Apple Store Report
Spoke to a colleague who went to the Burlington, MA Apple Store last Saturday and she was amazed that the Store was overflowing with customers in every age group. She wants the new 20" iMac G5 and was really impressed with the Front Row software with Apples new remote. Sales of practically everything we're brisk. Checkout was a 25 Minute wait. This is going to be a huge quarter. If this keeps up Apple could blow away expectations again.

Mirror, Mirror on the Wall whats the fairest Operating System of all
WLD, I think thats a little .... unfair considering that this is an AAPL stock board. Apple has become very predictable as of late reaching new highs about every two weeks. I just mentioned XBox360 because I like to rag on Billy G every chance I get. It's my way of blowing off steam when I have to support these silly DOS boxes at work and in all honesty I'm just plain bored. My days of being a disaffected minority platform geek is numbered now that most people are interested in Apple products. But you have to admit its kind of weird to have a triple core PowerPC in a Microsoft product like the XBox360 and where speculating on x86 Mac's for MacWorld.
It's kind of like the IT GODS are playing some cruel joke on us.
Gee, I hope we get the last laugh.
-Alt
Yofal is that Billy G. clasped in prayer to the IT gods ?
All hail the Mac Mini !!!!
OT: Xbox360
You can tell this is an AAPL board not one peep about the XBox 360 which came out today with much fanfare. Didn't reflect much in Softies stock price either.
-Alt
That would be pretty cool too .... but I still think a Powerbook lite is in the offing !!!!
-Alt
Who would a thunk it ?
-Alt
Now this is really gonna be cool.
Sort of OT: Open Formats ... we shall see.

AAPL Speculation
This is pure speculation on my part. The big issue to overcome is making this kind of memory bootable. Samsung pre-announced 16 GB capacity NAND flash memory. I use my 1 GB iPod shuffle as a spare hard drive. Look at how thin those Nano iPods are .... Apple wants a thinner portable so by removing the hard disk with its physical Read/Write heads and its possible to make extremely fault tolerant systems. I think this will happen eventually as soon as larger NAND memory capacity gets ramped up.
-Alt
Apple to differ its x86 Notebook hardware ?
2B It looks like Hard Disk technology will give way to large bootable solid state memory over the next few years and I suspect Apple will be the first to deliver it in a notebook form factor.
This is going to be cool !!!
-Alt
Now this a Win Win situation.

OT: ALVR
Jim Cramer can move the market .... He mentioned ALVR on Mad Money and I'm sitting on a 13% gain .... thank you Mr. Cramer !!!!
nvesting in ALVR .... WiMax technology is almost ready to rock and roll. Stock is under $8.00 a share and I'm buying in for at least a Two year window on return for at least a double bagger.
-Alt
Now that's sweet ..... Jim !!!
Still have 150 shares of AAPL that I bought at $13.50 cents.
But Heywood, now that was a very gutsy move .... glad to see its paying off in spades.
Stay Long and Strong !!!
-Alt
Some things to consider when investing in AAPL.
When was the last time AAPL ever had this much clout in the market ?
Short Answer: Never
Will this AAPL Bull run last ?
Short Answer: No, but the Intel Transistion could provide BIG Dividends in Market Share if Apple stays aggressive on price.
Dell has admitted that they cannot compete with the whole iPOD/iTunes thang.
Microsoft will not release WindowsVista until late 2006 or Early 2007.
The best time to make money in AAPL is now ... if AAPL declares a 2 for 1 split early next year the stock price could still go up another 25%.
Apple's growth story with Mac OS X is just starting to reap rewards.
If AAPL OEM's Mac OS X x86 to a HP or Gateway in say late 2006 or 2007 the impact on the Mac OS X marketshare would be huge.
Sure is looking like it is going to be all premium and no AAPL for me. I'd sell 65s, but if AAPL had some disastrous drop today or tomorrow, I'd be holding quite a bit of it on margin. It is probably best that I never shake from my mind that overnight drop from $50 to $25.
-Alt
Now this is what you call irrational exuberance.
Go AAPL !!!!!

Get this tool for switching people from IE to Firefox.
For each person you switch, Google gives you $1, Microsoft loses marketshare, and an angel gets its wings.
Switch your users to Firefox and make money.
You already want people to switch to Firefox. Now's the time to get serious about it. Google is paying $1 for each new Firefox user you refer.
This is pretty amazing. Now you can advance your ideals, save people from popups and spyware hell, and make some serious money. Millions of people have heard about Firefox and are ready to switch--all they need is a friendly push.
That's where these scripts come in. They're specially formulated to give just the right push, maximizing souls-saved and dollars-for-you.

AOL, Warner Bros to launch free TV service by 2006
Mon Nov 14, 2005 12:01 AM ET
By Kenneth Li
NEW YORK, Nov 14 (Reuters) - Time Warner Inc.'s (TWX.N: Quote, Profile, Research) AOL said on Monday it planned to launch a free Internet television service by early 2006, in one of the technology and media industry's most ambitious designs to reach TV viewers online.
Yahoo Inc. (YHOO.O: Quote, Profile, Research) and Google Inc. (GOOG.O: Quote, Profile, Research) threaten to bypass traditional media outlets by linking computer users with TV shows online, striking partnerships with programmers, or create it themselves, but what they lack AOL now possess in abundance -- the shows themselves.
The advertising-supported service, In2TV, will feature approximately 3,400 hours of programming from 4,800 episodes spanning 100 series of Warner Bros.-produced shows from the past in its first year in an exclusive deal.
They include past primetime hits "Welcome Back Kotter," "Growing Pains" and "Kung Fu" organized under six channels divided by comedy, drama, animation, action, classic and superhero/villain genres. Two more may launch in 2006.
Over time, Warner Bros. could add up to 14,000 episodes from 300 series it has currently cleared with rights holders, executives said. AOL is also currently in talks with "every major provider" to offer shows not owned by Time Warner, Kevin Conroy, executive vice president of AOL media networks said in an interview.

