Cautionary word : With increased "security precautions" associated with Windows 10
it will be wise to "record your passwords" and other information, like security question
information, IMO.

And take care to know "on what" you might be "clicking".

Jerry..First time here. IH Admin, Dan informed me. You know many are upgrading
to Windows 10 ( Had it for about 10 days now). Well, here is the situation- btw, been
using QT for several years and like it immensely - Must have clicked onto something shouldn't have.
(do not know Windows 10 yet).

When I activate QT my screen resolution drops to about 600x 400 from normal
setting of about 1220 x 840 and every page I bring up is off the screen
(about double in size). As soon as I minimize QT all becomes "well" again.
I have un-installed and re-installed QT a couple of times - didn't help.

And occasionally used magnifier app but not on QT, (don't know if this matters)

Everytime I type internet explorer 11 in windows search and click enter
MSN website comes up.

Now if I could just solve this Magnification phenomenon that occurs
whenever "Quote Tracker" is active ; QT active causes my resolution to
drop to about 600 x 400- so all pages go off the screen (about twice normal size).

Minimize QT and resolution pops back up to my normal setting of about
12XX by 8XX

Was using Magnifier sometimes when this event began to happen
(a few days ago- but after windows 10 was installed).

Magnifier is now OFF but problem still exists.

dvm. Has been amply long for downloading anything (especially since only had 1 of 1

I can tell you that you have a lot more patience than me... would have turned off
after 3 hours of this, using my own computer then turned it back on to see what
would happen.

Here is a good one for the board...Did set up a Microsoft account for windows 10 stuff.
Later when went to use it had forgotten password and had not saved it anywhere, so
they wanted to send me a code, which I copied in the box as requested and clicked ok.
To my surprise, was informed that it was a two step process and now needed to enter
last 4 digits of my home phone number for another code ( I guess to send it (2nd. code) by phone,
but I'm not near home and no plans to return for several days. Net, net... Was informed
that have to wait now, for 30 days to start over (can't use "one drive" , nor contact
"tech support"... these require logging in.

Bummer! Anybody know how to go about eliminating this wait ?

Flobewan. Haven't been able to find amdin check/ change. Now I do have
"quote tracker". Don't know if never got it unstalled or it re-installed

dvm... Recently updated two computers. Only took about two hours.
I had previously made custom settings on Microsoft update menu which
notified me when windows 10 was ready to be downloaded and also set it so
I could, with a click, decide when/if to download.
Am a bit surprised that your computer would be downloading windows 10
without first notifying you. unless you have previously set all updating
choices to automatic.

I have, several times, in the past- been confronted with that message
when shutting down and I always went ahead and shut down anyway.
Then when I fired computer up again, everything went smoothly and normal-like.

The 'puter had not downloaded and the message came back each time
I would shut down.

But, heh, do not put to much weight on my "speak". As you have probably noticed,

Hello tonight: any one like to contribute....I needed to reinstall
"Quote Tracker" because, for some reason' it was enlarging the screen
information each time I pulled it up (stuff would not even fit on the page
anymore- about doubled in size).

Resolution was going to like 640 x 400 from 1040 x 720
This affected every other page until I would go back and reset resolution.

And cannot successfully down load "Quote Tracker".
Here is the message
as to why (the which, I do not understand): Setup window-
"Unable to execute file: C:\Program file (x86)\Quote Tracker\stocks.exe
Create process failed; code 740
The requested operation requires elevation.

Had tried something similar earlier where asked me to type internetexplorer.exe
(returned message that IE could not be found.

Now: at very top of window you had me pull up there is an IE icon followed by IE desktop app"
After trying you guide line, I clicked on that which took me to whatever is stated in
"internet property" menu , in its home page box- which in my case was msn browser home page.

I then changed info in home page box to Maxthon .com/ and it brought that up.
Is internet explorer doing this... don't know.

I have so many things happen that was going to reinstall windows 10 , but was messaged
there, that would need to reinstall all apps myself- eg; quote tracker, Maxthon browser, etc.
So did not go there.

I could restore computer back to windows 7 to get things back on track, but I'm wondering
that if I did that could I again download windows 10 as if it were the first time. (thus letting Microsoft do all the apps installations, as they did the first time.

I do like windows 10 and want it on my computer.

The learning curve is steep!

Oh, and problems are not doings of faulty computer. have great 5 year old hp computer- fast with plenty of memory and big hard drive.

PMS Witch... Ok. Switching desktops: It works only if I press arrow key first
then windows key and seems only to switch between the immediate window
in use and the previous window used (a toggle action).

NEXT: windows+ctrl+D does nothing on my machine. and did not try, windows+ctrl+F4
yet because do not want to risk closing current desktop (might not get it back,
considering the current state of things- like my knowledge of what I'm doing.

Now, my wife has almost the same computer as do I. And it sits about 8 feet away.
I also installed new windows 10 on it next day after I did mine. It works great-
has former desktop with all those icons that we were used to seeing. I lost that
and have, thus far been unable to recouperate it.

She has the old internet explorer. I do not find it on mine. When I try to download
any version IE9, IE10, get message- IE9 not compatible with my computer... IE10 you
already have IE (think that message may be referencing Edge browser).

So, will just keep on amassing information. Am confident that eventually these basic mysteries will be resolved.

Can someone help... Installed windows 10 several days ago. Hardly use edge browser...I keep losing things by clicking on unknown buttons, then I cannot get stuff back.

Lost all my old desktop icons from days of windows7. Have lost Maxthon browser twice (only got it back with new downloads).

2 questions: In the immediate, Can someone tell me how to get back old desktop icons?
Then: Can someone give me a link to windows 10 tutorial?

p.s. and by the way cannot find former Internet explorer browser either.

New2be...Suggest (if hard drive space available) that you have an additional browser
in your machine at all times, as a back up and comparison check tool.

I have about four browsers installed , but only rarely use more than one.

hardtogetnewalias: Can't count on such, IMO. There is a board on Ihub called "Reverse Splits" (board number 3017). I have followed these chepie stock r/s' for years- net,net... stock does not go up much (if any) before r/s, but sometimes does following r/s ( I believe the reason for this is that stock gets oversold as r/s date approaches then when r/s is completed there is renewed hope that company can rebound (born again company, so to speak- and in some instances I have seen stocks really take off.

Might want to investigate this. May be able to, somewhat, "back test" using that boards stored history.

matt24d...Matt, I for one, do not believe the FED will be concerned about the National Debt
and, therefore, will make a token hike in September to test the waters. (good for Gold/Silver stocks ).

IMO, any investor with some spare change will do well to sock away some gold/silver equity
interests. Am confident that the dollar is being supported by psychological exuberance, mainly
and that a deflated dollar WILL manifest itself thus ushering in huge, precious metals run.

Anybody here subscribe to NIA (National Inflation Association) newsletter. I think it may be Lebed
owned, but therein is often presented some interesting mathematical statistics concerning precious metals, inflation, the dollar , exchange rates, etc.
