I just want to point out once again that simple math protocol needs to be followed when using mathematical terms to describe area.
Area is the result of multiplying two measurements, width x length or whatever two names you want to give, that must be in same units of measure (or converted to same units). The resulting area is given in the following format: (numerical value) (unit of measure squared) or sometimes written as (numerical value) ("square" unit of measure)
Therefore you cannot have a width x length square units. It makes no sense.
5 x 5 square miles means nothing. It's incoherent. Are you implying 5 miles x 5 miles? Because that is 25 square miles. Or maybe you mean 5 square miles, which is any combination of length x width that equals 5...for sake of simplistic minds here, we'll go with a perfect square, so 2.23miles for both length and width = 5 square miles.
Maybe you should figure out how to correctly describe area before writing silly stuff. We've already had this discussion. 5mi x 5mi is 5x larger of an area than 5 sq mi.
I'm no expert, but I find it hard to believe that an area less than 2.25 miles squared would cost $1billion to reclaim. Just not buying it.
Of course, what this poorly written diversion has to do with exploration of an area less than 5 acres, I'm not really sure. Especially when you realize that an acre is 1/640th of a square mile.
So let's talk about what's on the plate in front of us. NOI for exploration ... and as already pointed out multiple times, an area less than 5 acres...so 5/640 = .0078 of a square mile. If you were to condense that into one square area, that's .088 x .088.
Funny when you think about it in those terms, disturbing an area less than 1/10 of a mile by 1/10th of a mile is a lot smaller than a lot of parking lots. Somehow comparing drilling holes in an area half the size of my local mall seems a lot less invasive than some would have us believe - trying to portray mental images of an area 5 miles by 5 miles.
Your (lmc) 5 x 5 miles is 3,200 times a larger area than the 5 acres they're going to explore.

...and BOOM goes the dynamite...
Yep, they sure are...and as OG and others have brought up, there is going to be a ton of money made long before the first oz of gold is pulled out of the ground. But, you know...people like to argue for the sake of arguing. Bottom line, we'll make money here.
hahaha. some people just have too much time on their hands. they could file for a permit in 2025!!!! sell now!!! come on. they could also file for a permit tomorrow.
i love the attitude of "They put out a positive PR showing the company is on track and doing the things that need to be done in making forward progress in their business plan, BUT they haven't started drilling yet, I told you this was a scam!!"
Nice to see a PR today, short, not fluff, but reassuring.
I wondered the same thing when I read it, but I don't fully understand the structure of the OTC and I didn't want to ask a stupid question.
I think maybe the QX, QB, and PK are all pink sheet stocks technically...but I don't really know. I suppose I could research it. Seems like someone said that though, with the discussion of the difference in moving from PK to QB as opposed to BB.
I'm sure someone really smart on here will clarify for us.
GM A$!
Maybe someone can enlighten me here. What exactly is the criteria for boards making the breakout board list? I've never really understood it. Clearly it has nothing to do with the number of posts, nor the change in PPS...unless I'm missing something, I just have no idea what the "rate" means or how they come up with it, and therefore really have no clue as to what that means when I see here (and other boards) that certain stock boards are on the breakout list...
...anybody know? TIA
I hope so too...but with what? It's incredible that SEEK is profitable at all, so I'm not diminishing that achievement, but from the financials...they have almost no money, no cash. Sure, buybacks are "authorized" but I'm just curious how they could be buying now. As much as I wish that they were buying back lots of shares at these low prices, I just don't see how it's possible.
Big move on relatively small volume ... I don't have the trades in front of me, but a quick glance looks like around $2k in volume? Nice and thin here. Looking forward to checking out the website opening tomorrow...
will be nice to have some vegan-friendly products here I can actually order, like the olive oil and balsamic! (some of you know what I mean)
Have a great weekend everybody.
Actually the mid-Atlantic ridge change in elevation would be much sooner and much higher
I like your speculation
(and it does make perfectly good sense)
It is...but any way you look at it, 10 square miles is just over 3 miles squared, or 3 x 3...which is not even close to 5 x 5 as you say. It's more like 5mi x 2mi = 10 mi^2
Seems to me since the number dealing with area are so wishy washy and don't even start to tell the story - well, then they become noise, at least to me.
Yeah. Can't go wrong trusting either of those two. Next few years are gonna get real fun.
