Cripes - your VCRs seem a tad more advanced than ours. Heck they are like "aisle" fillers here. The latest craze are the DVD recorders esp with Harddrives.
My story (sad as it is).. I have probably 50+ VCR tapes without labels and never ever can I find anything. Now with the ATI, it records and it says "Sexica's Sin Sity (Dec 13)" for the show. So I am never "blind" to what is there.
My theory with the DVD recorder (should be easy?) - they should serialize all the DVD's recorded (I assume every blasted one has a unique id anyways - like NICS). Then internally it should always have a catalog. You then pick "this program" and it says "insert disk #". Perhaps a USB port - hook up to your PC and you can manipulate the catalog better etc.
Anyways, the PVRs I think are next up. Again, unless someone here knows more than me.. (lurkers??) - we don't really have an easy way of recording from satellite or digital cable - unless we use the old school video cable routes.
My brother has the PVR - he apparently can copy from it to a VCR or whatever. (though he tends to live in another world sometimes).
I want to download movies et all and then watch them on a TV instead of the computer -- enter that other unit that plays DIVX (though it is not DIVX certified). They have already started selling DIVX DVD players for the home.
Lot of stuff to mull - my initial thoughts were burning DVDs of home movies and real movies etc. But you can only get 2HRS on them (one movie). At least with a DIVX DVD player - you can have a bunch. But again, I hate pissing time with discs when I can just load it on a PC and then play from that. Talking HUNDREDS of gigs versus a measly 4GB.
Further our government is controlling our heads like puppets. All programs get a grant from the government (CANADIAN CONTENT). Basic cable - is regulated - and we are forced to pay for Weather; national news and kid shows. (So we basically DOUBLE pay - pay for the kid shows to be aired on cable - which are given money from the government - which we pay taxes to).
Anyways, I may be watching BBC programs and west coast news within a couple of weeks - and a PVR by year's end I think. Will let you know. The only downside - my brother has gone through 3 PVRs - problems here and there (the FAQ on the cable site mentions "cycling" and "reboots" -- shit my phone did that all the time until I got the BIOS updated).
Thanks for the info. I will review that. I am still "nah" on the transmitter stuff. Unless they have come a long way baby, that last thing I want is to see are lines all over the place when the microwave; portable phone or blender go off.
Anyahoo.. come on guys.. lets reboot this market...
Blake!
Side point. The cable/satellite guys have digital offerings - but you must go through hoops to record the programs.
Both offer PVR units - with built in harddrives though.
To "record" programs off the digital cable or satellite you need an input into the recorder - so the recorder sits on channel 3 or VIDEO IN - but you can't get the recorder to change the channel on the boxes. Pain in the ass. An ex-pal of mine had many times (he says once or twice but he was full of shit most of the time) recorded on the VCR but forgot to put the digital box in "watch" mode and/or did that and forgot to tune or turn on the VCR to record.
To me that is a huge problem. If I could add an in-line digital product and then the TV can tune up to whatever station (or VCR) then the problem is solved. But they do not do that (that I know of).
I remember buying a TV in 1990 - Dad said - make sure they go up past 100. Well they are up to about 85 or something (with holes in the middle) - but all the rest of the channels are on the digital box - so the TV is useless.
Anything to solve this in your bag of tricks Louis?
Also - where and what is this cheapo transmitter?
The remote extender - you put a box in front of the box - then you take the otherside to your TV (upstairs) then you use the remote in the bedroom - click towards the TV -- signal is sent "RF" to the box downstairs and that sends the signals to the PVR.
Your version "appears" to send "TV" signal through the house - but doesn't account for the RF side. Sounds like crappy reception to me... where is this $50 cheapo transmitter.
Enquiring minds...
Nice turn around in the market -- not great, but not as bad..
blake
My ATI supports dual monitors. But not DVI. ATI 9800 AIW was done BEFORE the ATI 9600 AIW (go figure). So 9600 AIW added FM tuner and other differences.
My system has 2GB RAM - for $400CDN at the time - cost more to think about it than doing it. And I hate having to dick with that stuff a year later. Hanging systems - something not right. Forget it.
