Nice volume throughout the first 90 minutes.
From annual stockholder meeting
"When asked about a sales outlook, Mr. Gale acknowledged the difficulty of estimating the results from these early- stage efforts, but indicated that the company is internally forecasting sales in the range of $4.5 million to $4.7 million for 2007.
Although the Company does not expect this sales level to result in cash flow breakeven, it is optimistic that sales could exceed this level as several of the initiatives, including high-profile charities, certain private sector groups, and various government agencies could each result in significant sales demand"
Good call Dr Pennystock !
Calypte Announces First Russian Sales Order
Tuesday December 12, 8:30 am ET
LAKE OSWEGO, Ore., Dec. 12 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Calypte Biomedical Corporation (OTC Bulletin Board: CBMC - News), medical diagnostic tests manufacturer for the detection of antibodies to the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) for the professional point of care (PRO) and over the counter (OTC) segments of the market announced today that it has received the initial order from its distributor in Russia, Ordynka Investments Limited, for 25,000 of its Aware(TM) Oral Fluid (OMT) HIV-1/2 rapid tests for the OTC market in the Russian Federation. This product, designed for use in non-clinical settings, permits significantly greater access to HIV testing.
Mr. Vladimir Saveliev, Managing Director of Ordynka Investments Limited, stated "We are happy to be working with Calypte in the hope to be able to help Russia in its fight against the prevention of the spread of the fast growing HIV/AIDS epidemic and this initial order of 25,000 test kits should help the cause. In addition to being safe and painless, oral fluid sampling is very efficient and thereby facilitates high-throughput testing in settings such as the military, prisons, schools and universities. Additionally, oral fluid sampling facilitates testing in many settings, such as outreach or prevalence surveys in remote locations, where drawing blood is difficult or even impossible."
Mr. Saveliev continued, "We intend to deliver no less than 500,000 tests to the Russian Federation over the next 12 months and are confident that the need for these products can be greater than this."
One of the fundamental aspects of HIV intervention is the identification of infected individuals so that they may be counseled and referred to therapy. Although a portion of HIV infections may be identified through a variety of mandated, institutionalized testing programs, the identification of infections in the general population relies largely on the public's voluntary participation in testing programs.
Mr. Roger Gale, Calypte's Chairman and Chief Executive Officer commented, "While HIV testing in Russia is already extensive, our recently approved AwareTM HIV-1/2 OMT (oral fluid) rapid test overcomes several barriers to testing as it is a non-invasive test. As such, we believe it will form the basis for a quality post-testing counseling system - for prevention as well as treatment."
Mr. Gale continued, "We have worked closely with Marr Technologies B.V. ("Marr"), our strategic partner and the Company's largest investor, whose principals come from this region, and we are optimistic that their contacts in the region will maximize our ability to serve the needs of the Russian Federation in its plans to contain the HIV/AIDS epidemic."
I guess the stock is not overbought anymore
and resistance at 11$ wasn't broken today .
So lets move up again now.
Yunnan plans HIV tests before marriage
(AFP)
Updated: 2006-12-03 10:30
Officials in China's worst hit AIDS province plan compulsory pre-marital HIV tests as part of a series of tough measures to stem the spread of the fatal virus, state media has said.
Yunnan province, in the nation's southwestern border region with the opium-producing Golden Triangle, will start implementing the measures from January 1, 2007, the Xinhua news agency reported.
"The year 2007 is crucial in our effort to contain AIDS," Zhang Chang'an, director of the provincial AIDS control office, told Xinhua.
"The province will do anything in its power to live up to its promise of containing the spread of AIDS."
The new rules also oblige people diagnosed with HIV to immediately tell their spouses or partners.
"If they don't, the local disease control department has the authority to do it for them," Xinhua said, citing the rules.
Yunnan, a major transit point for drug trade in the region, is now home to one quarter of China's officially reported HIV cases.
The province had 40,157 HIV sufferers at the end of last year, up sharply from 14,905 two years earlier, according to official statistics.
The drastic increase is likely to partly reflect the fact that China's AIDS statistics severely underestimate the true extent of the problem, and official data are now gradually catching up with reality.
China's health ministry has said 183,733 people were confirmed with HIV/AIDS at the end of October, a 27.5 percent rise from the end of last year.
The number of confirmed cases is significantly lower than the estimate of 650,000 put forward jointly by the government and United Nations health agencies in January.
But Wan Yanhai, a prominent AIDS activist, has estimated the true number could even be 10 times higher than 650,000, based on research by an awareness group he heads, the Beijing Aizhixing Institute.
yes, looks quite solid here around 11,5$ at the moment.
If the dilution news gets digested at this level we will be fine.
Comments please about news:
Could the news affect the present momentum ?