Going well. Bids creeping back up, tightening the spread. Looking for another long sustained push in future months here as Eddie just keeps rolling out good things.
Yep...I think so. Started a small position today, will continue to add as funds are available.
Just out of curiosity, general question for the board - is there a general consensus of estimates what the PPS will run to when R/M news is announced? Somewhere in the .20 range? It doesn't really much matter, as people's guesses make no difference in my trading decisions, but I do like to hear from experienced traders where they see the stock going, and why...it helps me learn.
TIA
WNRC News - LOI and CC
Check it out:
From yesterday, LOI to acquire an additional system: http://investorshub.advfn.com/boards/read_msg.aspx?message_id=67906418
From today, CC announced:http://investorshub.advfn.com/boards/read_msg.aspx?message_id=67962571
After this long consolidation/accumulation period, looking for a strong move up in anticipation of the CC over the next 2-3 weeks!
I'm not going to go read all of this stuff or re-read all your old messages as I typically glance through them and only find myself wondering how you have so much time to post about a company you don't own...but to each their own.
What I don't understand...
You said you posted 5 mile by 5 mile which is 25 square miles, 5x larger than the mineralized zones where drill holes were completed, and 2.5x larger than the 10 square mi area covering the 331 claims.
That's if I'm reading your post correctly...
Bought those .20s ... funds cleared was suprised to see .20 on the ask. I'll take 'em!
Thank you. Can't remember what other board I used to see you on...I think another potential R/M play. Things look good here. Hoping for some news in the coming weeks.
It's an emotional force that is mind boggling. HEB is a great example, one if the 25 largest privately owned companies, a Texas company with I think 13bil in annual revs. Bottom line, they don't have the best prices, but texans shop Texas companies. (central market that Lawrence mentioned is the "gourmet" brand/store of HEB foods)
There really is no telling where things could go here.
Just finished listening to the interview. Good stuff. Definitely opening a position here very soon. For anyone wondering just how "appealing" the Texas brand is, here's my take.
My roommate in college was from Texas. I never understood why he and all the other Texans HAD to have Texas flags all over the place...I'd never seen such state pride. And then I got stationed in Texas for almost 5 years.
I have NEVER seen so much emotion attached to a state identity. To be honest, I find it a bit obnoxious, it's so strong. I would say at least 75% of the homes have Texas stars somewhere...many of them in the brick work or in the glass work of the front door. Almost every overpass on any major highway has the Texas star. The list goes on and on and on, and I won't bore you with the list...
...but, I will confirm from firsthand experience that this emotionally based Texas identity/brand is a huge force. It can't be quantified, but it is incredibly powerful. With the securing of that URL and the trademarking of that brand name, and the ability to brand multiple lines of varied products under that...this is something very, very special here.
GM everyone, been following this board for a few weeks now ... just reading/lingering in the shadows. Ready to start a position here this week and continue to add in the coming days/weeks as we wait patiently for news. I love win-win situations like this, if news is soon, awesome! If news takes a while, more time to slowly add to my position as funds become available.
Just wanted to say hello to everyone. I like this board...rare to find a board without a bunch of immature bickering. Great board you got here mods.
Well, when ISML goes on a sustained climb to .20+ in the next few months, maybe year...that's $10k. With a little looking, you'll find another person here (not me) with BIG positions in ISML and a few other incredible companies that stated 2 years ago he had less than $10k in his portfolio. Just some food for thought. Your 50k shares of ISML may give you the funds to move into another (or several) other Hidden Gems within the next year, which in another 2-3 years time could result in a portfolio worth $1M+
Just food for thought.
Well, my small bid at .004 was taken out, and then dropped immediately to the next lowest bid...
maybe should have waited with a lower bid, but picked up what I could. Now here's to hoping for some news...
People are talking about WW - specifically that it's going to take time for products to be tried, and talked about, and shared, and promoted internally. Also we know from Eddie that we won't hear news about WW response for at least a couple of weeks from the start of WW.
Groupon - yes, it's a way to get lots of product to lots of people. Read Eddie's post about their marketing strategy with Groupon.
What's the alternative? Put the product in grocery stores with a ridiculously low profit margin and lots of up-front inventory?
No gimmicks here. No hard feelings if you get out, definitely understand people have different trading strategies and always need to have their stocks moving...only time will tell if it's the best decision. Best of luck whatever your choice.
