Aussie/Canadian oil field development agreement
Melbourne, 17 October, OGT—Zeolite Australia Limited has signed a Collaborative Commerce Agreement (CCA) with Canadian zeolite producer C2C Zeolite Corporation Inc which will deal with oil field development.
Under the terms of the CCA, C2C will provide ZEL with its patented lightweight concrete technology and access to its specialised markets in oil field development.
The technology will allow ZEL to produce "ZeoFume", developed to produce high-strength light weight concrete systems.
"ZeoFume" is a highly reactive product developed by C2C for use in cement systems to improve performance and has application in oil field cementing, in shotcretes for the mining and tunnelling industries as well as for light weight or fire-resistant concrete applications in the building and construction industry.
The "ZeoFume" product was developed by C2C through research programs based on the company's patented Light Weight Zeolite Concretes.
"ZeoFume" is an alternative to silica fume which is widely used for specialised superior strength concrete applications.
C2C markets zeolite products and technology for use in the oil field cementing, environmental remediation, agriculture and constructions industries as well as speciality applications in Canada, the United States, the Pacific Rim.
Both C2C and ZEL believe this collaborative agreement between the companies will enable ZEL to develop the major growth markets of the Middle East and South East Asia as well as the domestic Australian
market.
NOTE...That report come from USGS in case someone missed it....
TR/CARD/10Z...The board...This is the first time I've seen C2C/GSA specifically mentioning "ZEOFUME." To produce ZEOFUME to Haliburton's specs a KDS has to be used. FWIW/IMHO:
http://minerals.usgs.gov/minerals/pubs/commodity/zeolites/zeolmyb02.pdf
[snip] GSA Resources Inc., Tucson, AZ, and C2C Zeolite Corp., Calgary, Alberta, Canada, have joined forces to produce ZeoFume, an
alternative to silica fume. GSA Resources will supply the zeolite (chabazite) from which the product will be manufactured and C2C
Zeolite will supply the technology. The product is used in cement to increase performance for construction, oilfield cementing, and
shotcrete applications. The chabazite is dried, heat treated, ground, and packaged. The zeolite’s pozzolanic properties are enhanced
through the heat treatment. The companies expect to manufacture 5,000 t in the United States and 4,000 t in Canada in 2003. GSA
Resources mines chabazite from its deposit near Bowie, AZ. Reserves are estimated to be 590 million metric tons (Mt) of 90%
chabazite content. C2C Zeolite operates a clinoptilolite mine in British Columbia and has reserves in Nova Scotia that contain stilbite,
mordenite, phillipsite, chabazite, and clinoptilolite (Industrial Minerals, 2002b).
[snip] Canada.—Zeo-Tech Enviro Corp. began mining at its Princeton, British Columbia, deposit. The company produced 4,000 t for
shipment to C2C Zeolite. The zeolite was processed for use in cement mixes for oil well cementing and construction applications.
The product served as an alternative to fumed silica (Zeo-Tech Enviro Corp., 2002). C2C Zeolite has an agreement with GSA
Resources for similar applications in the United States.

I'm surprised that there was little interest in the CZC/GSA PR. The KDS is what cemented [pun intended]the UZP deal with HAL...What about HAL's worldwide business. According to Zeolite Australia's website they are covering CZC's sales in the Middle East...Now there's a French company in Europe and GSA in the USA. The Dragon Mine
The Dragon Mine is located in Juab County, Utah and is the only known commercial source of halloysite clay in the world outside of New Zealand. The mine closed operations a quarter-century ago and geological records indicate that at least 300,000 tons of high-grade halloysite reserves remain on the property.
Halloysite is a special clay traditionally used to make fine china and porcelains, but also with significant industrial applications such as filtering systems and high-tech ceramics. The purity and quality of halloysite from the Dragon is unmatched anywhere in the world and has spawned considerable research into new product applications. Industry experts from The Phlogiston Company, a Georgia-based consulting firm, concluded that, "The grain size and lack of significant impurity make Dragon Mine halloysite superior to products currently on the market." They added that new applications for the Dragon halloysite could ultimately more than double the current market price of about $500 per ton for currently available, lower grade products.
Halloysite is considered unique partly due its microtubular structure. These microtubules, cylindrical in shape with a hollow core, can be used as time-release mechanisms. The U.S. Naval Research Laboratory is at the forefront of microtubular research, having recently patented a process that allows the sustained release of anti-barnacle agents from paints applied to the hulls of ships. Additional studies have demonstrated that variations of their process have many other commercially-viable uses, ranging from agricultural chemicals to household products. Although microtubules can be produced synthetically, researchers believe that natural halloysite may be preferred as it is environmentally friendly, nontoxic and biodegradable.
The Dragon Mine was acquired in October 2003 and is currently under lease to Atlas Mining Company, subject to a 3% gross royalty and an annual payment of 100,000 shares of Atlas stock. Atlas is currently seeking financing necessary to return the mine to production.