Maxtrox - they were up there in 1999 but now - sure they have 4xmonitor cards - but I can barely afford one monitor. The absolute best option was the AIW - I record the shows (business etc) and can play them back at another time. Now my next trick is to buy http://prismiq.com. A media server - so I could record via the ATI then watch it on the TV anywhere in the house (along with a bit of wiring and remote extender). ATI has "almost" perfected the AIWs. This is my second - they just have missed on a few points.
Asus - yes, after a Shuttle motherboard, I bot 2 ASUS MB (P3B-F was last I think). But again when you dream up what you want, then slot yourself into a CPU cost - assuming the speed is what you want - the number of boards you can get narrow quite a bit. Very daunting task to say the least.
But I definitely prefer the route of building my gear then going to a guy who will build it versus the premade stuff.
My last system didn't come with any HDDs because I had them already via Costco. Maxtor was the choice not so much on the drive quality (can't say how good any of them are if they are all 1 year warranty). Maxtor - yeah a few bum ones but at least they will SHIP YOU a REPLACEMENT and give you 30 days to ship back the bad one - and within Canada. Not sure about WDC (though I would probably buy them over Maxtor next) for quality - but they had no depot in Canada. The advanced replacement on the drives is a must. Imagine moving 120GB to "other" drives in your system. Forget it.
I am less interested in "future" with the computer stuff and more into the "now". You go crazy - mentally and financially worrying about "the future". Especially when you get diddly on the warranties.
So when I can make a buck in this "investing stuff", and can buy everything my wife needs today, I can then spend money and buy 4 monitors for my computer then review the offerings out there. Matrox was a good card - Matrox Mill. G400DH MAX with 32MB RAM I believe. Now the ATI has 128MB. Almost "perfect" with Halo.. almost.. But I chose the ATI to watch/record TV and rip from VIDEO tapes etc. Haven't done it yet enough - but it does work. Then run it through a DIVX converter.
BTW: What are the DVD offerings (MEDIA) in your neck of the woods? Mainstream 4X -- cost for 8X etc? (CDN dollars converted of course).. <VBG>
Master Chief..
Blake
So you're gonna buy a compter....
This last go followed the steps:
(A) CPU Price #1 (ballpark)
(B) Motherboard specs
(C) Case (relied on B)
A) My case this go around was central to my purchase - noise is a one problem - cooling is a second. No idea on what you plan on using your system for, but your drives are "old school". The new ones are all 7200 160GB and north of that. I have about 1x120GB at 5400 and 6x120 at 7200. This unit has 3x120GB plus a legacy 60GB 7200.
THe problem with the old case I had was - an 80mm intake fan was at the bottom - the drives were higher in the middle. Useless.
The Antec P160 case I bought - not only beautiful (which is not why I bot it) but had room for 2x120mm fans. One at the back - to suck out. I was going to add (haven't but still toying with it) a similar fan in front for intake - the air goes RIGHT OVER the drives. You can buy fans with "temperature sensors" which turn on or go faster when the system gets hotter. The case comes with firewire; usb and audio ports in the FRONT/TOP.
120mm fans are QUIETER and move MORE AIR than the crappy 80mm fans. WIth this case it comes with an intake filter plus you SLIDE the drives in from the side versus from inside.
I also use ROUND cables instead of flat - more air circulation. Water cooling? Enough headaches with the car - except when you leak in the car nothing goes wrong - in the puter? ??
http://www.bigfootcomputers.com
They have a good selection of stuff - I saw fans I liked but they are not there now - can't remember their names (can "think" harder if interested).
The headset plugged into the front (which automatically turns off the sound from the back) is worth the price of admission alone. I was sick and tired of dicking with the back leads.
B) My motherboard was an Asus P4P800DX - part of that reasoning was - when I bot end of Dec 2003 - not many had FIREWARE/USB ON THE MOTHERBOARD. You see most didn't have firewire; and if they did, they all only had firewire at the BACK (on the bloody floor). This one had it as pin outs (a 2nd firewire and #7/#8) USB too. So the CASE plugged into those - voila - USB/FIREWIRE at the front. Now I have my DV camera with a short cable I plug in when I need it. If I had a game controller - likewise it plugs into the front.
No point on dwelling on this MB (unless you ask) but I never got a sound card - uses the one built it - I am sort of sorry about that since there are design problems with the sound they provide - yes it works but poorly designed.
