Letterhead says he lives in Lockport,IL about 20 miles from my house, he's on sabbatical from U of I to complete research project.
Cash, I think you, and everyone else for that matter, should google the name on the letter:Sankarshan Acharya.
You will be pleasantly surprised. I would say this individual knows a lot more about finance matters than most of us here.
I checked out Clinicaltrials/gov and thought that the most exciting development there was with premature infants and cord blood transfusion. Probably I'm biased cause that's my area of interest and expertise. However, the infusion of cord blood cells for treatment of intraventricular hemorrhage and other conditions seems spot on to me. When a premature baby is born, the drill is to get a designated donor for O neg cells which are actually stored in 50 ml alliquots. They are kept on hand for tiny babies with multiple blood tests as they commonly need transfusion.
A better alternative would be to harvest the infant's cord blood cells and save the blood product for later administration when needed. From my corner of the world the challenge I keep hearing about is the collection and harvesting so we may be a few years away but so interesting it is.
A few years back it was discovered that premature babies actually gained weight quicker and went home sooner if the conditions of a mother's womb were recreated as much as possible. In other words, if you could keep the environment quiet and dark it is less stressful for the baby who expends fewer calories. Believe it or not, they did studies with rats who were submerged in fluid on respirators to see how far they could take the "womb simulation" thing. That didn't go so well but it was creative.
OK so now I'll get to the point lol...to me umbilical cord blood admin is a natural extension of the idea of preserving all that a womb has to offer(dark, quiet, blood cell supply etc.) for a premature infant and has incredible future potential! I don't work at a major academic center currently but I am going to check this out further with some of my physician colleagues who do.
Believe it or not I understood all that you said until the last few sentences. Why is the creation of new DRGs for cord blood positive for banking facilities? The DRGs are mechanisms for the hospital to get paid and patients to get coded correctly at discharge for the treatments they receive. I'm sure you know that all patients' diagnoses are coded from their medical record and even coded by zip code so from a public health perspective, trends in epidemiology can be identified geographically and remain anonymous.
It's late so maybe missing something basic. How does the creation of a specific DRG help the banks except to identify trends and have more accurate picture of usage? One purpose of the DRG system is for inpatient reimbursement. The hospital invests in providing services to the patient such as blood transfusions or stem cell transplant to respond to the diagnosis. With any kind of luck they will get reimbursed at a 30-40% reimbursement of gross charges. Totally not bashing just trying to understand better as I think you have a wealth of knowledge. Thanks for all your contributions.
Thanks for all the recent info. Curious about the 2 bag set up. With all due respect, I don't think an insurance company or anyone else can use blood products for storage for family and also for public use without patient's permission. Maybe that's built in the process somewhere with a consent?
Sorry posted too soon. Read your response later.
I would buy shares at the levels you describe to average down but only electronically. In fact, I've tried several times, electronically only. If I make a phone call and hear the disclaimers too much of a red flag. Can't do it. That's what annoys me the most about this stock, can't move on...only wait it out.
Woulda..coulda.. shoulda. HP. Why so offensive on this penny stock?Maybe u know something we don't.
Renee
Some may say you are a naysayer. tell us why this isn't so since others have commented on this topic as well. GLTA since we are all in for the end game
cici nice. I value your opinion
I hate all the abbreviations...I can't quit laughing about ur post.
Best post of the day so far. Maybe even sticky material lol
Nothing to do right now but to let it play out. We know the amended agenda; we know what docs are up; we know who may be in attendance from the board. There's nothing more that can be said at this point that will impact what goes on in that courtroom today. Buckle up, sit tight, and don't forget to exhale!
Wow wamuvoodoo, when you put it that way I believe that most judges would "take it under advisement" and think really hard and long before making a decision. delay delay Hope that's not the case.
Agree. Think MSNBC much more likely to carry story than Fox News. In fact I believe they did run a small segment maybe 6 months ago.
With all due respect if those positive, positive, positive posters could tone it down a bit perhaps some legitimate buyers would step up. My post has been deleted for I don't know what reason but when I checked on the history of some of the critiques I found that there is another level beyond sub zero zero. hmmm maybe a few facebook entries are in order to make us feel safe.
Gotta respond here bcuz I believe that both Locks and hcky have nailed the bottom line. Insurance companies looking for the cheap way out albeit by supporting Medicare with maybe 1% risk situation for them. Why not, makes them look good?
On the other hand I'm a true believer in the theory of "be careful what u wish for"...since we all know that medicare regulations ultimately result in the "standard of care" affecting insurance regulation in general. I am hopeful that those who we believe are trying to do the right thing for patients in general prevail. GLTA
Best post of the day....jhd. Oh and congrats on your daughter graduating from nursing school. Awesome moment I am sure.
All I can say tryz is I hope your assessment of this stock's future is correct. I've lost money as well. Time will tell.
