do a little research... it's not just about 2000... here are some of my many previous posts on the subject...
By now, Diebold Inc., the owner of what is now arguably the largest voting-machine company in the U.S., has become famous for its vested interests and an idiotic written statement made by its CEO.
Diebold director W.H. Timken has raised over $100,000 for the 2004 campaign of George W. Bush, earning the designation “Pioneer.” …
On June 30, 2003, Diebold CEO Walton O’Dell organized a fundraising party for Vice President Dick Cheney, raising $600,000 and many of our antennas.
Julie Carr-Smyth, of The Plain Dealer, discovered in August 2003 that O’Dell had t raveled to Crawford, Texas, for a Pioneers and Rangers meeting attended by George W. Bush. Then Smyth learned of a letter, written by O’Dell shortly after returning from the Bush ranch and sent to 100 of his wealthy and politically inclined friends, which said:
“I am committed to helping Ohio deliver its electoral votes to the president next year.”

is how you can't make a single post without slamming someone ...
ROFL!!! have you forgotten?
now I know how you lost your soul!
Boy, you self proclaimed righteous little angels are sure hypocritical at times, aren't you?
Are you special ....... or just plain slow?
you obviously
1) did not read my post
2) don't give a crap about what is true as long as it contributes to your 'hate posts'
3) just run off at the mouth, without checking any facts..
4) are not interested in addressing any issue not convenient to your personal hatred.
guess he needs about ten more years ......... to grow up!
my fine feathered little insignificnat wart of a buddy.
you want to talk big and put out the 'hate trash; but you can't back it up.
What's wrong.... let your mouth overload your arse?
Dang, does your head rattle when you shake it?
Not at all, birdbrain. You are the one who posted the 'off topic' article....
Guess you are the one with Clinton on the brain...
are you illiterate ........ or just not so bright?
what planet you form anyway?
What prompted that little juvenile outburst?
Upset because someone pointed out your double standards?
when you obviously have problems reading the plain text
"Don't confuse me with the facts" approach works for you every time, huh?
you got 'Montezuma's revenge' of the mouth
And more likely, you just like to run your mouth, regardless of whether or not it is on topic or relevent to the discussion.
Some underlying need for attention and approval no doubt ....
Why not discuss something where you can at least fake some degree of knowledge.???
You can't read can you.?? Can't even follow posts form a question to an answer.
--------
good luck in getting any answer other than insults and rudeness.
you're dodging the issue ...... What is it with you anyway? Short attention span? Or just short .......
but deep in your heart, you know you fall far short...
Is that a terminal disease you have, or just some little ailment that might could be cured with a little common sense and a pair of cajones?
you are just too dense ....
My God ......... just how stupid can you possibly be?
your little tantrum has nothing to do with the issue being discussed... sorry, another attempt to divert and cover up ...
As I said, produce something factal to back up your accusations and attacks.......
You're cheap entertainment ........
You are not only gullible, you are delusional.
Seems you're a victim of your own "stinkin' thinkin'"
How freaking funny can you be anyway?
'scuse me there my little hypocrite,
You're typical.......A loud mouthed, rude, liberal jerkoff who gets their jollies trying to belittle others and their accomplishments just to make you feel better about yourself and your inadequacies
Even if you do choose to squander those rights by making a complete and total jackass of yourself.
95% of the posts you make are condescending, rude and belittling ....
Why not grade your own for truth ... ZERO ..............
You are old enough to know better.
please learn to read and interpret what you read.
must every post from you be an emotional outburst, full of gloom and doom?
geeesh, why not change your alias to 'the sheep'?
At least, you could be an honest bigot!
You're an idiot!
I can't believe you let your personal hatred overshadow what you know in your heart is true.
quite impressed with yourself, eh?
What are you drinking tonight?
you're obviously either spiking that tea ...... or smoking something along with it...
Did you swallow a Viagra tonight?
You might want to read it ................ Then again ,,,, probably YOU wouldn't
I'm the one who reminds you of the integrity you lack ..... who demonstrates the spine you never developed ... the one who displays the character you totally lack ..........
Seems you are too worried about getting your views out to bother with finding out what anyone else thinks about anything......... or more importantly, to ask WHY they think it .....
You should be ashamed to be so childish ..... or stupid ...... or both.
You egghead
are you for real?
Commmunist that you are.
you freak
Dude, your head is not screwed on correctly
You are one weird dude
you undoubtedly have the thickest skull I've ever encountered ...
Do I have to post everything at a third grade level for you to understand?
are you truly that ill informed ........
or just purposely playing dumb?
Can't you see how ridiculous that sounds?
You guys are sounding like a broken record
Think just once you could actually 'read' a post before you commence your 'rebuttal'??
Nah, that'd require some personal honesty and integrity on your part
Get your head out of your kazoo
IF you understood the meaning or the word 'shame' I'd tell you that you should be showing some ...... but you don't ...
