A new twist on RMDs (Required Minimum Distribution). A new law going into effect Secure Act 2.0
https://www.lordabbett.com/en-us/financial-advisor/insights/retirement-planning/secure-act-2-0--rmd-changes-for-2023-and-beyond.html#:~:text=Required%20minimum%20distributions%20pushed%20to,or%20after%20January%201%2C%202023.
How I plan on getting around this is quite simple; especially if one controls their own stock trading. Buy low, sell high (take profits), then buy low again and maintain the same number of shares as previous. Example; Say my IRA Rollover account is worth $500k. I have to withdraw 4% annually (RMD) beginning at age 73. 4% of $500k = $20K. No problemo... I sell 10k shares of stock in company ABC for $5 a share ($50k), buy back company ABC at $3 a share, I pocket the $20K and take my annual distribution satisfying my RMD requirements.
Of course, if I'm in Punta Cunta getting a sunburn and voting my Amarin shares against removing Per Wold Olsen then what can I say? The stock market is like fishing, one has to be patient and be smarter than the fish.

Thanks RAF;
TTE; at times I can be skeptical… it’s okay really. Perhaps, perhaps not. Your right, my timing wasn’t very good.
With the remaining cash $300M, and the stock price at such a pitiful valuation, an equity offering would crater shares.
Hopefully, this will be an easy “flip” for Denner.
I’m so totally ready to move on.
Homebrew; I would say not this year. Denner has to see the book’s first, then make some major changes. I wouldn’t put it past him to do a stock offering to right the ship. Advertising? File lawsuits against Generics? It’s quite obvious Amarin’s settlement against HealthNet was a waste of time. What really needed to happen was for Amarin to continue to trial against HealthNet. Too little traction, too late I’m afraid. I thought we’d see a buyout in 6 to 12 months, now I’m not so sure. With all the shenanigans going on, I wouldn’t be surprised if Amarin management files a lawsuit against Sarissa. Using our money?
Rose; There wasn't a remove button for this Private message. It was either Archive or File and the checkbox. Thanks
To any Board Moderators; I was sent a private message, I'm not able to delete it from my Mailbox? How do I go about deleting a nonsense message. It's just a phishing message. I have no idea what they were referring to?
TIA
DAR; I’m on the Humana Medicare Advantage Plan and 90 day supply of V is $90. Nice thing about Medicare Advantage is that now my dental and vision is covered. Humana throws in Gym membership as an additional option.
Rose; be careful of the Catamaran excursions and the Rum punch they serve with the Lobster tail. I got so drunk in St Johns Virgin Islands, my wife had to physically carry me back to the ship.
Zip; hindsight is a great thing…ain’t it? I think it would have required a Genius to hit all the points you made. Not in JT’s wheelhouse I’m afraid.
Duke; I agree with your assessment of Vascepa being tasteless. I happened to have bit into one, I didn’t taste anything funky or fishy. I’ve never even seen GV.
I highly doubt dmiller, I’ve never experienced a broken capsule of Vascepa ever! Unless it was in an yet unopened bottle (sealed)? And sat on the shelf for months?
north; thanks for the articles; Found this on IHUB Amylin Board, from July 2012.

Appears they liked their glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) franchise (Diabetes) medication.
Wait until the market gets it's hands on Vascepa. There really hasn't been much of any flag waving or Marching Bands playing Vascepa's tune.
Would be great to get $31 a share. I figure now I can trade my AMRN shares now that the voting is done. Not today however, one more week and we should know the results.
Lizzy, ever watch a Championship football or basketball game. The winner always has the baseball caps with their team names on them already.
I’ll bet Sarissa already has a PR prepared or even Amarin (heaven forbid)..:D(
All they’ll need is to plug in the numbers, add a few names….
Sorry Izzy and Bird; We'll know by how the stock price reacts on the morning of the 28th. Institutional investors will know for sure. You can bet if Sarissa is successful then they'll put out a PR. Then it's either a pump and dump or "to the moon Alice."
February 28th is a Tuesday. Mark your calendars.
Apologies; BRAVE STUDY: The goal of the BRAVE study is to find out if a prescription strength dose of fish oil (Vascepa) can stop or delay early brain changes associated with Alzheimer’s disease.
