Military Cancels Ted Nugent Performance Citing Violent Rhetoric About Obama
Getting the boot from Fort Knox is the latest wrinkle in a controversy that began last weekend at an NRA convention and led to a visit from the Secret Service.
Citing inflammatory language while expressing his displeasure with President Barack Obama, the military has uninvited rock star and conservative political activist Ted Nugent from performing at Fort Knox in Kentucky, according to the U.S. Army post's Facebook page.
"After learning of opening act Ted Nugent's recent public comments about the president of the United States, Fort Knox leadership decided to cancel his performance on the installation," it's Facebook posting says.
So far, the June 23 concert remains on the Fort Knox schedule, with REO Speedwagon and Styx listed as "co-headliners," but army personnel said they will grant requests for refunds in light of their decision to nix the opening act.
The cancellation is the latest wrinkle in a controversy that has engulfed Nugent since last weekend when, speaking at an NRA convention, the rocker said that he would be "dead or in jail" if Obama is reelected in November.
Also referring to Obama and Democratic candidates in general, he told the NRA faithful: "We need to ride into that battlefield and chop their heads off in November."
Use of the violent metaphors earned Nugent a visit from Secret Service agents on Thursday. He said Friday on his website that he had with them a "good, solid professional meeting concluding that I have never made any threats of violence toward anyone."
A spokesman for Fort Knox told TheBlaze.com that having Nugent perform "would be a conflict of interest since the military has the obligation to be apolitical."
Such a claim, though, seems dubious when it comes to choosing entertainers, who oftentimes show their partisanship. At its website, for example, Fort Knox is touting an appearance this month by comedian Jay Phillips who is supportive of Obama through his Twitter activities. And Ludacris has performed at U.S. Army bases even after the 2008 release of his pro-Obama song "Politics As Usual," which calls Hillary Clinton, who was running against Obama at the time, a "bitch" who is "irrelevant." The ultra-partisan song also called President George W. Bush "mentally handicapped" and says that Sen. John McCain "don't belong in any chair unless he's paralyzed."
Fort Knox personnel did not return calls or emails requesting clarification on their "obligation to be apolitical" in their entertainment selections.
Comments at the Fort Knox Facebook page have been running about 3-1 against the decision to boot Nugent from the concert.
"He is such a supporter of the troops. Such a shame that he was canceled for expressing his freedom of speech. This is America, if you have not forgot," one commenter wrote.
"I thought that freedom of speech was one of the very same things that our military fought for. When Obama said he was going to change the military, he did. He made them cowards. Shame on you Fort Knox," said another.
And on the flip side: "Anyone who threatens a U.S. president like that should not be allowed on a military installation. No matter which party he affiliates himself with. Good decision."

Well, my money says this decision was made in Washington and passed down to Fort Knox .. Panetta himself was probably involved.
Now that is so close to the truth .... it isn't even funnny! LOL
Well yes, yes we do!
Yeah, I did, and of course Miss K2 straightened my ass right out! LOL
Well thank you sir!
So the adminiatration is trying to turn any criticism against the Secret Service or the GSA ... into criticism against our military ... Nothing new there, as they try to spin everything. Obama would be very well served to come on out and say both of these events occurred on his watch, and he is going to take action to correct the causes. He needs to "own" something negative, and his doing so would quench the public thirst for blood in these incidents, and they both will go harmlessly away real soon if he would stand up and take responsibility.
But no, his ego won't allow it. The administration would rather try to make it seem as if Palin is wrong for criticizing the two events, and try to keep both alive and thriving because, of course, they just can't let a good crisis go to waste.
I can not believe the administration has selected Palin, however, since she isn't running for any office, as far as I know. So, they just randomly pick someone (yeah, randomly, sure) and gang up on her for her criticism (which by the way was spot on).
Another 'battle' in the left's "war on women' ....
I saw it some time ago ... I never was able to find out if it was real or not, back then, but here is what the decidedly left leaning "Snopes" has to say now:
http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/postamerican.asp
Seems the picture is real, but the book is not "Anti-American" - in Snopes' viewpoint anyway.
moxa1 -
Please, guide me to any 'evidence' you might know of, backing up your statement:
Why yes, it is isn't it!
And top o' the morning to you too sir!
Well sure!
And dang proud of it!
I have no idea actually ... about the married part.
Just trying to determine your 'line in the sand'.
Then, my friend, we are both crazy!
..................................
Sure correct about one thing .. "What do you do with him, when the media continues covering for him?"
Good article .. thanks!
Sure hit the spot, didn't it?
Just Ted being Ted ...
Yep, but that's what we need!
Now that's too close to the truth!
Now there you go, trying to start something! LOL
Hillary Clinton parties in Colombia: Photos of dancing, beer-slugging secretary of state cause stir

