How much do you trust Microsoft with YOUR keys?
VADER, Don't worry..., say 'BASF'!
Trusted BMWs? Maybe by that time, we can afford one.
diebold has been here already, go-k., as far as embedded tpm application/devices go.
Is it efeective compeetion? Where will the revenue-attractor be
he's saying that it doesn't require or have a tpm, not whether it's a 'good candidate for one' in the future or not.
i've been hammering this point about the possible unexpectedly early consumer product (or consumer service infrastructure)tpm adoption, for months!
barge, my man, Joshua sez, 'we don't trumpet what is bound to happen'.
this is an anti-intel alliance, as intel wants to place the fast-fetch capability of the hybrid drive on the motherboard, rather than position it in the hard drive.
cm, i'm 100% with ya'..the software security phalanx is is about to fall, at the DoD firstt.
What a wonderful year 2007 is... we are actually talking about t he pros and cons of TPM versus non-TPM machines IN USE! Still slogging? NO WAY!
OT -- "Doesn'nt mean I'm good at" (translation: 'doesn't mean i know squat about it...." To paraphrase Rush Limbaugh, 'you ain't fibbing about it if you can do (or have done) it'. i have the proof that i don't fib when i make an illustrative assertion to illustrate a Wave-germane point..., so, would you like for me to send you a documentary package to peruse what i have and haven't negotiated, in what circumstances, with or for whom, and with what result?
we both need some remedial education these days, mine, in part for' infectious Barge-itis, and in part for sometimes arguing from a business stratigist's biases. it goes with the territory of being a 'long-long', i guess.
We'll see.
Straight from a source that one would expect to be a TC-doubter and potential a competitive loser to technology change. Thanks... nothing new here, nor unexpected, nor really sailent, imo, to Wave's near-term prospects, nor to PGP's long-term prospects for survival. Got more?
my understanding is that the secure partitions are quite capacious, large enough to rent out a on a royalty basis to any application provider with specific DRM needs, virus, video, or otherwise, thus affording Seagate many long-term revenue streams par drive model.
they don't want anybody to pirate, or over-install, their operating system. it's as simple as that, at root.
OT He should hire me, lol, ... my nickname at GM was "JR", for good reason.
OT and IMO -- having negotiated merger agreements, contracts, licences with corporations on both sides of the table, i.e., small vs. large and large vs. small), and have observed that the size of the party can have tremendous inluence, not always disadvantageous of the final outcome, particularly when you consider the disparity in negotiating staff resources and quality, for example, among the engineers, bean-counters, corporate and sub-specialty lawers, etc who are brought to the negotiating table.
IMO, the 90 day mandate extention was imposed to give hardware solutions a shot at being selected over the software solution(s).
Th e only meaningful prediction on this is a price list. Until then, 'tune in'.
These PR's are not 'meaningless'. The 'people on this board', I suspect, are not 'tired'. they are actually, just waiting for PR's with revenue numbers attached... I'd coounsel patience in your case, too.
How SILLY... there is plenty to announce. Only timing is not known.
Want a reason not to have great confidence in Wave's prospects? How about Talmudic caution.
As a Wisconsin resident, this news is no fun for me. I didn't realize that overpaid computers had minds of their own.
Six months ago, this would not have happened. This is REAL progress.
Flaws in Vista equals a plus for Wave. Wave is your computer and OS's 'flu shot'.
This is the year, as painful as the slog has been. We will prevail, IMO, ... SOON! So, best wishes for the New Year.
what's there to 'support' on a non-TPM system, in Wave's case?
thanks for the comic relief on a slow day.
can't type long posts -- but i agree 100% with oknpv as to sks's credibility.
i was responding to the bios integration issues, which look like 'slippage' in execution of the product roll-out to me.
businesss plans = sl[ppage. as for seagate, it's slipping, so get over it.
bravo!
idon't have 'hope'... i still have expectations.
A nice recital... with all those great names and successful business stories and strategies, and you are still invested HERE??? It says something about your sanity, if Wave's execution is, or has been, so bad.
Is there a teensy-weensy kaboom here...?
i wondered about that point myself, but there was no further illucidation i n the article itself.
A conversation is going on on YouTube that has implications for consumer demand for TC-type on-line security. Here's an example of what's been in the conversation:
there are strategies for banking that don't require the spending of $50 by the consumer. the other day, i saw a very low-tech way of solving the problem by having each on-line banking customer register the IP address of the computer(s) from which he or she did his banking... no tpm involved, no incremental cost involved. it's just a question of whether the banks are willing to increase on-line security for their customers.