Great story Rose; Like the Movie "How It Ends." the gas station scene with Forest Whitaker.
There's all kinds of scams out there too. Offerup, Craigslist,
Random thoughts today; trying to stay focused on why we are here and why we're invested in Amarin. What a wonderful drug we have, yet Amarin Management has relatively given up on the US market. They refuse to do anything constructive. I really think they don't know what to do quite frankly. Vascepa needs to be in the hands of someone who can and will exploit the uses for this wonderful drug.
Mitigate Clinical Trial: Brief Summary:
MITIGATE is a prospective, open-label, parallel-group, randomized, pragmatic clinical trial. The MITIGATE Study has been designed to evaluate the real-world clinical effectiveness of pre-treatment with icosapent ethyl (IPE), also known as Vascepa®, compared to usual standard of care to prevent and reduce the sequelae of laboratory-confirmed viral upper respiratory infection (URI)-related (i.e., COVID-19, influenza, and other known viral respiratory pathogens) morbidity and mortality in a high-risk cohort of adults with established atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD). Status?
Effects COVID-19 had on world population; Around 7.46 million excess deaths occurred on average in both 2020 and 2021, leading to nearly 15 million excess deaths over the two-year period. Excess deaths measure the difference between the number of actual deaths and the number of deaths that would have been expected had the pandemic not occurred.
Brave Clinical Trial:Brief Summary:
This is an open-label, placebo run-in study to investigate the genetic and biomedical predictors of blood pressure response to bisoprolol. After informed consent is obtained, subjects will be withdrawn from previous antihypertensive therapy and given placebo for at least 2 weeks. Compliance will be assessed using pill counting, and any subject will a compliance less than 80% during the placebo run-in period will be excluded from the study. Bisoprolol 2.5 mg will be given once daily for 6 weeks. At baseline and after 6 weeks on bisoprolol 2.5 mg the clinic sitting blood pressure, 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure (if the patient is willing to do this), clinical characteristics and biochemical profile will be measured. Central aortic blood pressure will be measured with the A-PULSE device at baseline and after 6 weeks treatment.
After completing 6 weeks treatment with bisoprolol 2.5 mg daily, the patient will continue treatment with bisoprolol for a total of 24 weeks unless there is any adverse event that requires discontinuation of bisoprolol.Status?
Alzheimer's impact on the world. Worldwide, at least 50 million people are believed to be living with Alzheimer's disease or other dementias. According to the United Nations, that is more than the population of Colombia. If breakthroughs are not discovered, rates could exceed 152 million by 2050.
WHAT IS FIBROMYALGIA?
Fibromyalgia is a condition that causes ongoing pain throughout the body. It's characterized by numerous tender points all over the body. Symptoms of Fibro include muscle and joint stiffness, depression, anxiety, sleep problems, fatigue, brain fog, memory issues, headaches, numbness/tingling in extremities and digestive issues. Central sensitization is thought to be the primary mechanism involved. This is where the central nervous system gets regulated into a persistent state of high reactivity which can create extreme pain even with minimal stimulus.
Abstract: Fibromyalgia syndrome (FMS) is a chronic musculoskeletal disorder of unknown etiology that affects up to 5.0% of the world population (8 Billion or approx. 400 Million people are afflicted with Fibromyalgia). It has a high female predominance, between 80 and 96%. Due to the low number of diagnosed men, research work has focused mainly on women. So, these figures did not include all men.
Top four treatments for Fibromyalgia; Painkillers, Muscle relaxants, Anti-depressants (cannabis), Sleeping pills.....
No wonder Humira is the number #1 selling drug in the world.
Rank Drug Main indication Trade name 2015 2016 2017 2018 2019

4 ustekinumab psoriasis Stelara 2.0 2.6 3.7 5.0 6.6
5 pembrolizumab oncology Keytruda 0.4 0.7 2.2 4.3 6.5
Excessive confidence yes. But don’t forget this is Amarin Management we’re facing.
They just can’t get out of their own way fast enough.
Think of it this way, we’re all Firefighters and there’s a child on the 5th floor and the building is on fire. Who’s going to beat me up the LADDER?
What’s the Point Spread? Vegas odds say Sarissa by 120M votes. Anything less and I lose…my personal bet.
Last vote was about 180 - 190M range.