Well, that's good to know - a double edged sword for sure, as using specific cities to judge the market in certain areas would be lost if the offer wasn't somehow geographically limited (which your system makes it.)
And to repeat Six Cents sentiments to some extent - some discount deals are great, but the limitation of this Groupon offering will allow new customers to experience Smoky products at a discount, not pre-existing customers/shareholders searching for a way to save a buck knowing they're cutting into profit margins.
Kind of a moot point, but I hope my previous post didn't imply I was encouraging "regulars" to go save a few bucks by scalping the Chicago Groupon when it launches.
Looking forward to feedback in the coming weeks on WW and Groupon ... and to hear how things are progressing in Canada!
Happy Columbus day!
So to expand on that just a bit - and to voice something I was wondering in my head...this first Groupon push is targeting Chicago users, as Eddie (and you) have stated, which means Groupon users like myself not from the Chicago area won't get them. However, since Smoky is a mail-order product, not a local brick-and-mortar business, my first thought would be that anyone could use the Groupon deal next week.
We just moved from TX to MA a month ago, but being too lazy to update my Groupon, I still get emails for Austin, TX Groupon specials. Granted most of them are for local products/services, so I don't really use them, but I could - if they were products that I could order and have shipped.
I was wondering about that this morning, and I haven't perused the Groupon site, but based on your post, my assumption is that anyone can go look through specials for whatever city they choose, even if they're not a "subscriber" to that city's email distro? Granted folks would have to know of the special and go look for it, as there's probably not a lot of people browsing Chicago Groupon deals, but for folks looking for another discount to use to get Smoky products into the hands of new customers (friends, family), might be something to look into.
All I really care about is the movie
They are, just not post office, most banks, schools, etc.
Will be great when WNRC finally has it's "day," in the meantime, it's not so hard to wait patiently here.
I agree completely here. Of course, both of those things require revenue ... and lots of it. So it's going to take some time as we all know. The good news is that SG seems to be doing everything he's said he will, which for me, lends support for holding this long. For those looking for a short hold and big gains...probably not the place. For longs who believe in SEEK and like to add in small increments, lots of opportunities at these levels - there's almost no danger of missing the boat.
True true.
It's great that the discussion on the board now is about marketing strategies when a few short months ago back in the beginning of 2011, there was nothing, just some whispers of potential talks with WW ... and that was it. Very few posts on the board... some days none at all.
And here we are, an operational company and Eddie just keeps ticking things off the checklist of promises and unveiling new avenues of advertising/sales.
It's good to be a SMKY shareholder.
Yeah, that was great. Hundreds of thousands of purchases. Wife and I forgot darnit. I emailed Eddie yesterday about livingsocial, they've looked at it. Didn't say anything further but wouldn't be surprised to see it used also.
My experience with groupon is usually something along the lines of a single all or nothing offer at a huge discount:
Ex. 1 hour deep tissue massage $45 today only (usually $75)
Ex2. Helo flight lesson, $150 normally a $300 value, offer good for two days
Just my experience. There's not many user choices for applying the discount. It's a take it or leave it offer.
But as everyone said, big thing here is exposure and if the discount is enough to make new customers try smoky over their cheaper, lower quality salmon, return customers will come from a willingness to pay more for a higher quality product that they've already experienced
Don't worry about trying to win - just employ a three-part strategy:
1) make sure the logo is on your back
2) make sure you weasel your way to the front of the pack prior to the gun
3) make sure you run slow enough that everybody has to pass you.
:)
That's lots of free advertising. Just make sure it doesn't say something like "Powered by Smoky Market" as people are flying by you. :)
Huh? You will be worth millions? Your portfolio will be? Mine too :)
I mean, that is what Eddie said, not me...and I went with low numbers in the math. I don't know how the preferred financing will work, in terms of how many shares are going to be sold to raise the $5 mil, but it's not really a concern when you look at a "several billion dollar company" means to me at least 3bill market cap, and fully diluted that's $15 pps.
Definitely worth waiting 5 years. :)

Great news. It just keeps getting better (as we knew it would). More revenue in a high profit margin area - more talk of acquisitions (and the implied ability to continue expansion without burdening debt or dilution).
Dan Green is building this mansion once building block at a time. I haven't read the other responses yet, but am sure some more PPS valuation numbers will be crunched to show that we're even more undervalued ... and my guess is this ups the estimate of year end revenue to 1MM+