C) 64 bit.. I was toying with that but at the time XP 64bit I don't think was out; not even sure about now the pros and cons. it isn't mainstream so I say "what is the point for the premium?". I have read the AMD was better. I think the 64BIT stuff still runs the 32BIT but "faster"? Part of me thinks until they are ALL 64BIT, you are paying for the number "64" than any performance gains you will get. But I haven't read anything since December so I am no authority..
If interested.. (to read and change your mind 1000 times)
http://www.Anandtech.com
and
http://www.SharkeyExtreme.com
Sharkey actually had buying guides - not to follow but just to "see". They talk about problems with motherboards (trying to install the AGP Video card is tight on this one...)
D) Mainstream DVD media in these parts (and I am talking 50 DVD's for $38CDN at SAMS Club - is ONLY 4X. Not 8x; 12x or 16x and not dual layered. Most stores still sell this 4X shit media for over $1/disc. Haven't seen anything faster.
Yes I toyed with all that stuff.. I figure I will wait a couple of months and get whatever I can at Costco -- easy to return within a year plus should be pretty cheap -- 8X single layer is enough for me (a $40 4X dvd writer would be better but..)
If the stock market is a giant ponzi scheme, the CD/DVD market is the creme de la creme of scams.
I had a Samsung COMBO DVD ROM; CD-WRITER .. yes it is ok now but the computer store I got my machine said there are a lot of problem with "SAMSUNG COMBOS" or "COMBOS" (can't remember which). Although I would expect things are far better today, I think ALL optical devices (CD PLAYER; DVD Player; Computer CD/DVD gear) are shit. You can burn a CD and then read it back and find it fails all over the place. I now use a program called "Beyond Compare" from http://www.scootersoftware.com to always do a byte-to-byte comparison. Safe than sorry. I may have a few hundred CDs but at least I tested once burned. Also I have added PAR2 for "just in case of an emergency".
E) My video is ATI 9600 All-In-StillWonderhowitworksfromATI 128MB. So I can watch/record TV or listen to the radio with the FM tuner.
F) I have partitioned my C drive with exactly 30GB. I use about 10GB. THe rest is another "logical" drive. Why? So I can use NORTON GHOST to backup the entire C drive -- you can't specify directories with Ghost - but you can choose LOGICAL drives. All my apps go on C; data elsewhere. Doing this ensures that everything is "C" based for fast recovery. I use to have some things on C and D but then when you try to restore, there was a mismatch. I am suppose to ghost monthly.. makes about 6GB backups.
I am a HUGE fan of DISK TO DISK cross over backups. ie I backup specific "D" data to physical drive on "Q". Also to another SERVER. I use "rar" (dos version of WINRAR) to perform my nighly backups. Simple text filelist and boom.. Never bother with "entire computer" backups. How would it fit? You gonna pay $20CDN for a high capacity 9GB DVD? Assuming you are 50% full and can compress up to 80% - (big assumption) - that is still 16GB to offload. As soon as you have a movie or MP3 - forget it.
I had problems on C... I had a ghost bootup on my CD - booted my CD and was able to recover my whole C in about 10-15 minutes. The whole process from "first problem"; trying to solve and to "back 100% working" (except any differences between last backup) was probably about 2hours max (versus MANY HOURS to DAYS).
EDIT; I had a copy of the ghost app on my CD but the ghost image was on another DRIVE - you can also (haven't tried) setup recovery from a network.
Anyways -- you have to ELIMINATE what you don't need or care for. To me I HAD to have firewire and WANTED it at the front. I wanted a case with great circulation/cooling. When I looked at these points the offerings narrowed quite considerably. I have had ZERO regrets with this system (save the sound - but the theory there was - I could always add an Audigy from Costco - price will be cheaper etc) - but to this date I have lived with it.
EDIT: Very quiet - the sensors in the computer - I have a an LED on the front showing "50/32" degrees Celsius - when I play HALO 50 turns north to about 58. So I do want to add the 120mm intake fan.
I have come to realize, esp as I have gotten older, that computers are shit - like most stocks - like cars - but depreciate far faster. Like within a day after I placed the order on my P3-500 - something new was out and available - a day late!! That was a funny time.. I ordered a MATROX video card and MAXTOR harddrive. Talk about anagrams.
(well I suppose Stocks do depreciate the fastest.. but .. quick and the dead).
Cheers!

