for the debt, we would at the very least take our rightful place in the PPS lead.
We've got share count, gross and net earnings, and scale all on our side here folks.
What the heck!!??
We and other developed nations have Commodities contract trading institutions in place to provide supply stability, liquidity and consistency to our manufacturing bases.
They attempt to simply flank that by getting together in a foreign capital, holding private meetings among nation-state leaders and openly collude to control pricing.
It's really ridiculous when you think about it.
Yeah, feels that way. Little spike in oil thanks to OPEC never helps.
Funny, DOJ can't go after THEM for collusion, can they?...
If ANY airline did crap like that, they'd be seized by the Feds in a full-on siege/raid with battering rams at their office doors and cameras blazing.
Probably. But even he doesn't take it lightly.