Sorry
que, I'm quite positive after the CC.
It seems that the two investors simply got surprised by the extra drop of the pps after delisting. They obviously didn't expect at all that delisting would affect the pps that much. I myself was very surprised too because the delisting was not surprising anymore and my info is that also the company got very surprised by it.
So the two investors looked like fools for a moment investing money right before the stock tanked (perfectly at the wrong time) and hesitated afterwards facing this new situation. It is like looking through the window and seeing suddenly additional dark clouds outside (let's better stay at home today).
Now, it was remarkable to me that the company sounded very confident in terms of financing during the recent CC. I don't think that this was just a game they played, it seems that they clearly see ways to get the financing done again. I guess their optimism is based on the negotiations Roger had in London with the investors (actually sounded like a committment already) and Marr as backup for the worst case.
You asked why the two investors should come up with the money now after not doing so earlier. I don't see it that negative. The progress reported this time is very promising. It is the perfect time to get on a turnaround train (I know I have said this several times earlier, reads will remind me for sure now) because every fair assessment will lead to the conclusion that persistent revenues on several markets are very close (see Russia, Middle East, South Africa).
Got the personal feeling that China has no critical importance for the near-term situation at the moment? Amazing. Doesn't speak against China but for the progress on other markets. It got also perfectly clear that the sFDA delay is simply not caused by the company though it is an very unlucky situation.
It is still far away from being a perfect situation but during September and October I was far more concerned than after the CC.
The only thing left that could break the company now is that the oral test won't perform in the field as good as in the clinicals. But I think the product is the strength of the company and this is the least unlikely.
Within two/three weeks the financial situation could be fixed and the oral test could have passed already the expert panel in China.
Last CC was very well presented btw though the acoustic quality
has been a bit poor at times especially Ron Mink and Rick Brounstein should get a bit closer to the micro next time. The transcript is very helpful.

SFDA meeting takes place presumably in December
<<< Following the general review, our submission will be reviewed by an expert panel within the SFDA at a meeting that we expect to occur in December 2006. >>>
<<< We do not believe that our current cash resources are sufficient to sustain our operations through 2006 without obtaining additional financing. >>>
There must be some sort of financing soon.
Excellent, another important step for Calypte
It seems that Marr can open some doors in Russia.

coin,
I believe that they will apply for US FDA approval on clinical trial data which are to be collected in the USA in upcoming trials. The test will be manufactured in the US too (they have mentioned it already, haven't they?) and it will be based on the ANI technology.
They need to use the ANI format in the US (and later in Europe too) because there are a lot of patents from other companies which prevent them from using the lateral flow technology in the US (and Europe and I think Japan as well).
In China and Africa it is different because all those lateral flow technology patents have never been filed and granted in those countries. At least I checked a few in the past. So everybody can sell lateral flow technology there (other patents which may be in place are not considered here by me e.g. for markers or the like).