I noticed they now "re-link" all old threads. I guess they did the most obvious things last. Good anyways.

Q: Definition of weekly data.
Can't seem to see this on the site.
Ran into a problem with L.TO
Volume reports as "850868".
When I go to Yahoo!
and add up the volume for the week I get "821700".
I will assume this is a normal problem (where sites do not match).
Anyways my questions follow on two points. Want to start by saying I am not questioning any methods - just want to know how the data is made up.
Q1: Is a week defined as "5 week days" or "5 trading days"?
ie if Monday is closed - and it is Friday today, is the week made up of data based on "Friday (last week) to Friday" or is it still "Monday to Friday" - and in this latter case, the volume would naturally be lower since there was a holiday.
(my gut is that it is always "5 week days". If monday is closed - so be it - that week is considered "Tuesday-Friday")
Q2: What is a WEEK based on? Does it show a week based on the current day + back 4 days?
ie If I look at Friday, it would include for the week everything from Monday - Friday.
ie If I look at Tuesday, it would include the for week everything from Wednesday (last week) to Tuesday this week.
I have heard some sites (Stockcharts?) seem to always gravitate to a Friday as a week. So that if I do a weekly chart on Monday - the volume would be very little because the week is only "one day" so far.
I suppose the "friday closes the week always" is easier to do - but that a 5 day rotation shouldn't add too much work - except the only thing that might be a problem is that every day the chart would look different (from the previous day) - and that might confuse people.
(I suppose I can find out Monday night - but the suspense is killing me softly...)
(all times for each "day" is considered around 6pm - so assume the day has been closed and data updated)
TIA!