These are the questions I asked him, his answer follows each question through the text.
Trevor:
Thank-you for your support. I am pleased to see others see what we see in the potential at the Dragon Mine.
1. We realize the road to the mine is seasonal, how close to the mine is the shipping facility and is it rail or highway transport. About three miles to pavement. 5 to railhead.
2. when do you think the mining to start? We intend to start activitiy as soon as possible this spring. Active mining will begin withn 30 days. of getting there.
3. In one of your releases you talked about a merger of some kind, is there any update on that and is it necessary for a merger or acquisition at this point? We are always on the lookout for a potential merger partner that will add value to the company. So far the ones we have looked at would take the majority of the unissued stock and put the Dragon into the back seat. We think the right candidate will show up one of these days.

"To all those who care -
To "cock a snook" at someone is a bit more elaborate than simply thumbing one's nose. To "cock a snook" is a classic display of derision, properly performed by spreading the fingers of one hand, touching the tip of your nose with your thumb while sighting your opponent along the tips of your other fingers (what the British sometimes call a "Queen Anne's Fan," but what we more commonly call a "five-finger salute"), and waggling your fingers in the most annoying way possible. As a gesture, it doesn't really mean anything, but it does convey utter contempt rather well. Like all fine insulting gestures, cocking a snook always goes well with a Bronx Cheer, or raspberry, as an accompaniment. Crossing your eyes while doing all this is optional but definitely enhances the overall effect. And remember, kids, practice makes perfect
... and who says the British ( besides Benny Hill ) can't be funny?"

