I think the Visser connection is what's keeping a lot of us here. I hope what he's up to will benefit LM. Subtract him and we're a bunch of 2001 apes reaching out to the Apple monolith. DOD and everything else becomes a long shot.
If there was more "good stuff" to be had, there would be less room for "crap" in between.
I'll start. MMs- shadow figures operating in some other dimension that control our little equity's PPS. They dart in with 100k shares in either or both columns and disappear as quickly as they came. This thing squeezed down to such a narrow channel that bid and ask are essentially the same. There isn't profit in a low volume/volatility penny stock so what's up? Flat and no one's interested. I'm fine with the market waiting on news but it sometimes looks like manipulation for no reason. Any scenarios?
Golong & Jimmy are "loaded"- Watt's new? I enjoy the levity. Lately things are as boring as our CEO.
That great investor, Rodney King said it best: "Why can't we all just get long?"
The proper response to your comment will be promptly pulled by Red so I'll just tell you some of us are just trying to get to the truth and not win the ballgame. You don't give any weight to the possibility we're seeing different prototypes, some more mature than others.
Fitting.
Here is a nice video that, to my eye, seems to support a machined inner back surface. The comments are mostly hoping this is a prototype (too rough for their tastes.) The case is held at many different angles with constantly changing light reflections.
Yet another leak.
Article says probably no NFC
It has been widely reported that Apple’s (AAPL) next-generation iPhone will include near field communication capabilities, and a Chinese blog on Monday published the first images that showed the alleged NFC chip integrated into the phone’s internal components. After an in-depth analysis, however, AnandTech has concluded that NFC in the next iPhone is “highly unlikely” and “can almost entirely” be ruled out. “Given the primarily metal backside of the new iPhone, it’s highly unlikely that NFC is in the cards for this generation,” Brian Klug and Anand Lal Shimp wrote. “In fact, given the very little space at top and bottom dedicated to those glass RF windows, you can almost entirely rule it out.”
(Also- notice the fingerprints.)
A light-hearted comment and I don't think I changed the meaning.
Damn it's hard walking on eggshells.
Another reason this product might be slow to get to market.
You're making a good guess (as you always do) but citing MacBook Pro articles doesn't convince me. Yes, I've held machined parts and seen patterns made by the light but that's not what I see in a single photo. Of course I can be fooled.
More importantly, if the new iPhone has an LM back you're wrong (hard to machine) but celebrating with me. If it has an aluminum back then neither of us cares anymore. A third possiblility is a "glue surface" cast into an LM back. We'll both take that!
Keep in my I'm not on "a famous poster's" Sunday Elite(ist) List, so just click "Next" when you see a post by me. Your DD is way too valuable elsewhere.
I guess we'll never agree on this. Both pictures have what I think is a separate layer with ridges used for insulation, shock protection, cooling... who knows. One might be an earlier prototype as the material in the bottom photo looks like rubber or neoprene and the top photo a clear gel of same design. I would be surprised if the ridges are actually machining as the inside of every Apple product I've seen is as finished as the outside.
I try to avoid Wiki and sometimes shouldn't. Thanks.
General question for anyone. I have L2 hooked up in Schwab. Golong and others have made reference to "market makers." I've seen the definitions on the web but I'm trying to get a grasp on why they exist and why our little company gets their occasional attention. Any thoughts or a good link? Thanks!
Dog days...
An antenna is one part of a tuned circuit. I don't think the body would be a reliable antenna (OK for desert island SOS applications though.)
LM could be used in the housing for wear with an integral conductive steel tab. Apple would perhaps be needlessly complicating the design in throwing us that bone.
Great answer!
One year ago, touting "brand new 55,000 sqft facility that creates one of the most comfortable and impressive shops in the country" gets my interest. What became of the job(s), facility over the twelve months since?
Thoughts on Tom Steipp.
Abundant complaints here. I don't fully understand it. Lights still on, strong partners (anyone unhappy with Barnie?) progress (albeit not at the pace desired,) damn good buzz out there, PPS holding, hires that seem to track product development and, oh yes... Apple.
John Kang = Richard Nixon. "I am not a crook."
Tom Steipp = Gerald Ford. Job 1: Healing. Might've played a few football games with his helmet off but, all in all, the right guy at the right time.
Message: Don't worry, be happy. Next guy might be a peanut farmer.
.34 tomorrow?
They can repeat what is on the website and tell facts this tiny group already knows to a fresh audience. Again, it can't hurt.
Sounds as if Steipp is damned if he do and damned if he don't on this board. To my mind it can't hurt.

Actually, your link was not so ridiculous. This showed up in my mailbox this morning:

So, is this CE?

Strange to me that Barney Visser, retired from a hugely successful enterprise, enjoying the NASCAR circuit, enjoying time with family, at age 63 decided to move into a risky venture in risky times. I'm sure Liquidmetal intrigues him but is Visser pulling the strings or is someone from FR Corporate (Wells, Whitney, Tremblay, Faulkner...) or FR Racing doing the business plan?
Ignoring the irrational component is a big mistake if you're planning your LQMT investment over the next month. It unfortunately overshadows any DD done here related to Apple's Sept. release.
That all sounds like a good problem to have.
LQMT/AAPL will do nothing for the DOD products. It will do everything for non-DOD/CE fields. It'll give a good hard spike to PPS that will settle at higher levels. Sales will get very busy handling inquiries. I was once involved in a syndication for radio stations. The product was going nowhere until we gave it, free of charge to the (at the time) #1 country station. It was all very profitable from that point on. I see that happening here.
Did you forget to say it's hard to grow anything right now and our best shot at greatness, DOD is looking at a "fiscal cliff?"
Relief might be 11/6/12.
Not only is it a great product, it is a great brand name. Even if it was only a minor improvement over existing science (not the case here,) Liquidmetal would make money. I'm sure Apple's sales and marketing people have spent a ton of time and money on it already. How many iPhone (X) buyers will have seen the three glass cylinders video when they make their purchase? They will only know that Apple told them they need Liquidmetal.
When other manufacturers witness (drumroll) The New Liquidmetal iPhone rollout, it will all begin.
Patience.