Short Films: "Good to be in DC" and "This Land"

HA! What's your name? Shrek.. Shrek!!!!..
thought the blow-off happened just before the Republican primaries!!!
You mean before August 2000???
Or are you referring to the convention?

Sexy Coal? Yes please..
On coal I only know big ones and I think it's too late for now... then again maybe we don't pullback in energy... but I doubt it..

Your shorthand obviously is superior to mine.. either that or I have no idea on what the major points were.. but I agree with all what you said.

HA! Funny, I actually am in the middle of an 180degree flip on Kerry.
Initially I thought Bush didn't have a chance - and that even though the VP is never a factor, thought Edwards wasn't as strong as Cheney in their debate.
But low and behold, I give you tidings of great joy. I gather the overall impression (major news stations) is that Kerry wasn't good enough to really change people's minds to vote for him. And that Bush didn't do that bad of a job.
Though the first was on foreign policy and Iraq etc.
Town Hall version tonight.. The Blurb
Anyways, issues don't matter to most American's I am sure.. there are more important things to worry about..
On Jay Leno Wednesday night - he had "Point, what's your point". - two college kids... girl and guy.. first is the guy..
>> Personally, I don't like kerry.
>> Jay: What don't you like?
>> First off, his face is just weird. And he looks like a horse kind of. And then his daughters aren't very cute. The first daughters are hot, though.
>> Jay: Nice of you to say, though.
>> They're not as hot as the bush daughters.
>> Jay: You feel that's important?
>> Yeah.
>> Jay: What do you feel senator kerry's strengths and weaknesses are? (to the girl)
>> I heard they gets manicures or something. That he's metrosexual.
>> Jay: What does that mean?
>> It's like straight men, but they get manicures and pedicures.
>> Jay: Is that bad?
>> No, I think every man should do that.
>> Jay: You're for it?
>> Yes, that's a strength.

Though the industry on the whole may be affected - with these two it was bad news for their COX-2 drugs.. pain medication seems to be causing heart attacks..
Withdrawal of Competitor's Pain Medicine Is Mixed Blessing for Pfizer
NEW YORK (AP) -- Pfizer Inc. looked like the big winner at first after Merck & Co. announced last week that its pain reliever Vioxx was being pulled from the market because of increased risks for heart attack and strokes.
Prescriptions for Pfizer's competing products, Celebrex and Bextra, initially surged, according to one report, and analysts were predicting increased sales.
But now the outlook seems less clear after European regulators said they were launching a safety investigation into the entire class of drugs that includes Vioxx, Bextra and Celebrex. Then an editorial in the New England Journal of Medicine raised questions about the safety of the drugs known as COX-2 inhibitors.
Anyways, watching PFE..
Well I saw that - but the speaker was alluding to disclosure of holdings more than the actual NAV. As you know some mutual fund companies do offer this - but I think are regulated for quarterly only?
But as I review their site...
Granted, if they were speaking of the NAV I suppose, in hindsight, that it was a comment that it was "good that they are not providing that."
Question then - have they ever said what they are investing in? I read the 3rd quarter and the "investments" is all they say.
How do we know they haven't deviated from "mining" into say, the harvesting of fly poop?
(Gasp I am wrong? .....)
Un-Sexensteined
HA! Not bad.. how about my son's version of a person...
Like the hands and feet?
That was done last year (5 years old.. in SK he is 6 in a week).
He did a gingerbread man - talk about van Gogh style of out there.
Tomorrow is his first field trip for grade 1 - and they didn't want any volunteers to go. (DARN!). Oh well.. they want help in the classroom - considering perhaps a few times of that this year.

On EDV...
(Jeez I can't even remember all the points - and I asked the Coffin Bros. about them too!)
(Kastelco did you hear this from them or not? If not - must of been from Roulston)
Anyways some talking points -
- Seemed to have not done much lately (haven't increased their holdings)
- NAV is below the stock price;
- a question about their portfolio updates -- I think it was said that "EDV" will be moving to report (perhaps with more detail) monthly than what they are currently (quarterly).
FWIW

Few things...
Kastelco et al - what are some good metallurgical coal producers? (explorers.. juniors.. Jacques Cousteau's)
Elsewhere.. see the drug companies getting slammed?
Seeing as it is way off it's channel (40-50) and base (45) - I wonder how long it might take to get back..
Signed Howard Stern - the digital stuff avoids FCC regulation (but don't tell that to the coneheads in Canada) - anyways what is funny is the recent rise because of this. Yet he won't start until January 2006 (!!)

No -- but what about NGX??
Just my luck starting to move and I am only partially loaded.
But impressive increase over past couple of weeks.
BTW: "T"??? Where is your stickman? You from "T DOT" or something?