Rumor: Mac Mini to go intel at MacWorld 2006
We know that Apple has to introduce something at MacWorld 2006 but the question is what ? I think this is all speculation at this point. If I where to guess I'd say something like a MacMini that does 802.11n and distributes Audio and Video to the livingroom.

Mac Mini Could See Big Announcement
Maya Roney, 11.14.05, 12:00 PM ET
NEW YORK - Apple fans: Don't spend all of your holiday money on a video iPod--Wall Street analysts and Mac experts are predicting a surprise announcement of a new Intel-based Mac at MacWorld this January.
Back in June, Apple Computer (nasdaq: AAPL - news - people ) announced that it would have a Mac running on Intel (nasdaq: INTC - news - people ) chips by June 2006, but the Street and the geeks have a hunch that the company could make the transition much sooner.

OT: Evolution Theory and The Existence of God
Something created the first speck of matter that became the Universe we know .... even before life as we know it evolved or appeared. Religions around the world have a different name for this being, call it God call it Allah call it Yeoway ... call it what you will. Science is mans attempt to understand the universe .... seeking knowledge is a good thing and evolution in no way conflicts with the existence of a supreme being.
"The evolutionist theory is: Since we reject the existance of God, (outcome already made up), everything must be eternal in and of itself and evolved over time, thus no matter what science points to, we reject it and will only interpret any evidence to support evolution."
It's clear that the more we explore the sciences we begin to understand and appreciate the great intelligence that brought this universe into existence.
So whats the big deal ? Why have Billions over the centuries died over this subject.
IMHO It's all about controlling how people think and behave so that those who say they have the answers stay in power to control the destinies of others.
This Republic was founded on a seperation of Church and State and it will stay that way because Free thinking Americans will defend it.

Disruptive Technologies
Cider I think their are alot of disruptive technologies that will help transform the markets in the near future. The recent price increases of traditional fuels is spuring research into Cheaper alternatives Daystar Technologies (DSTI) has developed a cheaper more flexible Solar Cell technology that looks very promising.
Hydrogen Fuel Cells are being developed by ENER MKTY HYGS and others hold great promise for Hybrid Automobiles and mobile devices.
WiMax is another technology being championed by Intel (INTC) and Broadcom which will make Voice over IP Telephony (Vonage) and Internet Connectivity possible over vast distances.
802.11n will quadruple wireless Bandwidths making wireless Voice and Video possible (Think in terms of a Wireless iPod).
Net Services from GOOG and others will challenge the whole Personal Computing experience with mobile devices replacing traditional PeeCees as we know them today. Think iTunes Music and Video Stores only for Application services you rent or use on demand.
Apple and others are working on Cheap Super computer clusters and Grid Computing for Process Intensive applications for Genetic and (ACCL) Nano Technology research.
Well thats just a few technologies and companies.
Anybody else know of a new or emerging disruptive technology that we could all profit from in the near future ?

Sony DRM infects Macintoshes as well as Windows PCs
A reader on Macintouch notes that content-protected Sony CDs not only have Windows-infecting rootkits, but also Macintosh-aware End User License Agreements and digital rights management kernel extensions:
recently purchased Imogen Heap's new CD (Speak for Yourself), an RCA Victor release, but with distribution credited to Sony/BMG. Reading recent reports of a Sony rootkit, I decided to poke around. In addition to the standard volume for AIFF files, there's a smaller extra partition for "enhanced" content. I was surprised to find a "Start.app" Mac application in addition to the expected Windows-related files. Running this app brings up a long legal agreement, clicking Continue prompts you for your username/password (uh-oh!), and then promptly exits. Digging around a bit, I find that Start.app actually installs 2 files: PhoenixNub1.kext and PhoenixNub12.kext.
Personally, I'm not a big fan of anyone installing kernel extensions on my Mac. In Sony's defense, upon closer reading of the EULA, they essentially tell you that they will be installing software. Also, this is apparently not the same technology used in the recent Windows rootkits (made by XCP), but rather a DRM codebase developed by SunnComm, who promotes their Mac-aware DRM technology on their site.

Crippled Bluetooth for Telecom Profits
AppleCider you can use a bluetooth equipped cellphone as a modem for an apple system when out of range of a Wifi signal. Bluetooth is also capable of accessing the internet from a computer but most wireless telecoms cripple the phones so that you cannot get internet connectivity through a computer via bluetooth so that you have to use their cell services for internet access. Why Cripple Bluetooth ? The telecoms want revenue from the emerging downloadable Music and Video business through their Cellphone networks. Thats why their is lots of speculation that Apple may be considering creating its own iTunes phone with a network to go with it.

iTunes and Verizon
Tarmar hate to burst your bubble but Verizon is one of Microsoft's preferred partners so its highly unlikely that Apple could secure an iTunes deal with Verizon. lil' Billy G. would have a fit.

Zaga ... now this might actually be an acceptable iTunes phone.
Need to make sure they haven't crippled bluetooth sharing with Apple systems though.
