I used to frown on the concept of AI, but when considering the accelerated dumbing-down of our society (evidenced by the recent election), I'm not altogether sure we wouldn't be better off in having cold calculating machines do our thinking for us...we (collectively) don't seem to be capable of rational thought anymore, which is a damn shame ;(
Still on the green side of the sod...thx for minding the store Buddy ;)

It's not likely I'll ever see that part of the world, but you never know.
Here's to hoping our-day is fast-approaching w/ QMC, its been a long time comin'.
Hi Hal (& QLeap)...
I recall your concerns on that & had some of the same thoughts. Considering all that's at stake & the sharp competition in this limited sector, I don't know that keeping things under wraps would protect against the (seemingly) inevitable legal contests to come, indefinitely...they're going to have to pull back the curtain sooner or later anyway. But, like all other hi-tech companies, stealth does help to keep the dogs off while under development & trade secrets may extend that...to one degree or another. Besides lawsuits, collaborations could conceivably be another tool to settle (fine-line) territorial disputes in the event of overlaps in IP coverage between companies. As far as QMCs' tolerance to legal intimidation is concerned, I've got a hunch they'd say 'bring-it-on'....SS took-on the most intimidating entity of them all, the IRS, and not only 'Won', but set new legal precedence regarding IRS over-reach tactics ;)
Still on the green side of the sod here...thanx for asking. Hope all is well in your world ;)
Hmmm....I see why Nanocos' SP tanked after that dismal webcast...sounded more like the tone & outlook I'd expect to hear from a mortician. As-in;...the terminally ill are roaming the streets & we're excited about prospering once they eventually kill each other off, in the meantime, we're happy here just piddling around & counting sheep.

Not sure how all this comes together because, according to prior declarations, Samsung licensed their QDot tech from Nanosys (& presumably[?] passed that on to Hansol). I don't know if Samsung added or substituted anything else to the mix to make it Cd-free or not, but at one point, the Nanosys website stated they make Cd-free QDots...other than the 1/2-&-1/2 declaration, I wasn't able to find that same clause when I looked again today. Maybe Nanosys has more than one line of product formulations, which might help to explain things. As you say, OEM's are always looking for the next-greatest product, so maybe[?] the prior iteration had its limitations or they just want something better. In any case, I wouldn't be any-too-sure about counting Nanosys out...to my knowledge, they are still the #1 independent QD supplier in the marketplace & as far as I can tell, still command credibility from OEM's. That's not to say there isn't room at the top for others (like us), or that they are technologically immortal, just that they do deserve a measure of credit & shouldn't be underestimated. Unlike QDVision, I haven't really seen anything about Nanosys lately that would indicate they are in peril or in dire straights...no moreso than any other fledgling tech company anyway.
I believe that quote was from the Nanoco CEO, not (the similar-named) Nanosys:

JB...that's not entirely accurate.
Nanosys says they have a half-&-half Cd / non-Cd ROHS compliant mixture in-the-works. QDVision on the other hand, is still entirely Cd-based...& per some rumors, is paying the price with their Taiwan facility closure & possible BK in-the-works. I-hear-that ;)
Not necessarily...corporate suits generally take a long time to play-out & no adjudications have been made in that case so far, per my knowledge. My guess is the cadmium issue...last I heard, QDV had all their bets hedged on CdQD's, not Cd-free. But, who knows, could be any one of a number of reasons. The important thing (possibly[?] for QMC) is the fact that an opening has now apparently been created for a new supplier in that arena.-------Good-find SX