EDIT: Yeah, I did see Laurence at the show - he loved HD and had a glowing opinion of Taseko (I doubt I will ever be able to spell that without going to their site). ARQ - said it is taking a while to get there.. thought it was good but nothing like a table pounding FP style BUY.
He was ok - little more subdued than I like.
Regardless I added more this week.. (hearing comments about HD - and people asking about HD and your comments -- that is what I really liked to hear).
FWIW

SORRY EDIT: For Taseko he stated they had already started the mine up - "stuff was happening" before being announced. (Don't have my notes here). That the MOLY they have is worth about $16/LB even though the street is like $4?
Something on GBN. Overall to recap - the basic theme was that he really liked HD - nothing negative on their companies. I can review tonight and add anything else missed.
ARQ: Look down below....
Yes that is me sucking some of that up.. 179-182...

Hey Kastelco - Zolt and Kirby49..
One of my highlights during Sunday's Resource Show... was meeting someone who looked a little like this..
Hi-Fye's Agent - The Colonel
Well it was a good show overall.. shoulda gone earlier.. put some faces to posters and even met a few from other "parts unknown"..
Cheers all!

Hi-Fye... yeah that is me!!! Chuckle!
Funny headline: BakBone Alligns With Sun on New NAS Offering
Now I QUICKLY see that as:
Bakbone (aligns with Sun whatever that means) on New Nas Offering
So I see that as "Bakbone = New Nasdaq Listing". HA! NAS is a Sun product though.. funny he he .. not funny ha ha..
Anyways.. added some ARQ at 1.85 range..

Thanks!
I was doing spots of that in the 90s - find a promoter who can move a stock and see what others are in his fold. Aka Robert Friedland.. (though I wasn't that proficient at it - and nowadays with the net it makes things easier finding "connections")
I prefer this method instead of the "Voisey's Bay" - "So Diamond Fields Resources found something so why not someone else?" method.
Both can work - but a smart promoter, in my experience, isn't just throwing darts..
Enjoy your weekend all. I decided to go to the conference this Sunday - I think someone will be taking pics.. better wear my tidy whities..
Blaketta...
Yes I know.. hence the "bag of tricks" comment directed at yourself.
The bad ARQ trades were part of the evil Blake coming back..
But will look to add to that and looking for some more NGX too..
Plenty out there.. just gotta dig.. and the lack of liquidity on LCC - yes true..
Interesting swings this week..
KC.. a nice spinning top huh?
Request re-entry Houston...???

Lovely picture.. that was me alright.. except I fell hard on the sand with no one there to watch... instead of into the water with a bounty of beautiful women..

Duh. Something went wrong and blah blah blah my fault - but somehow I had a market order for ARQ that was kept over night (gotta be one of those blasted checkmarks on the TD order screen).

Such a small position of ARQ almost not worth it - oh well I can always buy it at $3.50 tomorrow once it takes off right

