Do you use Windows Defender on Microsoft 7?

If your computer is running Windows 7, Windows Vista, or Windows XP, Windows Defender only removes spyware.

I'm not sure if the above statement is correct.

I'm finding that Windows Defender is built into Windows 8 and is a replacement for Microsoft Security Essentials.

Again, not sure if this is correct. Just what Mr. Google is telling me.