poorme,
of course when the stock goes down and at the same time the new CEO's salary is published this does not look good.
My opinion is that he definitely has now a salary which is very significant to this little company. No doubt. However when you consider that he has long year experience as a leader and a successful international career we can not have him for free.
He had his price but he also moved from London to Portland with his wife and he also took the risk of losing this position in short term again considering this is a high risk company and penny stock. If the company failed that would be really bad for his future career.
We can have a cheaper CEO but this one would be a rookie. I think this wouldn't help. It is a complex task. This is also about being realistic. There is also a market for lead management which dictates salaries.
Roger's advantage is that he obviously knows Marr and is important to keep a good relation with Marr. Imagine a new CEO entering the scene with the idea: "Marr is only one partner amongst others and I have a different understanding about how we must advance in the future. I like this company to be more independent, I make it my company now (would be the typical tough manager)".
So one important task of the CEO is to keep Calypte and Marr on the same page. This is not about enforcing plans and decisions against Marr but finding compromises both sides can live with. Now there are some clowns who named him Marr's puppy, but I believe these people have no idea what cooperation in joint ventures and with investors is all about.
I personally believe that Roger Gale is the kind of leader who makes his employees a lot better. He is not the "I did it all"-guy.
My quick thoughts
Cal
AxiomOne,
I honestly believe he is not paid.
It is really that bad.
Cal
AxiomOne,
I had the same impression about the CC.
It is getting obvious now with the order from Middle East that commercially they get the business going finally. The test is demanded by the market and people will pay for it. Also the prospects in China, Russia and India are clearly bright.
However the financial situation remains a problem.
One final remark.
The price of 2,5$ should not be understood as THE one and only price. This is about the price for OTC in Middle East at the moment depending on a specific pricing strategy used now for market penetration in the region.
It can be quite different in China, it can be different for OTC elsewhere and it can be even different in a few months in the Middle East.
In any case, the test is competitive obviously and demand is developing. So this is one important aspect of this investment which I don't worry anymore.
Good luck
Cal
rcgold44,
I really understand how you feel.
Cal
Hi coin,
this is just another typical example of "objective" conversation.
<<< C. Financing
1. In October 2005 Roger Gale said marr could finance Calypte to profitability with straight debt financing and no new dilution. >>>
Posted under Questions for CC ? What kind of question is implied with this statement ? None, just spreading negative stuff.
This statement of Oct 2005 has been based on the expectation that BED sales will develop as expected (which the sales actually did at that time). Based on the assumption that the BED sales show the corresponding development(which was very reasonable for everybody at that time -Oct 2005-) Roger's outlook at that time was perfectly in line with the company's situation.
It is improper to reiterate this statement now after the premises have unexpectedly changed in the meantime and put it up without pointing to the relevant context. This suggests Roger has no credibility and gives intentionally false statements or simply lies. Of course, this is not expressis verbis said here but it is one thing which words one uses and which understanding they can create. We have read this kind of statement multiple times from the same poster on the Yahoo board before and I guess this stylistic difference has only to do with the fact that he can be removed from this board much more easier.
In fact, the company has clearly informed the public right in time when the financial situation changed due to the problems with BED protocols.
Conclusion:
-----------------------------------------------------------------
What we essentially have here (one more time again) is the attempt of discrediting the company's management by connecting their outdated statements with the recent situation.
Just an oversight ? No, seems to be the same old story. Not the kind of reasonable discussion ihub intends to have but some sort of subtile manipulation of the company's reputation.
Besides, this can be easily done with every company.