This time… much bigger turnout. I would venture to guess about the turnout this time between 250M - 300M.
Final tally, no missing ballots or hanging chads….
Sarissa Wins..Topples the Regime;
210M FOR
40M AGAINST
81% of the votes
Raf; I especially like it when Authors of such articles anonymously post such garbage. It's like there's no credibility to what they wrote at all. Unlike our brainwashed media, who really believe what they write is the "truth and nothing but the truth so help me GOD!"
Incredible,
Setup my mail order account with CenterWell, associated with Humana. Getting Vascepa $90 for 90 days. That’s $360 per year, less money than previously under regular Medicare Part D and BCBS supplemental plans.
Plus no more additional premiums (Supplemental Plans) with Medicare Advantage.
Look dudettes; You vote your shares your way, in the reality of it, your position doesn’t mean squat anyway. What’s incredible is people don’t understand the workings of a well run company and the BODs role. Starting with the Chairman.
The Better quality Chairman listen to their shareholders. In PWO case, he’s a cowboy doing what he wants and ignoring the shareholders.
Case in point; Go research Disney and Bob Iger’s return.
Nuff said,
Snuffy Smith
PS what happened to all the good cartoonists?
Not that it matters yet, I would like to see a Fibromyalgia study done with Vascepa.
My brother is a Vietnam Vet who suffered a spinal injury late 80’s. He has Fibromyalgia and so uses Cannabis to help him with the pain.
I think Vascepa would help him. He’s not a pill pusher, but I think if he’d take Vascepa if it’s prescribed.
Vascepa is good for inflammation, it might just work for people with this condition.
jasbg: You as well, going out tomorrow to get the garden prepared for Spring. Tomatoes and chili's and potatoes oh my....
Wow! I wonder who the "knowledgeable people" are? Someone else like ZACKS perhaps?
I believe we have knowledgeable people right here, as good as anyplace really. Unless there's insider knowledge people giving out free advice to strangers?
Me thinks Pdude has been out in the sun too long? NASDAQ is down, traders are taking profits, nothing material has changed with Amarin, same old, same old....it's got nothing to do with the Proxy voting. Geesh....!!!!
And obviously, you don't have a problem with Per Wold Olsen (part-time COB) the do nothing, fleecing shareholders either? Incredible.
Too funny, I tell my wife it's 12 inches..... :D). In your example, that would be 18 Barley corns. Night of the long schlong......
jasbg: I'd sold @ $18 the week before ADCOM #2, I was trying to play the market swing and get more shares before the ADCOM.
Well, unfortunately for me I was out of Amarin when the shares hit $26 and ADCOM had approved Vascepa. I didn't want to chase a runaway train. So, I put a lot of my "winnings" into ROKU and some others. Shoulda, woulda, coulda, I really shouldn't be trading stocks, I did very well on some and make terrible trades on others. Well, needless to say I'd purchased 10,000 shares of ROKU and it proceeded to go to $400. That was the good part. I did take profits, but the bad part was I didn't take enough money off the table at the right time. Post 2020 election. I had no clue what was about to hit us.
I'm doing okay, I'm just down like 80% since 2020, thanks to President Dementia. So, go easy on Pdude, he made a good call, now he's basking in the sun at Punta Cana. I wouldn't discount his trade at all. He's probably telling the truth. Still, I agree with you, I don't understand the man's logic.
I voted BLUE all the way....GO BLUE
tal: it would be nice to break things down monetarily for us across the pond. 240 pence = 1 pound. Thank god the dollar system is like the metric system, much easier to understand.
King Henry must have been counting nose hairs when he made up the rules on the English monetary system. 20 nose hairs = 1 pence, hence, I pick my nose for twelve days and then we'll declare it 1 pound Sterling. Just like three (3) barley corns laid end to end is 1 inch. Now isn't that scientific? What if I applied more fertilizer one year and my barley corns grew twice the size? An inch would become 2 inches.
qq: It depends upon the acquiring company's cash position. Novartis (Yahoo) says it has $18.73B in cash. More than enough to acquire us using cash. But, if they needed their cash for expansion and marketing, then @ $83 per share they could issue 73 million shares (approx. $6B) a virtual drop (not really) in the bucket to their outstanding 2.12Bshares. A 3.4% dilution. I can definitely see your point. However.....