Requires more honesty than you can muster to actually respond, eh?
LOL... that picture is so totally photoshopped
that was excellent!
and I'm glad he reminded us about how Bush removed forces from Afghanistan that were pursuing bin Laden to go into Iraq. And I'm really glad to hear that the Dem party is for getting out of Iraq.
there it is... total BS
I still can't believe ABC is going to air this... very irresponsible
what's that a title of a book?
it isn't just 2000, it's 2004 and many other minor elections in between...
do a little research (or even read my many posts on the subject)
If you want to argue I suggest you need to do it on some other thread. - extelecom
if you care about voting rights...
The best way to protect our vote is to elect responsible, ethical leaders to the office of Secretary of State. When people like Ken Blackwell and Katherine Harris control the election process it should be no surprise that voters are disenfranchised and that our democracy is undermined.
Democracy for America is supporting four great Secretary of State candidates that will start restoring fairness to our elections. These candidates all support verifiable paper ballots and strong protections for voter rights. They all have a great chance to win, but they need your help to put their campaigns over the top. Please read more and help them in any way you can:

Debra Bowen
Debra Bowen -- California. Debra is a State Senator, Chair of the Senate Elections Committee, and a good-government watchdog. As Secretary of State, Debra will ensure California properly certifies all of its voting equipment -- particularly the new electronic voting machines. She will also establish an appropriate auditing mechanism to guarantee the results of every election are 100% accurate. Join Democracy for America, California for Democracy, and EMILY's List in supporting Debra Bowen for California's Secretary of State.
Jennifer Brunner
Jennifer Brunner -- Ohio. Jennifer is a former Franklin County, OH Judge. Before being elected to the bench, Jennifer served as Legislative Counsel of the Ohio Secretary of State's Office. She is a former member of the Franklin County Board of Elections and has over thirteen years of experience in election law representing citizen groups, labor unions, and candidates for state offices. Brunner has promised to make all Ohio elections "free, fair, open, and honest" and to oversee a process that can be "audited and verified." Please join Democracy for American, Emily's List, the Women's Campaign Forum, and we can win this seat and end the corruption in Ohio's election process.
Mark Ritchie
Mark Ritchie -- Minnesota. Mark emerged as a national leader on voting rights issues in 2004 when he headed the National Voice Coalition. This nonpartisan Get Out the Vote campaign that coordinated the work of over 1000 groups nationwide and resulted in 5 million new registered voters. Mark is a champion in the fight against voter suppression, and is an ardent proponent of a voter verified paper trail. As Secretary of State, he will be a leader in removing unfair and discriminatory barriers to civic participation.
Deb Markowitz
Deb Markowitz -- Vermont. Deb is serving her 8th year in office as Vermont's Secretary of State. She is currently the president of the NASS (National Association of Secretaries of State) and serves on the Board of Advisors to the Federal Elections Assistance Commission. As Secretary of State Deb has been a progressive voice for transparency in elections administration and the elimination of unnecessary barriers to voting. She has implemented an ambitious election reform agenda in Vermont and her voter education and outreach programs are being used as a model for other states. Please join EMILY's List, the Women's Campaign Fund and Democracy for America in supporting Deb Markowitz's efforts to win another term in office.
Debra Bowen, Jennifer Brunner, Mark Ritchie, and Deb Markowitz are strong candidates who will fight for change. But they need your help in gaining support and building a strong grassroots network. Please help them today:

good argument for more women in leadership
The group's headquarters are at the offices of Horowitz's Center for the Study of Popular Culture, a "think tank" bankrolled for years with millions by right-wing sugardaddies like eccentric far right billionaire Richard Mellon Scaife. (Scaife
financed the Arkansas Project, a $2.3 million dirty tricks operation that included paying sources for
negative stories about Bill Clinton that turned out to be false.)
from the link which Alex posted on the subject
excellent idea!
On this project, he is working with a secretive evangelical religious right group founded by The Path to 9/11's director David Cunningham that proclaims its goal to "transform Hollywood" in line with its messianic vision.
oh... more religious nut cases... explains alot, particularly the blantant disregard for facts.
It's a shame the Disney name has been so tarnished... I won't ever look at it the same way after this.
funny how some would rather put all the blame on the home owners when at least an equal amount belongs in the laps of greedy mortgage brokers.
The mortgage broker that I know and work with has a policy of being completely honest with home owners and watches out for their long term interests. Unfortunately they are many greedy and unscrupulous ones out there and many people are going to lose their homes because 1) they trust unscrupulous brokers and 2) didn't do their home as well as they should have.
But isn't that why almost all of us hire professionals of one sort or another? To advise us on areas where we are not expert? I tend to put the largest share of the blame on those who profited from this mess.
and like reality TV is even real... nice dodge
If you continue to address other posters in that way, you will be banned from the thread for harrassing other posters. It is my job to moderator this board, not yours.
