In science, we strive for data sets that are NOT confounding so the FDA wanted to say that Prurisol converts to abacavir in the general population vice it converts to abacavir in patients with Prurisol. To most of us the difference is a non issue but when you speak of the safety and well being of masses it becomes key.

The purpose of their phase Ib was to ensure that Prurisol converted to abacavir and as it turns out it did. With the safety profile of abacavir firmly established they can now proceed without a formal phase I trial. Basically, the FDA is convinced that Prurisol converts to abacavir and future trials can begin.

Safety is always i"established first in phase I trials which is their purpose. Other outcomes like in the Kevitrin trial actually become secondary to safety.

Hope this clears any confusion.

There has never been a phase I study of Prurisol so the path chosen had to include a safety conponent per FDA. Remember that phase I FDA study is primarily focused on safety so when they made the decision they were doing their job in looking out for you and me as Prurisol is an ester of abacavir but essentially NOT abacavir they needed to know for certain that safety was not an issue.

Now that safety has been established we can go fast but not skip steps that have long been tested and accepted as required before human use.

Like I said last year when Leo referenced the executive order, Leo is telling interested pharmas to increase the bid or CTIX will go fwd with the FEDS under BARDA. Since this is the second time he's thrown this out I believe him to be very serious about going fwd with the FEDS and then entertaining offers further down the line. So with that said, I would expect an inked deal in the coming weeks or another PR signaling CTIX will take B and the other polyheist drugs fwd using BARDA!

I gave it quite a bit of thought and think that maybe she felt she would do better with a drug that is further along the developmental pathway that has also shown to be very promising for ovarian cancer such as Pfizer’s Pfizer’s Palbociclib (PD-0332991). This is all just pure speculation on my part but just think, stage IV cancer is a desperate stage to be in and being able to choose a phase III drug that has some sort of public track record over a Phase I drug that no one even knows exists is very alluring.

K and P is not likely to be sold off or partnered this year BUT before B stole the show, there was some of us thinking that P would be sold to fund K and I still think that's a reasonable possibility and Leo may be lining something up that could surprise us so I remain optimistic that 2015 will be a year of significant growth either via B or P or both.

I agree Tom. Second to that I also think that the FDA requesting additional information is the root cause of the "Momentous" delay. I think Momentous was tied to B phase III and we are at the mercy of government beurocracy. So with that said, I hope we are pleasantly surprised but I am very aware that we may not gain too much that we didn't already expect.

I think the well educated buyers are all ready in and standing by. The volume surrounding QIDP designation hasn't really been duplicated. I think folks are dug in and ready for action and that's all, OR I'm totally wrong and the buyers are waiting till later in the day as to not drive the price up too much.