Novartis would then be in the drivers seat in the Cardiovascular arena.
If it were me I'd accept cash and shares and call it good. Novartis pays a 4% dividend. I'd be a happy clam for sure.
BTW, $6B gets us approx. a $15 buyout price, within my range for sure.
Ahhhh, a line from “Knights Tale” a Heath Ledger movie. I really liked the Chaucer character.
I wouldn’t doubt that he’s someplace warm. Cruise ships are packed this time of year. Plus resorts in warmer areas. I would imagine that winters get really long and cold in Canada…Aye Hoser? : D)
Pdude and Tat; Understand the apples and oranges principle that because of the current price, insurance companies dictate. It not always going to remain that way. Someday (in the future) however, EPA will become more affordable, it has to or go by the way of the Dodo. With plant based and or algae based Omega 3, there's no doubt in my mind that producing high purity EPA is possible. Maintaining the edge in purity is key.
Let me illustrate; How much time, resources and energy did it take in WWII to produce enough Uranium U235 to make the first Atom bomb? A lot.... Now U235 is mass produced in sufficient quantities to support hundreds of Nuke Plants (tons @ 3% enrichment), plus Naval ships (90%+ enrichment). Now, that's apples and oranges.
The least anyone can do Denner included is to promote V as the Gold standard and pinpoint the differences between V vs gV. This isn't being promoted at all. Then again maybe not, maybe Denner doesn't care about that? I think Denners first priority is to rectify the EU acceptance and work out a deal to where it makes it easier for the EU countries to reimburse for V. Find ways to reduce the Cost of Goods sold and still maintain the quality.
thanks for both of your responses.
Robin; I’ve said this before, but certain posters won’t agree with me. Vascepa “Brand” does have a place in the US market.
I’ve used the illustration of Tylenol ( Advil, etc.) vs Generics as an example. Brand Tylenol (and a consortium) outsells Generic Tylenol head to head. And no, there’s no reason why in the right hands that Vascepa couldn’t compete in the EPA market. Vascepa is the “Gold Standard.” They will come…People will pay Ray Kinsella.
Wow, another brilliant statement. You don’t make your one and only drug (product) a “Loss Leader.” Now, the Art of negotiating, there-in lies the key. Since the lowly shareholders aren’t privy to these negotiations, we’ll never know what was said to whom? Or what Amarin countered with?
Have you read Denner’s slides? I don’t believe under his leadership that Germany is dead by any means. Amarin on the other hand took its ball and went home. End of negotiations???
There’s a good book titled; “The Art Of Negotitions.” Obviously, Karim and company never read it.
Like going into a courtroom, attorneys have to be prepared for anything. Conversely a good negotiator has to be prepared for anything.
Yes, my broker provided emails for each account. When I opened each they confirmed that I had voted.
Rose; ProxyVote.com hadn’t recorded two of my accounts for the previous BLUE Card vote (1st time). Only when E*Trade had sent out voting reminders did I realize, that these accounts (shares) hadn’t been tabulated. I’m glad I had electronic notifications and verifications setup.
Yes, I called them directly, I was redirected to another department. I had to call twice because the first set of control numbers were for the White Card. On my second call, They gave me my Blue Card (unsolicited) Proxy control numbers. I then went to ProxyVote.com and voted.
About a week or so later, E*Trade sent 6 proxies to my email address. 3 White, 3 Blue, after verification of my Blue Card votes I noticed that 2 of my accounts hadn’t been tabulated by ProxyVote.com?
I then submitted my Blue Card vote via E*Trade email link.
This is something everyone should do. Verify that you voted using the Blue Card and get a confirmation of your vote.
Conspiracy theory or no, I smell a rat or Rat’s as in plural. Their names are Karim Mikhail and Per Wold Olsen.
If you haven’t read Captain’s post on White vs Blue you should. It’s eye opening.
GLTA
DAR, make sure you get a confirmation of your vote as well. Either through your broker or through Broadbridge via ProxyVote.com
Captain; thanks for getting to the real gist of the problem with Voting the White Card. These crooks are really something.
You’ll notice I didn’t put Amarin out front in my salutation. I didn’t want to tarnish the company name and have it associated with these crooks that are ruining this company. It’s a name that means something to me anyway.
These jokers have to go….