Well being with TD they flood you with accounts.
Myself - CDN+US (Margin w/Options) - legacy pair of non-margin CDN+US
Myself - Dormant non-margin CDN+US
Wife - CDN+US (margin w/options) plus CDN+US (Short account)
All - Single RSP and RESP (at least we are not forced to have a separate "spousal abuse" account.
Yes count 'em - thats Lucky Strike 13 accounts!!
It is brutal - and there is no where to turn them off - they say legally blah blah blah. And watchout -- you go to New Issues and accidently place interest using the wrong account - you lose.
How does Royal structure the accounts and login?
Some of my earliest posts here (sniffle) were on options. Dead mans game.. stick to QQQ DIA or SPDR as insurance. At least the PM junk has some hope of coming back where as options are gone forever.
Apparently the best options site here is E*TRADE Canada (a guest on ROBTV who knows something about them helped develop their site - I think I might have posted that previously too).
TD is weak. You go looking for COREL OCT $5 PUTS and they are not in the system - takes a day or two to add them. So you have to go through an options specialist (but of course at Webbroker discount prices). Hence - stick to the very liquid stuff. (and if you start looking at the Yahoo! site or a newspaper - better quickly evaluate you can actually place those specific symbols/strike etc - otherwise you will become depressed quickly after finding what might be a good one..)
Royal Bank is a SH*THOLE. I have a Gold Visa card with them - and line of credit but that is all I will give them. They wouldn't match my mortgage rate and so I pulled my entire RSP account. Biggest nickle and dimers on planet earth. The tellers are the most obnoxious L0ZERS I have met. Years ago I had like 3 accounts - when $$ was tight - and they would say "you know you are not making any interest in that account" and I would reply "yeah, but I ain't being dinged $0.50cents a withdrawl since I spread them across the accounts".
Last time I went - they have that form that says you haven't used the account in "2 or 5" years and you have to either do activity and/or sign a form. So I sign - take it in. I tell her I would like a photocopy. You should have seen her expression - like I told her there is a shovel - dig a Cool Hand Luke hole. I swear I was this close for a remark but I kept my composure - "what proof do I have?" is all I said. I posted that experience here too. ASSH*LES.
By irony is ironic sometime. TD Bank (my home) offers a slew of credit cards - yet with NO medical insurance for trips. To me a Gold card at a minimum should have that. One fee - never have to "question" whether we should get it for this trip etc.
Sad that the TD Bank + Wal-Mart tie ended - I really enjoyed going to Wal-Mart - buying my stuff; getting a BigMac and depositing my check. Now the only satisfaction I have is going to Wal-Mart with my Sobeys ad and buying my spaghetti sauce 2 for $5 - and having everyone in line including the associate questioning my motives - need the invaluable red coat to help with my "discounted" sauce and to save a special trip to Sobeys...
Life is good.

.. one that won't make me sleep...
The +DI/-DI cross over and the Fast Stochastics north of 20 (actually around 50) during the Sep 8-10 period.
Going back to your latest revelation (when Genesis used tamborines..), the theory was "the open the next day will indicate the direction". Well it closed at 117 and opened at 117 and currently at 117. Direction opened sideways and continued that way. Anyways.....
Found out today (by accident and then through further discussions) that we still are not allowed to trade anything in the RRSP/RESP Calls and Covered Call Writes. I was under the impression that we could trade PUTS - according to "TD" they stated everything was based on the last ruling which was 1998. Not a "webbroker"thingy. I also was told I had no options trading authorization filled out for my tree accounts - so he was going to send tree forms out to me. Stupid me I probably original said "yeah like I will never buy options in that...". Anyways I know they were putting through rules to expand the options - because of the 2000 meltdown - investors were hampered by that rule. (the lack of PUTS - as used as an insurance vehicle - to hedge your portfolio downside - went against everything that these accounts stood for).
Firefox --- installed in on my old Win98box -
(A) Right-click on tab - would prefer CLOSE TAB to be first
(B) The Group bookmark is now "folders" - before a group can be opened with a single click - now I have to right-click then choose #2- open in tabs...

EDIT:
(Chuckle: I had this reply going out last night.. I have a 10minute vocal warning the system is shutting down - had it mute - and then as I am typing and down it went (first shuts down my email and browser then backs up via rar then auto-off - so the browser was "killed"..).. oh well.. at least I went to bed - only to wake up to a garbage+tractor trailer fiasco shutting down the entire core.. oh well - a waste of 40 minutes to venture out and back home..)
Public Service Notice: JPEG VIRUS
Found this out reading the EasyNews page.
Read this
They link to Google related info too.
Affects Windows machines. I patched mine successfully. The process was to go to the Microsoft site to download the GDI+ detector to see if you need more stuff - then they forwarded me to Office - so I am thinking it might be Office and their new JPEG viewer that is the problem.
One report said:
Less than two weeks after it was announced, hackers have exploited a Windows XP JPEG vulnerability and are spreading a virus through adult content newsgroups.
Adult content - well let me say this - I am sure a lot of people get "jokes" emailed to them. Though "adult content" is a very large business, hitting joke pictures I think would affect more people.
Onguard all...