Coaltrains posts are most welcome.
why do people bring lawsuits agains these plants?
because they perceive safety issues/risks
This is the Global Warmin thread, not the Nuclear Reactor safety threadf.
excuse me? Since YOU have put forth nuclear energy as one possible solution to global warming, discussing the safety of global warming is VERY appropriate.
sounds very interesting. is it fiction or non-fiction?
"This program will provide up to $2 billion in coverage to protect the builders of the first six new nuclear plants against the potential cost of regulatory or litigation-related delays."
from extel's post that started this thread. and although it doesn't explicitly say that it's because of safety, regularly or litigation related delays would most likely be a result of concerns about safety.
Why did anyone ever expect a senator who is an heir to the Billions of the Heinz fortune to be a radical and promise 40,000 more trrops to the war and then go back on his word and start withdrawl.
he married into that. he met his wife at an environmental event. he has a brain and could articulate his ideas intelligently. he experienced war first hand. Believe me, he wasn't my first choice but given the choice of Bush vs. Kerry I would vote for him again. Nader just wasn't viable.
And finally, although you call Kerry a pro war candidate because of how you feel about his stance on things, I doubt that Chomsky or many of the rest of us who voted for him saw him that way... I know I didn't.
Yet votes for someone promising 40,000 more troops be sent to Iraq? and encourages others to do so.
right or wrong, let me try to explain the thinking behind this. At the time, there were many reports (which turned out to be true), that our troops went to Iraq under staffed and without proper equipment for the task. We were already there and the thinking was that our guys were being left out there to dry without proper support. So to bolster their position, it was thought more troops were needed in the short term.
That doesn't preclude, at the same time, planning on how to get the troops safely home and creating an exit plan.
Let me try an analogy... you've sent your child off to college in a foreign country... you find out it was a bad decision financially and is going to cost too much. You want them back home again to go to the local college. You call them up and they say they don't have food in their apartment to last out the week. So you wire them food money. Then you start making arrangements for their flight home, transfer to the local college, etc. In the short run, you've just sent them more money and it's costing you even more, but you're starting the ball rolling in returning them home and in the long run it solves the problem.
Using the term "NIMBY" comes across to me as an attempt to trivialize people's issues with safety for nuclear power plants. What I was trying to get you to see is that they are valid concerns that need to be addressed and that having our government pay for insurance isn't a solution. Paying for insurance doesn't solve the safety issues and may even discourage those very companies from being extremely dilligent in solving them. Why worry if the government is covering you with insurance?
Ron Paul is always worth reading
In countries where everyone knows the media produces government propaganda, people remain wary of what they hear. In the United States the media are considered free and independent, thus the propaganda is accepted with less questioning..."
excellent point
I demonstrate in my office all the time!!!
LOL
when I was working in the office, I had regular debates with one of my cooworkers who was pro war... I should email him now and see if he has changed his tune
I suppose that's part of it
reminds me of what my son heard in his class room in 2003 in the lead up to the invasion of Iraq... one of the kids said that Sadam had nuked us... that's how crazy and distorted information can get.
And as we have seen with the idea that there was some sort of connection with Iraq and 911, it's really hard to correct a misconception.
good for you. I was thinking I wanted to join in the next time they have one over in the city... but I just don't understand why there isn't the same kind of movement as in Vietnam... maybe the bloggers are replacing the need for physical demonstrations?
what I want to know is...
why isn't there a big anti-war movement such as with Vietnam???
maybe they counted on more apathy from the general public and I'm glad to see that isn't the case
I haven't seen the commercial, but you're probably right about that if they are as I've been reading.
I would agree with politicians not having TV commercials. Public debates on TV should be encouraged. And I'd like to see standardized information pamplets that report on a candidates financing, positions on the issues, background and voting record.
if he's furious with the directory and producer of the film, that's good... if he's surprised at the protest, tough cookies
true...
but if it airs as is, the damage will have been done IMO
not really... read this:
...and that a program such as ‘The Path to 9/11’ provides a very ‘teachable moment’ for developing these skills at the high school level. We encourage teachers not to shy away from the controversy surrounding the program, but rather to engage their students in meaningful, in-depth discussion.”

I can almost understand how someone could have voted for him in 2000... but in 2004??? obviously asleep at the wheel.
it's says something that in creating this film he is deliberately avoiding parties who were directly involved and yet involved political pundits such as Rush... yeah right... no bias there... a real seeker of information... and the guy has a history of doing the same thing in the past (re the Reagan piece he did).
here's a link to the scholastic site and that info... there is an email address at the bottom which I just used to tell them that's not good enough and that if they persist, I will contact the local school district and state authorities regarding it.