Added to my collection at .0075. Not a huge amount but accumulating.
Went back and read everybody's posts. My order was 10K so no problem filling if that helps. Whoever says they pick and choose orders would be correct. GLTA
I think you have a point DP. My daughter in Journalism school at Univesity of Missouri. Worst thing an investigative reporter can do is bore their audience by "over reporting" on a topic. Goal is to keep the audience hanging on for more and report fresh updates at key moments. The best ones choose their "moments" carefully.
I find it interesting to receive such a number of responses when I commented about flippers and pumpers since I wasn't even referring to recent posters. I have been following this stock for a long time and there have definitely been a few as well as the SEC restriction not exactly positive. Whatever.
In any case, I looked back at my MVBY and found that I have held shares for almost two years and bought the first lot at $1.95 pps. What a hard fall! Can someone briefly explain to me what has transpired, besides the recession, to result in the sub point we are at here? More importantly, I would love to share some enthusiasm about the future of this stock but can't exactly get my arms around the concept.
Some say I ramble, but whatever. The reality is that the newest business model of $495/initial fee speaks volumes about what is important to new parents. Case in point. Our hospital tried to sell footprints from babies at birth for $1000 per shot. Didn't have a lot of takers. It was so bad that we ended up selling the damn footprints for $100 per baby. The market was flooded so much so that we had to change the footprints every month vs once a year. We are now backing it up to a more realistic price like $250. Bottom line is parents will pay, if they can, to do the right thing for their newst blessing.. Volume discount over elitist stuff. Isn't that the Walmart idea? Works for me.
I hate that dark cloud thing.....
Very nice. thanks for sharing.
I started to post this article early AM but decided no one wanted to read JD's self promoting blubbering. I post now with the statement "Pride goeth before a fall." Seems to fit. Awesome day.
JPMorgan's Dimon broadly optimistic on reform
REUTERS — 10:54 PM ET 05/24/10
NEW YORK (Reuters) - JPMorgan Chase & Co Chief Executive Jamie Dimon is broadly optimistic financial reform is headed in the right direction, he said on Monday at the Japan Society's Annual Dinner in New York.
"We'll end up with something better than what we had before," he said, although he added that he is not expecting perfection.
Dimon, who has criticized elements of the U.S. financial reform effort, such as the move to trade all derivative instruments on an exchange, said he believes it is possible to find a way to wind down large, systemically important companies, without hurting taxpayers.
White House Economic Adviser and former Federal Reserve Chairman Paul Volcker introduced Dimon, 54, as a man "at the top of his game" and said under his leadership JPMorgan "maintained stability throughout the crisis."
"I'm also proud to call myself a banker," Dimon said.
JPMorgan, the second-largest U.S. bank by assets, acquired troubled investment bank Bear Stearns Cos and failed Seattle thrift Washington Mutual in 2008.
In a short, broad-ranging speech, Dimon said no one individual and no one group of people was responsible for the crisis, but there was too much leverage in the system and there were regulatory lapses.
The Senate approved a sweeping Wall Street reform bill on Thursday, capping months of wrangling over the biggest overhaul of financial regulation since the 1930s.
JPMorgan shares closed down 3.6 percent at $38.62 on Monday.
Some pretty intense stuff...senderos. Not sure how to respond
eyes I give you credit for stating the truth and dismissing the bs
wangwang...how did you get such street smarts as a college student? Just asking as i have 3 kids in college and I would like to advise them perhaps.
IMHO Susman wouldn't puah for the shareholders meeting and call for a vote if it wasn't absolutely necessary. He hasn't actually played that card yet but keeping it in his list of possibilities to bring forward as needed when the time is right. Who would have known that we would learn so much as chess players or poker players in the game of life? GLTA
Nice post survivor...Made me smile.
No worries. All spins around in your head after all this time!
Uzual was responding to my question about SJ. My bad. Thanks for the correction.

I think they should schedule it the same day the sanctions hearing for Rosen is held.
Thanks UZ. These motions swim around in my head sometimes!
I'm pretty sure Susman filed a motion for oral arguments on the SJ which to the best of my knowledge is another approach for SJ decision. Darn if I can find it right now. In last few days, I believe. Any help?
Pharmacies a good thought but there are incredible regulations related to storage of body fluids, blood products and such by the FDA, government etc. There needs to be a 24 hour alarm to be sure the refrigerator temperature doesn't drop below a certain degree so that that the blood product becomes tainted. There are storage date guidelines, dispense guidelines blah blah blah. I tell you this only to point out how incredibly expensive it is to maintain products such as placentas. All in the public health best interest, but not cheap.
Always the problem with beer, hard to decide if too much or not enough? haha Oh especially as it relates to Washington Mutual.
That's what I'm thinking. Gotta free up some dry powder.
Now there's the insurance industry I'm familiar with! lol
Actually I have a few shares I bought pre seizure for $35