Cal
que,
it will be best to simply ignore reads (bloodhound) and not respond to him again and again. That is the only thing he wants. He tries to open issues on this and other boards and hopes other people reply and argue with him which gives his messages credibility and helps to spread his destructive agenda. That is his way of creating negative sentiments. In fact he needs us to spread it.
Please all don't respond to his crap in the future.
He will reply that he is posting only facts and is objective while others have rose-colored glasses and ignore the facts especially those who ignore him, a simple technique to lure others into discussions with him.
The truth and the matter is he has to use several different aliases (reads and bloodhound) on the corresponding boards and has not the balls to admit it when he is exposed. Why does he need to use different aliases ?
I asked him to provide facts for his allegation that Marr will take over Calype soon. He hasn't done so although he claims to post only facts. He does not. He is mixing the negatives (the company surely has) with lots of additional unproven rumors hoping people cannot keep them apart.
Most importantly:
He is proud to be a bloodhound.
A bloodhound's life is not about being fair and objective but to simply assist killing and hunting whatever he is trained to. A bloodhound is simply a tool to destroy (as long as you don't consider hunting only a kind of sports which is entertainment). I think this is evidence enough for his real motives.
Besides, this should be enough evidence already to remove him completely from this board because I don't think this is in line with ihub's intentions of this board. COIN ? SOWER ?
que,
don't take my message as personal. Everybody should avoid responding to him, me too. We all should stop it.
Nobody here has to prove him anything, nor explain him.
Cal
thatmaybe,
that may be a good idea.
I think it is possible on Yahoo to create a news group where the group owner (could be everyone with yahoo ID) decides alone about membership and deletion of members (not Yahoo)
see for more info:
http://privacy.yahoo.com/privacy/us/groups/details.html
--------------------------------------------------------
Practices Regarding Your Ability to Update or Delete Information
* If you are a Group owner, you can edit or delete any posting or member in your Group. You can also completely delete your Group at any time. Group owners can also grant moderators the ability to edit or delete postings and members from the Group.
* As a Group member, you can edit your Group memberships and preferences at any time. You can also delete your own messages from a Group.
---------------------------------------------------------------
I think everyone can read the messages of such a group but access to posting is restricted to members.
Could this be a way to solve this problem? Comments? Positives and Negatives ?
Cal
coin,
many thanks and keep up your good work.
okeyed
Cal
coin,
allow me to extend your post.
In addition to the two types of bashers you have mentioned, there are simply nerds on message boards of penny stocks which bash focusing on the weaknesses of penny stocks which the latter ones have per definition. Calypte of course included here, there are reasons why the pps is where it is right now.
Anyway this is easy to do and the probability that you will be right in the present and also in the future is very high. Most of the penny stocks won't make it as empirical data suggest.
Why is the third type of basher doing this ? They don't do it because they are after money, profits or shorting this stock. Btw, honestly I don't really believe in paid bashers, never saw evidence for it.
I think these persons are simply frustrated and bitter, they feel that they are losers and simply want to find a place where they can get attention (and if you are frustrated enough even hatred will be felt as attention) or where they can make the experience that at least once in their lifes they will be smart and right on predictions and smarter than other persons around (e.g. by predicting losses of penny stocks).
Moreover they enjoy it when other positive people experience set backs with their stocks. This must be felt as some sort of revenge for them.
Very sad but I think almost everybody has met such people in life already beyond message boards and help us god if they are our bosses or we are married to them or they are our neighbours in countries where guns are available in every small village for a few dollars and one signature on a form.
Why are they accumulating on message boards. It is free, anonymous, if you feel you are not doing well you can create a new identity (which requires otherwise in real life much more effort) and you can say everything to everyone you have never dared to say in real life because you are a coward.
Very sad but the honest hopeful investor READs it every day on message boards.
Cal

you just posted a message here wherein you stated that we are getting a bit touchy now.
You signed it with the "Old bloodhound" this time.

reads,
<<< ...this will be one of the topics covered in next Wednesday's CC. >>>
You just try to create an artifical expectation for the CC which allows you to further bash afterwards if there is no comment. You try to create you own additional opportunities to bash.
This is a topic brought up by you (and the like) on this board or on other boards and now the company has to address it ? Pure basher tactics. It is your speculation, nothing more, show evidence that such an event will happen ? It is your speculation, nothing else.
Marr has constantly supported Calypte there is no indication that this changes. It is simply your speculation and you better present factual evidence otherwise you are in danger of defaming Marr. Show evidence that Marr will do so.
It is like contending USA could bomb North Korea soon, let us see if Bush will exclude this option in his next speech. And then when Bush is not doing so (why should he, it is absurd) one will say: Oh, he has not excluded it, so it can likely happen I take this as further indication that it will happen. Just further extending this topic on and on.
USA has the ability to nuke North Korea, of course, like Marr could have ways in the future of dominating Calypte's direction but does this prove they will do so ?
<<< it might indicate a "new" positive direction >>>
Just another subtile way to spread the message that the company could be on a wrong direction. The company executes the business plan and the direction is correct. It is nothing more than your speculation that the direction is wrong. How do you know that the plan won't work out in the future ? Provide evidence or a link.
<<< Since Tim Clemensen told one caller that this condition has been "expunged" it would seem that this will be one of the topics covered in next Wednesday's CC. >>>
Just another issue you try to establish as a topic for the CC. It is your topic. It is pure speculation brought up by you. The company never commented on this officially, you are just constructing your topics from selected comments posted somewhere and nowhere. Your plan is to wait out the CC and when there is no comment on it you come up with the next "bad news": The company has not addressed this issue in the CC. You are just trying to build your chain of bad news and unmet duties of the company. The company does not need to address this because it is only your speculation.
<<<Might want to wait for the CC and be sure.>>>
See above. You just try to demonstrate some fair balanced interest. You are sure already that the company will not address it. Just an attempt to look like honestly interested and gain confidence by other people who must read your stuff.