Over the weekend, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton cut loose during her trip to the Summit of the Americas in Colombia, partying at a local club early Sunday morning.
And while the outing may be fairly typical of visitors to Latin American countries, photos showing Clinton dancing and throwing back a bottle of beer proved too irresistible for the tabloid press.
According to the New York Post, Clinton arrived at Cartagena's Cafe Havana with a dozen female aides just after midnight.
"Clinton quickly proved she's just a regular gal when it comes to drinking," the Post reported. "She eschewed a glass and sucked down her Aguila pilsener cerveza straight from the bottle."
According to a local paper cited by TMZ, Clinton and her party "ordered a dozen beers, two glasses of whiskey and bottles of water."
TMZ dubbed her the " Secretary of PARTYING." Sadly, Clinton's impromptu soiree lasted just half an hour.
The photo (below) landed on the Post's front page. The headline: "SWILLARY."
"Front page picture of 'Swillary' Clinton is brutally unfair," Ari Fleischer, former White House press secretary under George W. Bush and current CNN analyst, wrote on Twitter. "She drank a beer at a summit meeting event. So what?"
London's Telegraph latched onto the photos, too. " Is Hillary Clinton becoming an embarrassment as Secretary of State?" the paper's Niles Gardner asked in a blog post.
"Hillary Clinton will be the inspiration for my return to salsa this week," Salon's Irin Carmon tweeted.

This is not the first time Hillary's drinking on a diplomatic trip has been fodder for the press. In 2006, the New York Times relayed a 2004 anecdote about a vodka-drinking contest between Clinton and Sen. John McCain:
Two summers ago, on a Congressional trip to Estonia, Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton astonished her traveling companions by suggesting that the group do what one does in the Baltics: hold a vodka-drinking contest.
Delighted, the leader of the delegation, Senator John McCain, quickly agreed. The after-dinner drinks went so well— memories are a bit hazy on who drank how much—that Mr. McCain, an Arizona Republican, later told people how unexpectedly engaging he found Mrs. Clinton to be. "One of the guys" was the way he described Mrs. Clinton, a New York Democrat, to some Republican colleagues.

===============================================================================
I am not trying to knock Hillary over this, because I have done the same thing when traveling. I paid for my own drinks though, out of my own pocket, and I imagine Hillary did as well.
Amazing how the media takes something like this and tries to make a big deal out of it.
Thought it funny the writer called the NY Post part of the "Tabloid press". Doubt he would have called the NY Slimes the same thing.
I did sort of raise my eyebrows at why Hillary needs a dozen female aides for the trip, though, even counting interpreters.
Oh my!
Do we even want to think about that?
Dang Walk - you should run for County Sheriff out there!
K2 - Agreed ..... they deserved 'the chair'. They're just fortunate this all happened in California.
Maybe you and I ... but certainly not K2 !
Hope things are going well for you.
K2 - The scary part is I remember all this crap happening .... I know you are too young to remember, but I do
I think she was actually elected to the position, not appointed. She was appointed in this specific incidence as Special Prosecutor.
But regardless of party, she most certainly could be harboring aspirations to 'move up in the world', and be willing to step on anybody in her way to achieving her 'rightfully earned stardom'.
Look at Newt, for a prime example of 'consorting with the enemy'. There are many other RINOs around too. I doubt they'd allow someone like Zimmerman to deter them.
GM K2 - this one has the markings of an orchestrated lynching.
I believe the prosecutor has political ambitions, and sees charging Zimmerman as the quickest route to realizing those ambitions. If Zimmerman is convicted, she gets a big feather in her hat for being such a staunch advocate for human rights. If Zimmerman is acquitted, she is still viewed as a champion for human rights.
DOJ, here she comes .... and if an innocent "White-Hispanic" is imprisoned along the way .. oh well, what does it matter?
She isn't concerned about Zimmerman's rights.
I submit, it is very possible that several of those being fed by the government would get a job and feed themselves if the government stopped feeding them.
And .. the DNC just hired her a bit ago, to 'soften' the democrats' presentation, as compared to Wsaserman-Schultz's 'hard core' messages.
ROFLMAO
The freaking democrats are so suicidal!
Per web site, they still have some in stock .... Some is runnning $360 per 1000, plus shipping, I am sure.
So if anyone else needs some, check J&G ...
Thanks TrinityZ1!
Exactly. Also can not believe the president involved himself in the manner in which he did. One would think he would consider his words a bit more carefully, and make a 'neutral' call in support of a full investigation and letting the justice system work as it is designed to do.
Sharpton and Jackson ..... what a pair.
Indeed - We've been in big trouble since about January 2009....
Of course, we buy Obama's gasoline, so what would he care?
Yep, it appears to be a political hatchet job ... and I'm sure he picked the one prosecutor with the most political ambitions to assign to the case.
But, hey, what is a lone "white" hispanic's life worth anyway, in the great scheme of politics?
And evidently, is/was a commanding officer who actually cares about his troops. An even bigger plus!
That would be justice!
Maybe then Holder would recognize it!