Energy Department-funded Scientists Decode DNA of Bacterium that Cleans Up Uranium Contamination and Generates Electricity
WASHINGTON, DC – Department of Energy-funded researchers have decoded and analyzed the genome of a bacterium with the potential to bioremediate radioactive metals and generate electricity. In an article published in the December 12th issue of Science, researchers at The Institute for Genomic Research (TIGR) and the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, report that Geobacter sulfurreducens possesses extraordinary capabilities to transport electrons and “reduce” metal ions as part of its energy-generating metabolism.
“The genome of this tiny microorganism may help us to address some of our most difficult cleanup problems and to generate power through biologically-based energy sources,” Secretary of Energy Spencer Abraham said. “Geobacter is an important part of Nature's toolbox for meeting environmental and energy challenges. This genome sequence and the additional research that it makes possible may lead to new strategies and biotechnologies for cleaning up groundwater at DOE and at industry sites.”
The contamination of groundwater with radionuclides and metals is one of the most challenging environmental problems at Department of Energy former nuclear weapons production sites. Researchers at the University of Massachusetts have previously found that Geobacter species can precipitate a wide range of radionuclides and metals (including uranium, technetium and chromium) from groundwater, preventing them from migrating to wells or rivers where they may pose a risk to humans and the environment.
The analysis of the genome sequence revealed a number of capacities that had not been previously suspected from past research on this microbe. “We’ve provided a comprehensive picture that has led to fundamental changes in how scientists evaluate this microbe,” said Barbara Methe, the TIGR researcher who led the genome project and is the first author of the Science paper. “Research based on genome data has shown that this microbe can sense and move towards metallic substances, and in some cases can survive in environments with oxygen.” G. sulfurreducens was previously thought to be an anaerobic organism.
The other main project collaborator was Derek Lovley, a professor of microbiology at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, who discovered the Geobacter family of bacteria and has led projects to assess their biology and their potential for bioremediation. Lovley said, “Sequencing the genome of Geobacter sulfurreducens has radically changed our concepts of how this organism functions in subsurface environments.” The genome analysis, he said, “revealed previously unsuspected physiological properties” of the bacterium and also gave scientists insight into the metabolic mechanisms that the organism uses to harvest energy from the environment.
Geobacter reduces metal ions in a chemical process during which electrons are added to the ions. As a result, the metals become less soluble in water and precipitate into solids, which are more easily removed. Small charges of electricity are also created through the reduction process. Geobacter is also of interest to the Department of Energy because of its potential to create an electrical current in a "bio-battery."
Geobacter microbes are widely distributed in nature and are commonly found in subsurface environments contaminated with radionuclides and metals. Researchers have demonstrated that if they “feed” the microbes simple carbon sources such as acetate they will grow faster and precipitate more radionuclides and metals. These findings are now serving as the basis for a test of a bioremediation strategy aimed at removing uranium from groundwater at a Uranium Mill Tailings Remedial Action site near Rifle, Colorado.
The Natural and Accelerated Bioremediation Research (NABIR) and Microbial Genome Programs in the department’s Office of Science funded the $800,000 G. sulfurreducens sequencing project. The genome sequence is now serving as the basis for detailed investigations, supported by the department’s Genomes to Life program, into the ability of Geobacter to reduce radionuclides and metals and to generate electricity. The NABIR program’s mission is to provide the fundamental science that will serve as the basis for development of cost-effective bioremediation and long-term stewardship of radionuclides and metals in the subsurface at DOE sites. The focus of the program is on strategies leading to long-term immobilization of contaminants in place to reduce the risk to humans and the environment. The NABIR program encompasses both intrinsic bioremediation by naturally occurring microbial communities, as well as accelerated bioremediation through the use of biostimulation -- addition of inorganic or organic nutrients. More information on NABIR is available at www.lbl.gov/NABIR and on the Microbial Genome Program at http://doegenomes.org. A U.N. grab for Internet control?
Proposal expected at global summit in Geneva
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
© 2003 WorldNetDaily.com
WASHINGTON – A global summit set for next week in Geneva is expected to provide the venue for a plan to put the Internet under United Nations control.
Developing nations – including China, Syria and Vietnam – are pushing for the U.N. or one of its agencies to regulate the Internet, perhaps as soon as 2005. Diplomats from more than 60 countries plan to take up the issue at the U.N. World Information Summit in Geneva beginning next Wednesday.
At issue are the operations currently run by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers, or ICANN, a California group that assigns Internet protocol addresses and oversees major domains, including .com, .net and .org. The group also helps set technical rules for how the Internet operates. Developing nations said their interests would be better served if the Internet were managed by an intergovernmental group, such as the United Nations or one of its arms.
The U.S., represented at the summit by Ambassador David Gross, the State Department's coordinator for international communications and information policy, is opposing the plan.
The summit's goal is to achieve consensus on a draft declaration of principles and draft plan of action, which reportedly includes a recommendation to place the governance of the Internet under the U.N.
"Standardization is one of the essential building blocks of the Information Society," reads the most recent draft of the WSIS Draft Declaration of Principles. "There should be particular emphasis on the development and adoption of international standards."
Leading the effort is China, which allows its own citizens online access, but only with government surveillance. China has so far been joined in its efforts by representatives of Syria, Egypt, Vietnam and South Africa. Other reports suggest Russia, India, Saudi Arabia and Brazil may be on board, too.
Critics of the global Internet idea say certain nations like China want to take away ICANN's duties and place them under governmental auspices, along with increased control over security and content, placing freedom of press and individual freedom of expression at serious risk.
The summit is expected to attract more than 50 heads of state and 6,000 delegates who will address issues from the digital divide to Internet governance.

TR and all, Cal must have time now to reply to some of the emails he has gotten lately. Here's a reply I received today to a congratulatory note I sent him after the CZC and Zeo-lite PR:
"taking a piece of this action will far
exceed the benefits of merely selling
two machines. CZC s contract is with Halliburton,
this is public knowledge, even though we haven't got
clearance yet to use their name
More details will come in due course."

WINNING...Yes, I would agree. HAL is probably the reason for the JV imo.
There is still a lot with this deal that we don't know. IOW...No PR's from CZC, ZEO, or HAL. [Which I expect to see by CZC and ZEO in the next few weeks; if not sooner.I wouldn't expect a PR from HAL, but if they do...it would be a yippee!!!]
FASC's NL didn't give a lot of information either, which I expect to be expanded on in the near future. Hopefully we'll get to see the CZC/ZEO/HAL agreement and the CZC/ZEO/FASC, JV agreement so we can disect them.
Some of us longs have DD'ed Zeolites for a long time and still are...We've gotten our share of flaming because of it too...Can't help but expect there's a lot more coming. I'd throw coal in there somewhere too.
Meanwhile back at the ranch. [pun intended] The 10Q talked about four deals...one down and three to go.
